Introducing our guestFor fans of the show Billions, Devin has been called “the real-life Wendy Rhoades”.  He is the founder of Lifestyle Integrity, and has been the #1 ranked executive life coach in New York City according to Yelp and Google.  He coaches executives in business, finance, politics, media, and education through both personal and professional development.  His goal is to help clients, many of whom have achieved material success, to be able to attain fulfillment in their work and lives. In the most simplistic terms possible, Devin helps his clients make life altering decisions. As he stated perfectly in this episode: “We run amok in the world without figuring ourselves out.”  Devin came into coaching after going through his own personal struggles and a life altering transition. After years of living what he called “a double life” where his work and personal lives had become completely detached from one another, he fell into a deep depression. Only after he stepped into a phase of self-discovery to better understand himself was he able to find fulfillment and help others do the same.Who is this episode for?As we always say, the podcast is about understanding how high-performers have made important decisions in their lives. For this reason, it made sense to interview a coach who helps people do that. If you feel “stuck” or unfulfilled in your career path or life more broadly, this conversation is for you. Why is this important? As another guest of the podcast, Tom Morgan, recently wrote: “One critical role of a financial advisor is to help their clients feel secure enough to identify and pursue what brings them alive.” I have faced my own questions, and perhaps as a result developed a practice working with busy professionals who often grapple with many of the topics we discuss in the episode. Our ConversationFirst, Devin answers an important question I did not know the answer to: “what is a life coach?”. We laughed about how this term can mean pretty much anything and can often be viewed with skepticism. Devin explains how he views coaching through “four pillars”: career, health, spirituality, and relationships. While many clients approach him focused on one area, he coaches his clients to understand that the "whole system" must move in lockstep versus viewing these areas of life as separate things that don't interact. Devin discusses his own experiences as well as the specific approaches he uses with his coaching clients to help them live a life of fulfillment.Devin explains how high performers are often struggling internally, and they tend to create environments where they don't slow down or relax to feel uncomfortable with whatever it may be. However, Devin believes when we can sit in the “uncomfortable” long enough the answers to hard questions can become clear. We discuss useful frameworks for decision-making, helpful resources, books, as well as common questions and problems he works with his clients on.  While you may not take a year to live in a cabin in the mountains of North Carolina, so many people can relate to Devin's journey and work in their own way. Thanks

Today's conversation is with Dr Julie Gurner. Dr Julie is an executive performance who has spent the past 14 years working with top executives, talent, and teams operating in fast-paced, competitive environments.  She specialises in improving personal productivity, focus, and decision-making strategies, and unlocking the highest levels of success. Expect to learn what drew Dr Julie to psychology, how this background and understanding has shaped her coaching services and skills, and how helpful being compared to Wendy Rhoades from the TV show Billions has been when it comes to explaining her role. Beyond this, we lift the lid on what clients who operate at the top level want to work on, what common strengths they have, what areas they most want and need to develop, how Dr Julie has supported with both self limiting beliefs and on the flip side an out of control ego. Lastly, I encourage you to take out a pen and paper or open your phone notes app to take down how to fight up front, have challenging conversations, and give feedback. Today's podcast is not brought to by one of my usual sponsors. It is by my upcoming Podcast Masterclass Course.

She's been compared to Wendy Rhoades of "Billions" in The Wall Street Journal (2019), and named a “Game Changer” by IBM. Notes: High Standards: Holding a high bar is uncomfortable because it is "exclusionary," and most people want to make everyone around them happy & comfortable. If you hold a standard, it can't include everything... Figuring out your line & holding to it, will mean some tough conversations. “I think that there are two ways of looking at things that have happened to you. You can be a victim or you can be a survivor. Those are two very different cognitive positions." Balance: “People will tell you in books that you have to live a “balanced life,” but if we are completely honest, almost all great things are born from periods of imbalance.” Staying Small: A concept I believe, is that most people stay small, or don't go for what they truly want...because they believe that "imaginary rules" are true Be a Learner: The worst professionals, are the ones that stop learning the moment they graduate from school. And they are the majority. Being autodidactic - a self-learner - who also takes initiative, will have you in the top 10% of anything you take on. Goals: If your goals are "realistic," you are operating in a box. Check yourself. "If you want to be a game changer, you can't blend in." Know Yourself: When people are unable to commit to anything, it's because they don't know who they are. Shiny objects professionally (or personally) reflect a lack of certainty. When you get a genuine shot in the arm from what you do...of course, it's going to be hard to stop doing it. You're on fire. So many people are living their lives with the volume turned down. They don't get it. You don't have to live that way. Crank that energy up. "The people who rise aren't always the most talented or capable, but they are fueled by self-belief. Once you understand that, much of the business world makes sense." The difference between persistence and tenacious… persistent people stick to the plan to get to the goal. Tenacious people may change their plans altogether. A trait in the people who go on to do great things? Paul Graham defines it as being “relentlessly resourceful.” I see it all the time. Here's a practical zero-to-one process to be relentlessly resourceful, if you want to set yourself up for some big swings. Julie goes on a daily walk around her farm. She uses that walk to reflect, think, and be outside. It helps her synthesize information.  What makes a great executive coach? A sweet spot between talking and listening... A great executive coach gives their clients space to talk. They listen. They ask great follow-up questions. They help unlock people. They help them become multipliers.  How to deal with imposter syndrome? "You probably have the ability, but you're not understanding your own story." It's important to keep taking chances. To keep meeting the moment. Julie helps her clients tap in to and write their own stories.

