Frank Oz brought that "Show must go on!" Muppety energy to Steve Martin's script about washed up filmmaker Bobby Bowfinger, who cons his way into making a movie with action superstar Kit Ramsey, played by Eddie Murphy. Our September OVER 90 episode comes a little late in the form of 1999's "Bowfinger" directed by Frank Oz and starring Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy, Heather Graham, Christine Baranski, Robert Downey Jr., Terrance Stamp, and a respectfully restrained Jamie Kennedy. The con is on!
After some internet outages, technical issues, and just straight tom foolery, Swayze September finally rolls to a close as we take a look at Swayze in drag! First up, Swayze, Snipes, and Leguizamo get all dressed up to spend time in a small town in TOO WONG FOO, THANKS FOR EVERYTHING, JULIE NEWMAR. Then, Hugo Weaving takes his friends Terrance Stamp and Guy Pierce on a trip across the desert to a drag show in THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT.
"Los Angeles, 1991. They have come to Earth to live among us. They've learned the language, taken jobs, and tried to fit in. But there's something about them we don't know." In this week's episode, we are discussing the sci-fi buddy cop movie 'Alien Nation.' The movie stars James Caan, Mandy Patinkin and Terrance Stamp. Directed by Graham Baker. Frank Oz (What About Bob?, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) directed this satirical showbiz comedy with a truly unique premise: a now desperate movie producer named Bowfinger is positively set on filming a new movie on the fly with a popular movie star named Kit Ramsey....who doesn't know that he's being filmed. :o Bowfinger is played by Steve Martin who also wrote the screenplay and Kit Ramsey is played by Eddie Murphy.....and since they both performed on Saturday Night Live, this was THE first time these comedic titans would join forces on screen. (And unfortunately the last) Beyond that, Bowfinger also recruits several others to film this stealth movie including an very impressionable young actress played by Heather Graham who just came in from the Midwest and a nerdy assistant named Jif who is ALSO played by Eddie Murphy. Of course other complications ensue including Kit's membership in a local cult lead by Terrance Stamp. Throw in some other random stuff including poodles in heels and Laker girls, and.....hilarity ensues!Host: Geoff GershonEdited By Ella GershonProducer: Marlene GershonSend us a Text Message.https://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/
In honor of Pride Month and celebrating this film's upcoming 30th Anniversary, it's time to embark on the exciting adventures of three drag queens travelling across the Australian Outback on a bus which actually shares its title with this movie. :) This Oscar-winning cult hit was directed by Stephen Elliott and stars Terrance Stamp, Guy Pearce, and Hugo Weaving....yes THAT Hugo Weaving just about five years before his big break as Agent Smith in The Matrix! Everyone's glammed up and wearing fantastically elaborate costumes as they give musical performances (mostly lip syncing the hits) to various audiences wherever they stop. And the eventual goal of this mission? Apparently so one of them can reunite with a key member of his family....it's all very heartwarming, so let's hit the road!Host & Editor: Geoff GershonProducer: Marlene Gershon Send us a Text Message.https://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

Rob Eschmann and DC Benney discuss how Rob's new book, "When The Hoods Come Off" , chaotic giveaway in Union Square, DC Benny's new comedy hour on YouTube, and how the use of social media challenges racism and racist narratives with host Marina Franklin. Rob Eschmann Dr. Eschmann is a writer, educator, filmmaker, and scholar from Chicago. He is a proud product of the Chicago Public Schools and received his PhD from the University of Chicago in 2017. He writes on educational inequality, community violence, racism, social media, and youth wellbeing. His research seeks to uncover individual, group, and intuitional-level barriers to racial and economic equity, and he pays special attention to the heroic efforts everyday people make to combat those barriers. For Dr. Eschmann, this work is a part of the freedom struggle. The function of racism is to reproduce racial inequality, but in the 21st Century the devices of racism are often hidden behind color-neutral laws or friendly interactions. Highlighting the mechanisms of racism, therefore, can demonstrate the continuing significance of race, raise consciousness, and promote and strengthen resistance efforts. Dr. Eschmann is an avid reader and re-reader of fantasy fiction who uses his children as a justification for his continued interest in young-adult fiction and regular trips to the comic book store. In terms of creative endeavors, Dr. Eschmann has co-written and directed several short films for the 48 Hour Film Project Film Festival, and has written and workshopped fiction since his days as a graduate student. He is currently in the midst of his first novel project. *Dr. Eschmann's