In this episode of The Impostor Syndrome Files, we explore what it means to build a career with clarity when the path isn't linear. My guest this week is Sabine Hutchison, CEO, author of Beyond the Ladder and founder of the Ripple Network.Sabine shares her journey from scientist to entrepreneur and challenges the idea that you need one clear passion or a perfectly mapped-out path. She introduces a more flexible approach to career growth, one that embraces curiosity, experimentation and change. In our conversation, we talk about why so many people feel pressure to climb the traditional ladder and how that expectation fuels self-doubt. Sabine explains why most careers are actually “zigzags” and how clarity comes from experience, not from having all the answers upfront. We also discuss practical ways to build clarity in real time, including reflection practices, documenting insights as they happen and integrating personal development into the workday. Sabine shares why collaboration accelerates growth and why success is never a solo effort. Finally, we explore what it looks like to define ambition on your own terms and how to confidently communicate your path, even when it doesn't follow conventional expectations.About My GuestSabine Hutchison is the CEO & Co-Founder of Seuss+, author of Beyond the Ladder, and host of Be the Ripple Podcast. A scientist-turned-entrepreneur, she's passionate about helping leaders and organizations redefine success through clarity, courage, and connection. Sabine has spoken at World Woman Davos, FemTech Life Science Integrates, and Reuters Pharma on leadership, resilience, and equity. This highly sought after lecturer is on a mission to educate and enlighten the world about the toxic factors that exist in our environment and their direct relationship to health, functional metabolism and disease.  His current seminar that he delivers to both Medical Anti-Aging Conferences, cancer conferences and medical schools world-wide, makes both professionals and the public aware of the omnipresent threats present in our immediate environment and gives insightful plans of remediation.  "The goal of anti-aging and integrative physicians is to optimize the physiological function of the body. In an effort to help people move from the chronological clock to the physiological clock, we must find a way to diminish the harmful environmental factors and extend the current diminishing life span.”   This researching author acts as a consultant and educator for several multinational nutritional companies, is the Senior Associate Dean at the Health Optimization Coaching Academy and has advised several governments on electromagnetic radiation effects, and has been involved as a lecturer with the Truth About Cancer (TTAC) series that has been seen by more than thirty million people. Dr. Fisher speaks internationally on anti-aging, nutrition, wellness, cancer, and immunology and maintains a global consulting practice for those with significant health issues.  He has written many articles for trade publications and is a featured guest on many radio and television broadcasts.  In addition to authoring twenty health oriented books, his research has also been published in peer-reviewed journals.  His books and lectures have been translated into twelve languages and are sold in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.    Being widely recognized for his ability to easily assimilate what many view as daunting scientific and clinical information, Dr. Fisher transforms essential knowledge that would otherwise remain inaccessible to the public into readily available life-altering information.  The foundation of his philosophy rests upon understanding and exposing the true nutritional and environmental deficiencies that exist in our everyday lives, and scouring the planet for the most efficient solutions to not only solving these threatening health issues, but improving the well-being and overall quality of life for everyone.  His common sense approach to explaining the impact of our environmental factors to the health of the world makes it easy for his audience to make informed choices towards bettering their lives. He has spent decades advising people and designing natural protocols that have allowed them to restore their health and return to productive lives.     Connect with Dr. Howard Fisher: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dr-howard-fisher-9063305/ https://www.hocacademy.info/dr-howard-fisher https://www.facebook.com/people/Dr-Howard-Fisher/100056738961598/ MTH - Moringa Total Health Moringa Total Health (MTH) is a complete, comprehensive, natural, vegan formula providing a potent blend of organic nutrient-dense Moringa oleifera and the world's most powerful superfoods. So... this is the podcast I think I meant to start back in 2020, but it took me over 2 years to come to a place where I was ready to share all of this with you.  The beautiful and wise Brene' Brown has a quote that one day the story of what you have gone through will become someone else's survival guide...    