Despite being over 27 years old, developers are still making games for the Game Boy Color - and one such game designer and coder is Shane McCafferty. He has been making games since he was 11, but has taken his side hustle and hobby onto a whole new level, releasing 9 Game Boy Color games on ItchIO in the past 18 months.  We find out what it is that compels Shane to make games like Block Droppin, Cave Dave and Word Forward for the Game Boy Color, which projects kept him up at night, and the ones he's most proud of. We also discuss his current project to make a 'What If?' version of OutRun for the GBC.

We started off Punch a N*zi month by taking on Mecha Hitler and now we are continuing the series with some resistance. I'm joined by Dave Pietrangelo from the Remember 64 podcast to talk about the second installment in the Medal of Honor series, Medal of Honor: Underground. This game approached WW2 from a different direction than the first game. Instead of an American soldier you play as Manon Batiste, a french resistance fighter. Dave and I break down Manon's journey as she avenges her brothers death and helps liberate her home country. This game means a lot to me and it means even more now. This direct was a complete 180 from the previous one, where the only thing that really got me hyped was Metroid Prime 4. I'm 100% on board with being an early adopter for this, whereas, I wasn't when the original Switch was announced. They're truly making a version of the Switch that I always wanted. Not only that, but they also announced games that I'm excited for, which seals the deal that it's going to be a day 1 purchase. I didn't expect it, but the game I am most excited for is DK Bananza! Also, with my kids getting older and moving out, I love the integrated video chat and screen sharing options. There are game's that have cult followings that while I understand why they do, the game just doesnt hit for me. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver falls squarely into the "This was probably good back in the day" camp for me. I see it's merits as a game from 1999 but man is it hard to play now. Another Mario Month comes to a close. Helping me round out Mario Month this year is Bill from the Gaming and Collecting Podcast to discuss the second game in the Mario & Luigi series, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. This game is a prime example of a sequel, meaning it's the most sequel I've ever seen a sequel sequel. What did any of that mean? It's a sequel in good and bad ways. Bill and I dissect what works and what doesn't, where we would have liked to see more changed and where maybe they could have changed less. This game was a polarizing one for me but thankfully Bill is a fan and was able to balance it out and I was so happy with how this episode turned out thanks to that balance.
