Every screen feels crowded these days—feeds stacked with ads, inboxes bursting with unread promotions, and attention spans stretched thin. In that kind of environment, even good marketing slips past unnoticed, lost in the constant scroll. Physical mail, on the other hand, shows up differently; it can't be swiped away in a second or buried under notifications. There's something about holding a piece of communication in your hands that makes it harder to ignore. In a digital-first world, that small bit of tangibility can feel surprisingly refreshing. https://youtu.be/JiN1BhP_trc Carlos Alonso deSantos, owner of Catdi Printing, has grown a family print shop into a national business across the U.S. and Canada. His start came from helping promote his parents' art gallery, which revealed a gap in affordable print services. Today, he talks about the evolution of direct mail and why design and targeting matter more than ever. He also highlights how AI is reshaping print marketing, blending traditional reach with modern precision. Stay tuned! Quotes: “People like to get tangible marketing materials—whether that be a flyer or a direct mail piece.” “AI is a definite game changer. Just in the past year or two, what it's been capable of doing is just amazing.” “It is a touches repetition game. It's definitely like—the more times people see your piece, even if the first time they may throw it away.” Resources: Boost your business with Catdi Printing's all-in-one printing and direct mail solutions. “Imposter Syndrome in Car Journalism + Why 911s Are Driven by Pricks!”Yes, we went there. From battling self-doubt in the industry to a savage takedown of Porsche 911 culture, this BrownCarGuy Therapy Session pulls no punches. But that's just the start…In this episode I'm joined by:

After a brief week off, the boys are back—and Bryan's now a Redditor. Yes, it finally happened. He made his debut by posting his latest find: a Ford Focus ST... that he bought for $500. What followed was a firestorm of reactions from the Reddit car community—ranging from stunned disbelief to straight-up envy. Was it a deal of the decade, or is there a catch?Meanwhile, Mario and Bryan rejoice over YouTube's latest policy change: swearing in the first few seconds is no longer demonetized! Today Chris raises the question expressed in the title of this episode. Enthusiasts for Artificial Intelligence promise that chatbots will make everyone more efficient and productive--even novelists and scholars. But is that really possible considering what history's most famous creatives tell us about how they went about their work? People who've looked into their daily routines such as Oliver Burkeman (author of, Four Thousand Weeks, Time Management for Mortals) and Mason Currey (author of, Daily Rituals) inform us that people like Charles Darwin and Flannery O'Connor only worked 3 to 4 hours a day on the things we remember them for. The rest of the time they did other things--mostly unrelated. So, would they have gotten more done with the help of artificial intelligence? The Pugs have their doubts. Tune in and find out why. VR3 - It 's Thomas, Lydia, and Matt versus the entire National Review editorial board! Join us as we take on the conservative magazine's recent op-ed on why it is extremely rude to compare masked American federal agents of today who refuse to identify themselves as they grab innocent families off of the street and shove them into unmarked vans bound for concentration camps to masked Nazi German agents of 1933-1945 who refused to identify themselves as they grabbed innocent families off the street and shoved them into vans bound for concentration camps. Matt explains with historical examples why ICE is not NOT the Gestapo as we consider what we can learn from Nazi history. We celebrate the recent return of Maryland father Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the US after his illegal deportation to El Salvador with a take so bad that it is hard to believe that the whole thing wasn't actually published in The Onion. What was the audience for this willfully obtuse Newsweek op-ed praising the DOJ for finding a way to bring Abrego Garcia back other than the fact that the Supreme Court told them to, and what is this trying to say to them? Has this thing already aged worse than Stephen Miller? Finally: updates from Martha's Vineyard (last week's patron-only story) as Epstein attorney Alan Dershowitz and his crusade to bring down the considerable weight of the law against people who refuse to serve him tasty Polish food. WATCH US ON YOUTUBE! ”ICE is No Gestapo,” The Editors, National Review (8/6/25) "Why Was Kilmar Abrego Garcia Returned to the US?", Thomas G. In this exciting episode of the Jeep Talk Show, host Tony Muckleroy sits down with Tom Zielinski, off-road enthusiast and creator of Four Fest Events, to dive deep into the world of Jeeps, off-roading, and the brand's evolving direction. Tom shares his insights on why Jeep shouldn't become solely a luxury brand like Range Rover or Mercedes G-Wagon, but instead balance its rugged roots for "rednecks and people like me" with high-end appeal. "There's plenty of room for both," as Tom puts it – from hardcore trail warriors to aspirational luxury seekers. We cover: - Jeep's new leadership under Bob Broderdorf and the shift back to core enthusiast values. - Upcoming events: Detroit Four Fest (September 5-6) with rock climb time trials, Off-Road Night Fest sponsored by Tyri Lights, and West Virginia Four Fest (September 26-28) at ACE Adventure Resort. - Balancing profits with Jeep's iconic "Jeepness" – off-road capability, community, and adventure. - EV tech in Jeeps: Thoughts on the 4xe, Recon, and why full self-driving (like Tesla's) could transform towing to Moab, but infrastructure and enthusiast driving experience must come first. - Welcoming newbies to off-roading: Tips on safe trails, stock Jeep capabilities, and building the Jeep community (without the club drama!). - Sponsor shoutouts: Get 15% off Trails Off Road with code JTS15 at TrailsOffRoad.com – detailed trail guides for your next adventure. Protect your windshield with 20% off Windshield Defense using JTS20 at WindshieldDefense.com. And don't miss Tyri Lights for military-grade brightness and durability. Whether you're a seasoned Jeeper hitting the trails or a newbie dreaming of your first Wrangler or Gladiator, this episode is packed with passion, stories, and real talk on keeping Jeep authentic.
