Our guest today is Aussie indie-pop singer-songwriter Mia Wray. Her long-awaited debut album, hi, it's nice to meet me, has finally arrived—a stunning collection of songs that trace her journey from the end of a long-term relationship to a new awakening, one that helped her embrace her queerness. The album beautifully captures this evolution while effortlessly weaving between indie rock, bedroom pop, and more. In today's episode, we chat with Mia about the long road to her debut, the preconceived notions people may have had about her music, and how she took sonic risks without worrying about outside opinions. We also dive into her experience co-writing with one of her musical idols, Gabrielle Aplin.Mia Wray: Instagram / Spotify Purchase hi, it's nice to meet me and find her on tour here.Visit our official website here and follow us across our socials.

We all examine different fan behaviours and the music industry's new found obsession with the ‘Superfan'. What I Learned From Interviewing 100+ Artists. Welcome to In The Moment with me, Alex Manzi, your friendly neighborhood mind sherpa. This is a special episode of the podcast for me. We're closing soon on 300 episode and I wanted to reflect an all the interviews that I made from 2017 until now. I've interviewed for this pod (that was initially called "The Dreamers' Disease") 100+ artists and creatives and I learned a lot from it. I've had known musicians like Wretch 32, Gabrielle Aplin, Sinead Harnett, Tom Grennan, Sam Tompkins. We've talked about depression, adhd, mindfulness routines, what we pass on to our sons. I've talked to the famous podcaster Dr. Rangan Chatterjee and he remembered the pain of losing his father and how that changed his life. I've even had the pleasure to speak even to Jerome Flynn, which famously portrayed Bronn in the TV show Game Of Thrones, and with him we had a deep chat about acting, art and the struggle of many people living in today's world. I feel grateful to have had all these amazing interviews here. In this episode I try to recap everything I learned from it. 00:00 Intro 00:49 I started in 2017. 02:33 Everyone has a story. 05:46 Experience of pain. 10:04 Everyone wants the same thing. 14:07 We can bring our dreams to reality. 17:34 People give up. 18:56 Recap and DM me! I always love talking to producers and Mike Spencer is one of the very best with an incredible history of superbly made records for a wide variety of artist from Gabrielle Aplin and Tom Walker to Kylie and Zara Larsson. He's also responsible for so many of my favourite records of all time including "Heaven" by Emile Sande, "Spinning Around" by Kylie, "Salvation" by Gabrielle Aplin and the truly epic "Once" for Diana Vickers. We speak about all of these and more including how he got his first breaks as part of UK Dance act Definition Of Sound through to how he works at his incredible studio "The Larks Tongue" which is now entirely self sufficient as an energy source and home to ducks, geese and most recently otters (which we also talk about in a SAFG first!). It was such a joy chatting to him and I loved every minute of this episode , hope everyone enjoys the stories and truly inspiring journey of one of our true production gems from the UK. Don't call it a comeback! A return from a summer break means only one thing: a sweet recap of some of the releases that came out while we were soaking our sweaty bodies on seashores. Arctic Monkeys, Phoenix, Hot Chip, Built To Spill, Panda Bear and Sonic Boom (or Panda Boom as I like to call it), and Suede all prove that long careers lead to interesting creative milestones, while tenderlings like Jockstrap, Gabrielle Aplin and Sudan Archives lay a claim that not all new music sucks, like Boomers occasionally say.

