Stage actor Shannon Cochran (August: Osage County) brings her horror movie bona fides (The Ring; The Hand That Rocks The Cradle) to the phenomenal new stage play Paranormal Activity, an original new story based on the successful film franchise now running at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre (followed by the Ahmanson Theatre in LA, American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, and the Shakespeare Theater Company in Washington DC). Shannon discusses the precision with which playwright Levi Holloway and director Felix Barrett ratchet up the tension; how everyone has demonic qualities they struggle to suppress (or, as actors, tap into); how to not play the ending; the importance of keeping audiences literally and metaphorically in the dark; and how making audiences laugh in a theatre is not even as great as making audiences jump, scream, and then laugh in a theatre! (Length 20:13) The post Shannon Cochran's ‘Paranormal' appeared first on Reduced Shakespeare Company.

In ep 135 of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, Lance C. Fuller joins Sam and Mark to talk about the feelings inside - and how you can translate them to the mic! How to respect the comedy in a script by not playing it - whether intentionally or not and how to underline points using pace without making the listener think you're underlining them! All that and a wildcard that brings an inanimate object beautifully to life! Our VO question this week is all about how you make sure your message isn't just heard... but it's felt!Get involved! Have you got a Wildcard suggestion that we should try or an idea for the show? Send it to us via Mark or Sam's social media or email it directly to podcast@britishvoiceover.co.ukScript 1You see, before the 1960s, healthcare was the unregulated wild west and some pretty terrible things happened... Soon, healthcare professionals realised regulation was necessary to improve the quality of care, keep patients safe, and make staff productive. So, a number of industry organisations were formed to put standards in place. That's where we come in. We help healthcare organisations and practitioners ensure they're compliant with those industry standards. And in doing this, we also help them get paid faster and improve their operational efficiency and prevent them from being fined or shut down.Script 2From studio 7H in Lolla Plaza, New York City, and in collaboration with N-A-R Studios in Los Angeles, California, I'm Mason Lane and this is Cold Case Crime Cuts. Stories inched apart, stories coaxed outside. Restoring, repainting and revarnishing faded shades of story, from first to last and back again. Stories that sing. Or have been sung. In song. Listen out for them, maybe before you listen to this. Episode 7: Smooth Criminal. In this interview, she also talks about her other recent books including a history of women drawing comics during World War II, a graphic novel version of a short story collection originally written by her father in Yiddish, and a graphic novel based on a work by British author Sax Rohmer. Trina Robbins was clothing designer for Los Angeles rock and roll bands in the 1960s and for the Warhol factory in New York. "We all have our identity journeys.” - Princess Sarah Culberson  During her teenage years, Princess Sarah Culberson began to get curious about her identity, biological history, and even who she looked like. Once embarking on her journey, she learned that her biological mother died when she was 11, and her father lived in a village in Sierra Leone, West Africa. From him, she learned about her royal family, and that she is a Mahaloi, the granddaughter of a Paramount Chief, which meant Sarah is a princess. During today's show, Dr. Michelle Robin invites Princess Sarah to share more of her story and the search for her family – and the extraordinary things that began to happen when her two worlds came together into one story. She also shares how her adoptive parents played a vital and positive role in learning more about her roots – plus, how their response and engagement in their community taught her about confidence. To end the show, she will also provide her best guidance to listeners around building confidence and identity, adding that if we don't take care of ourselves, it can be very difficult to operate in the world. About Today's Guest:  Princess Sarah was born in Morgantown, West Virginia, to an African father and white mother. As an infant, she was put into foster care, then adopted by a loving white West Virginia family. She grew up contemplating and dealing with questions about her identity and her biracial roots. She fell in love with theatre in early childhood and won an undergrad acting scholarship to West Virginia University. She earned her MFA at The American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco and joined the Los Angeles acting community. Princess Sarah has danced and acted on stage as well as in films and television. She has been a guest performer with the Urban Latin Dance Theater Company CONTRA-TIEMPO. However, her biggest role so far came when she decided to locate her biological parents.  Mentioned in the Episode:  Princess Sarah's website  SierraLeoneRising.org  Princess Sarah's Facebook  Princess Sarah's Instagram  Advent 2023 LIV Event  A Princess Found book by Princess Sarah  The E Factor book by Dr. Michelle Robin  Water.org  Bridgerton tv series trailer  Queen Charlotte tv series trailer  AdventHealth