This podcast is my story.   We will be offering this more gossipy and fun version of the story behind the wisdom as a companion to the more Educational Thursday editions of Create the Ripple Podcast.    Stay tuned here for stories that will make you cry, laugh, cringe and think - with a very girlfriends-over-coffee (or wine) feel.  Sometimes it will just be me sharing candidly with you solo, sometimes I will have a guest or two.   Thanks for your ongoing and continued support of the content I am creating.  Thank you to my team who helps me get this content out to you.  This would be impossible without you.   Much love.  CS   For full unedited episodes of Create the Ripple Podcast, including the pre-chat and other exclusive content, check out our Patreon!    patreon.com/CandiceSmiley   Like what you hear? You probably know by now how passionate I am about living an intentional life and doing things your own way, and I think it's fair to say that my guest today is equally as passionate about it! Candice Smiley is a mom, speaker, writer, blogger, social marketer, host of Create the Ripple Podcast and essentialist who loves to engage in interesting conversations. And this chat we had was definitely one of those! We dive into some deep conversations about what it means to live life our own way including:   Trusting the niggle (which Candice says is always an inconvenient truth!) The journey of healing from trauma, including holding ourselves during healing and emerging on the other side. Radical forgiveness, acceptance, grace, self-compassion and self-love Embracing the dark days. How we're (literally) putting ourselves in boxes. The concept of essentialism (have what you want, but have less, so you can have better) including living in a tiny home and who and what you surround yourself with. The anxiety of things (possessions). Doing things that don't make sense to other people, but knowing it's right for you, by tuning into what we want and what makes us happy. Setting boundaries with people when they express their “concern” because your choices make them uncomfortable. The lie we've been told about how we're supposed to be living our life Embracing the duality and contradictions of life (eg. The masculine and feminine, the yin and yang that we all have within us). Why we both think it's important to share our stories, especially the messy beautiful bits. Not being modelled healthy intimate relationships when we're growing up, including the different types of love, how to love and what “good” love looks like.   Check out more episodes of This Messy, Beautiful Life Podcast: https://www.hivecollective.com.au/the-podcast   Erin O'Donoghue is a coach and mindset mentor, recovering over thinker and imperfect human on a mission to live an intentional life and support others along the way. She's all about mind, body, soul healing and supporting people to be their best. In life and work.    With a background in Human Resources, Strategy and Innovation, Erin left the corporate world in 2018 to start her own business. Since then she's been undoing a lot of ingrained habits and behaviours, particularly the heavy reliance on the masculine energy of doing, achieving and hustling. These days she leans much more into the feminine energy of flow, creativity, receiving and trusting her intuition. As she's more deeply connected to herself and her purpose she now realises that her diverse experience, multi passionate approach and inability to fit in a box is her super power! Today I interview Candice Smiley (and yes! That's really her last name!) Candice is a mom, podcaster, social marketer and essentialist who loves to engage in interesting conversations with other influencers and entrepreneurs.  Her favorite conversations are the ones that take courage to engage in.  (Check out her podcast, Create the Ripple Podcast)   She has learned the power of saying no, listening to your own heart and speaks openly about subtle abuse as it occurs in relationships - personally and professionally.   She's become a voice for listening to your own truth and speaking it clearly, powerfully - at home, at work and in your life.  She spends her time living - in a tiny home (250 sq ft), traveling, speaking and sharing candidly with others how to live life after betrayal, to trust themselves, speak up for themselves and set powerful boundaries.   Connect with Amy Sanders: Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/261373872245132 Instagram https://www.instagram.com/coachamysanders/ Website https://luckysanders.com/   Podcast https://luckysanders.com/podcast LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/luckysanders/   ---   Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/married2point0/support

