During a press conference this past week, Trump press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about Donald Trump's post on Truth Social where he said that Canada could avoid the tariffs if they just became the 51st state of our country, and Leavitt appeared to confirm that this is Trump's stated goal. This actually goes against all of the other reasons why Trump has claimed to be putting tariffs in place because this administration can't seem to keep their story straight on any issue. Fox host Maria Bartiromo completely lost it during an interview with Republican Congressman Brandon Gill this past week, and she ended up demanding that Republicans in the House cut Medicaid. Bartiromo insisted that this was necessary while almost shouting that the Republican Representative, because, as Bartiromo claims, you have to have offsets to pay for the tax cuts Republicans want to enact. She would rather give herself a tax cut than let poor people go to the doctor.Donald Trump's commerce secretary Howard Lutnick wants everyone to know that the prices of certain products are absolutely going to go up because of Trump's policies - but he says that you'd better not call it inflation! In a tense moment during a segment on Fox News, Lutnick conceded the price increases while making his insane demand and all while raising his voice so that people know how serious he is. But there's a reason Lutnick doesn't want people to call it inflation - he wants us to shut up about it and pretend none of this is happening.Text and and let us know your thoughts on today's stories!Subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay up to date on all of Farron's content: https://www.youtube.com/FarronBalancedFollow Farron on social media! A few weeks ago, former President Donald Trump made the assertion, from the Presidential debate stage, that Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio were eating citizens' pets. This was his attempt to underscore the need for immigration reform by using debunked conspiracy theories to incite fear. He received this pet-eating information from "people" who he did not name and, though the story was revealed to be completely unfounded and false, his running mate J.D. Vance continued promulgating the rumor after the debate. Since that time, Springfield has experienced bomb threats and school closures due to racist conspiracy theories surrounding the Haitians in the area (the vast majority of which are there legally). Several Haitian migrants have filed suit against Trump and Vance. Just this week, Republican Representative from Louisiana, Clay Higgins, provided this rant on X: "Lol. These Haitians are wild. Eating pets, vudu, nastiest country in the western hemisphere, cults, slapstick gangsters...but damned if they don't feel sophisticated now, filing charges against our President and VP. All these thugs better get their mind right and their ass out of our country before January 20th." This week, my conversation partner, Loren Romeus (who is Haitian) will help me unpack the power narratives beneath these sound bytes, interviews, memes, and tweets. We'll explore why our power narratives matter and what's at stake when we embrace or excuse lies. Join us as we continue to dig for God's gold in the baffling story of American politics.

This week on Ring of Fire! It wouldn't be a holiday in the United States without Donald Trump posting something horribly offensive and inappropriate on social media, and Memorial Day this year was no exception. Trump posted a message wishing a Happy Memorial Day to all, including the "human scum" that have been successful in holding him accountable in court. Arkansas governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders caught flak over the weekend for ignoring her constituents while tornadoes ravaged the state and killed at least 8 people. Instead of being their for her state during an emergency, Sanders had flown to North Carolina to catch a NASCAR event. This is what Republican "leadership" looks like - just like when Ted Cruz abandoned Texas during snowstorms to go to Cancun. Donald Trump's campaign claimed that about 25,000 people showed up to his rally in The Bronx last week, but that claim was swiftly debunked by aerial photographs that showed a crowd much smaller than that. Trump has been lying consistently about the size of his rally crowds because he believes that is the only barometer to gauge how popular he is. And if he's right about that, then he's definitely in trouble. Donald Trump threw a fit on Tuesday morning over Republican Representative, and House Freedom Caucus Chair, Bob Good. Trump got on Truth Social and attacked Good as being bad, and then went on to endorse his primary opponent. Good's race has split Republicans in the House, with some endorsing his opponent while others are standing by him. But the big question is why is this hard right lawmaker even facing a challenge? The answer is even dumber than you'd expect. All that, and much more, on this week's Ring of Fire Podcast!

Finding common ground in Washington is rare and urgent. Rob Portman has a record of passing more than 200 bills that were signed into law by Presidents Obama, Trump, and Biden. His leadership is exemplified by the 2021 infrastructure bill that builds an economic lifeline to the future, support to defend Ukraine's freedom in the face of growing Republican resistance, and courageous defense of his son's decision to come out as gay. In conversation with moderator Larry Jacobs, Rob Portman will draw on his three decades of experience working for two Republican Presidents and serving in Congress as a Republican Representative and US Senator to identify his approaches to achieving bipartisan progress. About the Series: The Nakasaka Dialogues stimulate conversations about the state of public life and encourage progress toward our shared bonds. This event series is made possible by a generous contribution from Humphrey School of Public Affairs alumnus Kiyoshi Nakasaka.
