Crafting a Faithful Legacy for Future Generations with Jeanne McMains

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children…” - Proverbs 13:22That verse teaches that a life of faithful stewardship will enable you to leave something of great value to your heirs. How you do it can impact future generations. Jeanne McMains joins us today to talk about “intentional inheritance.” Jeanne McMains has been a practicing attorney in estate planning, business succession, and non-profits since 1995. She currently serves as the Vice President of Gift Planning with The National Christian Foundation (NCF), where she assists families nationwide with achieving their charitable gift-planning goals. What Is an Intentional Inheritance? An intentional inheritance is more than the distribution of wealth. It's a prayerful, purposeful plan for shaping the lives of those who will receive what we leave behind. Inheritance is one of the most significant stewardship decisions we make. It's not just about how much but how—and why—we give. This perspective calls for a deep shift. Before passing on wealth, we must first pass on wisdom. Otherwise, unmanaged or misunderstood wealth can do more harm than good.Start with Prayerful IntrospectionAsk yourself: What role does wealth play in my life? Reframe your mindset around money—not as a measure of success or security but as a tool for Kingdom work. Wealth is an entrustment from God, not an end in itself. That means laying it down at the cross daily, asking the Lord to help us steward it with humility and grace.Three Types of InheritanceTo simplify this big task, here are three kinds of inheritance every Christian family should consider:1. Inheritance to SpendThis is the traditional kind of inheritance—resources intended to provide opportunities, experiences, and essentials. Think of it as financial fuel to help your heirs live productive, content lives. But maturity matters. Consider using this inheritance to fund training, travel, or education before a large transfer, especially if the heir is still developing financial literacy or spiritual maturity.2. Inheritance to ShapeThis is where legacy comes to life. Instead of simply giving money, consider shaping character through shared experiences—like mission trips, retreats, or projects that reflect your family's values.3. Inheritance to ShareWe're blessed to be a blessing. Set aside a portion of your estate to fuel generosity in the next generation. This might include donor-advised funds, charitable trusts, or other giving vehicles your heirs can use to support ministries or causes close to their hearts. This is how we teach our children to reflect God's love through giving.Practical Steps to Craft an Intentional InheritanceHere are four foundational steps to take:1. Engage in Open DialogueTalk with your heirs about the purpose behind the inheritance. Focus less on how much and more on why. Share your values, your heart for the Kingdom, and how you hope the inheritance will be used to bless others. This conversation builds trust, understanding, and spiritual alignment. It's not about dollars and zeros; it's about attitude, opportunity, and calling.2. Work with Faith-Aligned AdvisorsChoose financial and legal professionals who share your biblical worldview. Whether you're working with an estate attorney or a financial planner, the right team will help ensure your legacy is stewarded with wisdom and integrity. That's why we recommend connecting with a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA). To find one near you, visit FaithFi.com and click “Find a Professional.”3. Prepare Your HeirsDon't wait until the inheritance is distributed. Teach your heirs financial literacy and spiritual stewardship now. Let them stumble, learn, and grow while you're still here to mentor and encourage them.4. Use Strategic ToolsLeverage estate planning vehicles like wills, trusts, donor-advised funds, and charitable gift plans. These tools help ensure your assets are distributed in a way that promotes ongoing generosity and reflects your commitment to faithful living.Even well-meaning inheritances can lead to confusion, entitlement, or spiritual drift without intentional planning. But with prayer, purpose, and preparation, your legacy can be a launching pad for generations of Kingdom impact.Want to learn more?Explore practical tools and gospel-centered resources at NCFgiving.com to help you build a legacy of generosity and faith. You're generous; you love to give. But how do you know that your giving is having a real impact? It's great that you have a heart for giving. The next step is to make sure your giving really counts…and that's by aligning it with God's heart. David Wills is here today to help us do that.David Wills is President Emeritus of The National Christian Foundation (NCF). He is also the co-author of Investing in God's Business (The “How To” of Smart Christian Giving) and numerous articles and lectures nationwide.  The Three Big Questions of GenerosityWhen it comes to giving, most Christians wrestle with three fundamental questions:Why should I be generous? How do I give?Where should I give? The first two questions deal with the heart and the head—our motivations for generosity and the practical ways to implement it. But the third question—where should I give?—often receives less attention. Instead of starting with our passions, we should begin with God's priorities.God asks us to be generous on every occasion so that it brings Him glory and joy to our hearts. But instead of asking, “What am I passionate about?” We should ask, “What is God passionate about?”A Framework for Giving: The Three-by-Three GridTo help believers align their giving with God's priorities, David introduced a three-by-three framework that incorporates both geography and biblical causes.1. The Geography of GivingA great biblical guide for the where of giving comes from Acts 1:8:“You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”This verse provides a three-tiered approach to geographic giving:Local (Jerusalem)—Giving within our immediate communities, such as supporting our local church and meeting local needs. National (Judea and Samaria)—Supporting broader efforts within our country, including church planting, evangelism, and charitable organizations. International (Ends of the Earth)—Expanding generosity to global missions, Bible translation, and aid to those who have never heard the Gospel. Most people focus on what's right in front of them—their local church or nearby needs. However, a biblical giving strategy challenges us to think beyond our immediate surroundings.2. The Biblical Priorities of GivingScripture reveals three overarching themes that reflect God's heart for giving:The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20)—Supporting efforts that spread the Gospel, such as evangelism, church planting, missions, and discipleship. The Greatest Commandment (Matthew 22:37-38)—Giving to ministries that help people grow in their love for God, including churches, theological education, and discipleship initiatives. The Great Compassion (Matthew 22:39)—Caring for our neighbors by giving to those in