In today's episode, we take a closer look at how climate change affected early modern England--especially during the Little Ice Age, a period of global cooling that occurred from the 16th to the 19th century. We explore how this environmental phenomenon influenced the works of Shakespeare and his contemporaries, and what it can teach us about our current global climate crisis. To help us gain a deeper understanding of the issue, we are joined by Sydney Schwindt. Sydney Schwindt wears many hats in the theatre world; she is an actor, director, fight director, and educator. She is a resident artist and climate justice advocate on the engagement team with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival. She is the program developer with the Society of American Fight Directors and is on the advisory board for the Same Boat Theatre Collective. She has taught movement and stage combat at the American Conservatory Theatre's Graduate program and Indiana University.   Sydney shares her expertise on the intersection of climate change and the arts, and how theatre can be used as a tool to raise awareness and promote action on climate issues. We discuss the role that theatre can play in shaping our attitudes towards the environment and how they can inspire us to take action. Finally, we provide listeners with resources to get involved in the fight against climate change, from simple actions that can be taken in our daily lives to organizations that are making a difference. Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Emmy Winning Actress, Author and Animal Advocate, Carolyn HennesyAbout Harvey's guestA Los Angeles native and self proclaimed studio-brat, Carolyn has been in over 100 theatrical productions spanning the LA, regional and international theatre scenes.   If you ask her nicely she'll recite the list of her plays for you and then she'll recite it again…backwards.  Having trained at American Conservatory Theatre and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London as well as earning a dramatic scholarship to the California State University at Northridge, she has played such distinguished houses as the Mark Taper Forum, Arizona Theatre Company and the Geary Stage.  She also studied with the Groundlings in the early ‘90s and became a member of the Sunday Company.  From there she moved to the main company at the ACME Comedy Theatre and was a founding member of the all-female improv troupe, “Ovaryaction”.  She is the 2001 recipient of the prestigious Natalie Schafer Award for Outstanding Comedic Actress given by the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle and has been featured as an “Actor's Actor” in the industry publication Backstage-West.   Among other accolades, the LA Stage Alliance has honored her with an Ovation Award, which she hosted in 2011, and in 2010 she added the words “Emmy nominated” (General Hospital) to her list of achievements. Most recently,  Carolyn dazzled as the deliciously vicious “Rosalyn Harris” on Alan Ball's critically acclaimed HBO series TRUE BLOOD.  Hennesy joined the cast for the fifth season of the sleek vampires-meet-world saga and fast became a fan favorite.  As Rosalyn, the ageless vamp with a Texas twang, Hennesy was at the top of her game, tossing one-liners like firecrackers, occasionally enjoying a juicy stake, and gleefully partaking in old-timey interrogation.Prior to TRUE BLOOD, Hennesy is best known for her memorable work as “Barb Coman” on ABC's COUGAR TOWN and for an Emmy nominated run as “Diane Miller” on ABC's GENERAL HOSPITAL.  Kids across America also know her as the hilariously haughty Mrs. Chesterfield on Disney Channel's JESSIE.  On the big screen, Hennesy's credits include CLICK starring Adam Sandler, LEGALLY BLONDE 2 with Reese Witherspoon, and TERMINATOR 3 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.Hennesy's creative endeavors also include a successful career as a writer.  She created the wildly popular “Pandora” (Bloomsbury USA) children's book series as well as penned the New York Times Bestseller “The Secret Life of Damian Spinelli” (Hyperion).  To see more, click on “Books.”When not on set, Hennesy is privileged to lend her time and talent to a number of causes including caring for our wounded warriors and helping those with debilitating physical issues regain their self-esteem, but chief among all causes is the issue of animal rescue. Now, all of that is well and good, but the big news is that Carolyn has become a flying trapeze artist.  No lie.  Just look at her hands.  If you really want to get her talking, just ask her, “Hey Carolyn, how's that layout coming along?!”For more interviews and podcasts go to: https://www.harveybrownstoneinterviews.com https://carolynhennesy.com/https://www.facebook.com/pages/Carolyn-Hennesy-Fan-Page/219399211420702https://twitter.com/carolynhennesy#carolynhennesy  #harveybrownstoneinterviews

Over two decades as an activist, Andrew worked on a variety of voter initiatives which legalized medical and adult-use cannabis in San Francisco, Washington D.C, and the State of California. As a co-founder and advisor to Harborside, Andrew has pioneered legal cannabis business processes and provided groundbreaking political engagement and thought leadership to the cannabis community — leading the design and development of gold-standard cannabis retail by innovating many “firsts” for the industry.
