BONUS EPISODE! For a surprise bonus episode, I sat down to chat with Karl Hörnell to talk about his recently released speculative fiction novel Singularity Minus Twelve. Karl is also a game designer who was fairly prolific on the Commodore 64 back in the 80's along with web based gaming in the later 90's/early 00's. His novel Singularity Minus Twelve tries to imagine our world in the future with how AI may be integrated into our lives. It's also a freakin' fun read where it's like the Dirty Dozen (you know that 1967 movie) meets rogue AI. In this gaming adjacent episode (hence why it's a bonus episode) we discuss how his game development career influenced his writing and the themes he wanted to incorporate into the book and what does being sentient really mean.

Looking at the evolution of a genre is one of my favorite parts of studying game history. I attempted my own version of this with my history of RTS series a few years back but my guest today does a much more thorough look into a different game genre. Joining me on this episode is game developer and author Stuart Maine. Stuart has a new book out from Bitmap books called "Hurt Me Plenty: The Ultimate Guide to First-Person Shooters 2003–2010" and the title says it all!

We left you with half of the Zelda's to go and in this ep, we finish 'em off. Plus, Roses and Matt both played games by former guests of the show. Matt played some of the new* Indiana Jones.
Player VS Podcast is nearly over but it's going out with my favorite game of 2022, and possibly my favorite RPG - Dragon Quest V! What makes this entry in the series so special? Could it have gone toe to toe with Final Fantasy IV, V OR VI?? And most importantly...is it worth playing all these years later? There's a lot to unpack so get comfy! We started off Punch a N*zi month by taking on Mecha Hitler and now we are continuing the series with some resistance. I'm joined by Dave Pietrangelo from the Remember 64 podcast to talk about the second installment in the Medal of Honor series, Medal of Honor: Underground. This game approached WW2 from a different direction than the first game. Instead of an American soldier you play as Manon Batiste, a french resistance fighter. Dave and I break down Manon's journey as she avenges her brothers death and helps liberate her home country. This game means a lot to me and it means even more now. If you have not played this game I highly recommend it. The far more censored version of the award-winning and unparalleled "A Mediocre Time with Tom and Dan." - "A Corporate Time" is a daily companion and terrestrial radio show heard nationally on iHeartRadio. It's silly.
It's Day 3 of our podcast week and we're diving into a question that's been on everyone's minds for a while... are we autistic? That's right. The whole Mega64 crew took an autism test and we revealed the results live on the show. Tune in for another episode tomorrow!
On this podcast, we're not afraid to venture the bravest, boldest opinions. The opinions THEY don't want you to hear. Opinions like: Myst should have a jump button.A LOT of Chicago talk in this one, because Roses had a birthday and Matt went out to celebrate. We talk about pizza, Malort, a weird collectibles store... you know, Chicago stuff! But the TRUE STAR of this episode is our now-infamous list of EVERY ADVENTURE GAME EVER where we pull games up at random and rank them whether we've played them or not! In this episode, we reach 100 games! Enjoy and feel free to email us to argue if we get something wrong!Email us! mattandroses@gmail.comGames Mentioned - Look, it's way too many to list, so this time? I'm just gonna list the three we talk about that don't have to do with our ranking list: Myst Blue Prince Rosewater

Listen, the first 15 minutes of this podcast are about hair. We understand the inconvenience this may cause you. You expect a certain level of non-hair content from us, and we have failed to fulfill this responsibility. We will take accountability and reflect on our actions (and our hair) and, while we cannot promise that we won't do it again, we can promise that we had fun when we did it.In addition to this, Matt has more to say about Blue Prince, and both hosts have more to say about Wanderstop.Email us! mattandroses@gmail.comGames Mentioned: Myst Blue Prince Animal Well Wanderstop Stardew Valley
