They discussed Kelly's journey from political consultant and activist to international house and petsitter and freelance writer. Key takaways:Life transitions, such as retirement or the loss of a loved one, can be catalysts for pursuing a nomadic lifestyle. It's essential to consider life stages and generational experiences when making the decision to launch oneself overseas as either an expat or a nomad.Building, maintaining and sustaining a tribe when you arrive and commit to living in a new place is critical. Friendships are crucial for nomads to combat loneliness and create a sense of community. Prioritizing the nurturing of friendships should be a key consideration when relocating.Invisible baggage or considerations,  such as financial, relationship, health, purpose, and career plays a significant role in the relocation process. It's important to manage these aspects gradually and give each the attention it deserves.Engaging with local communities, whether through online platforms like Facebook and Meetup or by attending local activities, can help nomads build a support network and gain cultural insights in their new location."I believe traveling is the best way to learn about yourself -- and about your partner. I. The Importance of Building Tribe What does it mean to have “Tribe”. Define what Tribe means. Why is this an important topic to discuss in today's climate? Why are we connecting Dog Training and Building Tribe? We often take our connection with the dogs for granted, and how much similarity there is between our interpersonal connections and our connection with our dogs. II. The Foundation: Trust and Respect (Link to Dog Training) -Discuss the importance of trust and respect in dog training. -Translate these concepts into building human relationships within your tribe. -Building a Tribe doesn't mean that you are close friends with everyone and that you would trust them to have your back. It is about having a network that offers mutual benefit to both parties. III. Clear Communication: The Key to Successful Training and a Thriving Tribe -Discuss the role of clear, consistent communication in dog training. -Explain how these principles apply to human interactions within a community or tribe. -We often make the mistake of thinking we have to share everything about our lives with every member of our Tribe. There are many different levels to your Tribe, and communication should be catered to each accordingly. IV. Positive Reinforcement: Encouraging Desired Behavior -Talk about the concept of positive reinforcement in dog training. -Discuss how this can be adapted to encourage participation, engagement, and positive behavior within your tribe. -Always remember that relationships go both ways. You want to be a benefit to each member of your network as well as find members of the network that can benefit you. You get more of what you encourage and less of what you discourage…generally speaking. V. Handling Conflict: Lessons from Behavior Correction in Dog Training -Discuss techniques used in dog training to correct undesirable behaviors. -Explore how these strategies can be applied to conflict resolution within your tribe. -Don't make the mistake of thinking that every disagreement is worth arguing over. It doesn't matter the political perspective of your butcher or plumber. It is more important to find the areas where you have common ground to build a relationship. VI. Consistency and Routine: Building a Reliable Tribe -Discuss the importance of consistency and routine in dog training. -Translate this to the building of reliable relationships and regular engagement within your tribe. -Invest into the people in your tribe. You can do this be supporting their business and proving to be a loyal customer. You can do it by having bar-b-que and developing closer relationships with certain people. VII. The Role of Patience and Persistence in Training and Tribe Building -Discuss the need for patience and persistence in dog training. -Relate this to the time and effort required to build a strong, connected tribe. -This is not an over night experience. I have been at events where people are running around frantically trying to build a Tribe in a weekend. That is not how any of this works. - Websites: fortressk9.com ; fortressk9.com/puppies ; k9academy.us - NOSTR pub key npub1j8neuc5udhsp3z336zgzlgwslxwf3gulh4fyxk2w22hxsuvv2emq4xyua7 - Email: fortressk9@gmail.com or joel@fortressk9.com - Text me at 813-836-9244. Dunbar's Number and Building Your Tribe   Matt and Garrett tackle the concept of ‘Dunbar's Number', or the idea that individuals can effectively maintain 150 relationships or fewer, on today's podcast. They begin by reflecting upon the virtual holiday party they recently held for their coaching team which leads to a discussion of the challenges and benefits of running a virtual company and the importance of building a strong sense of community and tribe among team members who are spread out across the country. In light of this fact, they then consider the implications of the Dunbar's Number concept for building and maintaining relationships in business and personal life, and discuss the benefits of having around 150 key contacts, as well as the importance of providing good customer service.  Our hosts go on to review the value of having systems in place to manage and maintain relationships with both the inner circle of 150 and the larger pool of customers, and touch on the idea of prioritizing relationships with key contacts and the potential for these relationships to lead to repeat business and referrals. They also talk about the benefits of having a smaller number of high-quality relationships and the value of seeking out and joining a supportive group or ‘tribe'. The importance of putting in effort to build and maintain these relationships and the need to give time and attention to these relationships in order to keep them strong is also examined. Finally, they explore the idea of "auditing" one's database, bringing in new contacts to strengthen the inner circle, and the importance of being authentic and genuine in these relationships. Happy New Year Everyone! I am so excited to kick off 2022 with a new podcast series called ‘Barrister to Barista' where we hear stories of featured Singapore lawyers who have ventured out into the coffee scene and pursued a coffee business. Denise Lum is a former corporate lawyer at Shearman & Sterling LLP and is now a proud co-founder of Maxi Coffee Bar here in Singapore. Denise graduated from University College London in 2011 with a Bachelor of Law (LLB) and soon after, she passed the New York Bar in 2012. Being a young successful female entrepreneur in the F&B space, she is certainly an inspiration! “Be very sure of your WHY because that is the one thing that will keep you anchored and that you have to come back to regardless of whatever uncertainties and circumstances and whatever it is that life throws at you”. Denise always felt like she wanted to wear a different hat and together with her business partner, Joy, they have created an organic community with tremendous support. Denise shared with us that they had to get creative during these uncertain times and ended up building an online delivery platform that caters both their drinks and full café menu. Despite her significant career change, Denise managed to strike the balance to lead as a boss of her business. What impressed me the most was her sharing that we should hold onto that authenticity while staying humble and wanting to grow and learn! Check out Maxi Coffee Bar on Instagram @maxi.coffeebar and visit their coffee shop at 6 Ann Siang Hill, Singapore 069787.

Same content, same great vibe, just a new name. I am so excited about this change - however, the way it all occurred, well I wasn't too over the moon about. I share the story of why we are re-branding in this episode. But the new name - The Confident Mama Collective - I feel like it really embodies what this is all about much more. Over the past couple of months, I've felt a natural transition to helping mamas feel more confident - both in themselves and within their bodies. There are some really exciting things to come for all of us - 2020 is just the beginning! I also talk about what we can do when we can't do all the things - and I talk about this because it's how I have been feeling to start off this year. It's okay to take a break - a little time out and some understanding goes such a long way for ourselves. And finally - I am so grateful for this tribe we are building! I am grateful every single day for the connections I'm making and the relationships I'm forming with YOU! And I am so excited to help YOU build your tribes too. But more on that in the coming weeks and months. As always, thank you for listening and a HUGE thank you for your support. It means more than you know. You can still find me on Instagram - but now @confidentmamacollective The Facebook group has had a name change, and the face lift will commence shortly! But in the meantime, you can find the closed group full of beautiful like minded mamas right here.