need—orphans, widows, the poor, and the vulnerable. These three biblical priorities form the vertical axis of the giving framework, while geography forms the horizontal axis.By overlaying these two dimensions—geography and biblical priorities—believers can develop a well-rounded and God-centered giving plan. This framework helps us see the gaps in our giving. Many believers focus on what's nearby, but God calls us to care for those who have never heard the Gospel or are in extreme need.Making Giving a Family PracticeOne of the most powerful aspects of this framework is its ability to teach children about generosity. Parents can use this model to discuss giving priorities as a family and even create a family giving plan that reflects God's heart. We encourage families to:Sit down together and map out their giving on the three-by-three frameworkDiscuss where they are giving too much or too little.Involve children in researching and selecting ministries that align with biblical priorities.Regularly review and adjust their giving strategy as a family. For those who want to track their giving over time, organizations like the National Christian Foundation (NCF) provide tools to help families and individuals monitor their generosity.Aligning Your Giving with God's HeartUltimately, giving isn't about following personal passions—it's about reflecting God's heart. By using a biblical framework for giving, we can be more intentional and experience greater joy in generosity.Take Action Today:Assess your current giving. Does it align with God's heart?Use the three-by-three framework to create a more balanced, intentional plan.Involve your family in discussions about generosity.Consider using a giving platform like NCF to track and refine your generosity over time.To read David's full article on this topic, explore Faithful Steward, FaithFi's new quarterly magazine. You can access it by becoming a FaithFi Partner for $35 per month or $400 per year at FaithFi.com/give.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:My daughter is turning 16 today, and I'd like to help her become more responsible with her money. Can you recommend any debit cards or apps that are good options for teens? I'm looking for something faith-oriented.I'm working and married, and we'll be at full retirement age by the end of this year. Or should I just keep working and wait for a higher income from Social Security later on?Resources Mentioned:Faithful Steward: FaithFi's New Quarterly MagazineNational Christian Foundation (NCF)Money Teen Checking Account (Capital One) | GreenlightLook At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) or Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000. Women and the Great Wealth Transfer with Sharon Epps

You've heard of the Great Wealth Transfer taking place as Baby Boomers pass away, but did you know that women will inherit the majority of those assets? It's true. The Great Wealth Transfer is really horizontal, with widows inheriting most private wealth before it's passed on to the next generation. Sharon Epps joins us today to talk about how women should prepare.Sharon Epps is the president of Kingdom Advisors, our parent organization. Kingdom Advisors is a group dedicated to training financial professionals to guide and advise you according to biblical principles.Women as the Primary InheritorsOne surprising fact is that women will inherit the majority of this wealth. Since women typically outlive men by about six to seven years, nearly 70% will experience widowhood and manage their spouse's share of assets. In addition to inheriting from their husbands, many women will also receive an inheritance from their parents, and, increasingly, they are generating their own income through employment. This convergence of income streams will place an estimated two-thirds of U.S. assets—around $30 trillion—under women's control by 2030, according to McKinsey & Company. The Heart of Generosity: Purpose, Passion, and PlanThe wealth transfer isn't just about financial assets; it's a significant opportunity for generosity. Three key factors inspire generosity: purpose, passion, and planning.Purpose: A strong sense of purpose can motivate people to give more. Research from Women Doing Well revealed that women who score high on purpose tend to donate around 14% of their income, compared to 9% for those with lower purpose scores.Passion: Passion for a cause often stems from personal experiences of pain or suffering. This deeply held belief leads people to make sacrificial giving decisions. When people align their hearts with God's, they are inspired to give courageously and with conviction, connecting their generosity to meaningful experiences.Planning: Effective financial planning is essential for generosity, especially for women who aspire to give more but may lack the structure to manage their finances for greater impact. Financial planning and passion must work hand-in-hand to create a lasting legacy of giving.Building a Generous Legacy: Preparing for Wealth ResponsibilityWith the responsibility of managing inherited wealth, women must be equipped with spiritual foundations and financial wisdom. Three main influences support women's generosity:Understanding that God owns it all.Personal spiritual disciplines like Bible study and prayer.Receiving teaching on stewardship. When women embrace these principles, they can approach wealth with a mindset of stewardship rather than ownership, seeing it as a resource to bless others.Women and Collaborative GivingWomen often approach giving differently than men, preferring collaboration and community. Studies from the National Christian Foundation show that women are twice as likely to participate in collaborative giving, pooling resources with others to maximize their impact. Women seek transformational experiences rather than merely transactional ones, often using giving as a means to disciple their families and build stronger connections within their communities. For women looking to embrace generosity and connect with like-minded individuals, we recommend organizations such as Women Doing Well, Generous Giving, and the National Christian Foundation (NCF). These groups offer opportunities for women to strategize, collaborate, and grow in their giving journey.Embracing Generosity as a Lasting LegacyAs the wealth transfer unfolds, the unique generosity of women presents an unparalleled chance to impact future generations. For those who steward this opportunity with purpose, passion, and a solid plan, the legacy of giving can become not only a financial blessing but a tool for discipleship and transformation.Connecting with organizations and communities that support women's giving can help women maximize this historic moment and courageously and convictionally live out the principles of generosity. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I'm 75, and my husband is 78. If he passes away, I'll lose about $4,000 per month in income. I have $2,800 from teacher retirement, $662 in social security, and $2,000 from a 403(b). I've saved $80,000 and can save an extra $4,000 monthly. I'm concerned about managing the $4,000 income drop and what to do with the $80,000 I've saved. My wife and I own two homes—one is a rental property I moved out of in 2022. We're trying to determine the best time to sell both properties and how to maximize the capital gains exclusion, especially since we both had primary residences prior to getting married in 2022.Resources Mentioned:Generous GivingNational Christian Foundation (NCF)Women Doing WellLook At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) or Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000. A Word From The Lord Our Ministry for Delivering the Lord's Word A Word From The Lord (AWFTL) is Dr. Foley Beach's personal volunteer media teaching ministry. AWFTL has distributed Biblical teachings, from the Lord's Word, for more than twenty years. AWFTL's ministry message is in a Gospel context rooted in Biblical Christianity without an Anglican emphasis. Our ministry objective and focus is to fulfill Jesus' Great Commission to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations . . .” (Matthew 28:19). To this end, we use several content distribution mediums including radio, podcast, audio and video. We invite you to read on for more information about our ministry, but I want to encourage you to contribute by clicking HERE to donate now. You are making a secure donation through our partner the National Christian Foundation -- NCF (or you can mail checks using the information at the end of this overview). Your prayers and financial support keep our ministry in fulfilling Jesus' Great Commission. AWFTL is staffed by a volunteer Executive Director and a volunteer Treasurer. The other staff members are part-time employees. Additionally, AWFTL obtains economic and intellectual leverage through a long-standing cadre of partners (e.g., iHeart Media, Microsoft, PodBean, Salem Media). Our distribution platforms are grouped into broadcast, email, and podcast. Across all platforms, AWFTL makes contacts with sinners by communicating the Lord's Word through partners, on behalf of AWFTL, using AWFTL's media messages (i.e. Dr. Beach's sermons or a One-Minute Messages) directed to the broadcaster's/distributor's targeted markets – our contacts. From the perspective of our distribution partners, AWFTL is considered as an advertiser providing a thirty-minute sermon or a one-minute spot targeted through demographic and behavioral segmentation, using traditional terrestrial radio and targeted direct digital audio. Emails of the Daily Devotional are provided, on a free subscription basis through MailChimp, to over 2,500 recipients daily. Additionally, 2,500 listeners receive full sermon emails on Sunday from Dr. Beach. Podcasts are published daily using the Daily Devotional, and podcasts provide full sermons on Sunday. We use PodBean as our podcast publisher to gain access to eight publishing platforms (e.g., Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podbean, Google).   AWFTL's premise, through all its distribution platforms and channels, is that the volume of contacts matters to His Kingdom in fulfilling His Great Commission. Therefore, AWFTL depends on Romans 10:17 in that each contact with the Lord's Gospel Word can begin or continue their personal “faith journey” because “faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”.   Our Results AWFTL is achieving its mission to share the unchanging Word of God with both believers and nonbelievers. Across all our channels (e.g., radio, podcasting, email, Internet), we now average more than 15 million annual contacts in more than 70 countries at an efficient and effective cost of $0.008/contact. Consider that, every day, our One-Minute Message has the potential of contacting 40,000+ people -- Absolutely amazing!   Dr. Beach traveled globally as Archbishop and Chairman of GAFCON (i.e. Global Anglicans representing more than70 Million members), and he met people from all walks of life who often sought him out to tell him how much our Daily Devotionals meant in their lives. For example, one American has developed and leads a global small Zoom group in which one person is assigned to coordinate Zoom discussions each day of a week. They use the Daily Devotional audio and its “Scripture References” as the base for their joint discussions and prayer time with the Lord. This Zoom group has grown to more than thirty participants, from several countries across the globe, with daily time zone scheduling being a challenge!   Our Opportunities to Address the “Gospel Gap” About two years ago Archbishop Beach delivered a sermon in Nigeria to the GAFCON Primate leadership addressing the “Gospel Gap” (i.e. people who have never heard the Gospel, have heard the Gospel but are indifferent to its message, or have heard the Gospel and hate God's message and those delivering His message). Most in the Gospel Gap resist exposure to the Gospel by avoiding church attendance and/or hearing traditional faith-based audio/video media. The Gospel Gap constitutes about 38% of US adults today, and the Gap is growing.   AWFTL conducted research to identify those who occupy the Gospel Gap and why. Ultimately, we developed five “Life Story” sentences which capture the reason for which people became and/or remain Gap occupants – for example: “I am alone and so confused with no trustable sources for love or the truth and no objects for my love; and the government and churches don't help.”. We believe that AWFTL has a somewhat unique opportunity to leverage our infrastructure, capabilities, and Dr. Beach's more than fifteen years of weekly sermons to extract targeted One-Minute Messages, using AI, to address the Life Stories. To this end, these derived messages, from existing content, can be delivered directly into the Gospel Gap using evolving targeted direct digital audio platforms.   Dr. Beach's sermons resonate with the Gospel Gap occupants and their Life Stories. To test our thesis in 2022, we partnered with iHeart Media to target Atlanta demographic segments in the Gospel Gap. During 2022, iHeart Media streamed 6,600+ One-Minute Messages every day for 12 months. Incredibly, 97.4% of the recipients listened to the entire message. iHeart Media told us that a “listening rate” of about 86% would be considered successful in secular targeted digital advertising. Additional levels of initial listener engagement will be provided through AI Natural Language Processing (NLP) Q&A discussions to extend their Gospel message understanding.   Please Support A Word From The Lord, Inc. AWFTL is supported by the prayers and contributions of its friends, and AWFTL does not receive financial support from churches or denominations.   