This is one of my all time favourite conversations. This episode, I chatted to the wonderful Jack Williamson about his journey through the music business and his current relationship with the industry as a coach, psychotherapist and mental health activist. During the chat we realised that our paths had crossed back in the day. Whilst I was the head of sync at peermusic in the UK Jack was co-manager of Gabrielle Aplin. We were keen to sign Gabrielle and Jack and I definitely spoke about all things creative at least once in one of our past lives. This conversation though was really uplifting and inspiring to me to hear Jacks outlook on life, how he motivates himself to move forward, how he carved out his own path through the industry and how he is currently ticking items of his ‘fuck it' list. It's a great chat. I hope you enjoy it to. http://jackwilliamson.co.uk/ https://www.instagram.com/jackchristopherwilliamson/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/jackchristopherwilliamson/ http://musicandyou.co.uk/ https://www.instagram.com/musicandyouofficial/ Music and You Spotify playlists Get in touch with me via: behindthebusinesspod@gmail.com https://www.dcmusicpublishing.co.uk https://www.instagram.com/dcmusicpublishing https://twitter.com/dannychampion
From an apprenticeship in bands and a studio making karaoke tracks (which came in very useful later) , writer and producer Jez Ashurst has been part of some of the finest moments in modern pop music including "Secret Love Song" (Little Mix) , "Favourite Ex" (Maisie Peters) and the Christmas classic "One More Sleep" (Leona Lewis). Alongside this he's worked with artists including Tom Walker (who was originally his student when he taught at music colleges), Tom Grennan, Gabrielle Aplin, Claire Richards and Ella Henderson. Here he talks about how he found himself at his first writing camp with Carole King and his time working on Biff Stannard's music team for the X Factor plus some incredible insights into the writing process and his continued love of being in rooms with talented people making records. About Rich: Rich Robinson is EVP and Global Head of Synchronization and Media Original Music at Warner Chappell Music (WCM). In this role, he oversees music licensing opportunities for the publishing company's global business across film, television, advertising, production music, and more. Based in Los Angeles, he reports directly to Warner Chappell's Co-Chair and COO Carianne Marshall. He also played a key role in helping to launch the Creative Services department from the ground-up, which helps WCM's A&R, sync and digital teams identify new and untapped commercial and creative opportunities for its songwriters and rich catalogue of music. Robinson first joined Warner Chappell in 2018 as EVP of Sync and Creative Services, where he was responsible for leading the company's sync activities outside of the U.S. While in that role, his team was named Music Week's “Sync Team of the Year” in the UK, both in 2019 and 2020. Prior to joining Warner Chappell, Robinson spent five successful years at Warner Music, where he was VP, Sync of Warner Music UK and Europe. During his time at the record company, he placed a large number of tracks in major adverts, including the UK's coveted John Lewis Christmas campaign for two years running with songs from Lily Allen and Gabrielle Aplin. For this Christmas season, producer Jay Landers put together "A Sentimental Christmas with Nat "King" Cole," an album that refreshes some of Cole's holiday classics with new arrangements and a handful of new duets with new singing partners Johnny Mathis, John Legend, Gloria Estefan and more. Today on the show, Landers talks about the hows of whys of putting together this kind of project, and why Cole continues to sing these duets well after his death. Kristin Chenoweth and Calum Scott are two of Cole's singing partners this time around, and they talk about the experience, Cole, and what they learned about him in the process. Singer Alexandra Scott returns this week to talk about Icelandic pop artist Dadi Freyr and the Christmas songs he released in 2020 and 2021. This episode ends with a lovely cover of Low's "Just Like Christmas" by Gabrielle Aplin. Last year, Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker appeared on Twelve Songs in an episode that felt surprisingly intimate and, perhaps for that reason, became more personal than I expected. There is a commonly accepted idea that alcohol and creativity come hand in hand. When we look at many creatives who have been in the spotlight over the decades, it isn't uncommon to see problematic drinking habits linked to prolific creative output. In this conversation, creatives share how they changed their drinking, and the things they learned along the way. They all share their fears, and the sense of freedom to create that sobriety brought. We also discussed this recently with Kyle Ambition, a