Y'all you know what that means? You have two more days to make money off of the cannabis industry this week. Just two more days. Let's make it great. Let's capitalize on it. This is Elliot lane, your host of cannabis daily here with Aaron Thomas. Thanks so much to Aaron Thomas for producing and Asli for making this happen. And Benzinga for the platform. We bring you your daily dose of cannabis news, stock insights and industry updates. If you will, in five minutes, we're gonna. For five minutes on the.today, let's see how we do, but we have not too many news items, but definitely some larger ones we need to touch on.Tilray they like to make news over there. But Tilray brands announces a proposed agreement for strategic Alliance with so cool. What does this mean for these two very large Canadian based operators? You say Hexo H E X on the NASDAQ will restructure their balance sheet, including the sale of their amended senior secured notes to Tilray brands.This. Improve hexoses flexibility and reinvigorate their path forward plan. We've been over the path forward playing on this podcast before, but just to give you a brief reminder of the path forward is basically a plan for 2022 on how they will utilize their capital structure on how they intend to divest certain non revenue driving assets among other things. What does this do for Hexo though? Most importantly, it releases the 80 million Canadian dollars in restricted cash to fund operations and strategic initiatives. Both companies will benefit. That's probably very important to this from this partnership, by as much as Canadian $50 million split equally between the two sides, K a O S capital will provide an additional Canadian $180 million.Three year equity, backstop, commitment to maintain heck sows, newfound, monetary happiness. Hexo I believe it's currently up around 5.8% until Ray is down 0.3, 4%, not everybody liked them spending the money they did, but with that being said obviously fantastic news for Hexo. If you're Hexo shareholder, you have to be breathing at least a small sigh of relief here.If you're Tilray, you're thinking this is interesting. Let's see where this goes. Does this make Hexo in M and a opportunity? I don't know. We'll see one day, but that being said for now, two major stocks joining together this morning, next step, taking it to the legislative front, a little bit of a disappointing note, but that being said.Again, not surprising. The Biden administration has expanded its employee conduct guidelines to potentially deny security clearance to individuals who have invested in companies that are involved in the marijuana business. This is according to an internal executive branch presentation shared with Politico. The direct quote is eligibility may be negatively impacted if an individual knowingly and directly invest in stocks or business ventures that specifically pertain to marijuana, growers and retailers. Decisions to willfully invest in such activity could reflect questionable judgment and I'm willingness to comply with laws, rules, and regulations. So one would hope that a more moderate and or liberal administration wouldn't say something like this, or that was the assumption when Biden was elected. That being said, Obviously Biden is playing this similarly to how the banks are, think of bank of America and and others that have reacted very negatively towards the cannabis industry.Over the last year, he's being very close to the federal guidelines for cannabis. So with that being said, Biden will be a friend of the industry when the industry Gets its first step of approval from the legislative branch, which will be SAFE deally in the next few months. We hope we'll see how that goes, but with that being said and disappointing update, but that, again, not really ultimately. All right next up on the list. We have canopy growth CGC on the NASDAQ lawsuit against GW pharma for patent infringement is tossed out by a court. This has to do with cannabis extraction techniques. Cannabis growth of course is another major Canadian and global player in the cannabis space. They also have a us footprint. They are well-known for their associations with Martha Stewart and bio steel and Patrick Holmes and several. GW pharma is the company that has the. CBD drug for epilepsy that is well-known internationally. With that being said, looks like a judge was not impressed by CGCS case.So that is now over per marijuana moment and a new poll, the majority of Wisconsin voters back marijuana legislation in the us that includes the majority of Republic. Wisconsin voters last but not least let's end with our good friends at high tide. H I T I acquiring crossroads cannabis, adding four brick and mortars in on Terrio. That brings them somewhere around 115. I believe with that being said, this is Elliot lane and cannabis daily. Debido a esas ideas