We need your support for both today's successful baseline ministry and, hopefully, to pursue opportunities for directly addressing the Gospel Gap. (NOTE: Instructions for donations to A Word From The Lord (AWFTL) via check are below. For all contributions, we are a 501 [c][3] charity for your tax purposes.) MESSAGE SUMMARY:  Word From The Lord ministry (AWFTL) strives to, effectively and efficiently, deliver the Lord's Word, through Gospel-focused messages, delivered to large numbers of people for whom neither the Gospel nor Jesus play a significant role in their lives. Today, this Gospel message is needed more than ever because America is rapidly repositioning its environment and culture away from America's founding principles and the Gospel's principles of Love and Trust. This repositioning is being driven by the change in roles and focus of America's key institutions (e.g., family, churches, judicial, media, government, education, military). The negative consequences of this institutional repositioning are created and promulgated by a “Gospel MINUTE Gap”. The “Gospel Gap” occurs when the prime thesis of Jesus' Gospel's “Great Commandment”, “Love thy neighbor as thyself”, has either been lost or never really considered by vast numbers and segments of Americans. The “Gospel Gap” is further exacerbated by the institutional failure of churches and ministries to focus on fulfillment of Jesus' “Great Commission” – “Go and make disciples”. It is this “Gospel Gap” that presents AWFTL with both the opportunity and, indeed, the obligation to reach and begin the change of people who will close the “Gospel Gap”. The vast majority of people in the “Gospel Gap” will never attend a Church without being “preconditioned” through an encounter with the Holy Spirit (e.g., hearing the Lord's Word directly targeted media) because “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”. (Romans 10:17).; and, in their current state, they see church and Christianity offering them nothing of value for their life. AWFTL:  A Word From The Lord (AWFTL) is driven by the Holy Spirit and God's will. We need your continuing prayers and financial support to provide increasing opportunities for people to have “contacts” with God's Word. We hope that you will continue help AWFTL to “be a part of fulfilling Jesus' ‘Great Commission'” and, therefore, being a participant in addressing the “Gospel Gap”! TODAY'S PRAYER: Father, I confess that when difficulties and trials come into my life, large or small, I mostly grumble and complain. I realize the trials James talks about are not necessarily “walls,” but they are difficult to bear, nonetheless. Fill me with such a vision of a transformed life, O God, that I might actually consider it “pure joy” when you bring trials my way. I believe, Lord. Help my unbelief. In Jesus' name, amen.     Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 94). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Hatred. Rather, I will abide in the Lord's Love. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). Giving Appreciated Stocks

Stock markets have seen record highs in the past couple of months. Is it a good time to take profits?Well, it certainly can be a good time to take profits if you've seen your investments go through the roof recently. And today, I want to tell you about a way to realize those gains for God's Kingdom. Why Donate Appreciated Stocks? With recent historic highs in the markets, now is an excellent time to consider donating appreciated stocks to your church or other ministries. Donating stock instead of cash can significantly benefit both the donor and recipient, primarily due to its tax advantages. The Benefits of Donating StocksDonating appreciated stocks to a ministry typically gets a higher tax deduction and avoids capital gains taxes. This means you can give more than you might if you donate cash. Here's why:Tax Deductible: The total value of the stock is deductible.Avoid Capital Gains Taxes: There is no need to pay taxes on the appreciated value. If the stock value has appreciated, donating it directly to a church or charity is usually the best option. However, if the stock has lost value, it's better to sell it, take the deductible loss, and then donate the cash proceeds.Understanding the Tax BenefitsThe tax benefits of donating stocks depend on the type of organization you're giving to and your adjusted gross income. Donating appreciated stocks allows you to use their fair market value as an itemized deduction if you've held the stock for over a year.Let's say you bought 50 shares of Mock Industries at $20 each, totaling $1,000. Those shares are worth $40 each, making your investment worth $2,000. If you sell the shares and donate the after-tax proceeds, you'd have to pay 20% capital gains taxes on the $1,000 profit, leaving you with $1,800 to donate. However, donating the stock directly means the church receives $2,000, which you can deduct from your taxes. Some ministries may not be set up to accept stock donations and might ask you to sell the stock first. This is less efficient due to the capital gains taxes involved.Using Third-Party OrganizationsOrganizations like the National Christian Foundation (NCF) can handle stock donations for you. By setting up a donor-advised fund or a Giving Fund, you can donate cash, stocks, or other assets, which NCF will liquidate and distribute to your chosen ministries. This method also offers flexibility in managing your taxes. One significant advantage of using a Giving Fund at NCF is the ability to "bundle" your deductions. For instance, if you typically tithe $12,000 annually, you're still below the standard deduction of $14,600 for single taxpayers or $29,200 for married taxpayers filing jointly. However, if you donate $36,000 worth of stock into your Giving Fund, you can take the full deduction in one year, which can exceed the standard deduction, then spread out your actual donations over the following years.Donating appreciated stocks is a powerful way to increase your giving while reaping significant tax benefits. By leveraging tools like donor-advised funds from organizations like the National Christian Foundation, you can maximize your impact on God's Kingdom while minimizing your tax burden. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:Is there a statute of limitations for a collection agency to collect credit card debt? What is the best way to move multiple 401(k)'s from past employers to one account? About $750,000 was invested with my investment manager across a few investments. I'm being charged 1% in fees, which I understand is standard, but another company mentioned most of my investments are in just 6 ETFs, so there is little active management involved, and I should be charged closer to 0.8%. Given the passive nature of the strategy, I would like a second opinion on if 1% seems too high. I also have about $50,000 left on my mortgage with a rate of 2.75%, and I can pay it off this year. I'm figuring out whether I should pay it off early.Resources Mentioned:National Christian Foundation (NCF)Consumer Financial Protection BureauRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) or Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000. July 2024 Dear A Word From The Lord Ministry Friend, Supporting Our Ministry for Today and the Future Your continued support of A Word From The Lord ministry, through your prayers and financial contributions, is critical in these times. In my video, I mentioned the comments of people for whom our Devotionals and broadcasts today mean so much – I call this our “baseline ministry”. Below, I present some statistics that backup these written and in-person