So many giggles on Episode 43 of the Partnership Podcast where Lauren and Trey cover their original Partnership Yes/No Lists, the 3 C's of Partnership, and their recent sexy getaway! At minute 4:50 Lauren and Trey start unpacking the logical choice they made in choosing partnership with one another. Listeners will enjoy their short trip down memory lane as they approach their anniversary and giggle over Lauren's most used word of the week, BEMOANING: to regard with displeasure, disapproval, or regret. At minute 7:20 they start to unpack the “lists” they each made independently before meeting on October 26, 2019. Lauren wants the audience to understand that we each individually get to be specific about our desires for a partner, but that does NOT excuse us from unpacking the harmful effects of cultural beauty standards. For Trey, his list was helpful, because it allowed him to get, “clear on what he wanted” and then forget about it! Lauren wrote her “list” slightly differently in 2019 when she was coming to grips with being a divorcee and single mother! (Enjoy your hilarious NFL moment at minute 16:21!) At minute 19:25 Lauren shares how Nora McInery's book, NO HAPPY ENDINGS, inspired her to write a story different from the sad one she was experiencing! Nora taught her to write “lonely hearts club ads” that allowed her to look beyond the limits of her small town and for a future partner like Trey! Honing in on what you want allows our future partners to be the object of our truest desire and WOW is that powerful! At minute 22:00 our hosts begin to take us on the hilarious journey of their weekend getaway! They share the highs and lows and inbetweens of this sex-cation gone… sideways! There's a slight skip at minute 24:58, but nothing is lost!! Lauren shares how anxiety and separateness build her anticipation for the evening and on the contrary,Trey shares the work he did to slow his mind and his rhythms down in order to be present as a lover. They both giggle about the nervousness they experience over not knowing what they're gonna talk about and then tell the story about what they did AFTER dinner and before going back to their room! Listeners will laugh when Lauren talks about the planning that goes into the undergarments that we wear or do NOT wear on dates!! Trey talks to the fellas for a moment at minute 31:00 about outercourse and training up your skills! If anyone needs teaching tools, of course, reach out to Lauren for more info on OMG Yes! Oh… but friends, the real meat of the podcast begins at minute 35:00! We're not gonna give it away here, so make sure you watch or listen! At minute 36:30 Lauren talks about how she refused to hate on her body “stuffed” in lingerie because as adrienne marie brown states in PLEASURE ACTIVISM, there is “big business in not being enough!” They talk about the fun and then the moment the fun goes WRONG at minute 41:13 and how they responded and handled disappointment in the middle of their sexy weekend! Lauren shares that the grace and compassion she extended to herself was so important in overcoming the disappointment of a “failed” encounter! Trey shares how caretaking was important and needed in the moment! Part TwoCharlie suggests maybe we should stop comparing to last season now and instead start looking forward, he questions if we look well coached throughout the entire team and performance pointing out our deficiencies in attacking areas in terms of creating chances, preferring instead to pass backward and cause our own problems in defence. Greg makes a really good debut call, based in the West Midlands, and married to a Baggies fan he bemoans Ngakia and Morris's performances with Leeds coming up at the weekend. Concerned at our defensive fragility he counters that the Baggies fans near him concerns about Ismael have been disproved and would like to have seen Livermore or Kayembe bought in for Porteous with Sierralta dropping rather than bringing on a nervous looking Pollock.Danny joins (with Becky driving) and review a mixed bag of game and rues the Kone chance to make it 3-2 but review his performance and agree his energy and willingness to go forward see him favoured to start again vs Leeds. We agree that overall Bachmann was a force for good (but we reserve the right to have a look at the free kick). For a drier climate we join Vinnie in Dallas and explore watching the game whilst working