reutilizadas, J.J. There's been a lot of back and forth as to what exactly fans can look forward to seeing in the infamous forthcoming Zack Snyder's Justice League miniseries, but Harry Lennix has cleared up one detail to Collider with the revelation he will indeed appear as the extraterrestrial superhero Martian Manhunter. Lennix confirmed that when he was first cast in the debut DC Extended Universe project, Man of Steel, as General Swanwick, he did not know he would continue the role past one film, let alone the character's real identity and that though he learned of the real plans with Justice League, he still didn't get a chance to read the script as "they were still being developed and they keep all of that under lock and key." Given his schedule conflicts with his role on NBC's The Blacklist, he never properly filmed his scenes as Manhunter, but once Warner Bros. greenlit the extra shooting for the new miniseries cut of the project, Lennix confirmed he has shot the necessary footage for the role. Zack Snyder's Justice League will reportedly cost around $70 million in order to properly finish the editing and visual effects of the director's original vision, as well as the additional photography. The original post-production crew is also expected to return along with the cast members to record additional dialogue for the cut. Fueled by the hero's restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Justice League sees Bruce Wayne enlist the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions. Justice League, which features a screenplay from Chris Terrio from a story by Snyder and Terrio, stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, with J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Released in November 2017, the film earned mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, praising the action and performances from Gadot and Miller while criticizing every other aspect of the film, namely the inconsistent tone that many fault Joss Whedon (The Avengers) for after taking over directorial duties from Snyder. With a large budget of $300 million and a break-even point of $750 million, the film is considered a box office bomb having grossed only $658 million.

Have you ever wondered if your contribution will make a difference? Sometimes we think we only have a small amount of time or a limited resource, and we wonder if that will that really make an impact. I am here to tell you that YES it will! I love the miracle when God feeds the 5000. The little boy gives his small lunch and God multiplies it. Friend, I believe he will do the same for you. This week on the podcast, I cannot wait to highlight A Way To Help, a non-profit organization that is making a difference by helping provide clean water to people without in Uganda. I cannot wait for you to hear Marla and Maureen share how God took their desire to help and expanded it beyond their wildest dreams. From bracelets to deep water wells, God loves to take our contributions and multiply them! My friend and I have had the privilege to help fund two water wells with A Way to Help and it has been a phenomenal experience. I cannot wait to show pictures this week of the priceless smiles of the kids and families in the two villages. In Max Lucado’s book, Outlive Your Life: You Were Made To Make A Difference, he says, “No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.” This book re-ignited in me a desire to make a difference. I am so excited that we will be giving away a copy of this book on the podcast this week. Kto jest odpowiedzialny za dziury w fabule - reżyserzy, którzy jednocześnie pisali scenariusze, czy producentka, która na to pozwoliła? In this episode, Mary and Denise discuss the production of Star Wars Episode IX, The Rise of Skywalker and why there are signs that many changes happened in it, especially in Colin Trevorrow's version, the leaked Artbook, and interviews with Chris Terrio and more cast and crew. We start by discussing Colin Trevorrow's treatment for Episode IX, what we can learn from it, what was carried to JJ and Terrio's movie, and what it means for the story and for the trilogy. We then discuss a recently leaked Artbook that was released in Korea, with some important information missing! By the way, since we recorded it, the artbook has been called back and is no longer for sale. We also take some hints from the leaks, which seem more and more reliable by now, and try to trace what happened to Episode IX and how Lucasfilm arrived at its final product. Finally, we look at some cast and crew interviews for more hints about the production of Episode IX. Dawson and Philip bring you their discussion and review of 'Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker', touted as the "End of the Skywalker Saga," from Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Studios, directed by JJ Abrams and co-written