Lisa is a freelance sound engineer from Germany, now based in Auckland, New Zealand. She started doing sound in 2000 while trying to figure out what to do with her life after school. In 2003 she ditched her social work studies to pursue a career doing sound for live events and has never looked back. Doing monitors has been an early and lasting passion. Preparing the gear and programming a console to suit her workflow, figuring out what each musician wants and needs, and mixing it ties together all the awesome aspects in live events: tech, people, creativity, performance. She is a highly regarded RF coordinator across New Zealand, having done coordination for all major festivals and many large sport events. She tries teaching basic coordination to anyone in the industry and has held workshops. She also runs regular meetups open to all women and queer people in our wider industry, inviting all techs and crew across departments. She also initiated a chatgroup for women and queer people, it‘s a good place to ask tech questions, look for crew or rant. What if healing our communities begins with healing our relationship to the land? Welcome, regenerators, to a powerful conversation on sustainability, justice, and regenerative living with Minkah Taharkah. As an environmental scientist, community advocate, and leader with B Healthy B Holistic Consultation, the California Farmer Justice Collaborative, and The Butterfly Movement, Minkah is helping reimagine our relationship with land, food, and each other. Today, she explains how the Earth serves as the common thread in her work—from sustainable fashion to land justice advocacy—and how the CFJC pushes for equity for BIPOC farmers and socially disadvantaged ranchers through policy and legislation. We also unpack the difference between conventional farming and ecosystem land tending, highlighting reciprocal practices and traditional ecological knowledge like intercropping to protect soil health and combat “nutritional warfare.” Finally, Minkah shares how The Butterfly Movement uses art, food, and the African principle of Sankofa (“go back and fetch it”) to foster intergenerational healing and deeper community connection. This conversation is a powerful reminder that when we root ourselves in the land and each other, we grow something no system can take away. Besides a Masters in Educational Administration, she has a Masters in Elementary Education with Montessori Primary and a Masters in Theology. She delights in being with children in a Level 1,2, and 3 atria while also traveling to give formation courses both nationally and internationally.