support testimonials. Also, my video mentions the “Gospel Gap”, which I define below. Most in the Gospel Gap resist going to church and encountering the Lord's Word, even through traditional audio and video faith-based media. However we have a somewhat unique opportunity to leverage our infrastructure, capabilities, and my fifteen years of weekly sermons to extract targeted One-Minute Messages that seem to resonate with the Gospel Gap. I invite you to read on for more information, but I want to encourage you to contribute by clicking HERE to donate now. You are making a secure donation through our partner the National Christian Foundation -- NCF (or you can mail checks using the information at the end of my letter). Your prayers and financial support keep our baseline ministry in fulfilling Jesus' Great Commission to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19) considering that “faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17). Additionally, your contribution now permits us to continue defining how A Word From The Lord can participate in addressing the Gospel Gap. Our Baseline Ministry Performance Today In my global travels, people from all walks often seek me out to tell me how much our Devotionals mean in their lives. For example, one American has developed and leads a global small Zoom group, with one person assigned for each day of the week. They use the Devotional audio and Scripture References as the base for their joint discussions and prayer time with the Lord. This Zoom group has grown to include participants from several states and countries across the globe, with daily time zone scheduling being a challenge! Some statistics provide you with a snapshot of our baseline ministry's performance. Since we began podcasting in April 2018, we have had more than 800,000 intentional downloads of our devotional podcasts (e.g., Spotify, Apple Podcasts, daily emails). Podbean, our podcast publisher, tells us that this download volume places us in the top 10% of  all US podcasters. Additionally, our radio broadcasting locations and time slots provide opportunities more than 20 million annual contacts with the God's Word. Our total annual costs, for all our development, production, podcasting, and broadcasting, are less than $0.004 per contact. With this efficiency ($0.004!), we remain faithful stewards of your support. Our Opportunities to Address the “Gospel Gap” While our baseline media ministry needs your continuing support, its content and infrastructure have permitted us to identify the components of the “Gospel Gap” (i.e. people that either have never heard the Gospel, have heard the Gospel but are indifferent to its message, or have heard the Gospel and hate God's message and those who deliver His message). The Gospel Gap constitutes about 35% of US adults today, and it is growing. Our baseline ministry capabilities provide an opportunity to address significant segments of the Gospel Gap by using our existing content delivered directly to the Gospel Gap using media's new and rapidly evolving digital targeting technology. Today, we are at a crossroads in our dissemination of the Lord's Word to those in Gospel Gap. As a monthly test during 2022, we targeted some Atlanta demographic segments in the Gospel Gap.  Every month, we used the incredible digital targeting capabilities of our partner iHeart Media to stream 202,000 One-Minute Messages some segments of the Atlanta Gospel Gap. Incredibly, 97.4% of the recipients listened to the entire message -- 97.4%! iHeart media told us that a “listening rate” of about 86% would be considered successful even in secular targeted digital advertising! However, our baseline operating funding did not permit continuing or expanding this significantly successful test, which cost $1,600/month, into 2023. We have developed plans which would permit us to roll out our approach to Gospel Gap targeting across the US; but these plans would require a significant increase in committed support. Also, we cannot let these opportunities to expand the ministry take our eyes off the performance of our baseline ministry. Contributing to Our Ministry We need your support for both today's successful baseline ministry and, hopefully, to pursue opportunities for directly addressing the Gospel Gap. Will you help? Now is the time to do it! Please make your secure monthly recurring donation, for one year, through our partner, the National Christian Foundation (NCF). You can contribute by clicking HERE – just follow NCF's instructions after clicking. Also, you can visit our Website at www.awordfromthelord.org for more information about our ministry; and you can contribute using the Website by clicking “DONATE” on the Website. If you do not wish to contribute online through NCF, you may support us by check and mailing A Word From The Lord, P. O. Box 636 Monroe, GA. 30655. The Bible clearly says that Christians are to give…but is it always as clear about where we should give?We all have to decide where we will give from our limited resources. So, a good question to ask is, “Does God care where we give?” I'll talk about that today with David Wills.David Wills is President of The National Christian Foundation (NCF). He is also the co-author of Investing in God's Business (The “How To” of Smart Christian Giving) and numerous articles and lectures nationwide.  A New Perspective on GivingA recent article titled “Does God Care Where We Give?” appeared on the NCF website and challenges a common misconception: that our personal passions should solely drive our giving. Instead, we should place God at the center of our giving decisions.Determining God's Will in GivingWhile we often give to areas we care about, it's crucial to consider what God thinks. How do we determine this? God cares about each of us and allows us to steward financial resources for His glory and our good. By obeying God and reflecting His love, we gain supreme motivation, and our giving can glorify God.Biblical Guidance on Where to GiveGod's Word offers guidance on where to give. Acts 1:8 provides a model with three geographic areas: Jerusalem (local), Judea and Samaria (national and regional), and the ends of the earth (international). This model challenges us to think strategically about our giving on these levels.Focusing on Eternal InvestmentsTwo things will last forever: God's Word and people. Therefore, supporting the translation, distribution, teaching, and preaching of Scripture and aiding those spreading the gospel aligns with God's priorities. 