Sisters, Amy and Nancy Harrington, founded The Passionistas Project out of a deep desire to empower women around the world. Both co-founders walked away from high-profile jobs in Hollywood to work together. Amy was the Vice President of Visual Effects and Post Production for all feature films at Warner Bros, working on movies like "The Matrix" and "Space Jam." Nancy left the ad agency where she created Academy Award campaigns for Miramax. Now Amy and Nancy shine a light on the positive stories of women on The Passionistas Project Podcast. They have conducted more than 60 one-on-one oral histories for The Interviews for the Television Academy Foundation, including in-depth conversations with Cindy Williams and Penny Marshall, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Ed O'Neill, Danny DeVito, and more. At the Emmys and other press events, Amy and Nancy have chatted with many stars including Rita Moreno, Lily Tomlin, Laverne Cox, Deepak Chopra, Carol Burnett, and many others. They have also produced interviews for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame including a sit down with Mick Jagger. They were handpicked by OWN to be part of the VIP digital press corps covering "Oprah's Lifeclass" during Winfrey's tour of the U.S. and Toronto. Amy and Nancy founded The Passionistas Project in 2018 and through their podcast, subscription box, and events, they strive to inspire women to follow their passions and join forces in the fight for equality for all. Coming out of this, she encountered her own “Me Too” moment dealing with sexual coercion and harassment in her professional life; saying no resulted in her being the target of gossip that tarnished her reputation.    Deeply affected by the gaslighting and the experiences, she adopted a minimalist lifestyle, leaned on her personal network and practiced radical personal forgiveness, acceptance and responsibility.  The journey was not without its impact and Candice shares powerfully about dealing with anxiety, depression, shame and learning to let go.   When grief rocked her world a little less than 2 years ago, Candice knew it was time to stop her life, hit the pause button and finally do the deep work to heal her heart, self and mindset.  Emerging from this place, Candice has begun to embrace her fierce and receptive feminine nature.  The journey to be and embrace all the parts of herself has led her to the place to start her wildly successful Create the Ripple Podcast; Trust the Niggle and Tell the Truth - where she features other amazing guests who are not afraid to do the hard work of personal development, listen to their own minds/heart and then speak up and out for those things that matter; to themselves and to make a difference in the world.   Candice loves her essentialist lifestyle for the beauty and freedom it offers her.  She can never resist the urge to take off her boots to walk barefoot into a clear mountain lake or stream. When she is not connecting or writing, she can be found disappearing into the backcountry trails of Canada with her life-love Mark and losing herself exploring waterfalls and mountain trails. She is a quiet introvert who adores eating clean foods and reading a great book.     For Website and Social Links: https://candicesmiley.carrd.co   DISCLOSURE: I USE MY WEBSITE  AND SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS TO CREATE THE INCOME THAT SUPPORTS MY LIFESTYLE. You are a wise woman. You have within you all the knowing you need... we tend to forget this or in some cases have this part of ourselves knocked out of us. Erin, Ellie and I wander through conversation that will wake you up and remind you, it is safe for you to know your true self, show up as that self every day and that the world needs you to show up to and for yourself - for such a time as this.  ** “The value that we have right now is in honoring ourselves, honoring what our souls are telling us is necessary for us to be the change. For us to step up and embrace our feminine power.” -Erin Hodgson  Ellie Bell: Is a certified life coach who uses her intuition to empower and support women to build unshakable confidence in themselves. She works with successful heart-centered women to navigate their journey of self-discovery; her approach incorporates her coachability, shadow work, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and other healing modalities. She believes that in order to find wholeness, there needs to be an acknowledgment of the parts of us that are not deemed acceptable by society; there needs to be a willingness to uncover the wounds and scars we gain during life; to understand the impact they have on our sense of being, and the opportunities that open up when you're ready to up-level your life. Ellie works with clients to help them stop looking for external validation and understand that they have all they need within themselves. Ellie had a successful career in sports administration for over 12 years which included roles such as head of marketing and comms and event director at Cricket World Cup. She's originally from the UK and moved to New Zealand in 2013 for her role with CWC15 where she met her now-husband. Much of the work she does today is inspired by her wish to create a better world for her two daughters. Erin Hodgson: For almost 38 years of my life, I had little awareness of the importance of spirituality, engaging with the natural world, and embracing the feminine and elemental energies inside me.   