Three news stories summarized & contextualized by analytic journalist Colin Wright.Russia mourns victims of concert shootingSummary: On Sunday, Russia marked a day of mourning for the victims of an attack on a concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow, during which at least 133 people were killed and more than 150 were injured; responsibility for the attack has been claimed by the regional wing of the Islamic State extremist group.Context: Details are still being collected and assessed, and the Russian government has said the official death toll will likely continue to rise, but it would seem that four gunmen opened-fire with automatic weapons at the Crocus City Hall concert venue on Friday of last week, just as people were arriving and taking their seats for a sold out show; Russian officials say they've caught the four gunmen, alongside seven other individuals who may have been involved, that the gunmen seemed to be trying to escape into Ukraine following the attack, and that they believe Ukraine was somehow involved—a claim that Ukrainian leadership denies; US intelligence sources warned of a potential terrorist attack in Moscow two weeks earlier, telling US citizens in the city to avoid large crowds.—ReutersOne Sentence News is a reader-supported publication. Welcome to Estudio DC's podcast. In this episode, we explore the Republican perspective on immigration reform and border security. Join us as we sit down with one of the freshest faces in Congress, the Republican Representative of New York's 17th district, Mike Lawler. Have you ever wondered about the Republican approach to crafting a more effective immigration system? Curious about their strategies to tackle border issues head-on? Representative Lawler shares insights into the GOP's vision for a comprehensive and pragmatic immigration policy, shedding light on their proposed solutions and strategies. In this candid conversation, we discuss what Republicans plan to do if they secure the presidency and how they aim to garner a majority in Congress or the Senate. It's a glimpse into the party's future aspirations and the steps they believe will lead to a more secure and prosperous America.
Donald Trump put his mental instability on full display for the world to see on Christmas Day when he posted a message on Truth Social telling all kinds of people that he despises to "rot in hell." The message even included an attack on people who drive electric cars, though it isn't quite clear why they were specifically targeted. If any other candidate for public office posted a message like this their career would be over, but somehow Trump keeps getting away with it. Also, a Republican Representative in North Dakota was stopped by police recently (and later arrested for driving under the influence,) where he went on a racist and homophobic rant against the officers and America. The Representative has since apologized for his words that evening, but it is hard to accept that apology when he was so filled with vitriol and hatred. And Lauren Boebert is in serious trouble of not even making it past her primary race next year, as voters and high-profile Republicans in Colorado cite her "improper behavior" as the reason that they are dumping her. The straw that broke the camel's back appears to be her actions during the Beetlejuice Musical performance a few months ago, and Republicans in her state are NOT letting go of their anger over that event. Finally, it was revealed last week that a taped phone call exists where both Donald Trump and RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel attempted to pressure two Michigan canvassers to NOT certify the votes of their county in order to help Trump steal the election. McDaniel even promised to hire the people good lawyers if they complied. This directly implicates the head of the RNC in Trump's plot, and Michigan's Secretary of State has not ruled out filing criminal charges against her.
Dom welcomes in Representative Craig Williams back onto the Dom Giordano Program to discuss the ongoing hearing into the impeachment of Larry Krasner. Williams, the Republican Representative leading the effort, takes us inside the virtual courtroom where arguments are being heard, telling about the lengthy testimony by Krasner's lawyers that rely on the defense that he's being impeached solely because he's disliked by State Republicans. Williams then previews what the Republican argument will be, again telling of the negative implications of Krasner's policies on the safety and lives of Philadelphians. Also, Williams, who announced a run for Attorney General today, tells how he, sitting in that position, will return accountability to Pennsylvania's criminal justice system. (Photo by Getty Images)
Full Hour | Today, Dom led off the Dom Giordano Program by offering updates on the Hunter Biden situation, telling that the President's son has said he's willing to testify, which Giordano accepts with open arms. Then, Dom heads into an analysis of the conservative contest in the Presidential primary, telling that the Koch family has now come out in support of Nikki Haley. This leads Dom to play back a clip from Evangelical leader Bob Vander Plaats who said that he believes Iowa will rise up to vote against Donald Trump based on a moral basis. Then, Dom welcomes in Representative Craig Williams back onto the Dom Giordano Program to discuss the ongoing hearing into the impeachment of Larry Krasner. Georgia's Republican Representative, Marjorie Taylor Greene, recently communicated with Christopher Wray, the current FBI Director, with a request to initiate an inquiry centered on Michigan's Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib. The premise of this request arises from speculation around Tlaib's continuous membership with the Palestinian American