3 John 5-8 underscores the importance of supporting workers who spread the good news of Jesus Christ.Specific Groups to SupportThe Bible also identifies specific groups we should care for: the poor and oppressed, orphans, widows, the hungry, thirsty, strangers, the naked, the sick, prisoners, refugees, and victims of calamity. These groups repeatedly surface as recipients of giving in the Bible, indicating God's special concern for them.Laying Up Treasures in HeavenWhile these categories don't exhaust all giving possibilities, they guide us to support what God cares about locally, nationally, and internationally while leaving room for creative freedom in our giving. As Jesus said in Matthew 6:21, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” By focusing our giving on what aligns with God's heart, we can experience greater joy and fulfillment. For more details, be sure to check out David's article, “Does God Care Where We Give?”On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I recently learned that I will soon receive an inheritance of $200,000. In this special 100th episode, the shoe is on the other foot as Kealan and Cody are interviewed by Todd Harper, co-founder of Generous Giving, and David Wills, President Emeritus of the National Christian Foundation (NCF). Together, Kealan and Cody share about their family and faith backgrounds, how they got started on their journeys of generosity, and some of the amazing things they've learned along the way.   The interviews conducted over the last 99 episodes have been life-changing for the Hobelmann brothers in many ways by providing opportunities for “spiritual templating,” implementing what they've learned from others into their own generosity strategies, and by facilitating connection between like-minded Believers.    Major topics include: What life looks like now for Cody and Kealan The inspiration for the Finish Line Pledge How setting Financial Finish Lines has changed both of their lives  The evolution of the Finish Line Podcast Making the Finish Line Pledge relational Most memorable podcast moments The many ways they have seen God work through the podcast   QUOTES TO REMEMBER Cody: It kinda felt like I was walking up a staircase that I could not see the end of. It just continued up into the clouds. But when I set a financial finish line, suddenly I could see the top of the staircase, and I realized I was most of the way up it in terms of the course of my career.   Kealan: I appreciate so much more now the true breadth and diversity of expressions of generosity.    Cody: We realized that God's up to something that we didn't even notice. We had no idea. It really humbled me and helped me to understand that even though it's a lot to ask of our guests and our wives to carve out this time once a week, once every other week, and do the editing and all that kind of stuff. It is such an honor to be able to do this and we hope to be able to do this for a very long time.   Kealan: At this point, I don't ever say for myself or for anybody else, “this is how generosity has to be expressed,” or “this way is how God intends it.” There is too much range of expression that God gives us for anybody to say “it has to be this way.”   Cody: I've learned that giving is a lot of fun and it's a relational thing. As a financial planner and as someone who was not giving or living generously, it seemed like a transactional thing. But I'm starting to understand that it's far more complex than that and far mor joy-creating for everyone involved.   Cody: I'm learning that generosity and giving are not the same thing. Giving is an expression of generosity, but when done in community as a relational thing, there's nothing better and it's become my favorite use of money.   Kealan: I just want constant stories and relationships to help me grow as a Believer and not just in generosity. We've grown in prayer and community and so many other areas that are all interrelated to generosity. Looking to leverage your real estate holdings and other assets for a greater good? This episode of the Real Estate Syndication Show dives deep into impactful charitable giving strategies with Eric Most from the National Christian Foundation (NCF).Here are 3 key takeaways to maximize your charitable contributions:Don't Just Donate Cash, Leverage Assets: Eric reveals a powerful truth: most of our wealth (around 90%) sits in assets, not cash. NCF specializes in helping you convert appreciated assets like stocks into impactful charitable donations. This allows you to deduct the full value without capital gains taxes, maximizing your giving power compared to using post-tax cash.Real Estate for Charitable Giving: Real estate can be a strategic tool for philanthropy. Eric explains how donating a portion of a property to NCF before a sale can lead to significant tax benefits while supporting your chosen causes. NCF can manage these assets, using the generated income for charitable purposes.Creative and Personalized Giving:  Eric's inspiring story showcases the power of creative giving.  He used NCF for his wedding registry, directing well wishes towards missions instead of receiving traditional gifts.  He also shares valuable insights on avoiding common mistakes in charitable giving, especially after selling a business or real estate.Remember, it's not just about financial gain, it's about making a difference.  Listen to the full episodes below to learn more about impactful giving strategies.https://lifebridgecapital.com/2024/02/01/how-can-i-make-a-bigger-impact-eric-most/https://lifebridgecapital.com/2024/02/01/how-to-be-faithful-steward/Ready to invest in real estate and make a positive impact? THE DANGERS OF LOVING MONEY AND THE CHRISTIAN RESPONSESome people view money as the source of life's greatest pleasures, equating it with security, success, freedom, and power. However, the Biblical perspective emphasizes trust in Jesus rather than in fleeting worldly possessions. THE PROBLEMS WITH LOVING MONEY:1 Timothy 6:10 warns about the love of money being the root of all kinds of evils, emphasizing the destruction and ruin it can bring.Loving money leads to a life-destroying path marked by temptation and harmful desires. It can cause us to stray from our faith, experiencing deep sorrow as a result.Money can become an idol, taking God's place as the highest priority in our lives. BIBLICAL WARNINGS AGAINST SERVING MONEY:Jesus taught in Matthew 6:24 that it's impossible to serve both God and money, highlighting the conflict between material wealth and spiritual devotion.Loving money is incompatible with serving God fully.Money, while neutral itself, can lead to sins like greed, fear, envy, and dishonesty when idolized. THE INSUFFICIENCY OF MONEY:Ecclesiastes 5:10 illustrates that money can never truly satisfy the human heart's desires, a void that only Jesus can fill. The pursuit of wealth for its own sake is ultimately unfulfilling. CHRISTIAN STRATEGY AGAINST THE TEMPTATION OF MONEY:1 Timothy 6:11-12 offers a way out for believers, urging them to flee from the love of money and pursue virtues like righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness.Followers of Christ are encouraged to fight the good fight of faith and cling to the hope of eternal life. CONCLUSION:While the world offers many temptations, including the allure of wealth, believers are called to prioritize their spiritual well-being over material gains, staying true to their commitment to God and the eternal life promised through faith in Jesus Christ. If we can help you restore your focus on Jesus in your finances, I hope you'll contact us at faithfi.com. ON TODAY'S PROGRAM, ROB ANSWERS LISTENER QUESTIONS:I'm interested in donor-advised funds for tax planning but concerned about supporting entities that don't