At 38, my spiritual awakening was long overdue, yet very unexpected. Until that point, I believed that intellect, action, and power were the keys to success. I had spent years striving, failing, pushing for more, and finding myself increasingly unsatisfied by any of it.   When I discovered the power of understanding that I am a spiritual being, having a human experience and that everything is energy, I began to realise just how little I actually knew of myself and who I am at my core. The more I delved into that awareness and started to explore what it looked like for me, the more I felt a growing sense of ease and calm, at a deep soul level. I began to connect with my intuition, with spirit, with the energies that allow me to co-create a different reality for myself.I learned about healing through working with ancestors, past lives, akashic records, body testing, and more. I learned how to expand and grow through embracing my connection to natural cycles, the four elements of fire, earth, air, and water, and the sacred feminine. While learning more about who I am, as a spiritual being, I have spent hours unpacking my belief systems, the learned behaviours and programs that come from generations of women being undervalued and held back, from a society that heavily favours the masculine, from oppressive systems designed by men to ensure a society that thrives upon power, inequality, and competition. As I navigated the necessary healing and releasing of some of those wounds, I found myself in a position of true power, internal power, with the capacity to share my new truth with others and, in turn, encourage them to engage their curiosity and find their own truth. I don't know how to let people do things for me because I don't feel worthy enough to receive. Now I have worked through the unworthy stuff. Learn how to stay when it feels impossible. Just learn to stay because when we're moving away from all of our history, from our trauma, it sometimes feels like you will not get through it. Learn to stay and you'll find hope.” -Bob Wheeler   “Ask for help even if you have to ask 20 or 50 times. You just haven't found the right person. It only takes one yes to shift your life and it's worth it.” -Bob Wheeler          As a man of true integrity with infectious energy, Bob Wheeler's crusade for personal growth has cross-pollinated with his accounting practice to create a new approach to personal finances. His passion is to help others gain insights about how their emotions trigger financial decisions. Combining finances with behaviors, Bob explores his personal concept of creating a healthy relationship with money in his book, The Money Nerve: Navigating The Emotions Of Money, his online course, Mastering The Emotions Of Money and his podcast, Money You Should Ask. TRIGGER WARNING - We discuss abuse and trauma in this episode, so if that content isn't for you, please exercise your discretion with this episode.   This might have been one of the most important conversations I've had about healing your trauma yet. Learn about fawning as a trauma response.  Why it's likely that you have done this, or might still be; and why it's important to acknowledge the behaviour and stop it.   This is a podcast for anyone who finds themselves dating “down” or who feel unworthy of love - wholly.  ** “Have self-compassion and self trust for all of those voices that are untrue because they are the voices of your wounded child or the wounded part that was injured by abuse. It could be physical, emotional, sexual and even substance abuse.” -Nischa Phair  Nischa Phair is an author, researcher, trauma informed sex educator and the founder of  SomaBody Trauma Informed Pleasure Work®.  She has been a trauma-informed teacher, facilitator and  embodiment coach for 14 years working with thousands  of clients in that time.  Nischa initially began studying the connections  between fawning and sex in 2016 to better understand  her own experiences. She now works almost exclusively  with female survivors and those recovering from toxic  relationships to help them address fawning during  intimacy and heal their relationships to pleasure.  “Fawn: When No Looks Like Yes” is the first book to  ever be written about fawning in the context of sex  and consent. In addition to sounding the alarm, Phair  attempts to answer the million-dollar question: “how  can sex and intimacy thrive in a post-#metoo, post pandemic reality?” Part exposé, part self-study guide,  part memoir, “Fawn” is a rousing call to celebrate our  authentic sexuality and to invite more intention and  integrity into our sex lives and relationships, whether  they be casual or long term.  Connect with Nischa Phair: https://www.nischaphair.com/ https://www.instagram.com/nischaphair/   Grab your copy of Nischa Phair's book Fawn: When No Looks Like Yes here: https://www.nischaphair.com/fawn-book We love our collabs!  