We're talking about Old Dog and ThunderCats today on the Cryptid Creator Corner as I welcome Declan Shalvey to the podcast. I was lucky enough this past March to celebrate my 45th birthday in Ireland and as part of the celebration go to Dublin Comic Con and meet Declan. I knew once I was back home I had to get Declan on the podcast to chat about comics. We discuss his early days in comics, Dublin Comic Con, plus some of his work like Savage Town, Bog Bodies, Time Before Time, Old Dog, and ThunderCats. It was great hearing about Declan's approach to storytelling, both writing and art. I could have chatted with Declan for another 2 hours, but Penny came upstairs while recording to tell me the laundry room "smells like burning" and I had to wrap things up to investigate. Be sure to check out Declan's website and sign up for his very excellent newsletter. I've been very lucky recently to chat with some of my favorite creators working in comics right now and I think you're going to enjoy listening to this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it. Thundercats from the publisher: Fleeing through space to escape their dying home world, the ThunderCats were attacked en route by their mortal enemies, the Mutants of Plun-Darr. After diverting their damaged flagship to a planet called Third Earth, the surviving ThunderCats now strive to rebuild their society in harmony with the new world's natives. But the Mutants, determined to possess the ThunderCats' mystical gem, the Eye of Thundera, have tracked them down - and they've also forged an alliance with Mumm-Ra, the devil-priest of Third Earth! Now the ThunderCats, led by an inexperienced Lion-O, must band together as never before to protect their legacy from this combined enemy. But will they be able to withstand the onslaught of Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living, once he sets his eyes upon them? The triple-threat talents (writers, artists, and ThunderCats superfans) of DECLAN SHALVEY and DREW MOSS join forces to bring this exciting new entry in the ThunderCats canon to life! Old Dog from the publisher: Jack Lynch was a once-promising CIA operative. On the eve of retirement, looking back at a failed career, he is tasked with one final mission...that goes horribly wrong. He wakes years later to a changed world and deeper changes within him. When a shadow group offers Lynch a second chance at a life of adventure, he's paired with the last person he could ever imagine. In order to adjust, this old dog will have to learn some new tricks... OLD DOG is a striking new spy-fi series by DECLAN SHALVEY, the accomplished and innovative creator behind books such as Moon Knight, X-Men Unlimited, INJECTION, and TIME BEFORE TIME. Time Before TimeInterview with Dan Dubose and Beau DuboseIn this My Life Now episode, Dallas interviews Dan Dubose and Beau Dubose, father-son duo and authors of "Time Before Time".About the Book:Time Before Time begins with a genius professor (Emerson Whitmore) who is disgruntled with his mainstream scientist peers. His theories on many advanced civilizations developing on Earth over and over across millions of years got him crossways with most mainstream scientists and almost banned from institutions of higher learning. He decides to build a time machine to go see for himself what happened in history. He hires a bodyguard, who is recently retired from the combined space and ground force of the Earth's defense service (John Chantry). Chantry is a big man and an expert in every weapon imaginable, a self-defense expert, and an expert in anti-gravity space combat. Together they make several stops and run into other races from other constellations that have tried to use the Earth for their own purposes.Buy Your Copy of the Book: https://a.co/d/ddAoy0z Thank you for listening to and supporting the My Life Now podcast show. Welcome to The Whole Testament, a podcast putting the Old and New Testaments back together.Check out this episode on Youtube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLD0RQ6O1JU&tJim returns to give us an extremely unique story this week in the next episode of the Summer Smorgasbord series. If you want to know what we mean by "appetizer" or want to listen to any of the previous audio podcasts you can find them at thewholetestament.com, Apple Podcasts and Spotify. If you have any questions leave a comment below or you can contact us at info@thewholetestament.com. What is with the “Appetizer, Entrée, and Dessert” talk? Hebrews 5:11 About this we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, 13 for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. 14 But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.” The writer of the book of Hebrews is telling the readers that until they become skilled in the “oracles” of God they will only be drinking milk. The Oracles of God most often refer to the Old Testament. We want people to be fully mature in their faith and so we are trying to teach the “Oracles” of God. The meat. So our Podcasts are set up like a three course meal. You have appetizers which get you started on a topic and give you some moments to think about. They are shorter and easier to digest. The entrée episodes are more in depth and might take some work to grasp the fullness of the passages or topics being discussed. Finally, the dessert episodes are often more conversation and usually an interview with real people trying to live out what has already been discussed. So join us for the full meal!

