Episode 240 - 2025 was a huge year for movies, TV shows, gaming and tech, and in this special year-end episode of Tailoring Talk Magazine, Roberto is joined by Jon and Alex to look back at the things that stood out the most. This isn't a definitive “best of” list. It's a personal, opinion-led conversation about the films we couldn't stop thinking about, the TV shows that hooked us, the games we spent far too many hours playing and the tech that genuinely changed how we work and relax. We discuss standout movies like F1, Superman and Weapons, TV series including Severance, Fallout, Andor and Dark Winds, gaming obsessions such as Arc Raiders, EA FC 26 and Outer Worlds 2, plus the everyday tech and gadgets that impressed (and disappointed) us most in 2025.Expect strong opinions, honest disagreements, plenty of tangents and a lot of laughs as we wrap up the year.If you enjoyed this episode, please follow the podcast, leave a rating or review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, and share it with someone who loves movies, tech or gaming as much as we do.In this episode we cover:Our favourite movies of 2025The TV shows that defined the yearGaming highlights and unexpected obsessionsTech that impressed us and tech that let us downWhy this is a personal “best of” rather than a definitive listmovies 2025, tv shows 2025, gaming podcast, tech podcast, year in review, best of 2025, pop culture podcast, movie discussion, gaming discussion, tech review podcast Hosted on Acast. Welcome to the DSTE Christmas Spectacular!! There's no Joe or Jono this week so Sam takes over hosting duties and is joined by JT and Ste to talk all things games, TV, and film + books this week. We have a Christmassy catch up before JT's new section Joe-Schmo Rage Baiting'! We also take a quick look at the new Street Fighter film trailer, the 2026 reboot directed by Kitao Sakurai and starring Noah Centineo as Ken and Andrew Koji as Ryu. Ste gives his obligatory World of Tanks update, the enduring armoured warfare MMO, and talks with JT about playing The Outer Worlds 2. This much-anticipated sci-fi RPG sequel from Obsidian Entertainment just launched this October, taking players to the new star system of Arcadia. JT played the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 game as we discuss the blatant rinse and repeat nature of COD (yet it's still fun) and the campaign (or lack of) vs. online gameplay. The pod has an in depth discussion around how games are priced and marketed around free game models with season pass/DLC. We then drop into Sam's Steam Deck Corner, where he's revisiting Trials Evolution, the 2012 physics-based racer from RedLynx. Next, we open Ste's Book Club to discuss Frank Herbert's 1965 sci-fi epic Dune and a Haruki Murakami marathon covering the melancholic Norwegian Wood (1987), the metaphysical Kafka on the Shore (2002), and the dystopian epic 1Q84 (2009). JT sits us down to tell us all about The Chair Company, the new HBO comedy-thriller from Tim Robinson about a man who uncovers a corporate conspiracy after his chair collapses during a presentation. We also test our Duolingo language skills by watching foreign TV shows: Schlag Den Star, the long-running German celebrity competition; Deutschland 83, the stylish 2015 Cold War spy thriller; and One Cut of the Dead, the ingenious 2017 Japanese meta-zombie film by Shin'ichirō Ueda. Sam covers The Beast In Me, the new Netflix psychological thriller starring Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys, and we chat about the massive Netflix vs. Paramount bids for Warner Bros. Discovery, as the streaming giants fight over the future of HBO and the DC Universe. The feature film this week that is unquestionable a Christmas Film - Jingle All The Way, the 1996 holiday classic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger on a desperate quest for a Turbo-Man action figure. Let's be honest: This whole Light of Motiram thing was shady from the get-go. A game that blatantly rips off Guerrilla's Horizon franchise, created by the publisher-and-developer combo that was later revealed to have unsuccessfully pitched Sony a Horizon spin-off beforehand? They call that 'dead to rights.' And now it's official, because Sony's lawsuit against Tencent over this facsimile has been dropped with prejudice, and the game has been delisted from Steam. That's a win for PlayStation, and an even bigger win for creativity in the AAA space. We discuss. Plus: Sucker Punch co-founder, long-time producer, and studio lead Brian Fleming is officially retiring from the team after 28 years, Bungie's Marathon is slated to come to PS5 in March, Hollow Knight: Silksong is getting a free nautical expansion in '26, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Should we expect devs to lean more deeply into attractive characters? Do we think "made using AI" warnings will appear on games at some point in the near future? Who's to blame for Highguard's tepid response at The Game Awards? Is it strange if a wheelchair-bound listener wants to proudly wear a Stand Down shirt? In this birthday episode of Lore Watch, Joe gave Matt a gift, and let Matt talk about whatever called to him -- and that was the lore of The Outer Worlds. They discussed everyone's favorite Gilded Age throwback with minimal spoilers, talking about how the world itself is setup and constructed