Bob Iger Back As CEO, Bob Chapek Out https://deadline.com/2022/11/disney-bob-iger-returns-ceo-bob-chapek-out-1235178223/ Per Deadline, Iger's initial successor, Bob Chapek, has stepped down as Disney CEO. Iger now returns to the position after less than one year of retirement. "The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) announced today that Robert A. Iger is returning to lead Disney as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately," the company wrote in an official notice. "Mr. Iger, who spent more than four decades at the Company, including 15 years as its CEO, has agreed to serve as Disney's CEO for two years, with a mandate from the Board to set the strategic direction for renewed growth and to work closely with the Board in developing a successor to lead the Company at the completion of his term. Mr. Iger succeeds Bob Chapek, who has stepped down from his position."   MCU – MARVEL STUDIOS NEWS   Chris Hemsworth Says a Thor 5 Needs a Different Tone https://www.cbr.com/chris-hemsworth-thor-5-needs-different/ Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Hemsworth pointed out how the first two Thor movies were quite similar, then the third and fourth films in the series, both directed by Taika Waititi, were also similar, albeit drastically different in tone from his first two outings. The actor explains that he has appreciated how he has been able to continuously reinvent the character, citing Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame as yet another unique chapter in his journey as Thor. "I've said this before but when it becomes too familiar, I think there's a risk in getting lazy then because I know what I'm doing," he said. "I don't know if I'm even invited back, but if I was, I think it would have to be a drastically different version in tone, everything, just for my own sanity… [laughs] Thor lost his mind that last one. He's got to figure it out now."   While in the past Hemsworth has claimed he would play Thor forever, he recently admitted that he thinks a fifth film would have to be his last. He acknowledged that, much like Robert Downer Jr.'s Iron Man and Chris Evans's Captain America, a conclusion for Thor is inevitable. "I feel like it probably warrants that. I feel like it'd probably be the finale, but that's not based on anything anyone's told me or any sort of plans. You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don't know—am I at that stage? Who knows?"   From June 23rd, 2022: Chris Hemsworth Plans to Stop Playing Thor Before Fans Want Him To https://www.cbr.com/chris-hemsworth-explains-needs-mcu-thor/ Thor: Love and Thunder star Chris Hemsworth recently discussed his limit when it comes to playing iconic Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero Thor. Hemsworth revealed how he'll know when it's time to step away from the role that made him a star in an interview with Total Film MAgazine. "Each time, if the opportunity comes up and presents itself [to play Thor], I'm just open to whatever creative exploration can happen, thanks to different writers and directors and so on," he said. "But I love playing the character, I really do. It always comes down to: 'Is this script different to the last one? Are we repeating something?' And when it becomes too familiar, I think that's when I'd have to say, 'Yeah, no, this doesn't... I think I've...' [laughs] I'd like to exit before people tell me to exit."   From June 22nd, 2022: Chris Hemworth would play Thor again – if it's something different https://www.gamesradar.com/chris-hemsworth-thor-return-chances-love-and-thunder/ As reported by Games Radar+, Feige is happy for Thor to get a potential fifth or sixth film due to sheer number of tales that revolve around the Norse God that could be put to the big screen. "I know this: there are many, many other Thor stories in the comics that we talk about a lot," he said. "And as we watch Chris Hemsworth continue to grow and evolve as a major acting talent, I would be excited to see how he keeps evolving this complex character."   Walt Disney CFO, Others Brought Concerns to Board Over Bob Chapek Bob Chapek Shifted Budgets to Disguise Disney+'s Massive Monetary Losses https://www.wsj.com/articles/walt-disney-cfo-others-brought-concerns-to-board-over-bob-chapek-11669072222 https://www.cbr.com/bob-chapek-shifted-budgets-disguise-disney-plus-losses/ Per The Wall Street Journal, "people familiar with the matter" shared that shows intended to be (and billed as) Disney+ originals, including The Mysterious Benedict Society and Doogie Kameāloha, M.D., were aired first on other networks, such as the Disney Channel, so their production and marketing budgets wouldn't be counted against Disney+. In this way, the streaming service was seen as losing less money on original content. Chief Financial Officer Christine McCarthy, who was reportedly one of the voices behind Chapek's removal, was "concerned about this strategy."   Chapek had a lot riding on Disney+, as he had promised investors that Disney's streaming division, which also includes Hulu and ESPN+, would be profitable by 2024. However, 164 million subscribers for Disney+, roughly two-thirds of Netflix's current number, and $30 billion invested in content in 2022 alone haven't been enough to stop losses from increasing for the last four quarters. Overall, the streaming division has lost more than $8.5 billion since Disney+ launched in 2019.   OUTRO AND BONUS AUDIO [1:19:30]   We would love to hear back from you! “I just love storytelling,” Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, in regards to how she got involved with screenwriting. “I loved writing as a kid. I wrote children's books. I loved telling stories. I loved putting on shows in my living room. At more core, I love storytelling and the theater of it.” As a writer, Jennifer's credits include the TV series Sweet/Vicious, and the movies Someone Great, Unpregnant, Do Revenge, and Thor: Love and Thunder. “I like playing in different genres, but what I do lean towards are stories about women and stories about trauma, told in entertaining packages.” “The sweet spot, in terms of the stories I tell, is finding these emotional stories and putting them in these heightened environments.” In her premiere series, for example, Sweet/Vicious was about two vigilantes in collect who wanted justices for campus abuse. The “guttural” idea was “what if Quentin Tarantino wrote Girls? What would that look like?” This idea excited her and stayed with her. When she sold this script, she had about ten years of experience meeting people and “trying to figure out where there's a crack in the door where I can open the door further to step through the door.” Subscribe for video interviews on YouTube: www.youtube.com/c/CreativePrinciples?sub_confirmation=1 If you enjoy the podcast, would you please consider leaving a short review on Apple Podcasts? And I believe this will be something that has endless possiblities for it. Comments are Welcomed Like The Video VENMO: @Brian-Walmer-2 #TheMetalMen #DCComics #WarnerAnimationGroup #WarnerBros #WAG #TheHollywoodReporter From The HR: "Animation legends Ron Clements and John Musker, the acclaimed team that spent decades at Disney making movies such as The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and The Princess and the Frog, are heading to DC. The duo have teamed up with Celeste Ballard, a writer who worked on Space Jam: A New Legacy, to tackle animated feature The Metal Men. Warner Animation Group is the home of the project, which is based on the longtime DC property. Clements and Musker are producing and have written the treatment for the film, which they are eyeing to direct. Craig Peck is executive producing. Allison Abbate, the former producer (The Iron Giant, The Corpse Bride) and now head of WAG, is shepherding the project for the studio. Based on DC Comics heroes created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru in 1962, the concept revolves around a brilliant scientist, William Magnus, and his creations: six highly advanced robots who have powers and personalities associated with their respective metals — gold, iron, lead, tin, mercury and platinum. The group had its own title in the 1960s and then made frequent appearances throughout the DC Universe in the ensuing decades. The stories have vacillated in tone from comedic to somber, with the group at times being on the run from government agents or even being robot assassins. The group sometimes incorporated a whole periodic table's worth of metal elements as new characters. The heroes made appearances in various animated series in the 1990s and 2000s, with Warners in the aughts trying to develop live-action takes that involved, at various points, X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner, writer and executive Geoff Johns, and Men in Black filmmaker Barry Sonnenfeld. Details of the new take were not revealed, but the medium of animation and Ballard's work on Space Jam may point to a direction. Ballard — repped by WME, Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment and Hansen Jacobson — also worked on the TBS comedy Wrecked and MTV's Sweet Vicious, with both featuring whip-snap and irreverent humor. Clements and Musker's vast CVs have seen them act as writers, directors and producers on some of the biggest and most influential Disney movies of all time, some featuring now-iconic princesses and song numbers, including the back-to-back hit of 1989's Little Mermaid and 1992's Aladdin, movies that led to the great Disney comeback in the 1990s. They were also behind 1997's Hercules, 2002's Treasure Planet, 2009's The Princess and the Frog and 2016's Moana. The involvement of the longtime pros is a coup for WAG, which is still in the fledgling stage of its animation output. The Warners unit will be leaning more heavily on the DC brand as it grows and next up has DC League of Super Pets hitting theaters in May 2022." --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bwrosas/support

