Relocating back to Northern California a decade later, he appeared in the films "Bee Season" "Twisted" and "Paradise Club" as well as in stage productions at Center Repertory and Playhouse West. What a Creep: Casey Affleck & James Franco Season 13, Episode 1 A Duo of Acting Creeps Casey Affleck is a successful actor, writer, and director who was nominated for an Academy Award for the Best Supporting Actor in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford in 2007. He also had roles in a string of hit films like To Do For, Good Will Hunting, Oceans 11, 12 & 13, plus Gone Baby Gone directed by his older brother Ben. In 2009, he and his buddy Joaquin Phoenix decided to direct a Spinal Tap-Esque film where Joaquin would play a hyped-up version of himself becoming a hip hop star after winning an Oscar for Walk the Line. It was called I'm Still Here and was a flop in many ways, artistically and financially (he used his own money to fund it) plus, he was later sued by two women who worked for him for sexual assault and continual harassment on the set by him and his buddies on the set. This lawsuit has not stopped the press fawning over his talent. In this episode, we will talk about the two lawsuits and their aftermath. Today's guest grew up the daughter of two prominent Chicago attorneys and the youngest of three siblings immersed in the arts. Everyone welcome: Cassidy Freeman. Her poise, work ethic and determination to constantly challenge herself quickly paid off. She embraced her old soul and let go of her aspirations of being an ingénue which immediately led to her first big break. Not knowing what a "stand in" or a "#2 on a call sheet" might deter other folks, but not Cassidy. She used that experience on her first big show as her TV Acting grad school. You've definitely seen her in the star turning role as "Tess Luthor" on SMALLVILLE and she continued to THE PLAYBOY CLUB, VAMPIRE DIARIES, LONGMIRE and THE RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES. But before blazing the small screen with these credits, she had to learn some hard lessons along the way that led her to have fun when acting...especially for auditions. We go from 7 year old Cassidy gracing the stage of The Chicago Lyric Opera to performing at The Atlantic Theater in New York City at 22 years old, with some sound advice from a close Broadway novice that completely shifted her dreams to Broadway by way of TV. She shares her appalling experience of auditioning for a prominent Casting Director who gave her advice that she still thinks about to this day. You will hear why acting is the one art form you can't do in a vacuum since we have to listen in order to be present which is why she still takes classes at Playhouse West to this day. This is why she continues to redefine success to this day by loving life by living it. Pat Craig of the Contra Costa Times wrote: “Playhouse West is the most consistently excellent theatre on this side of the hill, and one of the best in the entire Bay Area.” Lois has personally won 7 Bay Area Critic’s Circle Awards, 6 for directing and choreographing and 1 for Best Actress in 2001. Her World Premiere Production of the musical In This House garnered 4 Critic’s Circle Awards, 2 of which were awarded to Lois for Best Musical and Best Direction of a Musical in 2008. At age 17, she ventured from Philadelphia to New York, where she became enamored with Musical Theatre. Shortly thereafter, she found herself doing the Charleston, singing and having a blast in the Off Broadway production of The Boy Friend at The Cherry Lane Theatre. Thus, her initiation into the professional theatre! Roles that followed, included Louise in Carousel with John Raitt, Leisl, in The Sound of Music, Tiger Lily in Peter Pan with Sandy Duncan and Betsy Palmer, and Laurey in Oklahoma! opposite Peter Palmer. While in New York, she made many TV commercials and industrial films. She launched the choreography facet of her career, with The Music Man starring Bert Parks. This role won her the Best Actress Critic’s Circle Award. “Lois Grandi shines in the role of Edna” East Bay Express. Very few people have written stories about ghost hunters, sent a poem to a NASA astronaut, AND performed scenes with Jeff Goldblum. In fact, I’d argue no one has done all three of those things — except for today’s guest, Susan McCauley. Susan is a writer and producer of paranormal, fantasy, and horror films and fiction for adults, young adults, and middle grade audiences and readers. She also studied acting at Playhouse West with Robert Carnegie and Jeff Goldblum in Los Angeles. But most important of all, she has a great knack for storytelling. We’re diving into how that skill can help anyone, whether you’re a writer or not. Plus, a foray into Shakespeare, Susan’s newest book, Ghost Hunters: Pirates’ Curse - A Ghost Hunting Adventure, and some of her spookiest encounters.

The whole process of (co)writing (with my writing partner at the time) and producing it (completely on my own, then bringing it to my producer David Ivory to clean it up and make it sparkle) brought me great light upon my life situation; despite not being religious even remotely. I can only hope that the listeners find relation to their own periods of overcoming and growing from their grief. The silver lining always glimmers. Personal Statement: Hey, my name is Maro DēLo. He has taught at Playhouse West, which was founded by Robert Carnegie and the late Sanford Meisner. Jeff Goldblum is also a teacher there. In two of his most famous roles, he has played immortal and extremely powerful characters. In Lost he played Jacob, the almost god-like protector of the mysterious island, and in Supernatural he played Lucifer, a villainous fallen angel. In real life, Mark is one of the kindest, thoughtful, thinking people I've met. Whenever I come away from a conversation with him, I feel I've learned something, my own thinking is validated, and I have a new perspective to consider. In Mark's latest project, The Guardian Project, he aims to eliminate online trolls who seek to dismantle the reputations of noteworthy people while hiding behind the anonymity of the internet. Fun Fact: He was a serious contender for the role of Castiel in "Supernatural" before Misha Collins was cast. He later got to play the recurring role of Lucifer a year later. Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! when host Scott McCausey chats with actor Burgess Jenkins about faith based movies that can make a difference in people's lives. Born in Winston-Salem NC, Burgess studied Psychology through graduate school which he says “opened up a world of possibilities in his characters”. It was during this time he signed with a local talent agency and a passion for acting was born. Though he found some early success, a turning point for Burgess was enrolling in the famed Playhouse West in Los Angeles where he studied for 4 years under Bob Carnegie and Oscar nominee Jeff Goldblum. Armed with a love for “Method” acting, he quickly began landing small roles and supporting parts, but in the summer of 2000 Burgess landed the coveted role of Ray Budds in the Blockbuster Remember The Titans opposite two time Academy award winner Denzel Washington. In addition, he played Hilary Swank's husband David Winter in The Reaping; recurred as Bobby Irons throughout season 6 on the hit WB series One Tree Hill and starred opposite Hugo Weaving in The Key Man. Currently Burgess is recurring on ABC's smash hit Nashville. His latest movie Hero, is a direct to video film that releases in Walmart soon.

Kevin Sorbo has enjoyed success on television for over twenty consecutive years, a feat rarely accomplished by an actor. Sorbo quickly rose to stardom in the title role of the hit series, Hercules, the Legendary Journeys. The immense popularity of the five initial 2-hour telefilms in 1993 resulted in the launch of a weekly series by 1994. The series not only became a breakout hit by becoming the number one first-run program in syndication, it also passed Baywatch as the most watched TV show in the world. Kevin has most recently appeared in the blockbuster God's not Dead and Let the Lion Roar.
