Fallout is a media franchise of post-apocalyptic role-playing video games—and later action role-playing games—created by Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky at Interplay Entertainment. The series is set during the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd centuries, and its atomicpunk retrofuturistic setting and art work are influenced by the post-war culture of the 1950s United States, with its combination of hope for the promises of technology and the lurking fear of nuclear annihilation. A forerunner of Fallout is Wasteland, a 1988 game developed by Interplay Productions. Here we talked about vault lore and its disturbing background, also our thoughts on the game franchise as well. The story takes place 200 years after the doomsday, where the descendants of those who sought refuge in luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated wasteland. fWotD Episode 2534: Fallout (video game) Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of the featured Wikipedia article every day.The featured article for Friday, 12 April 2024 is Fallout (video game).Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game is a 1997 role-playing video game developed and published by Interplay Productions. In a mid-22nd century post-apocalyptic and retro-futuristic world, decades after a global nuclear war between the United States and China, Fallout's protagonist, the Vault Dweller, inhabits the underground nuclear shelter Vault 13. After customizing their character, the player must scour the surrounding wasteland for a computer chip that can fix the Vault's failed water supply system. They interact with other survivors, some of whom give them missions, and engage in turn-based combat where they battle until their action points are depleted.Tim Cain began working on Fallout in 1994. It began as a game engine based on Steve Jackson Games's tabletop role-playing game GURPS. Interplay dropped the license after Steve Jackson Games objected to Fallout's violence, and Cain and designer Christopher Taylor created a new character customization scheme, SPECIAL. Although Interplay initially gave the game little attention, the development ultimately cost $3 million and employed up to thirty people. Interplay considered Fallout the spiritual successor to its 1988 role-playing game Wasteland and drew artistic inspiration from 1950s literature and media emblematic of the Atomic Age as well as the films Mad Max and A Boy and His Dog. The quests were intentionally made morally ambiguous. After three and a half years of development, Fallout was released in North America in October 1997.Fallout received acclaim for its open-ended gameplay, character system, plot, and perceived original setting. Buon ascolto! Tim Cain, pastor at Kaleo Church in El Cajon, California, reminds us how easy it can be to fall down the slippery slope of envying those living "the good life" in the world around us. The psalmist in Psalm 73 starts off in that direction, wondering where is God when the wicked prosper and have lives of ease, while His people suffer. It's not until he enters God's sanctuary that he is reminded that the truly good life is wherever God is...and because of the gift of Jesus, God's presences is here with us today. Even in the midst of our suffering and sorrows we can truly life the good life as we wait expectantly for the glory that is to come.

Fallout is arguably the most lucrative IP that Xbox earned from its acquisition of Zenimax Media. Since the ink on that deal dried, the possibilities for that series seem endless. With brilliant Fallout minds underneath the Xbox umbrella such as Todd Howard, Brian Fargo, Feargus Urquhart, Tim Cain, and Leonard Boyarsky, it feels like we're primed for a special era in the franchise's lifecycle. While it sounds great, it looks like we're a ways out from any meaningful collaboration. A recent interview with Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart has resparked the famous "Fallout: New Vegas 2" conversation as there is a true hunger from within Obsidian to work on this franchise again. This dates back to 2013 with public pitches for a game by Obsidian, but now with so many answers available in-house; it feels inexcusable to not have something cooking for an objectively profitable series. We also get into the thick of things again with the CMA as well as Microsoft facing some layoffs. There are new details on Minecraft Legends that are beginning to shape up Xbox's early 2023 picture. Plus, we dive into the fiercely debated 30 FPS topic as well as the importance of the conversations surrounding pay for voicework in gaming. Learn more about your ad choices.