When I first saw the product from NoNormal, I was intrigued. A coffee paste… in a tube? I'd never seen anything like it. But as someone who loves coffee and spends a lot of time outdoors, I instantly got the appeal. In this episode, I chat with Alexander Haberlin, co-founder of NoNormal, about how a backcountry hike in Switzerland sparked a completely new way to experience coffee and how it evolved from a spray-painted tomato paste tube to a beautiful, functional, adventure-ready product. We go deep into the product story, the entrepreneurial journey, and the intentional choices behind flavor, packaging, and mission. As I sipped the coffee while we talked, I was blown away. Not only is it incredibly convenient, but it also tastes great. You can drink it hot, cold, or even spread it on toast. What started as a creative solution for outdoor coffee drinkers has evolved into a ritual and is now a growing brand with a passionate community. Here are a few key takeaways from our conversation: * NoNormal's coffee paste is a first-of-its-kind, shelf-stable product made with Fairtrade Arabica beans and housed in recyclable aluminum tubes—born from a love of hiking and a need for better trail coffee. * Alexander and his co-founder hand-filled the first prototypes in their Swiss kitchen, validating the idea via crowdfunding before going all-in on manufacturing. * The product found early success through a mix of “chaos packaging” buzz and genuine functionality for outdoor adventurers—and even jungle explorers! * Their biggest lesson: validate early, prototype fast, and don't be afraid to mix form and function with love and obsession over the details. * Whether it's stirred in hot water, blended into peanut butter, or licked off a spoon during a jungle trek, NoNormal coffee is all about that magic moment of pause and pleasure in the outdoors. Join me, Ramon Vela, as we listen to the episode and discover how a bold, unusual idea can become a beautiful, purposeful product. This isn't just a coffee story; it's a story of creativity, intention, and building something remarkable from the ground up. Apple CarPlay is great, but is Ultra a step too far to differentiate the in-cabin experience? The guys discuss the dichotomy of unreliability vs. cost. Does making a vehicle reliable just mean dumping more money into it, and have we confused the terms ‘unreliable' and ‘expensive?' GET YOUR TICKETS TO WANGERS KARAOKE VOL.6 LIVE IN LOS ANGELES SEP 7: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/wangers-karaoke-2026-tickets-1412626486849?aff=oddtdtcreatorHi! Welcome back to the show! TONIGHT, Ken Napzok returns. This man is on a mission to become our most frequent guest. RB3, Eric, and Alex are SHAKING in their boots. Do people still wear boots? Bit of a dumb question, I suppose. Plenty of areas in the country have that western vibe going on. What about spurs on the boots? Are those still a thing? Not that anyone asked, but I always found walking in boots to be incredibly difficult. Like, is the human body meant to be restricted that much with our calves and whatnot when walking? Then there's the whole other thing with putting the boots on and taking them off. You gotta like arch your foot downward like a ballet dancer to get em on. I'd imagine someone's broken an ankle or something trying to do this with a fresh pair of stiff boots. And what's our take on clothing with boots? Are those a pants/jeans only situation? Do shorts ever look good with boots in a non-ironic way? I wonder if it's similar to how Converse shoes don't really look great with shorts even though they ride higher up past the ankle. Is that just a me thing, though? I loved wearing Converse but I always felt weird pairing those with shorts. But then it felt like a waste to put jeans over the top of them because then it's like, what's the point, you know? You gotta show off that top half of the shoe. You ever seen someone wear Converse, shorts and high socks? That's a whole other ball game. What kind of socks does one wear with Converse? What kind of socks does one wear with boots? I'd imagine you'd have to have a thick pair of socks with boots because the interior of those boots can't be very cushiony. I don't know if Vans still does this but I have an older pair of your standard black and white swiggly Vans that were labeled as "extra cush." I bought them partly for the bit of it all but I gotta say, that cush has come in really clutch. There are not a single pair of boots out there that can help me dismount from this YouTube description. Anyway, please come to Wangers Karaoke. There might be boots.
This summer, while I continue to heal from surgery and dream up Season 6, I am re-airing our most popular series: Creative Archetypes! If you are unfamiliar with the Enneagram, you can listen to the intro episode from the original 2023 series here. And if you are familiar and know your number, might I suggest you listen to each episode (even those that aren't about your number) to develop empathy and understanding of those who see the world differently. The Enneagram is a powerful tool for personal and relationship transformation, for artists and everyone! If you have episode ideas, dream guest suggestions, or other feedback for me, drop me an email hello@artistsforjoy.org Original show notes: In this week's episode of Artists for Joy, we talk creative joy with some of our favorite Enneagram 7s. Christa Hardin, marriage counselor and author, Molly Wilcox, author and editor, and pastor, writer, and percussionist, Rev. Edwin Estevez share what life as an Enthusiast is like and what they believe they offer in the creative process. What's the difference between being an enthusiast and a critic? Can you love something - really love it - without being pretentious about it? In this episode, Sarah and I head to the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Chicago to wrestle with a question that's been nagging me for weeks: what's the fine line between appreciation and snobbery? Along the way, I talk with Dylan Quinn and Jeremy Schultz from the Guinness team about beer, comparison, and the myth of the “expert.” This one's about more than beer. It's about passion, humility, identity - and learning to enjoy the pour without putting yourself on a pedestal.
Sunflowers are in full bloom in St. Louis. The hearty plants are an important part of the ecosystem. In addition to being edible for humans and other animals, sunflowers support pollinators — and serve as an attraction for doves during hunting season. The fields at Columbia Bottom Conservation Area also provide a colorful, sunny backdrop for photos.