in this alternate version of earth. In this version of history, the robber baron tycoons who brought you public works like Carnegie Hall and Rockefeller Center so they wouldn't be guillotined felt as though they wouldn't have to do such a thing -- McKinley wasn't shot by an anarchist, and thus his Vice President Teddy Roosevelt, who was known for rooting out corruption in the NYPD, just stayed Vice President. As such, inequality remained rampant and worsened, while that Gilded Age aesthetic continued to reign supreme.Led by Matt, they discuss how that has affected the world of The Outer Worlds, from the job market to the cuisine. They run down some of the more significant characters and their roles within that world. And of course, there are diversions galore, from Futurama to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Though, we're thinking the oompa loompas probably know a thing or two about working a crummy job at unfair wages. If you enjoy the show, please support us on Patreon, where you can get these episodes early and ad-free! Brandon Adler is an American game director and producer whose career has been defined by his work on some of Obsidian Entertainment's most acclaimed role-playing games. After serving in Iraq with the U.S. Air Force, my guest studied Game Art & Design at The Art Institute of California. He joined Obsidian as a tester for Neverwinter Nights 2 before working his way up through various disciplines on games such as South Park: The Stick of Truth, Fallout: New Vegas, and Pillars of Eternity. Known for his meticulous attention to world-building and player choice, he has helped uphold Obsidian's reputation for crafting richly written, deeply reactive RPGs. And now, as game director on The Outer Worlds 2, he's leading the studio's next ambitious chapter in interstellar satire and storytelling.Become a My Perfect Console supporter and receive a range of benefits at www.patreon.com/myperfectconsoleTake the Acast listener survey to help shape the show: My Perfect Console with Simon Parkin Survey 2025 Hosted on Acast. I'm very excited to host Alicen Grey, who will give us the honest and liberating Gnosis with her new book, Synchronicities: The Signs All Point To You. We'll dive into the true nature of synchronicity, moments of illumination when the veil of Time dissolves and the timeless reality of the Inner World is revealed in the Outer World. You'll learn why commonly held beliefs—that these events are external messages, guides, or signs pointing you toward a course of action—are misconceptions that can lead to confusion and devastating consequences. Alicen provides an urgent call to embrace radical self-responsibility, using these powerful occurrences as a feedback system to diagnose your internal state and understand that all signs ultimately point back to you. This week Jared brings over three different bottles from the Redwood Empire distillery. We sample them throughout the show and give our thoughts in each one. Jared has played a lot of Outer Worlds and is really happy about the way the sequel shaped up. Nick has been playing the Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster and is loving the job system, even though the graphics are still looking a little dated. Additionally, Jared is playing Pokemon Legends: Z-A and is pretty disappointed in it. Discord

Xbox's big bet for bringing PCs to the living room has officially been undercut. This week, Valve announced three (!) different pieces of hardware. First, there is the Steam Machine, which serves as the strongest competitor to consoles. While still very much a PC, the Steam Machine packs a lot of punch for a small device and could be a force if priced well. Second, a brand new VR headset in the Steam Frame. Despite Meta having massive first-party support, Valve has decided to challenge a space that many of us thought was finished growing. Third, and finally, is a Steam Controller. It's horrendous looking and makes the Duke look ergonomic. How does Valve's aggressive hardware plans disrupt Xbox and does any lingering appeal for the PC in the living room by Xbox remain? The Dukes unite and dive straight in. Following months of swirling rumors, Halo Combat Evolved has its remake. It's called Halo Campaign Evolved and you can play it next year on Xbox, PC, and yes, even PlayStation! It has everything from sprinting to aiming down sights, but more surprising is the new content found within. Cutscenes have been entirely reshot, new prequel missions are being added to the game, new weapons are getting thrown in there, and even the warthog saw an expansion to it. Cog and Gene had the opportunity to go hands-on with a demo of this remake and the takeaways are what you'd expect from a Halo Studios led project. Indeed, it's the familiar cocktail of optimism for what's in front of you and lingering skepticism from the thing you just got. The studio that created Fallout: New Vegas has had a busy year, delivering Avowed, the early access of Grounded 2, and now Outer Worlds 2. This latest release comes the closest to the team's legacy in the Fallout universe. But can it achieve those high highs without the beloved trappings of post-apocalyptic America? And would you believe it has strong feelings about capitalism? Get the full list of games (and other stuff) discussed at www.besties.fan. Want more episodes?