Congress's Facebook group. Fox News purportedly disclosed that this group expressed approbation for the acts of Hamas, which led to the unfortunate demise of over 1,200 civilians arising from terrorist activities against Israel on the 7th of October. Greene, not one to shy away from making her intent known, imparted this information to Director Wray during a session of the Homeland Security Committee held on Wednesday. She posed the question of whether the FBI would extend their scope of investigation to incorporate cases such as Tlaib's. In concert with her request, Greene also voiced criticisms regarding the FBI's prioritization strategy, primarily surrounding their focus on apprehending participants of the January 6th chaos. To further elaborate her concern, Greene probed, “Mr. Wray, are members of Congress, lining up with or being part of a Facebook group linked to an organization like Hamas, a matter of interest to the FBI?” Her question met with a somewhat unanticipated response from Wray, with him stating, “Our investigations do not target individuals solely based on their participation in a Facebook group.”See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Oregon is grappling with a severe housing crisis. Recent data reveals that the median selling price of homes in Oregon is hovering around the $500,000 mark. In swiftly growing cities like Bend, this figure climbs even higher due to significantly constrained housing availability. Governor Tina Kotek has set an ambitious target of constructing 36,000 new homes annually. However, critics argue that current regulations, coupled with limited land resources stemming from the Urban Growth Boundary and Oregon's stringent land use guidelines, render this goal unattainable. Joining our discussion today is Jodi Hack, a former Republican Representative and now the CEO of the Oregon Home Builder's Association. Jodi will help us break down what all is contributing to the housing shortage and what policies may need to change in order to increase inventory and address the demand for affordable housing in Oregon.

The Option Genius Podcast: Options Trading For Income and Growth
So this week, we have two different high ranking Republicans who want to raise the retirement age in the United States. That's what we're talking about in today's video. If you enjoy these type of videos, if you want to learn about retirement and how to make more money so that you can retire more comfortably, please go ahead and subscribe to the channel. Appreciate that it would really help get the message across, we can get more information to you. So now let's talk about what's going on. So earlier this week, Nikki Haley who is running for president, actually, she's running for the nomination to eventually run for president. But she's a very high ranking Republican, big in the circles and she made a comment that she wants to raise the Social Security entitlement age when you can collect social security higher than 67. Now, it used to be 65. Now it's 67. She wants to raise it even more. And then on the talk shows CNN asked Nancy Mace who is a Republican Representative from South Carolina if she agreed with that. And then she was like, yeah, definitely, we definitely need to do this because Social Security is screwed up. The Republicans and the Democrats have screwed it up, and we need to fix it. Now. Nobody's going to argue that it needs to be fixed. But with Nikki Haley's version, she wants to change the retirement age, not for older folks, but for people in their 20s. Right, because people in their 20s don't vote Republican. So yeah, okay, that makes perfect sense for you. But yeah, there's a problem there. It needs to be fixed. Social Security is, I mean, we've been hearing rumors about its demise for years, is it gonna happen not happen? Eventually, somebody's gonna have to come in and fix it, because we don't have any other options for most of the people in this country. Now, unfortunately, we're not the only ones in this boat. France this week, President Macron he almost single handedly passed a bill or law, whatever, that they are going to raise the retirement age in France from 62 to 64. And that has led to massive protests, and strikes all across the country, the garbage sanitation workers they're on strike, there's garbage piling up all over the country, the bus, drivers union, they're on strike, buses aren't running all kinds of crazy stuff is happening, because people are enraged. People are scared. People are. I mean, they that's the biggest fear that people have. They're not fear of death, they're not scared of public speaking as much as they are afraid of running out of money in retirement, and becoming a burden to their family or somebody else. And it's very legitimate, you know, I'm going through a personal issue right now with my father who, for the first time in his life has become dependent, he has some back issues, he can't move. And it's driving him crazy that he has to be reliant on nurses and help and other people to even move around to even go to the bathroom. And it's mind blowingly depressing. You know, if you have read the Passive Trading Book, which you can get up passivetrading.com. If you read the book, you know that Social Security was not supposed to be gotten in the sense that when they came out with Social Security, they set the retirement age at 65. But at that time, most people didn't live to 65. And so yeah, they didn't really want you to get in Social Security, right? But it was good for votes. Now, people are living well past 65. So almost everybody gets Social Security. And it's only getting worse. I mean, I'm 46, myself, and I plan on living to 120. So I mean, let's say if I got in, and I started working at the age of 26, or 21, whatever, right? And I'm going to retire at age 65 or 67. I'll