Bemoaning the mistakes that cost us goals and ultimately points, Vinnie is still enthused with the football we are playing, and we discuss Rajovic's XG vs his goals (Pete reaches the end of his knowledge of statistics at this point and starts talking about blowing up the old Dallas Cowboys stadium instead.Louis finishes off the evening excited to find out about new travel options from Watford to Clapham and thinks Bachmann could have done better with the free kick but asks about our fullbacks pushing into midfield and asks – does it work? Enjoying the spectacle of the first half he also asks about the bad quality of distribution of the WBA keeper – perhaps Bachmann's distribution isn't SO bad in comparison? We go through the 5 word review and long form reviews as ever with some great comments and observations that offer a barometer of the game issues and opportunities by themselves.COYH!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. The Non-Prophets 22.31.1 2023-08-02 featuring Cynthia Cynthia McDonald, Infidel 64, Timothy Bethel and Teo El ATeo New Florida standards teach students that some Black people benefited from slavery because it taught useful skills, NBC News, By Antonio Planas, June 20, 2023https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/new-florida-standards-teach-black-people-benefited-slavery-taught-usef-rcna95418A new Florida standard teaches students that some black people benefited from slavery because it taught useful skills. The stop woke act requires Florida teachers to promote the view that black people benefited from slavery because they could learn skills that they could use in life in order for them to actually earn a living. We could speculate all day about why they do this, but the most obvious reason seems to be they don't like the idea of dealing with the oppression of minorities, women, LGBTQ people anytime they're faced with one of these groups being oppressed. They have to try to soften it and make statements about how it's really not that bad and certainly not as bad as these groups are making out to be. They claim these groups just want attention and they want more rights than other groups.Religious people love to act like they're the most suppressed people on Earth all the time. Bemoaning the idea that they can't even go into a Target because they sell kids t-shirts with LGBTQ on it.The goal of the new Florida standards is to completely undermine and devalue the experiences of slaves and the lasting impact slavery has had on the African-American community. They hide behind words like truth, but the reality is they want to create a narrative that the American slavery of black people wasn't that bad, and that it actually helped a lot of black people.Unfortunately, we have this group of people who they don't really want to think about the issues. They're so preconditioned against this woke agenda, that the anti-woke act sounds great to them.If you believe this view that slaves were singing happily in the field and try to pretend this is some type of trade program where they were going to end up with a lot of money and a great life at the end, you are being patently dishonest. You can't get a personal benefit if you're a slave for life. The violent indiscriminate massacre of African-Americans in Tulsa, Atlanta, and DC is treated as if there was some sort of parity, as if black people were also actively perpetuating violence in these events. Hundreds of people died in these massacres, but we could not bother to even count them. It is irresponsible to ignore that the people who died were guilty only of being black, and this fact is being whitewashed. It is telling that out of sixteen names listed as “beneficiaries”, only four of them were confirmed to ever having been a slave. You would think that their “comprehensive and rigorous instruction on African American History” could at least come up with a better list. Anthony Johnson was used as an example of a slave that benefited, but in actuality he was never a slave he was an indentured servant. Another was born 20 years after slavery was abolished.William Allen, the lead revisionist on this rewrite of history used the good old “a few isolated expressions without context.” excuse to defend their work. Haven't we all heard that one before? If that is the best they can do, then perhaps they should go back to school themselves. But not in Florida.