Welcome to another episode of OTTplay Now you Know, one podcast that gives you all the trivia and lesser-known facts about your favorite shows and films. I'm your host NikhilAn American drama series, Billions has been developed by David Levien, Brian Koppelman and Andrew Ross Sorkin. The series premiered in 2016 and has undergone five successful seasons. The Showtime series is ending with the sixth and final season and narrates the story of hedge fund manager Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis). So if you're a fan of engaging thrillers based on financial frauds, this one's perfect for you. Let's kickoff some trivia.1.The characters of Rhoades and Axelrod may be fictional but are based on real-life people. Axe, who is supposed to be a mix of all hedge-fund personalities, started off as a dramatised version of Steven A Cohen (the co-founder of S.A.C. Capital, found guilty of insider trading and slapped with a fine of $1.8 billion). Rhoades, on the other hand, is based on Preet Bharara's personality, the one who pursued Cohen.  2. Maggie Siff, who plays Wendy Rhoades in the series, consulted noted motivational speaker Tony Robbins. The actress also consulted professional dominatrices who guided her by showing her how to accurately and safely depict BDSM on screen. Talking about Wendy, Siff once said in an interview, “[she] is very unapologetic about who she is, the power she wields, and the influence she has.” 3. Taylor Mason (who is played by Asia Kate Dillon) joins Axe Capital as a nerdy finance analyst who is obsessed with mathematics. Kate Dillon is also the first non-binary character to appear in North America television.  4. Billions has always been praised by critics for its acute eye towards detail. However, imitation can often end up misrepresenting, as was pointed out by a billionaire himself to the show's creator Brian Koppelman. As per the billionaire, no one with his dispensable income would travel by a G5 aeroplane, which he described as a “sardine can.”5. In order to inject authenticity into their narrative, the makers of Billions have featured several fine dining restaurants across New York, be it Barney Greengrass, Sparks Steakhouse or Emmy Squared. In fact, in one scene of the show, a character refers to the restaurant's owner himself as an exceptional chef. 6.  Other than restaurants, several noted real-life people have also featured on the show as themselves, from the music band Metallica,  to Goldman Sachs CEO  David Solomon and entrepreneur and TV personality Mark Cuban. If you haven't watched this series yet, do so streaming on HotstarWell that's the OTTplay Now You Know for today, I shall be back soon with  another podcast, Until then its your host Nikhil signing out .Aaj kya dekhoge OTTplay se poocho.

Denise Shull - perhaps best known as the basis for the character of performance coach Wendy Rhoades in the show Billions - has had her head in the game for decades now, starting as a trader herself before diving into psychology and becoming a coach of people who handle hundreds of millions of dollars every day. In this show she's joined by John Burns, who has spent decades as a trader himself, and they discuss how feelings drive every move we make - and why we should ignore traditional advice of "take the emotion out of it" when we are making decisions under pressure or stress.