have put in a certain amount of money, but then I'm going to take money out from 67 all the way to 120. So I'll be taking a lot more money out that I put in, and so will everybody else. And so yes, somebody definitely has to be done with Social Security. But I for one, am not sure that the government officials, even though they're elected, these politicians are the ones that should be creating this stuff. Yes, they have people that are experts, supposedly they're advising them, but it comes down to the lobbyists, right? Whoever's got the biggest lobby, Wall Street, the banks, investment companies, they're the ones that are going to set the policy and it's really a shame, but that's how it works. So here's what you need to do and here's how it should be. Okay? The proper way to look at social security is that it is the cherry on top of your retirement planning sundae. So you got your ice cream, you got your hot fudge, you got your nuts, I love my nuts, and you got your whipped cream. The cherry on top is Social Security, you might get it, you might not get it, but you shouldn't need it. Too many people in this country are only living on Social Security, that's the only income they have, they have no savings, they have nothing else. They're only living on Social Security, and their life is miserable, they're already miserable. And it's only going to get worse because they might raise the age of social security. Or they might lower the benefits or a combination of the two. That's scary, right? If you need a certain amount to live on, you got your medicines, you got your rent, you got all your stuff, and then you have less money coming in automatically. Now these are folks, they can't go back to work, because they're too old. Or they're not capable, healthwise, or whatever reason they can't find a job. You know, these are the people that are working at Walmart as the greeter. Yeah, that's an easy job. You stand there all day, but your knees hurt like crazy. And it's not fun. And I don't want you know, my father or my mom or anyone else to be actually having to do that. So what do we do? What do you do? Well, it's laid out in the book, passive trading, you need to take advantage of what's out there, you need to take advantage of the situation now, as soon as you can. Today is the only day you have, you can't do it tomorrow, can't do yesterday, you need to start today. And so you can watch the other videos on this channel, you can head over to option genius.com. You can listen to other episodes of our podcast, but you have to get started. Right? There's nothing else. And if you're having trouble, reach out to us last for help, say what do I do, we're coming out with more and more products that are speaking to the market. And one of the ones that we're thinking about, and I put this out to one of our groups, and I said, Hey, look, I'm thinking about doing a workshop, you know, maybe 3-4 hour workshops, I'm going to cost a lot of money. And basically the title is How to retire on one stock. And people went nuts, they're going, Oh, my God, that would be so amazing, I need that I need that that would be so great. Because it's all about simplicity. That's what we teach anyway, you know, you're investing you're trading should be simple. If you cannot explain it to a six year old, it's too complicated, right? If you have to tell them all the way when this when this X goes through this line, and this thing chops up, and then this beep goes off, then and I put this trade on, and I can I have to get out. It's too complicated. It can be simple. And it doesn't have to take a lot of time. We have people doing it all the time. And we're actually starting a hedge fund that is going to be doing it exactly the same way that we teach it. So if we can do it with millions of dollars, I'm sure you could do it with your account. And I'm sure you can figure it out. And you can learn because we're willing to teach you we're going to teach you exactly what to do. So yes, the Republicans and the Democrats are going to be talking about this, you're going to you're going to hear about this, in the future, as the elections come closer, it's probably going to be a debated topic. If not, it's going to happen, eventually, something is going to change has to change because the government, unfortunately, they're paying out a lot in Social Security. And they're not that good at investing the money. So yes, they could probably print a lot more money and fill it up with Social Security or some old bonds or whatnot. But that's just going to put the country deeper and deeper in debt. And if that continues, eventually that's going to stop as well. And then the country will go broke and then Social Security will go broke and then it'll just be worse. So hopefully, whatever they come up with, they don't kick the can down the road, they fix it, they solve it, they do the issue, but I have Well, I'm not holding my breath. For these Republicans to kick, you know, dissolve it. They're probably just gonna keep kicking the can so it makes good headlines. You know that, oh, hey, we have a problem. We have a solution to this problem. Yay. And for those of you who are voting for us, it's not gonna affect you. Yay, it's gonna affect your kids. Oh, wonderful. So they're, they're going to suffer. But at least you don't vote for us. So we're good. That's what the Republicans think. Democrats are gonna think the opposite. They're going to try to come up with some other way. But something has to be done. Hopefully, it will be done better than worse than, you know, something good is gonna come out of this. But in the meantime, don't hold your breath. You need to take action. So hopefully, you've already started. You know, you're putting money away. You're saving money you're investing, learn to trade. Start with one