first book, When the Hood Comes Off: Racism and Resistance in the Digital Age, is an engaging and comprehensive exploration of the ways technology and online communication are changing how we experience, understand, and respond to racism, both online and in-person. You can buy it now from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or wherever books are sold. D.C. Benny's story-telling style of comedy has delighted audiences over his thirty-five years as a New York-based performer. His third appearance on NBC's “Showtime At The Apollo” has over eighteen million Youtube views, he has 4 stand up specials including Comedy Central Presents, Dry Bar, was a season finalist on both seasons 2 and 8 of NBC's Last Comic Standing. He's been featured in John Singleton's “Illegal Tender”, "Freedomland" with Samuel Jackson and Julianne Moore, "Love Walked In" with Terrance Stamp, "Where God Left His Shoes" with John Leguizamo, recurred on the soap opera “As The World Turns” and appeared in many national commercials such as the Budweiser "How You Doin'?” campaign. He co-hosted the story-telling podcast, "Tall But True", with Cash Cab's Ben Bailey, was a cast member on ABC"s Supermarket Sweep with Leslie Jones and currently plays "Bart" on Amy Schumer's series Life and Beth on Hulu. His writing has been published in New York Magazine, Mystery Tribune, Heeb Magazine, Narratively, and The New York Observer. He currently lives in Long Island's North Fork, where he teaches comedic storytelling and runs a beach rental business with his wife at www.bungalowouteast.com. Always hosted by Marina Franklin - One Hour Comedy Special: Single Black Female ( Amazon Prime, CW Network), TBS's The Last O.G, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Hysterical on FX, The Movie Trainwreck, Louie Season V, The Jim Gaffigan Show, Conan O'Brien, Stephen Colbert, HBO's Crashing, and The Breaks with Michelle Wolf.

Hey folks, we watched The Limey (1999). It was directed by Steven Soderbergh, and stars, Terrance Stamp, Lesley Anne Warren, Peter Fonda, Luis Guzmán, and Barry Newman. This will be the first part in longer discussion, for reasons that will be explained in this very episode. Part 2 will drop next Thursday. In the meantime enjoy the discussion. Peter Serafinowic(h)z - Jeddy. Rich and his wife have made the ultimate commitment: they've been through their DVD collections and are getting rid of any duplicates. Some lucky audience member is going to win them all! But before that it's time to talk to the star of the Calcium Kid, Peter Serafinowicz. Fans of Star Wars will be creaming out of their arm pits when they hear his tales of working with George Lucas and having to pay to go the premiere. Astonishing stuff. Rich provides an alternate reading of Darth Maul for the next director's cut. There's talk of zombies and Tony Wilson, Terrance Stamp and Will Arnett and lots of inside gossip about working on US and UK TV. And someone is going to win a copy of East is East. Mona May is a costume designer for movies and television who travels the world for her career while her costumes have become iconic. I was fortunate to reach her on a short break between two film projects happening on different continents. While getting her start as a costume designer in the film “Clueless” as her first major project she was able to secure her future work by creating iconic outfits that are still copied two decades later. She has a storied career working with celebrities like Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore, Nicole Kidman, Emma Stone, Jennifer Aniston, Eva Mendez, Nicolas Cage, Eddie Murphy, Demi Moore, Anna Farris, Will Ferrell and many more.It was a great talking about what it takes to make it as a costume designer in the entertainment business and interesting to find out that it's not all glamour and red carpet events. We talked about her mentoring people looking to get in to her field and how many of them find out that it can be more work than glamour. She uses her own experiences to help make sure others don't make the same mistakes she did.Like I said to Mona in the interview…..you know you “made it” when they take your design ideas and turn them in to Halloween costumes. She has definitely “made it” and I can't wait to see her latest work.About Mona MayMona May exploded onto the scene with the release of CLUELESS, a film that raised the status of fashion in film. The New York Times, Vogue Magazine, and Women's Wear Daily proclaimed CLUELESS & "the fashion movie of the year” and introduced a bold new Costume Designer to the world Capturing the rich-girl prep style with plaid skirts, knee-high socks, platform Mary Janes and feather-trim coats, Cher's (Alicia Silverstone) more than 60 costume changes were fresh, new and unusual, and created a vibrant style to emulate for a generation of girls learning how to dress.May's trademark joie de vivre is clearly evident in her work, and it injects bold, sexy confidence into her designs. She is a master at designing costumes that flatter her actors' body types, while simultaneously hitting pitch-perfect visual notes