musician who took a break from alcohol and now moderates his consumption. Liz Horsman is a songwriter, producer, blogger and sometimes videographer. Her songwriting and production work feature on albums by artists such as Gabrielle Aplin, Rudimental, Emeli Sande, Rizzle Kicks, JP Cooper and Tom Walker. She hosts this discussion on alcohol and creativity.Sharon Walters is a London-based artist who creates hand-assembled collages celebrating Black women. The series, entitled 'Seeing Ourselves', explores under-representation in many arenas in particular, the arts and heritage sector and mainstream western media. So often blackness is represented as 'other'. Sharon provokes an alternative narrative of empowerment. Each piece is a reaffirmation of the right to ‘take up space' even when you don't see yourself in certain settings. Since graduating with a degree in Fine Art from Central St Martins (University of the Arts) in 2011, Sharon has developed her practice and continued her work with community arts organisations and museums, using them as platforms to explore and collaborate with the voices of those who are often unheard. In the sixteenth episode of season three of the Her Spirit podcast BBC Breakfast Louise Minchin and BBC Triathlon presenter Annie Emmerson talk to Emmy Brunner.Emmy is a Personal Empowerment and Transformation Coach, Psychotherapist, Hypnotherapist, CEO, Author and Speaker with more than 20 years of experience in both the business and clinical worlds. She believes that we’ve all experienced trauma in our lives and that what we refer to now as ‘mental illness’ is actually our response to those traumas with my clinical work framed by this belief. Throughout her career, she has discovered remarkable patterns in the ways women are conditioned to respond to life challenges. It was this insight that inspired her to create a bespoke coaching program designed to empower and free you to fully step into your power, elevating you to your highest potential. She truly loves sharing everything that she has learnt with other women and watching their lives transform in the most incredible ways.In 2019, she released my debut e-book, Trauma Redefined – an easy-to-digest short read with a foreword by singer-songwriter, Gabrielle Aplin, designed to help you take control of your journey to better mental health. Her next book is out later this month "Find Your True Voice".It's a very open and honest conversation about anxiety, depression and eating disorders. Emmy goes into how she works with so many of her clients and that many women don't have the confidence to back themselves and we don't trust ourselves to achieve more.Emmy stresses the importance of self care, being kind to yourself and nurturing yourself. If you want to focus on your own self development, it is so important to reflect on your own internal narrative. At Her Spirit we use out 7 day reflect diary which is an important tool to use. Out of work Emmy loves Bruce Springsteen and being active, from boxing - yoga - swimming she loves how it empowers her and motivates her young daughter to join her on her adventures. This weeks podcast is supported by My Menopause Centre https://www.mymenopausecentre.com/. Tipped as “one to watch” by NME, Mixmag, Billboard, DJ Mag and BBC R1’s Pete Tong, TSHA is a London based producer who is quickly emerging as one of the most exciting young artists around. Her forthcoming EP “Flowers”, without doubt her most ambitious and accomplished body of work so far, was released by Ninja Tune in October and featured collaborations with Gabrielle Aplin and Malian griot music group Trio Da Kali.Entirely self-taught, TSHA released her debut EP “Dawn” in 2018, setting out her stall as an artist with an ear for warm, groove-laden basslines and bright, melodic hooks. Her follow-up single “Sacred” - released in 2019 - immediately caught the ear of Simon Green aka Bonobo, who included it on his “fabric presents” compilation album.TSHA wrote her track ‘Sister’ during lockdown after she found out she had an older half sister. Since, she’s been selected as a BBC Radio One Future Artist and has featured on notable playlists on both Apple and Spotify, and also appearing on a billboard in Times Square for the latter! Together with American Songwriter, we had the pleasure of interviewing Malan Breton and Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin over Zoom video! Fashion Designer Malan Breton takes his signature voice with a new twist to the classic Christmas tune, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” as a duet with chart topping recording artist Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin. His Taiwanese baritone vibrato dances in a lovely way with her rich sultry mezzo soprano as the two deliver this beautiful rendition for this holiday season. Breton enlisted English producer Alex Davies who is best known for his co-write for Kodaline’s single ‘Brother.’ He also has penned singles for the likes of JONES as well as further collaborations with Birdy, Gabrielle Aplin, Sigrid and Elderbrook. Alex is also classically trained in arranging as well as being a professional Pianist, Guitarist & Violinist. Giovanni Damiani (Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Ray, ‘The Prayer’ by Andrea Bocelli) has also been enlisted for the A&R for this single. Malan and Consuelo will be giving back all the proceeds to Equity Fights Aids. The holiday classic is a follow up to Malan’s synth take on the classic “Something Stupid” which was a hit on the iTunes chart and hit Top 10 in France, Top 5 in Greece, Top 10 in the UK, and Top 100 in the US. The song has nearly 1 million streams on Spotify. The powerhouse dance songstress, Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin has joined this duet by bringing her rich vocals to this rendition. The two will be filming a video at the famed Vanderbilt Museum as a backdrop to this Christmas tune. “We have been friends for years and we have supported each other’s business endeavors throughout the years but never in music. It felt right on this Christmas Classic,” gushes Consuelo. Breton adds, “I wanted something special and magical and I think we have done just that on this track and with the backdrop of my fashion designs and with the classic Vanderbilt mansion it will bring that idea of magic!”Some of Vanderbilt Costin’s accolades include having 5 Top 10 singles on the Billboard Dance Charts and her music has skyrocketed on numerous International Charts. Not just a musical artist, she also adds tech entrepreneur to her list of accomplishments as she has successfully launched her digital platform, SOHOMUSE, where creatives can help creatives find jobs, find support and stay connected, network and sell their wares on the site’s newly created MARKETPLACE. With members that include top executives in the creative field such as Peter Landesman, Pauline Brown, Verne Mallis, Nicole Miller, and Breton himself, Consuelo is taking her entrepreneurial skills to new heights while also developing a podcast at the end of the year simply called “Delicious Conversations with Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin.”The power of Malan Breton’s brand does not quite explain the creative depth of who Breton is today. One of Taiwan’s most respected entrepreneurs, Breton is much more than just a fashion designer, or brand; he is an award-winning director, writer, actor, performer and over all prolific icon. Breton will also be dressing both talents for the video fresh off the digital runway. The combination of both Vanderbilt and Breton will make for this Christmas Classic truly reflect Breton’s tag line…Wherever you go shine.#MalanBreton #ConseuloVanderbiltCostin #I’llBeHomeForChristmasFor More Information on Malan BretonInstagram : www.instagram.com/malanbretonSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/5QlgOp2ERll4XYpiT16FjJWebsite: www.malanbreton.comCharity: www.broadwaycares.orgFor More Information on Consuelo Vanderbilt CostinInstagram: www.instagram.com/consuelo_vanderbilt_costin Facebook: www.facebook.com/consuelo.costin Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0KPQday4Tf5FCWrFKinqXS Website: www.sohomuse.comWe want to hear from you! Childhood friends Caitlin Carey and Mikey Adams form Safe Hands, a folk/pop duo from Boston, MA. Mikey (of pop-punk outfit A Loss For Words) has spent the last 16 years touring in over 30 countries and writing/releasing multiple records on various record labels, most notably Rise Records. In 2015, A Loss For Words decided to gracefully retire as a full-time band, leaving Mikey with so much music written and no band to release it with. He decided to call up Caitlin, with whom the last time he had sung with was 10 years prior in their high school's production of Beauty and the Beast (Cait as Belle, Mikey as Cogsworth). They got together one night and it instantly clicked. In the last couple of years, they have released a few singles sporadically, starting with "Love You Give Away," a beautiful love song. They played their debut live show in June 2019 to a sold-out crowd at The Sinclair in Cambridge, MA. With an 11 song full-length titled 'Highs & Lows' recorded and ready for the world's ears, they are proud and confident with the emotion-evoking art they have created. With influences spanning from The Civil Wars and Ray Lamontagne, to Sara Bareilles, Gabrielle Aplin, Colbie Caillat and John Mayer, they blend intelligent lyrics and catchy melodies seamlessly. These two are bound and poised for a bright future. Of the first single "Honestly", Mikey says, "I wrote this song while riding the high of a new, albeit brief relationship. It had been months since I had felt motivated to pick up a guitar and this just poured out of me. While the flame didn't last, at least I drew inspiration from it for which I am thankful." Regarding the