strategy. Maybe it's a covered call, maybe it's a naked put, whatever it is. Is pick one strategy, we have plenty of them to choose from, and start working it, start making some money and compound it and watch the other videos, watch our podcast to see how that money works, how the strategies works, how it compounds, and then we'll need that silly little cherry on top. I mean, the way that I don't even like those chairs, to be honest, though it's all processed, it's not a fresh cherry the sauce on it is like nasty. So I don't want my my my Sunday my beautiful ice cream sundae messed up with that cherry anyway. But in terms of extra money, sure if it's around, when I'm 67. And who knows, maybe 69. So I don't know when they're going to change it. But for now it's at 67. If it's still around, sure, I'll take it. But I'm not holding my breath that is gotta be there. And I'm not planning to rely on it. And neither should you. So ask yourself this question. You know, do a thought experiment Einstein used to do these all the time, right? What is going to happen if you CANNOT collect Social Security? Ask yourself that question. This is a thought experiment-- financial planning, retirement planning thought experiment? What will happen to you If you do not, CANNOT collect Social Security? Whether it's not there? Or you don't qualify? Whatever. What's going to happen to you? When are you going to retire? If are you going to retire? Will you be able to retire? What's going to happen if you can't work anymore? What's gonna happen? It's not fun to think about. But you have to, because nobody's going to care about you, like you, nobody's going to take care of you, as well, as you'll take care of yourself. And you do not want to be dependent on others. Okay, I hope I got through. I hope, really, that it hit home, and that this message works and you start getting to business? Just do it just start. Even if you lose some money in the beginning, that's okay. People do. It's normal, you know, when you're learning something new, it's not gonna be perfect, you're not going to get it right, every time of right off the bat is going to take some time. And that's the problem that people wait too long to get started. We have emails almost every week from somebody, well, you know, I'm going to be retiring in a year, and I want to learn how to do this stuff. So yeah, that's great. I wish you would have started 20 years ago, right, then you would have really had a big ass nest egg, and you wouldn't have to worry about anything. But even if they're 6465, and they're starting now, hey, they got plenty of time to learn this stuff. And it's simple. It's not easy. It's simple, simple to understand. And then you got to learn it, get through the experience, put the trades on, master some strategy. And then you don't have to worry about Social Security. You don't have to worry about what the politicians are going to do with it, and your life will be much better. There'll be less stress, less headaches, and less worry. And that's what I want for all of you. So with that said, I wish for all the trades to work out in your favor, but if they don't at least trade with the odds in your favor. Take care. We'll see you next time.
This week, we break down some of the bills that DFLers have gotten signed into law, discuss a particularly fiery outburst from a Republican Representative, explain some cannabis math, and debut a new segment. Be sure to tune in!
Over the past few months, news organizations continue to uncover lies and embellishments about Representative George Santos' past, resume, and campaign finances. The Republican Representative of New York's 3rd Congressional District, which covers parts of Long Island and Queens, is now facing several investigations into those lies. The Freshman lawmaker was only sworn in a month ago, and is also facing calls from some lawmakers in his own party to step down. Many of his constituents are calling for his resignation. A recent Newsday/Siena College poll found that 78% of those surveyed in his district want Santos to resign. And on Tuesday, a busload of Santos's constituents rode down to D.C., protested on Capitol Hill, and handed his staff members a petition for his resignation. We look at what repercussions Santos could face in Congress and what rules are in place to prevent other lawmakers from lying to constituents with David Cruz, WNYC's People & Power politics editor.

"CONGRESS DEBATES THE HORRORS OF SOCIALISM WHILE THE U.S. LIVES UNDER THE HORRORS OF CAPITALISM!"In this episode of his "Thinking Out Loud" series, Double D discusses the farce of the House Resolution to condemn "The Horrors of Socialism."Opening the video, Double D outlines some of the points made on the debate floor surrounding the resolution. Noting the absolute naivete and ignorance surrounding notions and perspectives concerning socialism. He picks out Republican Representative from Florida, Maria Salazar's arguments. Noting that she insists that Socialism and Communism have been responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of people world wide. Double D scoffs at this notion, and points out that Salazar and other U.S. politicians conveniently ignore the massive death toll racked up by capitalist systems. He cites US chattel slavery, colonialism, apartheid, genocide, the rise of fascism, two world wars, and the perpetuation of wealth inequality as all being the violent legacy of capitalist systems. He also dismisses Salazar's comments which insist that socialism inherently leads to totalitarianism. Double D notes that apologists for capitalism always ignore capitalism's predisposition to learn towards inverted totalitarianism, that is the dictatorship of capital, hiding behind the façade of democracy with the illusion of choice manifesting in the lie of corporate