Is an over reliance on analytical and logical thinking stifling innovation in insurance? How can we help clients become more emotionally invested in the insurance they purchase, and why should we? Welcome to the 100th episode of the Insurance Broker Podcast, and the first to be recorded live! This week, we are celebrating this milestone by tackling some big questions with three titans of the industry – Sam White, Peter Blanc, and Steve White! In conversation with Boston Tullis' Sarah Myerscough, they discuss the dichotomy of ‘left brain' (analytical, logical) and ‘right brain' (creative, emotional) thinking. Bemoaning the industry's general reliance on the former, they highlight the need for emotionally driven engagement with customer needs for insurers and brokers alike to truly innovate. Touching on all the major problems facing the industry today, including new regulatory pressures, the cost-of-living crisis, and recruitment difficulties, each of the guests emphasise how tapping into emotionally driven thinking can provide an alternative perspective from which to understand and tackle these issues. Quote of the Episode “Fundamentally, people don't care about insurance. And that's our fault. If we can't get people emotionally invested in what we're doing, then they do just think, [‘I'll buy] whatever is cheaper'… Somebody will buy a life insurance policy online, just as a kind of, ‘I'd better grab that'. We need to learn how to evolve the product so that we can really get people to understand what they're buying in a digital world, as well as face to face.” For many people not well-versed in industry jargon and technicalities, an insurance policy is often considered an grudge purchase. Despite the fact that policies are taken to protect their lives and livelihoods if disaster were to strike, there is often an emotional disconnect between the purchasing of a life insurance policy, for example, and an in-depth consideration of the reasons why one needs it. This is becoming increasingly challenging due to the digitisation of the insurance market, by which face-to-face discussions between clients and insurers are becoming eclipsed by the ease of doing it all online. Sam White argues that the insurance industry as a whole needs to improve its external communication in this regard, in order to crystallise in a prospective client's mind, the potential consequences of taking out a lacking insurance policy, be it for their business, their car, or their life. Key Takeaways Increasing the educative role of insurers and brokers could be instrumental to curbing the public's general disinterest in their insurance policies, and indeed, to reorienting the industry's reputation in their minds. Communicating with customers on an emotional, rather than purely statistical level could be hugely beneficial to broadening the general understanding of what insurance is and why people need it, which people are often falsely assumed to automatically understand upon becoming adults despite being minimally, if at all, addressed during school education. Additionally, a greater emphasis on the emotional, human element of insurance could help with the industry's floundering recruitment efforts. Sam White suggests that emphasising the practicalities of insurance will quickly lose the interest of potential candidates. Alternatively, highlighting the ideology of insurance may be a great way to capture and retain their interest. Peter Blanc asserts that there should be a moral overlay upon everything we do in insurance, which should assist in the navigation of when to deploy ‘left brain' or ‘right brain' thinking. As a result of the cost-of-living crisis, many people are looking to cut expenses wherever they can. In attending to this crisis, there needs to be a balance in both logical and emotional thought. There needs to be a balance in attending to this crisis. A customer's primary concern may be cost, and using right brain/emotional thinking we may be driven to provide them with a cheaper policy. However, we must also use logical thinking – what will ultimately save the client money long term? If they need to make a claim, will this cheaper policy actually provide the help they need? Peter suggests that ‘we should fundamentally be providing products that enable people to go about their lives without undue risks'. Best Moments/Key Quotes “People work for organisations that they want to work for, and that they enjoy being part of. Our job as leaders, I think, has changed enormously over the last few years. It's all about creating an environment where people want to work for us. Employers had the power 10 years ago. I'd say employees have the power now. And that's a much nicer place to be.” “It's a problem that we haven't quite managed to deal with yet, actually how to communicate to customers in a way that they want to be communicated with. We still just inundate customers with utter nonsense: the renewal invites, the PDF documents with 80 pages that no one is ever going to read. And that's our standard mode of communication with customers, which I think is appalling and needs to change.” “The big change will be that I think the regulator will expect us to deliver