by Abrams and Chris Terrio. The brothers bring somewhat conflicting opinions about the film, having gone in with low expectations due to the Sequel Trilogy's seeming lack of vision from start. But depending who you ask, Abrams and Terrio were surprisingly successful in wrapping up the new trilogy--as well as the entire trilogy of Trilogies--in a satisfying way. Connect with us over social media to continue the conversation. Here we go! ///// > ///// Today’s movie is STAR WARS: EPISODE IX - THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, the final installment in the recently coined Skywalker Saga, directed by J.J. Abrams, and written for the screen in collaboration with Chris Terrio, based on a story by Derek Connolly, Colin Trevorrow, and Kathleen Kennedy, based on the characters and universe created by George Lucas. Following the events of THE LAST JEDI, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) discovers the path to the hidden Sith world of Exegol, where he also learns that Emporer Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) is still alive and wants Rey (Daisy Ridley) dead. Now the Resistance must face this new threat, before Palpatine conquers the entire galaxy. No spoilers. Before we start talking about today’s movie, I want to walk through the sordid history of the Star Wars film franchise, particular with the naming of this nine movie film series the Skywalker Saga. My first taste of Star Wars films was watching RETURN OF THE JEDI on television, having been far too young to have seen the films in theaters. I was absolutely entranced by the Ewoks and thought the lightsabers were pretty cool. I also knew that my peers had quite a few of the toys, which became a sort of status symbol amongst us. I think I was more into G.I. Joe and Transformers at the time, but I definitely dug Star Wars, and when it became available, I bought the trilogy on VHS for a lot more than I should have paid. I also read quite a few of the extended universe novels and comic books, which my friend had, including the incredible Timothy Zahn trilogy currently being reworked into the new canon. I started out knowing way less than my friends, and through a lot of reading, came to know more about that galaxy far, far away. I might have been too young for the original trilogy, but I was definitely old enough to know the hype was so real in 1999 when THE PHANTOM MENACE was finally coming to theaters, sixteen years after the last film. My friend group was mostly nerd, or at least nerd-friendly, so we got our tickets for the midnight showing, got all sorts of liquored up, then headed to see the film. And, as we all know by now, it didn’t live up to expectations. I don’t think it could have. The special effects were incredible, but the story lacked something important, and also included the overly-maligned Jar Jar Binks, who became the target for this hype backlash. By the time 2005’s REVENGE OF THE SITH had graced theaters, the fanbase had reached new levels of toxicity, and the films quietly disappeared as Lucasfilm went into production for THE CLONE WARS animated series. It wasn’t until my daughter started getting into Star Wars that our family went back to view the first two trilogies, which was well after Lucasfilm was sold to Disney for $4 billion. Subsequent viewings made the original trilogy seem a lot less good and the prequel trilogy to seem a lot better than it had been received. One Movie Spawn and I began working our way through THE CLONE WARS, along with a whole new generation of Star Wars enthusiasts finding more affinities with Ahsoka and Anakin. It also filled in a lot of the gaps between Episode II and Episode III, both in terms of plot and character development. So, when Disney announced they were bringing J.J. Abrams on board to reboot the franchise, I was stoked. THE RISE OF SKYWALKER feels like what happens when a franchise tries too hard to safely cater to its fans. Whatever criticisms there might be of the first two trilogies, George Lucas did provide a singular vision for the characters and the story, building a universe out of the surprise success of A NEW HOPE, with the constant support and co-leadership of Kathleen Kennedy. However, in the wake of Lucas’ retirement, and the backlash from a subset of franchise fans, that vision has slowly gotten muddled in the past few years between the continuing saga films and the one-offs set before the original trilogy, and in the case of ROGUE ONE, right before the original trilogy. We should expect a few bumps in the road trying to rewrite canon, rather than just starting over. Even the pre-reboot canon had more than one instance of contradictions requiring clever retcon, a sign that the universe was growing much too fast for its creators. All the toxic fans came out of the woodwork again, picking apart the plot of THE FORCE AWAKENS, then the