Check this out! https://www.awakeningthewisewoman.com/a/2147504394/p9ZFkwiZ   Awakening The Wise Woman: https://www.awakeningthewisewoman.com/she-awakens   Rachel Shumway - How to Bad-Ass It By Your Boundaries Starter Kit: https://www.thebadassacademy.com/ Dr. Mikolaj Raszek (Merogenomics Inc.).: https://merogenomics.ca/ https://www.youtube.com/c/Merogenomics **   “21 years ago I survived a sexual assault from my boyfriend.  14 years ago I decided not to kill myself.  11 years ago I was left with 350 k worth of bad debt.  9 years ago I walked away rather than endure sexual coercion and harassment from my boss. 7 years ago I welcomed my beautiful daughter into the world.  5 years ago I left my marriage to fall in love with myself. 3 years ago I allowed myself to fully heal and reconnect with my feminine;  2 years ago I rebuilt my life, moved into my own tiny home and found my Lifetime Love.  Last year, I started my podcast and welcomed my baby boy earth side." With over 350 thousand dollars worth of bad debt, Candice was forced to rebuild her life, her credit and her trust in herself. Create The Ripple Podcast
A conversation about change and leadership during Black History month with Anika Wilson

I am joined by the beautiful Anika Wilson as we discuss leadership, being a woman of color and how I fear the angry black woman.  As always this is a conversation about topics that really matter - and today's is about how subtly and insidiously racial prejudices and stereotypes are... and what the heck I can do about them.         ** “If a black woman starts ranting and raving in the way that we talk culturally using our hands or anything else, we're a threat. And God forbid we say something valuable or we do something valuable, oftentimes it's stolen. In order to be credible in this society either I have to have a lot of money for marketing or I have to have letters behind my name for someone to feel that I have a right to say whatever I want to say. That's our true journey.”  -Anika Wilson   “If you get to know someone that doesn't look like you, you will learn that you actually want those same things. You want a good life. You want safety for your children. If you're a faithful person and you believe in God or whatever you believe in, it's the same things that you want for your children, the same things you want for your career, the same things you want for your life. The difference is, the pathway to those things is completely different because for blacks it's like qualifying for track and field in the Olympics. Where there's a hurdle and another hurdle. After you jump over that hurdle, then there's another hurdle. And the stronger you are, the more people put hurdles in your way.” -Anika Wilson   “Educate yourself and immerse yourself in the culture. Talk to people at church, at work, just ask them questions about themselves, their families, or how they grew up, because believe it or not - all blacks aren't the same.” -Anika Wilson   “For me, black women specifically are born leaders. And I say that because leadership is about resilience. It's about what you learn from what you experience, what you learn from adversity and how you overcome it.” -Anika Wilson “Unfortunately leadership development is not offered to women like me. The fact is that black women aren't afforded leadership development so we continue to be under compensated. We continue to be overlooked. We continue to be discounted and misunderstood because we're not given the structure that everybody else has been given. And I can say the same in business development.”-Anika Wilson “Don't let anyone impact your leadership abilities. If someone tells you that you're supposed to do such and such, but your heart tells you you're supposed to do something. Follow your intuition, your intuition is your gift, and that is your protection. So honor your authentic self, create your own identity and blaze the trails with it. And don't look back.” -Anika Wilson Anika Wilson, is a respected thought leader, executive coach, trainer, speaker, podcast host, conference curator, and business consultant. Anika specializes in systematic solutions through strategic planning for organizations. Her integrative approach to life, business, and leadership incorporate her lived experiences, education, and passion for excellence. She believes that everyone has the potential to work, live and lead their lives, businesses, and families with excellence with the Strategic Success Solution.   