products that are going to work… We have to be talking to our customers truly understand what they need, and then make sure we're doing our job, so that when something does go wrong, they are looked after.” Resources The BIBA Pod: https://thebibaconference.org.uk/feed/podcast/ BIBA - BIBA Homepage - British Insurance Brokers' Association Howden Group - Howden Broking Group - Global Website (howdengroup.com) Stella Insurance AU - Stella Insurance - Insurance Provider for women in Australia Stella Insurance UK - Home - Stella Insurance (withstella.co.uk) Human Business with Sam White: https://www.spreaker.com/show/human-business About the Guest Sam White is the Founder and CEO of Stella Insurance, which launched in Australia in 2020 and launched in the UK in November 2022. First up health, because we really can't ignore it. What will come as no surprise to many, Te Whatu Ora, also known as the health department, has shown that the performance of the nation's hospitals has worsened over the past year in almost every department. ED waiting times are bad; more than 6000 patients who have been pre-approved for surgery have been left languishing, many in pain for more than a year. People are having to fund their own surgeries after being let down by the public health system. You might have seen the story over the weekend the hospital system is also having to deal with a young man with special needs because there is nowhere else to put him. He's not unwell. He's not sick. He's not needing medical attention. But the hospital and the nurses, who are not specially trained to look after this young man with his neurodiverse needs, is taking up a hospital bed because there is nowhere else to put him. Nine months into this brand-new vision for the nation's health services, the head of Te Whatu Ora, Margie Apa, says the system is under strain. So what is the answer? Is it training more GP's, training more surgeons, training more doctors? Is it importing them? Is it encouraging Kiwis to take responsibility, (shocking, shocking thought) for their own health? Rewarding them for doing so? Many people who end up in hospital end up there because of chronic health conditions that could be alleviated with a change of lifestyle. Do we reward New Zealanders who show up for checkups? The number of people I have spoken to who are frustrated beyond belief because there are clinics that people can attend, that they are told to attend so that their health conditions don't get worse. They don't turn up. Vans are put on for them, taxis are provided, but they don't show up. So a little bit of carrot, a little bit of stick to encourage New Zealanders to be more responsible for their own health, perhaps. Instead of just bemoaning the fact that, you know, we've got so many people in hospital and there are so many people who require surgeries, do we go back, right back to the very beginning and say, OK, well, why are people in hospital in the first place? Should we be doing more to prevent people needing hospital care anyway? Do we need to look at things a little bit differently? I'd love to hear from you on that. Perhaps reimagining how we do health in this country because what we have right now is not working and it's not working for anybody. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Proust is a great teacher. This may sound embarrassingly platitudinous, and yet I find that it is a fact altogether too easily overlooked in our incessant praise (or bemoaning) of his technical achievements as a stylistic innovator. Setting aside for a while the whole issue of innovative narrative technique (which is nonetheless essential to the realization of his thought through literary art), we can appreciate that he has something important to teach us about what it means to be wise, or, in short, a more fully realized human being. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/you-betterknow4/message

The Lagos State Government is committed to continually improving and regulating the parking refinement for residents in order to make parking convenient, safe and secure.Speaking at a news-conference, to inform stakeholders and the public on the mandate and activities of the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, explained that the functions of the Agency are constitutional and the State Government will never resort to any untoward means in its dealing with the people.Addressing the misinformation recently circulated about the activities of LASPA by a company alleging that it was charged for parking within its own premises, the Commissioner urged Lagosians to be wary of political jobbers and individuals who willfully distort facts.Oladeinde stated that LASPA was established to promote parking policies tailored to suit the peculiarity of the State in line with modern international standards towards achieving a smart city.“LASPA is empowered to remove all impediments arising from indiscriminate parking, thereby increasing the carriageway capacity on the roads, improving the flow of traffic and reducing travel time”, he remarked. He maintained that aside from improving the parking culture, the establishment of the Authority has created employment opportunities for youths and will further generate additional revenue for the State.Outlining the levies paid to LASPA on parking lots provided by the Authority, Oladeinde said that the rates are reasonable and cheap.