I would seriously appreciate it! __________________________________________________ Carl Edward Sagan (November 9, 1934 – December 20, 1996) was an American astronomer, planetary scientist, cosmologist, astrophysicist, astrobiologist, science communicator, author, and professor. His best known scientific contribution is his research on the possibility of extraterrestrial life, including experimental demonstration of the production of amino acids from basic chemicals by radiation. He assembled the first physical messages sent into space, the Pioneer plaque and the Voyager Golden Record, which were universal messages that could potentially be understood by any extraterrestrial intelligence that might find them. He argued in favor of the hypothesis, which has since been accepted, that the high surface temperatures of Venus are the result of the greenhouse effect. Initially an assistant professor at Harvard, Sagan later moved to Cornell, where he spent most of his career. He published more than 600 scientific papers and articles and was author, co-author or editor of more than 20 books. He wrote many popular science books, such as The Dragons of Eden, Broca's Brain, Pale Blue Dot and The Demon-Haunted World. He also co-wrote and narrated the award-winning 1980 television series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage, which became the most widely watched series in the history of American public television: Cosmos has been seen by at least 500 million people in 60 countries. A book, also called Cosmos, was published to accompany the series. Sagan also wrote a science-fiction novel, published in 1985, called Contact, which became the basis for a 1997 film of the same name. His papers, comprising 595,000 items, are archived in the Library of Congress. Stephen William Hawking (8 January 1942 – 14 March 2018) was an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author who, at the time of his death, was director of research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology at the University of Cambridge. Between 1979 and 2009, he was the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, widely viewed as one of the most prestigious academic posts in the world. Hawking's scientific works included a collaboration with Roger Penrose on gravitational singularity theorems in the framework of general relativity, and the theoretical prediction that black holes emit radiation, often called Hawking radiation. Initially, Hawking radiation was controversial. By the late 1970s and following the publication of further research, the discovery was widely accepted as a major breakthrough in theoretical physics. Hawking was the first to set out a theory of cosmology explained by a union of the general theory of relativity and quantum mechanics. He was a vigorous supporter of the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics. Arthur Charles Clarke (16 December 1917 – 19 March 2008) was an English science fiction writer, science writer, futurist, inventor, undersea explorer, and television series host. He co-wrote the screenplay for the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey, widely regarded as one of the most influential films of all time. Clarke was a science fiction writer and a futurist of a distinguished ability. Audio Source: here --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theunadulteratedintellect/support

Django has returned, but it happened so abruptly that he scared Roman and Colette away for the week. That means we've got a solid two-man group - we may be few, and we may be blue, but at least we're true! Also, Jeff is real excited to talk with Django again, so it's a little longer of an episode! Declan Shalvey of Moon Knight and Time Before Time fame joins us to chat about his upcoming book OLD DOG! We delve into his work at Marvel, DC and everything comic book goodness! Be sure to order Old Dog #1 which comes out September 28th!
Welcome to a BONUS EPISODE of Pop Culture Leftovers where we are talking to writer/artist Declan Shalvey about his upcoming Image Comic Book OLD DOG which will be hitting comic book store shelves and online September 28th 2022. I'm joined by Joe Stark from StarkCast and we are loaded with questions to ask Declan about his new creator owned series OLD DOG. This was a fun episode and Declan was a great guest. Here's what you can expect with OLD DOG: Jack Lynch was a once-promising CIA operative. On the eve of retirement, looking back at a failed career, he is tasked with one final mission…that goes horribly wrong. He wakes years later to a changed world and deeper changes within him. When a shadow group offers Lynch a second chance at a life of adventure, he's paired with the last person he could ever imagine. In order to adjust, this old dog will have to learn some new tricks… OLD DOG is a striking new spy-fi series by DECLAN SHALVEY, the accomplished and innovative creator behind books such as Moon Knight, X-Men Unlimited, INJECTION, and TIME BEFORE TIME. Declan is the writer, artist and colorist on this book. Clayton Cowles on letters. This is definitely a huge passion project for Declan and SPOILERS, we loved the book! Happy Friday! Since this was a bit of a quieter week, this episode is mostly over the new comic book day releases that I found to be fantastic, minus Fantastic Four, which was a travesty, and I explain why (written by Dan Slott which I kept mis-remembering while recording, whoops!). The good comics include Karmen #3, Children of the Atom #3, Silk #3, Time Before Time #1, X-Factor #9 (of 10), Silver City #1, Justice League Last Ride #1, Batman the Detective #2, and finally Black Cat #6! After covering NCBD, I have one bit of news surrounding the comic Bitter Root from Image, and it's really exciting news! I wrap up the episode with personal she-geek-life notes about my Black Widow theory, a cool decade-old comic poster I didn't know I had, and some thoughts on the character of Clea, who's reading list I have completed, and will have uploaded to my site later today! www.sensationalshegeek.weebly.com I'll be back on Monday, May 17th for episode 18A, where I will be talking about the upcoming comics pull list, the Bad Batch episode 3, and Castlevania season 4! Have a fulfilling weekend, and always stay sweaty!
This week, it is two great tastes that taste great together as Star Trek: TOS and The Legion of Super-Heroes team to take on a world they didn't create! The Cold War between the US and the Soviet Union is at its peak when the unthinkable happens: nuclear war. Sixty years later, the remaining 13 states rose from the ashes to form the American Union, governed by the authoritarian Joint Chiefs of Staff and protected by a border wall to keep out nuclear radiation . . . and the individuals who were enhanced by it. Nuclear Power is a darkly poignant alternate history of the Cuban Missile Crisis that posits the lengths to which a government will go to protect (or deceive) its citizens. When the Joint Chiefs' dark secrets are revealed, will survivors on both sides of the wall join forces to fight for their right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, or will their differences forever divide them?