consumerism.Double D moves on to dissect arguments from Democratic politicians. He condemns their willingness to engage in this political theater in order to garner clout from their more center-leaning constituents. He takes particular aim at Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who "condemned socialist autocrats" despite her notorious role in fixing the Democratic Primaries to prop up American autocrats such as the Clintons. He goes on to point out how even the most progressive of Democrats, including Ro Khanna, reject the idea of nationalization or moving beyond capitalism. He uses a video clip with Khanna's statements to suggest that even in the greatest upsurge of "progressive democratic revolution" the people of the U.S. will be left with little more than Band-Aid solutions to the existential crises being caused by capitalism. Double D ends this segment by pointing out the hypocrisy that is the root of capitalist arguments against socialism; he notes that the very horror stories promised to us if we dare to move down the path of socialism, is the very real horror we live with day to day under capitalist systems. He notes media narratives of "hard working or charitable Americans" which with just a few change of words, could be spun to portrait the supposed "horrors of socialism", including breadlines, homelessness, crumbling infrastructure, and shortages of basic goods.Moving on from the floor debate, Double D examines some of the points made within the house resolution. He points out how many of its claims, centered around the supposed atrocities of socialist movements, are rooted in false narratives and cooked statistics that have been perpetuated by fascist sympathizers, the US state, and foundations that have questionable origins; citing the author of the infamous novel 'Gulag Archipelago' and the team that produced 'The Black Book of Communism.'Double D highlights the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC). He examines the foundations founders, noting several Ukrainian Nationalists, fascist collaborators, and mouth pieces of big business; including the founder of the Heritage Foundation; an institutional supporter of U.S. imperial policy and advocate of corporatism.Double D ends the video by discerning the ties between multinational corporations, the US intelligence community, fascist movements worldwide, and organizations like the VOC. He insists that we are all living in a multi-layered false reality that has been pushed upon us for generations by capitalists and other powe

We say this often, but this week we have a very special episode of the High-Rise. Our hosts Cy and Emily along with a returning guest host — the founder of One Plant, recovering lawyer, and cannabis insider Brady Cobb. The conversation stays focused on a single topic this week which is the States Reform Act. What does this mean for the cannabis industry? In essence this legislation would federally decriminalize cannabis and fully defer to state powers over prohibition and commercial regulation. The bill was written by Nancy Mace a Republican Representative from South Carolina. The framework for this bill differs from the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act written by Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in a few distinct ways but also stays true to the spirit behind Schumer's bill as well. We let Brady take the floor and give us a bit of an inside scoop on all the details around this new legislation and how this could finally be what brings the US cannabis industry out of prohibition forever. As always we hope you enjoy this week's discussion, please do leave us a review and subscribe for all future High-Rise episodes wherever you stream your podcasts!https://twitter.com/BCobblawhttps://oneplant.ushttps://www.leafly.com/news/politics/states-reform-act-republican-marijuana-legalization-bill-analysishttps://mjbizdaily.com/south-carolina-republican-reveals-marijuana-legalization-bill-shell-introduce-in-congress/

A Pumpkin Patch, a Typewriter, and Richard Nixon: The Hiss-Chambers Espionage Case
Richard M. Nixon, Library of Congress Alger Hiss calmly and patiently denies Whittaker Chambers' two charges: that the two of them were in the Communist underground in 1934-37 and that they became close friends. The Commie-hunters on the House Un-American Activities Committee are swept away by his poise and simplicity and tell him what a wonderful witness he is. Only two listeners smell something fishy in Hiss' carefully phrased testimony: a staffer named Robert Stripling and a freshman Republican Representative named Richard Nixon. The two form a team of rivals (each claiming credit for the tall thinking and smart talking) and change history. All four men are now inextricably intertwined in a scandal that will rock the nation. Further Research Episode 6: Robert Stripling's book (largely ghostwritten by the popular writer Bob Considine) is “The Red Plot Against America” (Bell 1949); it describes Hiss's testimony and reactions to it at 110-16. More accounts of Hiss's first testimony are; Nixon at 5-11; Smith at 161-83; Toledano at 151-54; and Weinstein at 21-28. The full transcript of Hiss's testimony is in the Alpa Editions reprint of the HUAC hearings at 642-59. Alger Hiss's memoir of the Case, “In the Court of Public Opinion” (Knopf 1957) describes at 3-14 Hiss's reaction to Chambers' accusations and his first testimony in response. This book is so dry (in it, Hiss never once describes having a feeling) that it has been called the only boring book ever written about this Case. More interesting pro-Hiss reading is the John Chabot Smith book referenced above and a pro-Hiss book that focuses on Nixon's misstatements and craftiness (a territory almost as target-rich as Hiss's testimonies), “A Tissue of Lies: Nixon