“The yearly levy of N80,000, an equivalent of N219 daily, is lower than charges of most private commercial parks, which is N500 to N1,000 parking dues per hour, equivalent to over N182,500 or N365,000 yearly. The difference is clear as the government is quite considerate and responsive in making the environment conducive for all”, the Commissioner explained. While encouraging Lagosians to cooperate with the agency and other similar stakeholders in carrying out its mandate, Oladeinde implored concerned members of the public to visit the Agency's office at 36B Sasegbon Street, GRA, Ikeja, for necessary information and assistance. He also called on Lagosians to visit the Authority's website at www.laspa.lg.gov.ng and direct their enquiries to @laspa.lg.gov.ng or telephone numbers: 01-227-5230 and 01-227-5231, adding that the agency is available 24/7 on social media platforms: Facebook: Laspa Mot, Twitter:@laspa_mot, Instagram: laspa_lagos.In her remarks, the General Manager, Lagos State Parking Authority, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, expressed the need to regulate the parking sector to achieve the 21st Century City that this administration is desirous to bequeath Lagosians.Bemoaning the indiscriminate parking across the State, the General Manager stated that most Lagos buildings lack parking space, pointing out that Lagos needs to get to a point where parking facilities must be provided when erecting any building.“As the government is trying to pool revenue into the development of infrastructure, lack of adequate parking facilities is causing deterioration of our road infrastructure. Therefore, event centres, religious houses, shopping malls and other public buildings must make necessary provisions for parking spaces”, the General Manager affirmed.Mrs. Adelabu explained that LASPA was created to solve a problem that affects every resident, saying “We intend to regulate the parking sector and not take ownership from private operators. Privately-owned and commercial parking locations are enjoined to register with the Agency to enable government create the necessary structure to ease access to these facilities”.She stated that the Authority has engaged some religious bodies including the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and Islamic Organisations on the need to provide enough space that will accommodate their vehicles. While emphasising that opportunities for concession ownership of the parking facilities would be available, the General Manager disclosed that the agency will roll out adaptable technology to support operations and gradually deploy signage and lane markings in phases across Lagos. The briefing was attended by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Kamar Olowoshago; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Mr. Jubril Gawat and other stakeholders in the transportation sector.Courtesy : Lagos State Parking Authority

The evening of May 10, 1970, found a young Watt M. Casey Jr. standing awestruck, only a few feet from Jimi Hendrix as the legendary guitarist tore into his unique arrangement of “The Star-Spangled Banner” on the stage of San Antonio's Hemisphere Arena during the Texas leg of his Cry of Love Tour. Bemoaning the fact that he had no camera to document the amazing experience or the visionary musicians creating it, Watt promised himself that he would make up for his oversight in the weeks and years to come. Little did he realize at the time that Hendrix had less than five months to live.Casey made good on his resolution, and My Guitar Is a Camera provides the evidence. With a foreword by Steve Miller, this rich visual history of the vibrant live music scene in Austin and beyond during the 1970s and early 1980s allows Casey's lens to reveal both the stage, awash in spotlights and crowd noise, and the more intimate backstage moments, where entertainers hold forth to interviewers and friends. As Outlaw Country's cosmic cowboys mixed with East Coast rockers, Chicago bluesmen, and West Coast hippies, Watt Casey roamed at will, capturing the people, places, and happenings that blended to foster Austin's emerging reputation as “Live Music Capital of the World.”Be sure to follow us @lonestardrygoods and checkout our good friend and fellow Texan, Watt Casey Jr. @wattcaseyjr