align with my values. In the final segment of today's episode on the Real Estate Syndication Show, marking the culmination of our five-part series, we're honored to once again engage in an insightful conversation with Eric Most, an expert in strategic real estate investing and philanthropy. Our focus was on the often overlooked aspect of real estate investing: the exit strategy. Many investors find themselves trapped in a cycle of 1031 exchanges, with death being the unintended and grim final exit plan. Eric shed light on a more life-affirming and impactful alternative: gifting real estate assets to a donor-advised fund or a supporting organization like the National Christian Foundation (NCF). This approach not only allows investors to bypass the capital gains tax and depreciation recapture but also provides a fair market value deduction, all without the need to pass away to break the 1031 exchange cycle.Eric explained the tax benefits and differences between private foundations, donor-advised funds, and supporting organizations. He emphasized that while private foundations offer more control, they come with less tax efficiency compared to donor-advised funds and supporting organizations, which offer fair market value deductions and are more cost-effective and simpler to set up.Listeners interested in making a greater impact with their investments and philanthropic efforts were encouraged to explore the resources available at ncfgiving.com. Eric also invited listeners to connect with him directly through the NCF's Rocky Mountains page or on LinkedIn, and to tune into his Generosity Now podcast for more stories and examples of impactful generosity.Remember to like, subscribe, and share the Real Estate Syndication Show with friends who are eager to learn more about real estate investing and making a difference through their financial decisions.VISIT OUR WEBSITEhttps://lifebridgecapital.com/Here are ways you can work with us here at Life Bridge Capital:⚡️START INVESTING TODAY: If you think that real estate syndication may be right for you, contact us today to learn more about our current investment opportunities: https://lifebridgecapital.com/investwithlbc⚡️Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheRealEstateSyndicationShow

We delve deeper into how to maximize exits, whether it's an asset or a business sale, and how to steward resources more faithfully.Eric shares invaluable insights on how to leverage assets for generosity, emphasizing that most of our wealth is tied up in assets rather than cash. He introduces us to the concept that "friends don't let friends give cash," highlighting the potential of using non-cash assets for charitable giving. We discuss the services provided by the National Christian Foundation (NCF), which helps individuals use complex assets like real estate, business interests, and intellectual property for charitable purposes. Eric explains how NCF manages around $7 billion in such assets, creating tax efficiencies and allowing for more charitable giving. One example Eric provides is how real estate can be used as a charitable funding vehicle. By gifting a portion of a property to NCF, you can receive a fair market value deduction and avoid income taxes on the donated portion, while the proceeds can be directed to your charitable goals.Eric also offers guidance on considering debt levels when gifting assets and suggests that assets with less than 40% debt are typically the best candidates for donation. He encourages listeners to consult with their advisors and an NCF representative to identify the most impactful assets for giving. In closing, I remind listeners of the value of today's episode and encourage everyone to like, subscribe, and share the Real Estate Syndication Show with friends interested in making a difference through real estate.Remember, stewardship and impact go hand-in-hand in real estate syndication, and with the right approach, your assets can create a lasting legacy of generosity.VISIT OUR WEBSITEhttps://lifebridgecapital.com/Here are ways you can work with us here at Life Bridge Capital:⚡️START INVESTING TODAY: If you think that real estate syndication may be right for you, contact us today to learn more about our current investment opportunities: https://lifebridgecapital.com/investwithlbc⚡️Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheRealEstateSyndicationShow

November 2023                                                                                 Dear A Word From The Lord Ministry Friend, Supporting Our Ministry for Today and the Future Your continued support of A Word From The Lord ministry, through your prayers and financial contributions, is critical in these times. Also, you can visit our Website at www.awordfromthelord.org for more information about our ministry; and you can contribute using the Website by clicking “DONATE”. MESSAGE SUMMARY:                                                                                                                   December 2022   Dear A Word From The Lord Ministry Friend, I am asking for your help on behalf of Archbishop Foley Beach and A Word From The Lord (AWFTL) global media ministry. We are facing an uncertain financial future as we cope with the current environment. Like most churches and ministries, the concerns and fears surrounding the increasing economic uncertainty have raised our concerns about sustaining consistent financial contributions. Attached to this email is a short video from Dr. Beach. Due to these uncertainties, our ministry is asking for your prayerful consideration of a twelve-month recurring monthly donation of any amount. The predictability of your recurring donation will provide the financial stability needed at this moment of decision. This Gospel ministry is supported by the prayers and contributions of our friends like you, and we do not receive financial support from churches and denominations. AWFTL is Dr. Foley Beach's personal volunteer media teaching ministry which has distributed Biblical teachings from the Lord's Word for more than eighteen years. AWFTL's ministry message is Gospel-focused and Biblical Christianity, not just an Anglican perspective. AWFTL is achieving its mission to share the unchanging Word of God with both believers and nonbelievers. Across all our channels (e.g., radio, podcasting, email, Internet), we now average more than 3 million contacts each month with His Word at a cost of less than $0.002 per contact.  Our One-Minute Message has been particularly effective in reaching the unchurched while supporting believers with daily spiritual encouragement. Please make your secure recurring monthly recurring donation, for one year, through our partner's, the National Christian Foundation (NCF), secure Website by clicking HERE – just follow NCF's instructions after clicking. Also, you can visit our Website at www.awordfromthelord.org for more information about our ministry and then contribute on the Website by clicking “DONATE”.  If you do not wish to contribute online through NCF, you may donate by check by mailing your donation to A Word From The Lord, P. O. Box 636 Monroe, GA. 30655. We are a 501 [c][3] charity for your tax purposes. In the love and service of Jesus,   The Rev. Bill Arnold Executive Director. A Word From The Lord, Inc.  info@awftl.org   Dear Friends, Please prayerfully consider our unusual request for a one-year monthly commitment through your recurring donation, which will help us determine and plan for AWFTL's future with some level of confidence in these uncertain times. The LORD is faithful. Faithfully, +Foley