vs. Hiss” (McGraw Hill 1979) by Morton and Michael Levitt. Questions: You're Alger Hiss, President of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and a minor luminary of America's post-War foreign policy establishment. Whittaker Chambers testifies to HUAC that the two of you were in a secret Communist chat group 10-15 years ago and that you two became best friends. What do you do? Several options: (1) Do nothing, because no one who matters to your life cares a fig for what goes on at HUAC; (2) appear before the Committee with both guns blazing, in the style of the Hollywood Communists (but remember they came to a sticky end); (3) admit, sheepishly, that back in the dark days of the Great Depression, when you were just out of grad school and had more youthful idealism than good judgment, you did something very foolish that, fortunately, did no harm in the long run and you stopped doing it years ago; and (4) calmly deny Chambers' charges like a gentleman who will not stoop to wrestle in the mud; tough it out, hope Chambers gets tangled up in melodrama, and that, with your sterling reputation and friends in high places, you can emerge in two weeks as fabulous as always and with the added sheen of having repulsed a despicable smear campaign. Hiss chose #4. If you were Hiss, would your choice depend much on whether Chambers' charges were true? What if they were true and you knew that you two had also been in a spy ring, a major league crime that Chambers could blackmail you with for the rest of your life if you admitted to the chat group and the friendship? But since he was in the spy ring, too, you could blackmail him for the rest of his life. Extra Credit Question: I assume that by now you have read parts of Hiss's testimony and its dissection by Nixon and Stripling. As you read Hiss for the first time, did you notice any of the suspicion-raising bits that Nixon and Stripling saw?

Clinton Eugene Curtis, an IT Engineer and Attorney, gives Direct Insight into the VERY MURKY nature of the world of Electronic Voting and how it affects the Elections. Clint was hired by a Republican Representative of the State Of Florida's 24th District, to Write Computer Code that would sway the outcome of an election 51-49 in either direction. In this episode, Clint explains the details of just how simple it is to write such a script, goes in depth on the manufacturers of our voting machines, tells of how the very same script he wrote just prior to that 2000 election, could have been used many times over since then, all around the world. He also gets into some of the actions of retaliation against him for coming forward. Clint drops Many knowledge bombs over the course of the podcast, so I definitely urge you to listen to the end. I did this interview for several reasons. Firstly, because the story is SO IMPORTANT and SO RELEVANT. It should be a household topic right now. Secondly, because I admire true Heroes, and whistleblowers Are heroes, putting their peace and safety at risk. And lastly, to put an end to this whole Left/Right Farce. I had enough of Ex-President Trump trying to point the finger at one side as if there is only one guilty side that plays dirty. He knows they all do, INCLUDING HIMSELF. So here is the Factual, undeniable truth about a Republican getting caught trying to rig an election. Let go of the joke of a narrow reality that you have grown up in and been handed down. There's a lot of talk about being "woke" these days.. I hope you have not lost sight of what that truly means. It means realizing yourself and your capacity, and realizing self AND the world, beyond the Hollywood set they would have you exist within, with false characters, fraudulent rules, restrictive ideas and more, all in the name of Money, Power and Control. Darrell Castle talks about Democrat efforts to complete the necessary political structure to gain a permanent hold on power. Transcription / Notes: STALIN OFTEN GOT 100% OF THE VOTE Hello this is Darrell Castle with today's Castle Report. Today is Friday the 5th day of February in the year 2021 and in this Report, I will be talking about Democrat efforts to complete the necessary political structure to gain a permanent hold on power. I remind you that what the Democrats are working toward has been done before. In 1937 95% of the Russian people voted and Joe Stalin received 100% of that vote. It was all reported as headlines in the New York Times. Stalin was elected but he had absolute power for as long as he lived. The Castle family is doing well this week despite all the upsetting political news, we carry on. Earlier this week we celebrated the family daughter's birthday by Zoom. We could not be together as a family, but we celebrate as best we can, and we are grateful for the video capabilities of Zoom. Joe Stalin had absolute power and complete control of the voting process and the vote count. Opposition to his candidacy tended not to survive very long. The Democrats in America are not there yet but they are building toward permanent power all the while describing their efforts as unity. They continually ratchet up the tension when they have opportunities to calm it down. Joe Biden and Joe Stalin share some frightening similarities. Joe Biden on behalf of the Democrat Party seeks total power by way of majority control of the Senate, House, Supreme Court, and the Presidency. Stalin did it by purging and executing those he feared as disloyal or enemies. I have not heard that Joe Biden is executing his enemies or those he considers disloyal, but he is purging them. Joe Stalin was so afraid of ranking military officers that he had hundreds of his most competent officers executed. When the Germans invaded his purges cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers because they did not have competent officers. Joe Biden