Devin: What is your superpower? What do you think of as that singular strength that helps you to be so incredibly successful?Jill: You know, I have a really good friend, Marion Fredman, who told me once when I was a young leader at my first nonprofit Museum of Children’s Art, she said, “Jill, we’re many different people in our lives.” I think similarly, we have many different superpowers. I think more recently, the superpower that has given me the most success has been my ability to convince other people of their transformative power to make the world a better place, to really contribute, to make a difference.Jill Vialet founded the national nonprofit Playworks, which operates effective programs both during and after school across the country. She recently wrote a book, Why Play Works, about the lessons she’s learned over 25 years. Her insights demand our attention.Jill sees play as relevant not only for healthy childhood development but also for adults. Bemoaning the current political environment in which people vilify their political rivals—often including friends and neighbors whose cars have the wrong bumper sticker or caps have the wrong slogan—she sees play as a part of the solution. She notes that play teaches us that we need “healthy competition to get better.” Republicans challenging Democratic policies could be seen as helping to hone the principles and polish the messages to convince people of their value. In addition, she observes that play helps get us comfortable with rules. You can’t imagine playing sports without rules. That framework helps us tolerate rules that govern work and society, too.Jill attributes learning creativity and innovation to play. She adds that leadership is also learned that way. This is true perhaps, especially for unstructured play. Recently, she hike the John Muir Trail from Yosemite to Moun Whitney admitting that there was no structured purpose for this play but values it just the same. One critical thing value she sites for play is its ability to teach us to manage risks. “Play is this—it's an undeniably risky behavior that has survived evolution nonetheless, partly because the way you learn to handle risk is by taking manageable risks. Play really is that that tool. People climb jungle gyms or they play hide and seek; in a lot of ways, those are just playing out, dealing with fears of heights and or being worried about abandonment.”Having left her full-time role at Playworks during the pandemic, which sadly required a layoff in which she included herself, Jill has shifted her time and focus to academia. She now teaches at both the University of California Berkeley and Stanford. She describes her superpower as “my ability to convince other people of their transformative power to make the world a better place, to really contribute, to make a difference.”How to Develop the Ability to Convince Other People of Their Transformative Power As a SuperpowerJill’s leadership at Playworks is just one piece of evidence of that ability. In 1988, she founded the Museum of Children’s Art (or MOCHA) which continues to thrive today. In fact, the high school intern, Nina Woodruff-Walker, who volunteered to help Jill launch it 34 years ago is now the executive director. Her leadership ability, including what she describes as her superpower, has left an impressive mark on her community and the country. She adds that she pairs her superpower with “my ability to get the hell out of the way.” While uttered in jest, I suspect there is a foundation of truth there. She is also keen on holding people accountable. When Playworks earned support from AmeriCorps members, she fired one. Someone said, “You can’t fire Americorps members.” Jill describes her response as, “I’m like, Oh yes, we can.” Accountability is a partner of empowerment. As a professor, she teaches her students a key principle, that there is not only one right answer. She invites guest lecturers with whom she disagrees to present to the students to help them develop their personal sense of mission, purpose and values. She sees this an empowering approach that will enable them to change the world. Remembering this can help you do the same. Your vision for how you change the world should be defined by your passions and life experiences, not Jill’s—or mine. You can change the world. And you can convince other people of their transformative power as well. With practice, this can become one of your superpowers. Keep a log of emotions. Identify the perks. Fill the gap.Connect with uplifting community. Write yourself a note.Heal the shame. Ever hear about the ghost of a headless Jesus who was seen by a man of the cloth charging along a dark Welsh road at night at the helm of a carriage pulled by spectral horses? No? What about the pesky poltergeists which were scaring a married couple in their new home nearby, and even "some holy ladies"?In this special bonus episode of Ghosts & Folklore of Wales, join MARK REES (author of Ghosts of Wales/ The A-Z of Curious Wales/ Paranormal Wales etc.) as he looks back at three curious real-life ghost stories recorded in the Victorian age by a man from Flintshire.Bemoaning the lack of contemporary spooky tales, he submitted three of his own to the local press in order to reignite a little interest in the paranormal. Not only is it a fascinating glimpse into the supernatural beliefs of the people at the time, but it has parallels with our modern-day approach to spooks and spectres. With many people nowadays looking to re-enchant a word which has seemingly lost that spark of magic, could we all learn something from the man who shared ghost stories with his community? This episode was recorded especially for the Haunted Happening #hauntedhappening event on Twitter and Facebook, and is in addition to the normal weekly episode - two episodes in one week, which means double the ghostly and folkloric fun - cheers / iechyd da!

