The USC Triple-Double Podcast -- the Peristyle Podcast's basketball-focused podcast -- returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) breaking down the 2-0 starts of the USC men's and women's basketball programs and looking forward to the next week of action including a ACC/Big 10 matchup with Cal. Also special guest USC men's assistant head coach Anthony Ruta comes on to discuss the first week of action in the Eric Musselman era. He talks about the positives and negatives of the first two games, discusses the design of schedule building, including what the Trojans were trying to do with their schedule this season, and breaks down how Musselman and his staff try to teach players in a variety of different styles to be able to reach each player better. Shotgun and Connor look at where the men and women's programs stand after the first week of play and preview the upcoming week that will see four games played at the Galen Center between the two programs. The Women of Troy welcome a CSUN squad that is one win away from tying its total from last season when it went 3-27 losing 26 games in a row. They then play a unique afternoon matinee matchup against Santa Clara on Friday. The USC men continue their battle with the state of Texas, facing off against another UT school in UT-Arlington on Wednesday before a strange-to-say ACC-Big Ten matchup against previously familiar foe, California, Sunday evening. However, the Golden Bears, like the Trojans, have a roster that is completely revamped from last season with transfers from all over the country, including Stanford, Vanderbilt, Michigan State, Grand Canyon and others. Two major statewide offices in Indiana will not have incumbents in 20-24, and the scramble for Governor and US Senator is already underway. Republican Senator Mike Braun has filed paperwork to run for Governor in two years, when term-limited Governor Eric Holcomb must step down. Braun's move will leave his Senate seat up for grabs in '24, when he would have been up for reelection. It's hard to remember, but this is part of a normal pre-pandemic pattern: prices fall in the fall and early winter, and go up again in February and March, due to lower demand during the winter. The Vatican's website was down yesterday due to a suspected cyberattack. Several Vatican sites were offline throughout the day and the official Vatican.ca website was down well into the evening. The Tuesday, November 30th slate of college basketball games gives us the conclusion of the ACC/Big Ten challenge as well as plenty of more games to sink your teeth into. Stick around to get the expert's hottest college basketball picks and expert college basketball predictions for these NCAAB games. Duke will play their first game since defeating Gonzaga on Friday night in a thriller, when they travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State. The Buckeyes will play their first game since falling to 23rd ranked Florida 71-68 in the Fort Myers Tip-Off. It was their second loss of the season after losing to in-state rivals Xavier two weeks ago. Ohio State did defeat a very good Seton Hall team in their first game of the Fort Myers Tip-Off, so they are battle tested. They will need it against a Duke team that has already defeated Kentucky and Gonzaga in the first month of the season. The other game of the ACC/Big 10 Challenge is the Florida State Seminoles traveling to take on the Purdue Boilermakers. Purdue has been impressive so far this season. They are one of the top two teams in the entire country, and defeated North Carolina, and Villanova in consecutive nights at the Hall Of Fame Tip-Off. The Noles only loss of the season came at the hands of their in-state rival Florida Gators. In their most recent game they played a very close game that ended in overtime against Boston University. The Noles have the size and coaching to be competitive, but will have to bring it for 40 minutes straight.Make sure to catch their best college basketball predictions and picks before making your bets.Topics:NCAAB Tuesday Predictions 0:00Minnesota vs Pittsburgh 3:00Elon vs UNC Greensboro 8:23Prairie View vs South Dakota State 19:27Saint Louis vs Boise State 26:28Duke vs Ohio State 30:00Q&A 34:16NCAAB Best Bets 40:16NCAAB Betting Record 41:59

August is about to depart and September is around the corner, but in the moment is my take on all that's going on in sports as Episode #211 has arrived. On deck: (5:55) The polar opposites of the New York baseball teams as they've made news in the sport this past week. First up, the Yankees just completed a 13 game winning streak, putting themselves in prime position to make the postseason. It does pose the question, do you trust this core (i.e. Judge, Stanton, Sanchez, Torres, etc.) to deliver a championship? (17:33) Another rant about the god forsaken team that I root for in the Mets. How analytics ruined a big start by Taijuan Walker, the Javier Baez 'Thumbs Down' fiasco to the fans and there MUST be a complete house cleaning in store from the top on down as this team needs to do some major self-analysis this offseason. Plus, I'll take a look at the MLB playoff landscape as we head into the final month of the season. (43:00) The NFL season is a week plus upon us. I'll review the over/under win totals for the year. Perhaps I'll give you a peek as to who I may choose come next week. I'll even get into my potential knockout pool pick to start off Week 1. I'll highlight what's going on throughout the league with some news and notes. (54:04) The college football season is underway. I'll get into the first matchup of note this past weekend, what lies ahead this weekend as the highlight game will take place between #5 Georgia vs. #3 Clemson. I'll preview if there'll be a change at the top of the college football rankings at all throughout the course of the year, the alliance between the PAC-12, ACC & Big Ten and who'll be Heisman hopefuls come December? (1:02:14) The Association was quiet, but there were a few transactions that took place. The Knicks offered Julius Randle a fair extension for some team flexibility. The new look Lakers add another familiar piece in Rajon Rondo as I'm going to dub them 'The Expendables' after the action movie and its mega cast of action heroes of the past. Is Kevin Garnett's Celtic number worthy of being risen up to the rafters at the TD Garden in Boston? (1:09:17) Some signings in the NHL, a change in representation for Sabres' Jack Eichel as I've discussed in a recent podcast and a sad, untimely passing of former player, Jimmy Hayes. (1:13:55) The final major tennis tournament of the year (US Open) with the only storyline being Novak Djokovic's chase for immortality in completing the calendar Grand Slam. Will he do it? Will the pressure mount as he gets closer to winning? What about the women's side as Naomi Osaka returns for her first Slam appearance since the Australian Open. (1:20:08) Jake Paul is continuing to make his way and name in the world of boxing as he wins a split decision against former MMA fighter, Tyron Woodley. Is this a guy that we're going to have to take seriously?
