Der erste Podcast im neuen Jahr, und dann auch noch live vor der Kamera? Mit einem großen Off-Topic-Quiz, das für manche nicht groß genug sein konnte? Zum vierten Mal besucht Roland Jürgen in Höhr-Grenzhausen, zum dritten Mal läuft beim Podcast die Kamera. Unerschrockene Zuhörer erfahren, wie wir ins neue Jahr gekommen sind, was es Neues vom „The Division“-Duo gibt, und wo überall ab sofort Off Topic zu hören ist – unter anderem auf Spotify, YouTube und iTunes. Musikalisch geht es weiter: Roland besuchte unmittelbar vor der Reise in den Süden das Neujahrskonzert der Essener Philharmoniker und berichtet. Jürgen hat Fury in the Slaughterhouse auf Magenta TV verfolgt, Die Krupps gastieren 2026 in San Francisco und Star-VJ Ray Cokes aus dem jüngst geschlossenen MTV Deutschland hat beim RBB eine eigene Show. Natürlich darf auch in diesem Jahr ein kontinuierliches Geschenkeauspacken nicht fehlen. Nach dem schon erwähnten Off-Topic-Quiz, das nach einhelliger Meinung mit doppelt so viele Fragen, Teilnehmern und Preisen auch im nächsten Jahr an den Start gehen darf, öffnen wir die Podcast-Bühne für unsere Hörer. О самом стиле и его истоках:Electronic body music (EBM) — жанр электронной музыки, сочетающий в себе элементы индустриальной музыки и синти-панка с элементами танцевальной музыки. Он возник в начале 1980-х годов в Западной Европе как результат развития панк- и индустриальной музыкальной культуры. Он сочетает в себе последовательные повторяющиеся басовые партии, запрограммированные ритмы танцевальной музыки и, в основном, неискаженный вокал и командные крики с конфронтационными или провокационными темами. It was considered a part of the European new wave and post-punk movement and the first style that blended synthesized sounds with an ecstatic style of dancing (e.g. pogo). EBM gained a stable following in the second half of the 1980s. Around that period, a youth-cultural scene emerged from EBM whose followers describe themselves as EBM-heads or (in North America) as rivetheads. The term electronic body music was first used by Ralf Hütter of the German electronic band Kraftwerk in an interview with British music newspaper Sounds in November 1977. In June 1978 Hütter reused the phrase in an interview with WKSU radio (Kent, Ohio) to explain the more physical character of the Kraftwerk album The Man-Machine. Although the term originated in the late 1970s, it was not until the 1980s when it reappeared and started to come into popular use. "EBM stands for 'electronic body music', a term which only really came into use when the Brits and Belgians stepped into the 'sequencer business' with bands like Nitzer Ebb and Front 242. There you could find that sound again, where it was catchily picked up and labelled. In our days all these terms didn't exist, not 'industrial' nor 'post-punk'. Der Name bis heute ein Mythos: Krupp! Man denkt an die hochherrschaftliche Villa Hügel in Essen, an Stahl, aber auch an Kanonen und Schlachtschiffe "made by Krupp". On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman interviews the members of the band Fleischkrieg. Pipeman expresses his admiration for their music, which he describes as a combination of industrial metal and new wave. He appreciates that the band has created its own genre, which he finds cool for many reasons. Pipeman often asks bands to describe their genre, and they jokingly refer to their music as power slop, but Fleischkrieg has coined the term brutal wave, which they feel aptly describes their music. Fleischkrieg members credit Thomas for coming up with the term brutal wave, which they initially thought was silly but has since grown on them. When they have to describe their music, publicists ask them to come up with creative and unique genres that often lead to the creation of micro-genres, which Fleischkrieg feels forced to participate in. All the members of the band come from different musical backgrounds, but they share a common love for dance synth, metal, and new wave. This combination of influences led to the creation of their unique genre, brutal wave. Pipeman shares his musical journey with the members of Fleischkrieg, describing how he was a teenager in the 80s and lived on the Sunset Strip, where he encountered the snobbish attitude of US Metalheads towards new wave music. He recalls a funny incident when he discovered and fell in love with Adam and the Ants' Kings of the Wild Frontier, which he describes as one of his favorite albums to date. Pipeman expresses his appreciation for Fleischkrieg, which he believes has allowed him to be a metalhead and a new waiver at the same time, fulfilling his musical dream. Finally, the guys talk about how they come from different musical backgrounds but share a common love for dance synth, metal, and new wave, which led to the creation of their unique sound. When the opening act dropped out of Thomas's solo “Ceraphym” show, he invited Richard to perform in their place. Richard agreed with the caveat that Thomas play guitars, and FLEISCHKRIEG was formed. The group, currently based in L.A., cite Rammstein, DK-Zero, Die Krupps, and Lord of the Lost as musical influences. Their moody electronic sound melds industrial metal with darkwave undertones, creating the genre of “Brutalwave”: a blend of new wave, metal guitars, and crushing industrial dance beats andvocals.