In this episode of NL Hafta, Newslaundry’s Abhinandan Sekhri, Manisha Pande and Mehraj D Lone are joined by Shoaib Daniyal, associate editor at Scroll. The panel starts with a discussion on Cyclone Amphan and the resultant devastation in West Bengal. Shoaib says: “This was so fearsome that it came into Kolkata also, which is a good 100 km from the sea...It was a pretty scary sight that day and, of course, the city then went through terrible problems for the next few days.” He adds that casualty numbers are relatively low, despite the cyclone’s severity, “because of basic precautions. Just putting people in a pakka house — that very simple act saves lives.”The panel also discusses the media coverage of Amphan. Manisha acknowledges that there are possible constraints for media organisations. However, channels like Zee Bangla and News18 Bangla still managed to cover the cyclone, but Zee and News18’s Hindi counterparts did not, “despite having this great resource of reporters being on the ground for the Bengali channels,” she says. “So I think it’s more wilful than the lack of being able to get someone.”Moving on to the rerouting of Shramik Special trains, Mehraj says, “I am just at a loss. Even incompetence alone doesn’t explain this. This is a time when they are running a fraction of the usual number of trains...It is not just that these trains are getting lost, but they are also not providing food or even water.” Bemoaning the government’s inability to coordinate the provision of food with civil society groups, Abhinandan says the government “doesn’t want to talk to anyone. Because they think of everybody as an enemy. When you are such a hostile and venom-filled entity, you will not reach out to anyone to collaborate.”The panel also discusses the recent India-China dispute, Newslaundry’s coverage of different issues under constraints, lockdowns in other countries, Rahul Gandhi’s recent comments on the Maharashtra government, and the possibility of opening places of religious worship. Our past often reminds us of years wasted. What could I have done with that time? How might my present be different if I had a better past. Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones believes that meditating upon our past failures is a waste of time. “If you can't do anything about a thing,” he argues, “stop thinking about it.” The Apostle Paul was a man whose past was filled with sin. His energies were devoted to harm and destroy the Christian message. He was the last Apostle to come to Jesus. Yet, with all of his past sin, Paul does not find misery in the present. His past does not affect his new identity in Jesus Christ. Lloyd-Jones wants Christians to know that we certainly were what we once were, but now we are what we are. We must study Scripture, know who we are, and be prepared for these spiritual attacks. Bemoaning our past cripples us in the present. Listen as the Doctor encourages Christians to ruthlessly fight against this condition so that one does not behave like a fool. The fool focuses on self and seeks to change what he cannot control. The Godly man, on the other hand, is more interested in Christ, and less interested in self.

In this episode, Remington goes it alone, surveying the overcrowded field of Democratic candidates for President of The United States. With 20 candidates set to appear in a two night first debate, Democrats have to question whether or not this robust of a group gives them options or fragments the party ahead of a crucial general election. Bemoaning the revolving door of usual suspects such as former Vice President Joe Biden (another old white male), Remington cited a few candidates he likes and a few he doesn't, urging voters on the Left and the Right to consider fresh candidates and new perspectives. We can't fix our problems of we only try the same people with the same solutions over and over again.

0 - 5:00: Whining about the heat because we are Seattle Wimps and some general weekend catching-up. Eric talks about a beer festival he was at over the weekend and gives Kate a severe case of FOMO. Is it FOMO? Suprisingly, this is not the first time our over-30 podcast duo will fail to nail a moment in the cultural zeitgeist. 5:00-15:00: Bemoaning the lack of offense against the White Sox and establishing which threat level we are at for the current state of the offense: higher or lower than the nation’s airports? Kate wonders who the hero will be who’s finally able to drive in Dee after he triples. Some general pooh-poohing of visiting fans flooding into Safeco is done because tickets for the Maple Grove are currently going for forty bucks, which is ridiculous. Kate tells a story about being annoyed by Giants Tech Startup Bro Fans at Spring Training this year, and Eric mentions Paul Konerko, because he’s apparently on some kind of rewards program. 15:00-22:00: Breaking down the offensive struggles a little more and examining Nelson Cruz’s recent slump. Kate argues this is actually the best time to extend Nelson Cruz. 22:00 - 31:00: Talking the Scott Servais extension and debating Heyman’s bizarre claim that Servais isn’t well-liked in the clubhouse. Kate tells a heartwarming anecdote about Servais that is only slightly emotionally dinged when she mixes up team surgeon Dr. Khalfayan and Wiz Khalifa. Using professional experience from each of our careers, Eric talks about Servais’s management style, and Kate talks about Servais’s philosophy as a teacher. We might not nail every reference but there are some benefits to being Olds. 31:00 - 34:00: Catching up on the BP at the Ballpark night event and Jerry Dipoto’s use of the word “turds.” 34:00 - end: Questions!