Anika has always been a trailblazer for a woman well before my time. Her passion for advocacy began at the age of 14. Leadership was an early calling in college as she served as the president of two Criminal Justice professional fraternal organizations, committing to a career in law enforcement. She was promoted rapidly in the Florida Department of Corrections. She pivoted into the clinical world of mental health, child welfare, and long-term care. After working in social services and government for two decades, she founded Nobody Greater, LLC. At Nobody Greater, she educates, empowers, and equips women with tangible resources to restore their faith in purpose, passion, and people through optimal business solutions. Advocating for others is not solely a business, it's her lifestyle of choice. Understanding the complexities of life, love, pain, hardship, and lack of resources, she ensures that no one suffers in silence, no one is left behind and no one is lost in the shuffle of life. What happens when leaders stop listening? What happens when they use their power or rather, abuse their power, to shut down and shame? I guess I have an expectation of leadership; the expectation that they will behave better, think bigger, respond from a place of established emotional maturity. That is to say, they will hold lightly to their personal beliefs to do that powerful thing to listen.     What if more leaders could hear and hold space for conversations with people who did not share their values and beliefs? What if we/us/them could know and trust our own selves enough to allow space for someone else. To disagree.    ** “In holding your values and your beliefs lightly, you allow the grace and space that you need to have when your values come in conflict with each other.” -Candice Smiley   “A leader is somebody who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.” -Candice Smiley “May we have the courage to take the time, to know our own selves, to know our own boundaries, to trust our own niggles that tell ourselves our own truth, and then to live out from that space of integrity and not lose ourselves, not bully those people. Not use our power or misuse our power.” -Candice Smiley     Mayor Withholding Funds: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/arts/mississippi-mayor-withholds-library-funds-over-lgbtq-books         Create the Ripple Podcast Ep.28 (Danielle Reed) - How Important is knowing your personal values in your day-to-day life? https://www.candicesmiley.com/episode-028 Create the Ripple Podcast Ep.52 (Roe vs Wade) - Why the Roe vs Wade issue is uncomfortable, dividing and must be talked about (Part 1) https://www.candicesmiley.com/e52-roe-vs-wade-dabate-with-candice Dr. Mikolaj Raszek (Merogenomics Inc.).: https://merogenomics.ca/ https://www.youtube.com/c/Merogenomics Episode Transcriptions: https://www.candicesmiley.com/podcast-archive We love our collabs!  Check this out! https://www.awakeningthewisewoman.com/a/2147504394/p9ZFkwiZ   Awakening The Wise Woman: https://www.awakeningthewisewoman.com/she-awakens **   “21 years ago I survived a sexual assault from my boyfriend. Last year, I started my podcast and welcomed my baby boy earth side." Rachel Shumway joins me to have a beautiful, candid, and unscripted conversation. This is about two healed trauma survivors who connect on anger, acceptance and being unafraid to be messy in our own journey to heal more fully and share with total transparency.     ** “In a partnership, I think we have to be able to be vulnerable and have that trust. First of all, it takes time. Second of all, having the expectation that it is going to be easy to have that vulnerability is setting us up for massive failure when it does happen.” -Rachel Shumway    “Resilience is building a container within your mind, within your body, a relationship with yourself and with your pain that it's going to pass, that it's okay. You are still lovable, worthy and infinitely capable of processing this pain, even though it doesn't feel good.” -Rachel Shumway  Rachel is an Emotional Literacy Expert who delivers keynote presentations and workshops that provide audiences with enjoyment in learning emotions and create solid foundations for navigating through life challenges. Her favorite space is in a 1-1 client session where she guides clients through all the feels and builds systems to help them demystify feelings.    Rachel obtained her BS of Exercise and Wellness from BYU Provo and certified as a Life Coach through The Life Coach School. TRIGGER WARNING - We discuss abortions in this episode, so if that content isn't for you, please exercise your discretion with this episode. Carmen Cervantes is a woman who never thought she would be a mother, by her own conscious choice.  When she and her husband found themselves unexpectedly pregnant they consciously decided that they would have an abortion.  Then, they changed their minds...     I have a lot of respect for Carmen because she has entered into motherhood with her eyes wide open to the challenges she would face, the physical impact, the exhaustion and the financial strain.  Despite the fact that we would have made different choices to start with, we are completely aligned in our desire to be conscious parents.  (I would have respected her choice either way FYI!)   We are both women who are horrified at the thought that abortions might be made illegal in the states if Roe vs. Wade is reversed.  We talk about this in this podcast.  So trigger warning for those of you who might be sensitive to this sort of conversation.   It's also on my heart to say, if you are a woman who wishes she could be pregnant, you have a big hug coming from me...  