She reiterates Fleabag’s greatness but also brings up faves The 100 and The Leftovers. She also laments the early canceling or Sweet/Vicious, an MTV show ahead of its time in rightfully hating men. Ken does his part to be hateable by revealing that his best-of-the-decade movie list is made up of 15 flicks and 10 more as an honorable mention. His top two aren’t surprising but neither are the rest of his picks, don’t you worry. We’re excited to move into 2020, even with all the problems in the world. Alani and Ariana have slightly different opinion on whether recycling characters and stories is a good idea. Plus, they share which of their favorite movies or TV shows they think deserve a second life! Ariana and Alani also go through the list of movies that are coming out this year and which ones they want to see. Can Beyonce really make them pay to watch The Lion King? Listen now to find out. Also we will never stop talking about Sweet Vicious! Two time zones, but same wavelength when it comes to all things pop culture and entertainment, Alani and Ariana dish it out every week. Victoria Park was born and raised in the great city of Chicago, and can be currently seen on MTV’s Sweet/Vicious. She is best known for her leading role as Hayley in feature film “Everything Before Us”, her recurring role as head cheerleader Aubrey on ABC Family’s “Bunheads”, as well as her work on “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Revenge”, “Cavemen”, and with Wong Fu Productions. She graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Radio/TV/Film, and has trained with Anthony Meindl, Margie Haber, Playhouse West, & Upright Citizens Brigade. Victoria is also half of YouTube sketch comedy duo “2 Azn Grlz”, and loves denim, her cats, and really bad puns. Victoria used to be self conscious since she was living life to make others happy. She was always afraid of what other people may think of her. When she knew that to live life better is to live to be herself, that is when she was able to break free from what people thought of her. Check out her episode to listen to her story. Check out thetaoofselfconfidence.com for show notes of Victoria's episode, Victoria's website, resources, gifts and so much more.

There were strange things done in the midnight sun as the Bicycle team headed north to celebrate Mark's newly acquired oldness. Unfortunately we are only rated mature instead of WTF so there was some editing there. Top Gear bid adieu to the BBC and morphed into Grand Tour with a bigger budget but the same old blazers. MTV brought us Sweet Vicious, the story of two girls, one nerd, one ninja, with one message for all those bad rapey type college dudes that survived Scream. Zach Galafuckallis stars in Masterminds, yet another caper warning in place, about a bank heist and true love. He also gets added to Mike's Meryl Streep list.

With Thanksgiving looming, we decided to discuss the pitfalls of family events and how well our media portrays them - from the hijinks of HIMYM's Slapsgiving to the Butterball Hotline of The West Wing. We also check in with each other since it's still pretty obvious we're not fully recovered from the election (and won't be for a long time). And, as always, we finish with recommendations for each other. Becca reaffirms her pick with Madam Secretary and adds on the new MTV show Sweet/Vicious.