had the FBI vett and reject disloyals from the 25000 national guard troops sent to occupy Washington D.C. When Biden's new secretary of defense took over the Pentagon, he ordered a 60 day stand down of all U.S. military personnel worldwide. The purpose of the stand down was to purge the military of white supremacy and extremism. The purge came at the same time a general office at the top of U.S. strategic command publicly stated that nuclear war with China and Russia was a real possibility. It sure sounds like the ghost of Joe Stalin wanders through the streets of D.C. Maybe the Democrats are drunk with power, maybe they serve an outside agenda, or maybe Donald Trump forced them to shed their disguise and reveal who they really are. The things I have mentioned so far have all happened in a period of about two weeks so how much worse can it get. Marjorie Taylor Greene newly elected Republican Representative from the 14th district of Georgia who was elected with 75% of the votes of her district was stripped of all her committee assignments by the Democrat majority house. They did not strip Ilhan Omar or AOC who recently said her life was in danger from the January 6th incident at the capital when she was not even in the capital. The only reason Marjorie has been treated this way is that Democrats do not like her politics, and she will not shut up and be a nice little girl. Once again, the Democrats are building permanent power and they will not tolerate dissent. The next step which is being prepared now for Marjorie is expulsion from congress. The Democrat COVID Aid bill just passed the Senate by a vote of 50-49 with one Republican dissenting. The bill will fund 1.9 trillion debt dollars for stimulus and for aiding those affected by the virus. By a vote in the senate of 50-49 with one Republican dissenting, each person who is allowed by Democrats to receive free money is supposed to get $1400 by the la...

Republican Representative from Texas Show notes: https://www.markgraban.com/mistake2 My guest for Episode #2 is not currently a business leader, but he is going back into the private sector in January 2021. He is Congressman Will Hurd, a Republican representing Texas's 23rd Congressional District. Hurd was student body president at Texas A&M University, he served as a CIA undercover operations officer including stints in the field in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. After working for a cybersecurity company, he was elected to the House in 2014. Today, the Congressman talks about his “favorite mistake,” which includes his lessons learned from running and losing his first election in a runoff. We'll also hear about his experiences in the CIA and how they focus on training — and executing the mundane tasks perfectly — as a way to prevent bigger, catastrophic mistakes. Its Episode 49 and Rooster and Crow are back together in Studio O.N.E to discuss the topics that they think you should care about. –Representative Rashida Talib calls a Republican Representative racist during the Cohen testimony and Crow was initially enraged when he first heard it but is now highly amused after watching the video. –Captain Marvel may be the beginning of the end for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Intersectional feminism and racial hatred of the core audience seems to be the marketing strategy for the film. Crow explains how Marvel comics tried to force-feed Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) to readers as the most beloved superhero in the Marvel universe. –Crow accidentally mis-genders the author of ‘A Wrinkle In Time’. –Rotten Tomatoes capitulates to and shills for Disney. –Crow tell a tale of two charitable causes promoted in conjunction with a movie. ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ does it right while ‘Captain Marvel’ shits the bed. –Give our Facebook page a like! If we get to 50 likes, in honor of our upcoming 50th episode, we will do the Surstromming challenge and post the video to Youtube. What is the Surstromming Challenge? Rooster and Crow must take a bite of one of the most putrid foods on the planet and the odds are that at least one of them will vomit. email us: rooster@breadandcircusespodcast.com crow@breadandcircusespodcast.com

The assassination attempt of a Republican Senator on Wednesday this last week followed by a threat against all Republicans in the Senate demonstrates that Biblical Christianity is being threatened by those who lost in the election of 2016. Donald Trump, as he ran for the office of the president of the United States claimed that he would drain the swamp of corruption that is in Washington D.C. ----The assassination attempt of Republicans in the Senate, this last Wednesday demonstrates that the dominion of darkness in Colossians 1-9-14 goes much deeper than just Washington, DC. ----Donald Trump-s swamp surrounding Washington DC is nothing compared to the blight, corruption, darkness, and futility in America that stretches across the nation from Sea to Shining Sea.----When the would be assassin, James Hodgkinson, a volunteer worker for the Bernie Sanders- failed presidential bid, arrived at the Democrat and Republican Baseball practice for Thursday-s game, he asked whether the players were Democrats or Republicans. When they announced that they were Republicans, he maneuvered himself into a situation where he could begin shooting at the Republicans who were surrounded by a 10ft high chain link fence which made them into sitting ducks. Shortly after the Scalise attack another Republican Representative received a text that read, One Down 216 yet to go.----Colossians 1-9-14 demonstrates that God has qualified His people to share in Christ's inheritance, to be transferred from the dominion of darkness, and conveyed into the kingdom of His dear Son whom He loved.