I know conversations like this might be hard to hear... but I feel strongly that we must be talking powerfully about keeping our choice and body autonomy.  For you, for me, for our daughters and for the women around the globe who would feel the reverse of Roe so much more than we would!    #RiseSisterRise  **   “Our history, our trauma, the way that we were raised, the place we grew up, everything enforms the decisions that we're going to make as mothers.”  - Carmen Cervantes   “Nobody can tell you what's right for you.” - Carmen Cervantes   “There's this whole idea about creating this ideal norm that nobody can measure up to, nor should we aspire to do that. We should embrace the fact that we're all different and that we all have different needs, live, and let live.” - Carmen Cervantes   “We need to stop comparing ourselves, stop putting our own perception on others. Just take care of yourself, take care of your family. And hopefully you can learn to take care of others.”  - Carmen Cervantes “There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they're falling in.” ― Desmond Tutu “What would happen if one woman told the truth about her life? The world would split open.”― Muriel Rukeyser Carmen Cervantes is the host of the podcast Mother Mami Mom. She curates a space that helps mothers shed the idealized fantasy of motherhood and embrace their own journey through all of its ups and downs. She is passionate about bringing mother's stories to the forefront and strives to encourage women in motherhood through community. She has learned that most women feel like they are failing as moms and hopes to create a collective shift in consciousness by showing up with curiosity instead of judgment so that all women can begin to truly enjoy their own motherhood journey. Create The Ripple Podcast
Why the Roe vs. Wade issue is uncomfortable, dividing and must be talked about (Part 1)

Trigger Warning.    This is a Tell the Truth personal podcast that might be triggering for some.  Saturday, January 22nd marked the 49th anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court ruling.  That landmark moment is now being threatened as the political landscape has changed in the last few years.  Now, in this podcast I am endeavoring to NOT go into the political or the religious beliefs around this that are so polarizing; but rather to ask my listeners to pull themselves away from the single abortion issue to the grander women empowerment and equality issue.     I share some uncomfortable statistics, and honestly, I think those are the tip of the iceberg and there are many more ways women are paying the price financially, physically, mentally and emotionally when they are forced to carry to term children that men refuse to acknowledge or support.  I am surprised at how well men have pitted women against each other for centuries and we seem to keep falling back into the trap where we argue against each other as women for different views, while we fail to see the bigger issue.  The way the guy "penetrates the scared" and then seems to slip away.  What a tax on the system when it's the single women who are raising the children, while the men refuse to pay fair child support; using their words and their money to scare them, to financially abuse them - while other men wouldn't want to "date a single mom".  The shame continues and increases.    While the women are threatened with punishment for even considering an abortion, and the men who fathered those children are "celebrated" for "sowing their seeds".  White conservative men of privilege who still, in the awakened world of 2022, want to somehow control the reproductive rights of women.  There is a worldwide gaslighting campaign going on ladies.  Enough is enough.   It's time to wake up and rise up. If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, please contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673) or go to rainn.org  “We know that we are, as women are rising, but we have to be doing a better job. I think of rising together.” - Candice Smiley “We have to be doing a better job of being willing to powerfully, compassionately and beautifully set aside our differences, holding our values lightly. Not letting go of our own personal integrity and standing in our own power. Speaking our truth.” - Candice Smiley  Connect with Candice Smiley: https://www.instagram.com/candicecreation/?hl=en https://www.youtube.com/c/CandiceSmiley/featured https://ca.linkedin.com/in/candicesmiley https://www.tiktok.com/@candicesmiley.com? https://www.candicesmiley.com/blog https://www.candicesmiley.com/ https://www.instagram.com/createtheripplepodcast/ https://www.candicesmiley.com/podcast-archive Mentioned in the episode: https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/3755/text https://people.com/health/this-weekend-might-be-the-last-anniversary-of-roe-v-wade/ “And the people who are most impacted by these abortion restrictions and bans are people of color, low-income individuals, young people and LGBTQ individuals — people who are already burdened with insufficient access to healthcare."