absolutely bizarre fascination with tearing down Kelly Marie Tran’s portrayal of Rose Tico in THE LAST JEDI. With each bit of criticism, the franchise seems to be constantly overcorrecting. Critically speaking, the new films have been well-received when they take chances (THE FORCE AWAKENS, ROGUE ONE, THE LAST JEDI), and not as well received when corporate has come in to provide feedback and comments. SOLO had a major shake-up along the way, when Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were fired in favor of Ron Howard, with the result being muddled. And now, with THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, we see overcorrections all over the place, real or perceived. We have toxic fans to thank here again. It seemed like every bit of information about THE RISE OF SKYWALKER came with an avalanche of hot takes. I don’t mind speculation, especially with teaser information, but toxic fans have a way of turning speculation into fact, then forcing everyone to pick a side, and lambasting anyone who doesn’t choose their side. I still can’t believe folks thought there was a beef between Johnson and Abrams, and that they would use $200M movies to wage it, but it happened. The coverage in the wake of THE RISE OF SKYWALKER has already started with the “IS STAR WARS OVER?!” messaging, and frankly, I’m getting tired of it. So, to be safe, it looks like Lucasfilm brought in a team of writers, to try and make everyone happy, and not really succeeding anywhere in the process. The story appears to be a collaboration between Abrams, Terrio, Connolly, and Trevorrow, and it really shows in THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. Connolly and Trevorrow are no strangers to franchises, having successfully, in a matter of speaking, rebooted the Jurassic Park franchise with the current Jurassic World trilogy. THE RISE OF SKYWALKER contains a lot of iconic shots, similar to the Jurassic Park franchise. And those iconic moments look really great in the screen, but the connective tissue between those shots is, at best, a mixed bag. Everything is played pretty safe, and as such, doesn’t really surprise. The question is why? How can an iconic franchise fizzle out in such spectacular fashion? Well, first, it was an impossible task, told over too many years to be effective. Lucas’ career appears to have been one of fascination, moving between his two major franchises, Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Franchises, as we saw more than once last year, require consistency to stay viable, and having ten to sixteen year gaps between trilogies is ineffective to maintain momentum. I wonder how much better these stories may have been without the massive gaps. And I’ll just say here that “The Mandalorian” gives me a great deal of hope for the future of the franchise. The other major factor is the storytelling approach. The trilogies have acted as the backbone for the franchise, with the rest of the canon being built off that backbone. By contrast, the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is not just in consistency, kicking up to four films a year soon, but also in their crossover approach for building their backbone. All the character development we need for Marvel characters happens inside their individual films, so we can focus on the story almost exclusively in the crossover films. THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, having no other real development for its characters outside of the canon novels, ends up having to do character development, find the iconic shots, and close out a massive nine-film space opera story in one film. Much more story was needed before this film to make it effective on the screen for franchise fans. STAR WARS: EPISODE IX - THE RISE OF SKYWALKER is a lackluster ending to a nine-movie saga, which may either lead to some deep introspection for the franchise, or perhaps releases the franchise from the three trilogy burden initially envisioned by George Lucas. Struggling to do too much with the final film, Abrams & Terrio (along with Connolly, Trevorrow, and Kennedy) attempt to please everyone, and end up with mixed results. Where it lacks in story, however, it makes up for somewhat in Lucasfilm’s commitment to special effects and gripping action scenes, along with more than a few iconic shots set in the beauty of space. Hardcore Star Wars fans have already seen the film, possibly more than once, and will likely have mixed feelings. Everyone else, especially those without franchise expectations, will find a visually appealing film that is still ultimately entertaining at its core. And much like the prequel trilogies, I suspect this reboot trilogy may age better over time. Rotten Tomatoes: 55% Metacritic: 54 One Movie Punch: 6.5/10 STAR WARS: EPISODE IX - THE RISE OF SKYWALKER (2019) is rated PG-13 and is currently playing intheaters.

