Summary Andrew Unkefer, an industry legend joins us to talk about the importance of relationships in the industry, the impact of technology, the future of the producer and IMO space, the shift to virtual meetings, consolidation in the industry, the impact of regulation, and the integration of estate planning and financial solutions. Andrew also shares his personal focus and future plans. Takeaways Relationships are still a key aspect of the insurance industry and producers and IMOs that prioritize serving their producers and building partnerships will thrive. The industry is experiencing a shift towards virtual meetings, with some producers successfully initiating relationships and conducting business through platforms like Zoom. Consolidation is happening in the industry, and producers and IMOs need to adapt and concentrate their businesses to remain successful. The integration of estate planning and financial solutions presents a significant opportunity for producers to provide a higher level of benefits and services to their clients. Regulation is an ongoing concern in the industry, but state-level protection can help ensure consumer protection and maintain the integrity of the industry. Long ago a financial planner told me the key to success was to have a steady job, invest in any company 401K plan that is offered, get and stay married to the same person, buy a house in an up-and-coming neighborhood, live within your means and wait. Tens of thousands of federal/postal workers and retirees fit the profile, except maybe for the one spouse rule. Even so, the fact is that a lot of people fit the profile of somebody who has done very well financially, especially if they have been with one employer for 20 or 30 years, and if that employer offers a 401K plan, a generous company match and a retirement plan. Maybe they fit it better than they realize. Estate attorney Thomas O’Rourke said the key tools in most estate plans include wills, powers of attorney, medical directives, and trusts. O’Rourke was the guest on this week’s episode of the Your Turn radio show and he talked about things you should be doing to plan for retirement, and how often you should review your plan. Tune in to the show Wednesdays at 10 a.m. at www.federalnewsradio.com or 1500 AM in the D.C. metro area.

In this episode, Scott Keffer, author, speaker, coach and wealth planner, shares with Jack how he helps Financial Advisors, Money Managers and Estate Planners take control of their own business and accomplish the goals they had in mind when they first went into this industry. Most advisors are taught to cast a wide net and talk to everyone and accept anyone as a client in their business. As a result, they work long hours and don’t make the amount of money they should be making. Furthermore, they often don’t enjoy working with some of the clients they’ve engaged.Scott helps financial advisors develop a different mindset, similar to that of a country club, where a potential client has to “apply” to be accepted as a client. Those accepted would be preferred clients who allow the advisor to let go of other clients who are not the ideal fit. This leads to making more money, working fewer hours and enjoying working with the clients they do have. The mindset and the strategies which Scott shares can be applied to many other industries and businesses and are well worth listening to.To Learn More:Email: scott@scottkeffer.com for a Special Report and Free CDsource: http://influencersradio.com/scott-keffer-business-success-for-financial-advisors-money-managers-and-estate-planners/
