Kendi el yazısı ile kayaya kazıyarak yazdığı yazılar arasında yer aldığı iddia edilen “Hür İnsan Üzerine Bir Şiir”, hâlen Isparta'nın Sütçüler ilçesine bağlı “Yazılı Kanyon” bölgesinde bulunan bir sunağın yanındaki kayada kabartma olarak yer alıyor. We continue our trip throughout Turkey. Listen about these 3 cool cities.
Alaçatının tatlı esintisi, tarihi yarımadanın kültürel dokusu, peri bacalarının eşsiz manzarası, gün batımının vazgeçilmezi Nemrut'un gölge oyunları bu istatistiklere can veriyor. Türkiye ekonomisinin can damarlarından birisi olan turizm sektörü, vücuda kan pompalayarak Türkiye'deki ekonomik hayata canlılık getirme misyonunu taşıyor.

In this Tablet podcast, assistant editor Ruth Gledhill talks to Dr Natalie Watson, theologian and editor, about the coming Tablet trip to Turkey, where classical civilisation can be found alongside the sites of the earliest Christian churches along with the locations of some of the earliest and most significant events of the early Church. We start with three nights in Istanbul, one of the world's greatest cities, visting sites such as the grand Byzantine basilica Aya Sofya, often called Hagia Sophia, and the Ottoman sultans' lavish Topkapı Palace. We take a guided stroll in the Grand Bazaar and have a traditional coffee tasting and ponder the spiritual adventure ahead, and enjoy the views from our Bosphorus cruise. We then travel through the countryside visiting the sites of the Seven Churches of Revelation. These churches were real, physical congregations when the Apostle John wrote this last book of the Bible around 95 AD. While in Patmos, John was seized by the Holy Spirit and received prophetic visions from Christ instructing him to: “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea” We will also visit the bright-white terraces of Pamukkale, the warm mineral water that flows through them being the basis for the ancient spa city of Hierapolis. Then, we finish with three nights in Cappadocia, a geological wonderland in the centre of Turkey. The history of early Christians in Anatolia comes alive at the Göreme Open-Air Museum and the other cave churches and underground cities scattered around the valley.
Who was Epictetus? Epictetus (/ˌɛpɪkˈtiːtəs/;[3] Greek: Ἐπίκτητος, Epíktētos; c. 50 – c. 135 AD) was a Greek Stoic Philosopher. He was born into slavery at Hierapolis, Phrygia (present-day Pamukkale, in western Turkey) and lived in Rome until his banishment, when he went to Nicopolis in northwestern Greece for the rest of his life. Epictetus taught that philosophy is a way of life and not simply a theoretical discipline. To Epictetus, all external events are beyond our control; we should accept whatever happens calmly and dispassionately. However, individuals are responsible for their own actions, which they can examine and control through rigorous self-discipline. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/karatjuicepod/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/karatjuicepod/support

"To accuse others of one's own misfortune is a sign of want of education, To accuse oneself shows that the education has begun, To accuse neither oneself nor others shows that one's education is complete." - Epictetus LIFE CHANGING Quotes - STOICISM "Part of what makes Stoicism fascinating to study is that three of its most well-known practitioners ranged widely in terms of where they stood in society. Think of Marcus Aurelius, the emperor of the Roman Empire holding one of the most powerful positions in the world. Think of Seneca, who was an adviser to an emperor, renowned playwright and one of the richest people in the Roman Empire. And then there is Epictetus, on the complete opposite, who was born as a slave. That's what makes Stoicism so powerful: it can provide timeless principles to help us in both good and bad fortune, no matter our station our life.Epictetus was born nearly 2,000 years ago in Hierapolis (present-day Pamukkale in Turkey) as a slave in a wealthy household. Epaphroditus, his owner, gave him the permission to pursue liberal studies and it is how Epictetus discovered philosophy through the Stoic Musonius Rufus who became his teacher and mentor. Later, Epictetus obtained his freedom shortly after emperor Nero's death and started teaching philosophy in Rome for nearly 25 years. This lasted until emperor Domitian famously banished all philosophers in Rome. Epictetus fled to Nicopolis in Greece where he founded a philosophy school and taught there until his death..."Read more...https://dailystoic.com/epictetus/~Subscribe to the All Around Growth Podcast channel for show updates ONLY: https://t.me/allaroundgrowthpodcast If you want to participate in a group chat with fellow audience members on a similar path, consider joining the community on our Telegram chat group: t.me/allaroundgrowth ~Apple Podcasts listeners...here's a short, one-minute video just for you!* How To Leave a Rating & Review in Apple Podcast App~All listeners are encouraged to give the show a rating on your podcast player of choice. Epictetus (c. AD 55 – 135) was a Greek speaking Stoic philosopher. He was born a slave at Hierapolis, Phrygia (present day Pamukkale, Turkey), and lived in Rome until his banishment, when he went to Nicopolis in north-western Greece for the rest of his life. His teachings were written down and published by his pupil Arrian in his Discourses. Epictetus taught that philosophy is a way of life and not just a theoretical discipline. To Epictetus, all external events are determined by fate, and are thus beyond our control; we should accept whatever happens calmly and dispassionately. However, individuals are responsible for their own actions, which they can examine and control through rigorous self-discipline.