I don't watch much television but I really enjoy Showtime's Billions. On a recent episode, Wendy Rhoades, an in-house psychiatrist for a prominent hedge fund, is counseling a one of the firm's executives. The executive is struggling because the firm profited from a major disaster. It was a moral struggle and a question of right and wrong. Wendy was clear & direct. She said, when you're here, "mind the truth that makes you money". I paused the show and wrote it down. We find ourselves in all sorts of true moments. We want the cookies. A second glass of wine would taste amazing. We're tired. All true, right? There are truths that take us in all directions. Truths that keep is where we are. Truths that move us forward. Truths that take us further from our goals. In today's episode we're riffing off that idea from Billions: mind the truth that moves you forward. Do you want to increase your productivity by 50%. Camille Preston shows us how to create more flow, and tells us that, once in a state of flow we are 7 times more productive than normal. So do you want to create more flow in your life? How to Create More Flow As Camille says the world needs flow now more than ever before. Flow allows you to organise your life around practices of intrinsic value: habits and ways of being that we have decided are important, fulfilling, and have the capacity to change the world for good. That's what you'll find in her new book:  Create More Flow. http://aimleadership.com/cmf/ About Camille Preston We spoke to Camille Preston, the most engaging of people, from her home in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. She grew up in New Hampshire. She has lived in London too. Before we got started, we noticed Camille drinking something like coloured water. It turns out it was Ultima – which replaces electrolytes and hydrates in a healthy way. It is certified vegan, paleo friendly and gluten free. Take a look at Camille's photo, it's probably a smart move to try some!! How to Create More Flow with Camille Preston http://www.ultimareplenisher.com Camille earned her PhD in Psychology from the University of Virginia in 2000. The doctorate was really looking at systems. How organisations work together. Graham reminded us of the Fawlty Towers episode where a Psychiatrist stays at Basil's hotel. Very funny episode! Here's a short clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnaHybw6CBI Camille often describes herself as the woman psychiatrist on “Billions”, Dr Wendy Rhoades. Here's a scene from the first episode. She uses industrial language, which we didn't get a hint of from Camille throughout our interview! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBpeYD1gneY After earning her doctorate, she did a spell on Capitol Hill. She left there to work with a non-profit, with police executives. Her first day on the job was 9/11.   The police chiefs asked her what they should do, she didn't really know, so it propelled her into leadership development. She helped the police chiefs navigate this transition to support their communities post 9/11. Leadership development was about helping people who were TECHNICALLY good at what they do, to figure out a new chapter. How they should respond to uncertainty. And perform. How to respond to uncertainty The whole crux of leadership development is that you cannot really prepare for the unknown, but using the gym metaphor, you can build the muscles and skills and get to know yourself. Then you have more agility and adaptability when uncertainty arrives. That is the subject of Camille's book “Create More Flow” so we know how to position ourselves to be our best regardless of what happens around us. How do you develop leadership skills when they've not been taught to you before? People who are great individual contributors are promoted, not necessarily because the want leadership, but there is this informal hierarchy which says wealth is better. Rarely are people given the skills of leadership. They are just thrown into the new position and it can take them away from the joy, the reason they got the role in the first place. The most important skill as they move into a leadership role, is to know: Themselves (SELF AWARENESS); What positions them for success; Where their weaknesses are; What their developmental opportunities are; Then build their capacity to STEP BACK and get perspective. We live in this always on, connected, over-wired world. So rarely do we give ourselves the time to just EXHALE. Tips and thoughts – how do we get that perspective. Camille's first book was re-wired, all about getting perspective. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rewired-Smarter-Purposefully-Productive-Overwired-ebook/dp/B006NYFFN4 Get resources from http://aimleadership.com/insights/resources/ Help yourself understand how to move from OVER-WIRED,

Episode 204: Dr. Tasha Eurich - How To Become More Self-Aware Common themes of leaders who sustain excellence: Self Awareness - "I scientifically studied this." "People who work on their Self-Awareness are happier, get more promotions, and lead better lives" It's become a national sport to point out that someone is self-aware -- "I wanted to do the research behind this to truly learn about it" 95% of people think they're self aware -- But only 10%-15% are actually self aware It's vitally important to regularly question your assumptions to become more aware Don't wait for a life event or someone else to tell you to do this. You must work on it daily.  The gains will be incremental (The Compound Effect) "We cannot own other people's journeys, we must own ours." You will work with people who lack awareness. Don't put it on yourself to fix it. Tasha previously worked within a company in the "Wendy Rhoades" role from Billions The Mary Tyler Moore Show -- Her boss -- Picture a "laugh track" behind what someone says to help deal with their lack of awareness Practical ways leaders build self-aware teams and organizations Alan Mulally story of how he gained self-awareness despite starting with very little of it "It shows that anyone can become self-aware" A great leader goes out of their way to build a culture where people can tell the truth." It's vital that the leader is vulnerable -- shares weaknesses and mistakes made Implementing a Business Process Review on a weekly basis Doing this at home with family as well -- Every Sunday, each family member provides updates The Speed of Trust -- Why everything is much faster when built upon the foundation of trust Pixar is the model of Trust.  Ed Catmull shares how they built this.  No leaks to the press. The "Selfie Syndrome" -- "There is a direct impact on social media & narcissism" "Resist the pull of the cult of self" How to promote your own work you're proud of without becoming a self-promoter? -- It's about the work and positively impacting people.