Tricia Barr, BJ Priester and Kay from FANgirl Blog discuss changes in directors on Episode IX, Star Wars animation and Leia: Princess of Alderaan by Claudia Gray. The Star Wars movie news keeps coming, and we delve into it on this month’s episode of Hyperspace Theories. We begin with one of the recent photos from the Untitled Han Solo movie shared on social media by director Ron Howard. Does the image and its caption – “Spicey?” – hint at the appearance of the long-notorious spice mines as well as the legendary Kessel Run in the film? The big developments since our last episode, though, involved Episode IX: Colin Trevorrow is no longer involved in the movie as either writer or director, and J.J. Abrams is returning to Star Wars to direct and co-write the second sequel to The Force Awakens. Tricia, B.J., and Kay discuss our reactions to and analysis of the news, including the official announcements from Lucasfilm as well as the reports in the Hollywood industry trades. While the removal of Trevorrow from the project is a positive change, the sources of the conflict that led to his departure were very much predictable at the time he was hired; the upheaval in the production process at this point, about four months prior to the intended start of principal photography, was preventable if a sounder hire had been made in the first instance. Fortunately, after the box office and fandom success of The Force Awakens Abrams had enough influence and credibility with the Disney brass to insist on pushing back Episode IX’s release date to December 2019, giving him at least six additional months to work on the script. Abrams has essentially the same amount of time to work on Episode IX’s screenplay as for The Force Awakens – but this time with considerably less work needed on the world-building and character arcs compared to kicking off the trilogy. Overall, though, we’re certainly far more optimistic about Episode IX with Abrams at the helm than we were a few weeks ago. We also share areas of concern with Abrams’ leadership of Episode IX. On The Force Awakens, Abrams often worked in seclusion at Bad Robot in Santa Monica, in contrast to Rian Johnson’s work in residence at Lucasfilm while writing and completing The Last Jedi. With the Story Group and other members of the creative brain trust at Lucasfilm having accomplished some great successes in interconnectivity and long-term payoffs over the course of stories released since 2015, it would be a shame if Abrams’ return also meant a recurrence of the lack of communication that led to key creative executives at Lucasfilm being unaware of major storytelling decisions made while finalizing The Force Awakens until the film’s release. Similarly, Abram’s co-writer on The Force Awakens was the esteemed Lawrence Kasdan; his writing partner on Episode IX is Chris Terrio, who won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for Argo but also wrote the screenplays for Batman v Superman and Justice League, which like Rogue One ended up undergoing substantial revision, if not re-envisioning, during reshoots. Finally, while Abrams is certainly a known quantity and trusted creator to Lucasfilm, it is disappointing to see yet again that two middle-aged white men have been handed the keys a Star Wars film – and this time, one that has to provide satisfying, empowering, and worthy conclusions to the Sequel Trilogy character arcs of Rey and Leia. For all the upheaval in the production processes on the Star Wars films over the last few years, though, lots of great Star Wars stories are being told outside the movies. In this month’s episode we discuss the second season of LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, the first eight Force of Destiny animated shorts, and the young-adult novel Leia, Princess of Alderaan by Claudia Gray. We have high praise for each of them, although as longtime Star Wars books fandom participants, each of us was particularly excited to finally see the kind of official young Leia book we’ve always thought the character deserved. As part of the Journey to The Last Jedi publishing program, Gray’s novel also contains some intriguing hints for Episode VIII, including some that are overt and others that left us wondering – and speculating. Some news woke us up on Tuesday morning: Star Wars: The Force Awakens filmmaker JJ Abrams had been hired to replace Collin Trevorrow on Star Wars Episode 9. Abrams was not someone we believed would return to the franchise as he had even said publicly that he was done making sequels, remakes, and reboots and wanted to move on to original films. In this EMERGENCY PODCAST, we discuss the latest news and our thoughts on JJ Abrams as the director of Episode 9. We also learned that Chris Terrio (the Academy Award-winning writer of Argo) will co-write the movie with JJ Abrams. We talk about that choice and what it means that Terrio was involved with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. We talk about the internal buzz from Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi and why Johnson isn't directing the last film in the trilogy. We discuss our concerns with JJ Abrams as a director and what we want and don't want from the final installment of this third Star Wars trilogy.