We Need Your Help, Today, in Closing America's “Gospel Gap” (SPECIAL: 1-MINUTE VIDEO) MESSAGE SUMMARY:  Word From The Lord ministry (AWFTL) strives to, effectively and efficiently, deliver the Lord's Word through Gospel-focused messages to large numbers of people whom neither the Gospel nor Jesus play a significant role in their lives. The negative consequences of this institutional repositioning are created and promulgated by a “Gospel Gap”. A Word From The Lord (AWFTL) is driven by the Holy Spirit and God's will. A Word From The Lord is a 501 [c][3] not-for-profit ministry; and you can contribute, directly, to AWFTL using the secure facilities of the National Christian Foundation (NCF) using the link below (DONATE TO AWFTL); or through the DONATE button on our Website (www.awftl.org ); or with a check to: A Word From The Lord; P.O. The Co-Founder and CEO of Impact Foundation, Jeff Johns, brings extensive experience and insight in business development and fundraising to the leadership team. Before launching Impact Foundation, Jeff spent 12 years at the National Christian Foundation (NCF), concentrating on network expansion. His affiliate team grew annual charitable contributions from $40 million to more than $850 million and raised more than $4 billion for Kingdom impact and positive change. Co-Founder and CIO/General Counsel Aimee Minnich serves as Chief Impact Officer and General Counsel of Impact Foundation. Before founding Impact Foundation, she served as President and General Counsel for the National Christian Foundation, Heartland, where she designed and implemented the foundation's Missional Investing Program to allow the investment of donor-advised funds in social impact companies.   Aimee and Jeff join me on The Wow Factor to discuss how each of their backgrounds gave them a front-row seat to hard work in business and the power of generosity, and why they both came to be entrepreneurial in nature. The pair share how they met and when and why they were drawn together to found Impact Foundation. We also dive into the power of prayer as a means to connect with each other, with God, and a way of finding a quiet moment to really find your purpose.   “Whether you have a lot of money or a little bit of money, greed is awful, and it ruins relationships, and it ruins our heart … but generosity is one of these tools that God uses to enliven us to bring us back to him, to bring us closer together.” - Aimee Minnich   “People need Jesus and a good job. It's not that complicated — and the good jobs part has to come through a business that's funded by like-minded people with capital that can advance their cause.” - Aimee Minnich   “Every company has an agenda, and that agenda is one that should align with your passions and your beliefs and the good you want to see done in the world.” - Jeff Johns    This Week on The Wow Factor: How Aimee got started with NCF Heartland after graduating as a lawyer What Jeff's travels taught him about how important it is to get aligned with your passion The importance of connecting authentically with people in your network How they got together to found Impact Foundation and why impact investing is so essential The practical process of starting a charitable foundation and some of the bumps along the road Why prayer inspires prayer and why that is so important as you grow through life and business The culture at Impact Foundation and why the team enjoys the practice of coming before the Lord, to worship Him, to be in fellowship with Him, to be quiet, and to ask for His help Whether Jeff and Aimee took the time when they were planning the foundation to decide how they would work through any disagreements that arose They dive into the mission and vision of impact Foundation   Jeff Johns' Words of Wisdom: Align with what you're passionate about, and you get so much more excited about being involved in helping other people and being generous with your time and wisdom.   Aimee Minnich's Words of Wisdom: If you want to take the next step into philanthropy, look around and do what's right in front of you. A Word From The Lord Ministry Continues to Serve the Lord by Providing Opportunities for Many People to Hear His Word MESSAGE SUMMARY: In today's video devotional, Archbishop Foley Beach our teacher and Chairman of the A Word From the Lord ministry, tells us that our “podcasting downloads” have now exceeded 250,000 since our podcasting started in 2018. Also, through all our platforms that communicate the Lord's Word (e.g., broadcasting, podcasting, email), we now provide more than 170,000 contacts with the Lord's Word each day. However, our Vision and Values are consistent over the eighteen years since the ministry's founding in 2003: We strive to be a part of fulfilling Jesus' “Great Commission” (Matthew 28:19): “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them . . .”; and we Follow Paul's vision in Romans 10:17 – “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”. We use media and technology (e.g., Radio, Internet, Apps, Social Media, Podcasting, TV), which God has given us, to provide A Word From The Lord to Believers (to strengthen their faith and discipleship) and to Non-Believers (to develop their faith). Our ministry message is Gospel-focused and Biblical Christianity, not just an Anglican perspective, and We pray that AWTL's message stirs our listeners' affection for Jesus and that it shapes and molds the listener to the image of the Son while opening their mind and heart to the Holy Spirit. Also, we hope our message will be supplemental and in no way replace the church that our listeners are plugged into or the pastor God has placed into their lives. A Word From The Lord (AWFTL) is driven by the Holy Spirit and God's will. We need your continuing prayers and financial support to provide increasing opportunities for people to have “contacts” with God's Word. We hope that you will continue to “be a part of fulfilling Jesus' ‘Great Commission'”. A Word From The Lord is a 501 [c][3] not-for-profit ministry; and you can contribute, directly, to AWFTL using the secure facilities of the National Christian Foundation (NCF) using the link below or through the DONATE button on our Website (www.awftl.org ).   TODAY'S PRAYER: This is another day, O Lord. I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, Lord, for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, help me to do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and give me the spirit of Jesus. Amen.  TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, I will proclaim Him. (Philippians 1:15f)). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Romans 10:17; Matthew 28:18-20. A WORD FROM THE LORD WEBSITE: www.AWFTL.org.