emotional nature of the album, he adds, "This record is a culmination of years of heartache, loss, love and hope. Highs & Lows refers to the extreme of both ends of the emotional spectrum. When I feel, I feel all the way. I hope I've translated my emotions on this record in a relatable way and hope you all enjoy. Just remember if you feel hopeless, you're not and when you feel loved, cherish and remember it. This record is dedicated to my father and is released on his birthday. Most of this record was written in the cemetery he is buried in, where I lived in a car outside his grave for a year. It's all for him." The original version of ‘Everyone Changes’ already racked up more than 750,000 streams alone. And now this newest rendition with Gabrielle Aplin brings a whole new side to the single, lifting it up and bringing a more personal quality with it. Speaking about the new collaboration, Steve said, When we wrote ‘Everyone changes’ for our new album we always felt the song would work better as a duet, so with the help of Gabrielle Aplin and her beautiful vocals, here’s the result. ‘One Day At A Time’ The new album has been streamed more than 60 millions times and seen them garner another 100 million YouTube views. The deluxe edition will also feature two covers – ‘Teenage Kicks’ and ‘The Rare Auld Times’ and of course the previously released singles 'Wherever You Are', 'Sometimes', 'Saving Grace' and 'Say Something'. In the midst of a pandemic we all need something to look forward to, so The Coronas’ fans can rejoice as the band are set to release a new single, ‘Lost in The Thick of It’, on Friday 15th May. ‘Lost in The Thick of It’ is a collaboration, written and performed by The Coronas and acclaimed English singer-songwriter Gabrielle Aplin, and it features a melancholic piano hook, with Aplin and O’Reilly’s vocals complementing each other beautifully. Gabrielle reached a mainstream audience with her cover of Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s ‘The Power of Love’ used as the soundtrack to the John Lewis Christmas advertisement. Since then she has released three studio albums, most recently Dear Happy in January 2020. Singer Danny gives us the story of how the song came to be: ‘Gabrielle and her partner, Alfie (Hudson-Taylor) invited me to their home in Brighton last year for a weekend of hanging out. We said we might try to write a little but it was more like a mini-holiday in my mind. We wrote a song together on which Gabrielle sang lead vocals that became ‘Lost in The Thick of It’ and I loved the demo so much I suggested adding my vocal in a lower octave and making it a duet.’ Hit play to hear Dave's full chat with Danny.

My guest today is GABRIELLE BLOODY APLIN, ladies and gentlemen! We both grew up on YouTube together back in 2008 - and I remember seeing her videos and thinking... holy mother of God. Who is this woman?? Her MGMT 'Electric Feel' cover still blows my mind to this day. She was wonderful enough to invite Meadowlark on tour with her after we'd only been a band for a few months! She's been nothing but kind and supportive to me over the years and it was a total pleasure to sit down with her and chat PROPERLY after only ever really saying hi and bye to eachother at gigs. She's just announced the release date of her third album Dear Happy, alongside an absolute banger of a debut single 'Kintsugi'! I could go on and on, but instead I'll just highly recommend you let yourself indulge in her beauty on Spotify (after listening to our episode of course)! We dive into what it means to be truly free, burning out after her extensive PR/touring schedule, her ADHD diagnosis and what it feels like to live with that, mental health in general, veganism, being your own boss and lots more!Follow the Podcast: @wedivedeeperFollow Kate: @katemcgillFollow Gabrielle: @gabrielleaplinGet the FULL episodes a whole WEEK earlier for as little as $1 a month!Support the show (http://www.patreon.com/katemcgill)

A little While...уверен, будете подпевать. 2.Приятное открытие для меня, музыкант из Москвы, Кирилл Котлобай и его проект LastEDEN. Стильно, минимально, Alena Solo. Проникся. My love...for you... 3. 1.Dreaming Way feat. Angel Falls - A Little While (Bryan Milton remix) 2.LastEDEN feat Alena Solo- For You 3.Vasily Dvortsov-Imperceptibly 4.Ana Criado - Vulnerable (Nowhere To Hide) (Mark Otten Downtempo Remix) 5.Raz Nitzan & Moya Brennan - Find The Sun (Original Mix) 6.JES - Ghost (Lime Chillout Remix) 7.Nicholas Gunn feat. Alina Renae - Older 8.Paul van Dyk, Emanuele Braveri feat. Rebecca Louise Bu - Escape Reality Tonight 9.Rayan Myers Feat. Elsie - Love Is Universe (Original Mix) 10.Gabrielle Aplin - The Power of Love 11.Viola Martinsson - Ogon skriker ord 12.Paul Oakenfold feat. Carla Werner - Southern Sun (Carmen Rizzo remix) 13.Hammock- Cold Front (feat Maya) 14.Pinki Rings feat. Angelo Badalamenti - Gone 15.Linah Rocio feat The Lighthearted- Love Letter
