Check out a smattering of the questions asked in this interview below. What sort of themes are you juggling in Seasons? What inspired you to weave these themes together, and how do they relate to the broader human experience? How did you approach building the world of Seasons, and what were some of the unique challenges in creating a story set across different landscapes and "seasons"?Your work often includes flawed and complex protagonists. What can readers expect from the characters in Seasons? You've collaborated with many artists over the years. What drew you to work with Paul Azaceta on this project, and how does his style complement the story?Something so endearing about the first issue is how it seems quite ordinary, yet subtle things like a guy with a jetpack reveal there's more to this world. How do you balance showing too much or showing just enough? If you two were thrown into the world of Seasons, which of you would last the longest, and what ridiculous strategy would you use to survive? So what's The Seasons about?Summer, Winter, Spring and Autumn are the Seasons Sisters, the daughters of the world-renowned Seasons Detectives. Ten years ago, their famous parents disappeared. Left to raise themselves, the sisters formed an unbreakable bond. Now that bond is tested as the sisters fall prey to sinister forces. The youngest sister, Spring, is the last hope of saving them from a fate worse than death. Will Spring be able to piece her shattered family back together before it's too late for them all?RICK REMENDER (BLACK SCIENCE) and PAUL AZACETA (OUTCAST) weave an elevated tale of whimsical horror unlike anything ever experienced in comics and it all starts with this double-length premiere issue!
Jace is joined by veteran comic creators Rick Remender and Paul Azaceta to talk all aboout their upcoming project from Image Comics under the Giant Generator imprint, The Seasons. Summer, Winter, Spring and Autumn are the Season Sisters and the daughters of the world famous Seasons Detectives. Ten years ago, their parents disappeared under mysterious circumstances which brought the girls closer together. They may need those close bonds more than ever though, as something sinister is coming. Rick and Paul talk about the feel of the story they want to tell and how they are bringing something new and exciting to the visuals for this book. It's clear from the art we have seen from Paul so far, their is an air of whimsy to the story that will, perhaps, balace out the more thrilling aspects of the story.

I may have mentioned back during Season 1 just how great Cinemax's 'Outcast' series, based on the Images Comics series by Robert Kirkman and Paul Azaceta, is! Well, I hope you listened because Season 2 is airing right now and it is just as great! To celebrate the show's return, I sat down with series star Patrick Fugit and showrunner Chris Black and talked about the uniqueness of this supernatural possession series. What went into crafting the specific tone? Did they have trouble portraying the level of darkness and violence necessary to getting the story right? And how did they pull off some of those incredible possession effects? On this week's episode of Off Panel, artist Paul Azaceta joins the show to discuss his work on the Image/Skybound title, Outcast. He discusses how he got started in comics, the Alex Toth influence, finding efficiencies in his art, his process on Outcast, the benefits of digital art, how his process has evolved, why he and colorist Elizabeth Breitweiser jive so well, Outcast's covers, whether he as trepidatious about signing onto the project, the value of working on an ongoing, the book's inset panels, and more.
Come back in time with us to the summer of 2014 when v1.0 of the show starring Cody, Dave, Isaac, and Mike as they talked about the comics they were reading back then. Titles like Marvel's "Elektra" #1 by Haden Blackman and Michael del Mundo, DC/Vertigo's "Bodies" (#1 of 8) by various writer/artist teams, Rick Remender's and Greg Tocchini's "Low" #1 from Image, and "Outcast" #1 by Robert Kirkman and Paul Azaceta also from Image. Plus in the issue, Jim finally gets the chance to respond to the allegations that he actually paid good money to see the Jennifer Garner "Elektra" film in the theatre... ...okay, he did. But he says why he did that. And actually it makes it kinda worse. Nice work genius. Anyhoo, we hope you like this episode of Graphic Content Flashback, our new series where we look back on the original incarnation of the show from 2014, to see how the industry is still in many ways the same, and how it's completely different in some others. If you'd like to make contact with us at Graphic Content, you can hit us up on Twitter @graphicpodcast, Instagram @graphiccontent.podcast, or via email where our address is thereal.graphiccontent@gmail.com. We hope to hear from you soon!

The Joy of Comics Podcast, Episode 12: Graphic Novel Book Club - Outcast Vol. 1 Welcome to the inaugural episode of what we hope will become a storied new tradition here at the Joy of Geek - our Graphic Novel Book Club. For each episode, we (Rich, Jordan and Kevin) will choose a graphic novel or trade paperback to read as a group, and then get together a week or two later for an in-depth discussion. For future episodes, we'll also be announcing the book choices in advance on TheJoyofGeek.net so listeners can get in on the discussion too. For our first episode of the GNBC, we're discussing Outcast: Vol. 1 - written by Robert Kirkman with art by Paul Azaceta. Outcast is an ongoing supernatural horror comic series published by Image Comics, and it's the story of Kyle Barnes - a man who has lived most of his life in the shadow of demonic possession. Kyle is an outcast in more ways than one, and soon he is called upon to use his strange and unique talents to battle the darkness and possibly save his own soul along the way. Outcast was originally conceived by Kirkman (of The Walking Dead fame) as an idea for both a comic series and a TV show, and the first season of the show aired this past summer on Cinemax. We discuss the first volume of the comic series in depth - offering our thoughts on the characters, the narrative so far, the art, and our hopes for the future of the series. We also touch on the pilot episode of the Cinemax series, and examine how closely it adheres to the source material. So here in the season of Halloween and all things haunted, join us as we venture ever closer to the evil that lurks in the hearts of men. Or rather, as we read a trade paperback and then discuss it in a well-lit room. Either way will work. This...is the Joy of Comics!
Hosts breakdown and discuss the Outcast series (issues 13-18). Outcast is an ongoing comic book series created by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta. It is a supernatural horror story that chronicles Kyle Barnes, a man whose loved ones have been involved in demonic possession since his childhood. With the help of a clergyman, he tries as an adult to unveil what lies behind the supernatural manifestations and why he seems to carry special peculiarities. Following up after the recent One Moment In Time story arc, Mark Waid and Paul Azaceta return as the creative team behind Amazing Spider-Man #642, the first issue of the next story arc called Origin of the Species. This past year we've seen Spider-Man's classic rogues in some shape or form, be it returning of old characters or christening new holders of the various villain titles. Now that Menace is about to have Osborn's baby, every Spider-Man rogue is out to get their hands on that baby, and make it a very stressful day for our hero in red and blue. We talk to Mark Waid about writing so many villains and why it's so much fun to write Spider-Man.