Lucio Bubacco travels around Murano and frequently to Venice in his gondola, rowing a la valesanato power himself across the lagoon. A favorite pastime since childhood, journeying along the canals recharges his creativity and provides “vitamins” for his soul. Movement also defines his energetic flameworked sculpture, alive in terms of frozen action, but also anatomical perfection. Born on the Italian island of Murano in 1957, Bubacco has been flameworking glass since he was a boy, beginning with small animals and beads. A fascination with equine and human anatomy inspired him to push beyond the perceived technical limitations of his craft to combine the anatomic perfection of Greek sculpture with the Byzantine gothic architecture of Venice. “Seductive motifs such as metamorphosis and transformation echo themes from our mythological past when sexuality was spiritual, not political.” Bubacco’s large freestanding sculptures, worked hot and annealed during the process, are unique in lampworking. They are made from 104 COE Murano soda glass canes. The epitome of detailed elaboration and narrative content, his mini-installations can be seen in collections worldwide including Musee Atelier du Verre, Sars-Poteries, France; The Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, New York; Museo del Vidrio, Monterrey, Mexico; and Museo del Vetro, Murano, Italy. Though formerly represented by Habatat Galleries, Michigan, in 2002 Bubacco stopped his gallery relationships to devote himself full time to teaching, primarily at his Scuola Bubacco onMurano. In 2019, he will teach three courses in March, May, and at summer’s end.The artist will also exhibit new work at a Roman theater in Pamukkale, Turkey. New technically challenging, mythological chandelier commissions are underway. Recently the artist collaborated with Alessandro Cuccato (Vetroricerca Bolzano) on a bas-relief sculpture for a mega yacht that pays homage to Troy. To realize this work, Bubacco developed a hybrid technique combining flameworking with fusing. Last winter a skiing accident kept Bubacco from his studio, during which time he completed two books. Muranfeatures 170 original Bubacco watercolor paintings depicting the history of Muranese glass, and Lucio Bubacco: Eroticswith essays by Andrew Page, Klaus Weschenfelder, and Steffen John, was introduced at GAS Murano in May 2018. Also available is Lucio Bubacco, Eternal Temptation,a one-of-a-kind book that combines a minimalist layout with luxury materials and texts by Dan Klein and Cristina Gregorin.
The quote that gives name to the tile of this video is a powerful quote by Epictetus, a great stoic philosopher. As you probably know, I'm a HUGE fan of stoicism and stoic philosophy. The concepts it can teach us is beyond anything any modern philosopher was able to produce. Epictetus was a Greek Stoic philosopher. He was born a slave at Hierapolis, Phrygia (present day Pamukkale, Turkey) and lived in Rome until his banishment, when he went to Nicopolisin northwestern Greece for the rest of his life. His teachings were written down and published by his pupil Arrian in his Discourses and Enchiridion. In today's video, I'm going to discuss this powerful quote and tell you how you can start implementing this powerful concept in your day-to-day life. A Mesquita Águia Sofia e a Mesquita Azul... As mesquitas. “Here I Go Again On My Own”, dos Whitesnake.
This episode, we're heading down the Turkish Coast to Bodrum, formerly called Halicarnassus and home of the long-lost Mausoleum, symbol of should-have-been-forbidden love. We'll also check out the thermal springs at Pamukkale and eat swordfish kebabs!

Tunisie. Turquie. Egypte. Ethiopie. Maldives. Mali. Kenya. Impossible. Dangereux. Pourquoi ? A éviter.

Dr. Tülün Değirmenci resimli el yazmalarındaki I. Selim (1512-1520) imgesi üzerinden 17. yüzyıl Osmanlı şehirlilerinin tarih algısını inceliyor. Siyaset, popüler algı ve tarihyazımı arasındaki ilişkiyi gözler önüne sermekle kalmıyor, ikonografi, kitap üretimi ve okuma kültürü gibi Osmanlı entellektüel tarihinin önemli mevzularını da mercek altına alıyor. In spite of lively debate regarding how history is reconstructed today, historians have paid less attention to how past societies perceived their own past. In this episode, based on a seventeenth-century illustrated manuscript, Tülün Değirmenci explores how 17th century Ottoman city-dwellers perceived the controversial figure of Sultan Selim I (note: this episode is in Turkish).iTunesOsmanlı Sanat Tarihi, Resimli Kitaplar ve Okuma Kültürü üzerine eserler veren Yard.
