Hi Sloggies! Cat Purring with Soothing Soft Music... Fall asleep to the sound of a happy cat next to you in bed. Brief talking intro only.According to research, "if a person suffering with anxiety listens to the sound of a cat's purr it may help to distract from the source of their anxiety and will be calmed by the purring sound. Moreover, there are many stories of people with migraines whose headaches are eased or extinguished when they lie with their heads close to purring cats. The reality is that behind all of the warm cuddles and purring, there is an animal that improves mental health by decreasing stress, offering companionship, purring the pain away, and serving as a therapy animal." Hi Sloggies! This bedtime soother includes a progressive muscle relaxation, to help relax your body, and a gently spoken reveal of the 'secret' to falling asleep, that eludes so many of us... while cunningly taking your mind off falling asleep!Warning: Before starting Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), it is recommended to consult with your General Practitioner (GP), especially if you have any pre-existing health conditions, such as heart problems, high blood pressure, respiratory issues, or back problems. PMR involves deliberate muscle tension, release, and a short, minor back stretch, which could potentially affect your circulation, heart rate, or spinal health. Your doctor can advise whether this relaxation technique is suitable for you and suggest modifications if needed. Always prioritize safety and seek professional guidance to ensure PMR is performed safely. It's been a … stressful … couple of months. And if past elections are any indication, that anxiety may not go away any time soon. Though we all know that sleep is critical, few of us get enough of it, particularly during stressful moments. Abdul reflects on the quest for a good night's sleep. Then he sits down with sleep expert Dr. Chris Winter to talk through the most important things all of us can do to get a good night. Hey friend! Today's show is all about the liver and how to help your body cleanse and detoxify itself naturally. I just recently returned from a 2-week Mediterranean cruise where I drank coffee and cocktails all day, stayed up to into the wee hours of the night, and ate “all of the things” in every port we stopped. And, now…my body is on strike! If you've recently enjoyed a vacation–or maybe even an entire summer–where you deviated from your regular routine, it can be common to feel out of sorts. That's because unhealthier diet or lifestyle habits–repeated over time–can put a lot of strain on our liver–the organ responsible for eliminating hormone-disrupting toxins in the body. In this episode you will learn: How our liver becomes overburdened and the everyday chemicals that are most harmful to our hormones How a “sluggish liver” can contribute to hormonal imbalances like estrogen dominance The absolute worst (i.e. unhealthy and potentially harmful) products to use for a liver cleanse Plus, the exact 3-step detox method I use to improve liver function and get rid of toxins and excess hormones...naturally! When done right, a cleanse can kickstart healthy eating habits, reset your hormones, and even help you lose weight. So, if you've been dealing with fatigue, irritability, low energy, or problems sleeping and suspect an overburdened liver might be to blame, this episode is for you! #FallIntoHealth #SeptemberDetox #BackToBetterHabits — Next Steps: Take my FREE Hormone Quiz: https://bit.ly/HormoneSelfAssessment Book a FREE Hormone Clarity Call: https://bit.ly/HCprecall Shop my Favorite Hormone Balancing Supplements And Save 5% or More on Every Order (Enter promo code EUQ1741): https://www.iherb.com/me/HormoneBalance Become An AYTML Podcast Insider: https://areyoutheremidlife.com/ Email Me: monica@monicalanetopete.com *Disclaimer: Information provided in this podcast is for educational and entertainment purposes only. In a companion episode to Dr. Laura's last episode on burnout (E73), she addresses what we need to know to identify and treat our burnout. Rather than talking to workplaces about how to prevent burnout in employees, this episode is all about us as individuals. What does burnout look like? What contributes to it? And what can we do about it? How do we help ourselves?Dr. Laura first defines burnout as “a syndrome resulting from chronic workplace stress” which means that personal and relationship stress, though impacting burnout, do not define the syndrome. She explains that mental health is on a continuum on which four main stages of depletion exist. We start off Healthy, move into Reacting, then if our needs are not addressed we enter into the Injured stage until, finally, we are deeply unwell in Illness. Each of these stages of burnout comes with increased mental and physical symptoms that must be recognized. Dr. Laura shares her insight on how we start to feel, the things we start to give up, and the ways in which we become ill. She explains how we need our work lives to foster our mental wellness so we can avoid burnout and mental illness in general.“I want to leave you with the fact that there is a way to address burnout once it happens, once you reach that end stage of burnout and you just feel a lack of energy, cynical, like you're not good enough, there is a way to get well again. And that burnout is not your fault. Oftentimes it's the organizational conditions you're in. It's the overload. It's the brutal boss that you're working for. It's the unhealthy team dynamics that are grating and wearing away at you. So it's not your fault, but you have the power to get the help you need.” Dr. LauraNote: If you wish to see the images Dr. Laura references, this episode can also be found on her YouTube channel here.About Dr. Laura:Bringing nearly 25 years of expertise as an Industrial/Organizational and Career Psychologist and pioneer in the future of work, Dr. Laura helps organizations evolve their cultures, and leaders and employees to thrive in their work and lives. She shares her expertise through keynote speaking, the Where Work Meets LifeTM podcast, strategic career coaching, and writing articles and books.Resources:Learn more about Dr. Laura on her website: https://drlaura.liveFor more resources, look into Dr. Laura's organizations: Canada Career CounsellingSynthesis Psychology

SHOW NOTES... Relaxed, deep sleep is perhaps the single best natural healing agent there is. If we wake slowly, there's still a profound vibration of nurture, if not immediate refreshment. But pattern is the key. The reliability of satisfying sleep is elemental to its satisfaction. Consider this then. We live in a time increasingly characterized by sleep problems. Go to the appropriate aisle in any pharmacy. It's a big aisle. The problem is an epidemic—but not a pandemic. Yet. But are sleeping problems seeping, and sweeping around the globe? With a focus on Insomnia, but not excluding other sleep disorders (such as apnea, restless leg syndrome, nightmares, etc.), what if we asked this question: Is it possible that the simplest and yet most coherent and embracing explanation of Modernity is Trouble Sleeping? Is this an oversimplification—or is it a sigilization? (Isn't Sigilization an interesting counter to Civilization?) -The Age of Trolls, the Age of Apps. Throngs of Dolls. Structures collapse. I'm afraid of the Death of Mythos…the overgrown abandoned Labyrinth. In Israel, they used to show porn films at drive-in-movie theaters. Big screen. Little known fact. I'm afraid of a descent into nightmare without magic. Ceremonies degenerating into Spectacle. Incoherent rituals of violence. Not a visionary brutalism, full of geometry and High Ideals. Not a bestial, sensual hedonism of misguided Innocence and clichéd desires. No. A kind of barbed wire methamphetamine mutant amnesia. -My big concern with Education (and all that it represents in terms of class mobility) is the collapse of standards in the name of Diversity and Inclusion. The radical Left claims this is a misnomer, despite a mountain of evidence to the contrary. Many go much further, believing the degradation of performance assessment is not only very real, and not merely collateral damage—it's their explicit goal. Cancel the Meritocracy. Everyone's a winner, baby.

It may have been so long since you've actually gotten a good night's sleep, that you don't even know what that feels like.I want to acknowledge that every person's need for sleep differs - some folks need more or less than others - but everyone needs good quality sleep. Both ayurveda and circadian medicine have powerful insights into sleep and how to get the most out of it.