for the character they are portraying. May's dedication to the art of creating characters with fabric, textures, and color goes far beyond simply dressing the actors. It is an art that spans genres, time periods, and even media - ranging from live-action to CGI to classic cel animation - and creating a costume that moves believably from the real world to a virtual world is an intricate process. For STUART LITTLE 2, designing an entire wardrobe for a 4" digital mouse meant working closely with the visual effects team at Sony Imageworks to balance May's creative vision with that of director Rob Minkoff. The process starts with a sketch, before going to a virtual tailor, followed by a texture mapper and finally the lighting designer. Every detail, from the textures and patterns on the fabrics to the scale and placement of trims and buttons, are executed to May's exact specifications. There are times, however, when a director must rely on a designer's ingenuity for a character's technical effects. While filming THE HAUNTED MANSION, Mona created a "glow" that could be photographed in both live-action and CG. She experimented with a paint process using Scotchlite powder applied to fabric, allowing the ghost costumes to glow as if the actors were lit from within, and saving the production from using expensive CG effects. The film also allowed her to demonstrate her exquisite tailoring and eye for detail, evidenced by the extraordinary costumes for stars Eddie Murphy, Terrance Stamp, and Wally Shawn. In the film ENCHANTED, Susan Sarandon's evil Queen Narissa required a technically-challenging costume requiring a seamless transition from 2D-animation (cartoon character) to live-action (human actor) to a computer-generated rendering that morphs into a CGI dragon while retaining remnants of the original costume. For the costume, May designed a reptilian leather corset and skirt with a cape fashioned to look like wings, and during Narissa's dragon metamorphosis, the skirt's layers wrapped around like a tail and the crown transformed into horns.Aside from movie work, May is always inspired to share her passion, originality and technical experience with the future designers at OTIS Parsons, FIDM and Pasadena Art Center, where she is a frequent lecturer.Born in India to European parents, May was raised in Warsaw, and later Berlin. She studied fashion in Europe, New York and Los Angeles, experiencing a global education that gave her the unique point of view she brings to her work.SUBSCRIBEYou can subscribe to The Travel Wins Podcast on Apple Podcasts, SoundCloud, YouTube, iHeart Radio, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Spreaker, Podnews, Castbox, Pocket Casts, Radio Public, and Amazon. The Travel Wins intro song by Allison Johnson and Steve StevensWebsite Design by Stack Host#monamay #costumes #designer

Romantic obsessions in horror movies (or, suspense-thrillers) is the topic of this captivating episode of “Boys and Ghouls”. Listen in, as Kat and Marshall have a heart-to-heart about a few of the best movies to show what can happen when one person in the couple isn’t at a place in their own life to enter into a committed relationship, and the other is a genuinely crazy person with more knives than sense. Together, they explore their feelings about the very creepy “The Collector”, featuring a young Terrance Stamp, and “Play Misty For Me”, Clint Eastwood’s directorial debut. Going further, the duo takes a look at the consequences of 80’s infidelity in “Fatal Attraction”, and the lovesick Gen X psychos of “The Crush” and “Fear”. Then, finally, they explore being clingy in the the early age of the internet, with “Swimfan”. If you have a heart beating in your chest (or, one in a jar on your desk) you’ll swoon for this desirable episode of wooing and wounding. XOXOXOXO
Legends of S.H.I.E.L.D.: An Unofficial Marvel Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Fan Podcast
The @LegendsOfShield (Legends Of S.H.I.E.L.D.) Agents Stargate Pioneer and Lauren have fun with the 2005 Marvel Comic based movie Elektra! This week’s podcast hosts duo will also run down the week in Marvel news, and review down all the awesome Legends Of S.H.I.E.L.D. feedback. First 13 Legends Of S.H.I.E.L.D. podcasts [1:57] Now available again exclusively on the ww.LegendsOfShield.com website for download or streaming. Elektra [2:26] Lauren and Stargate Pioneer don;t cringe as much as they thought they would and actually took this week's Elektra watch to just enjoy an entertaining film. That's right, it is not a bad as Lauren remembers or that Stargate Pioneer thought he was going to think Elektra was. They still have issues with the film, but it is a great Saturday afternoon in the background movie to have playing. It's a good popcorn film that just didn't live up to it's potential. Among the many issue with the film was that Lauren doesn’t get the Jennifer Garner hawtness. She's never really been Stargate Pioneer's favorite either, but he did recognize the hotness on the screen in front of him. However, Lauren did love Goran Visnjic because of ER. Both hosts loved the supporting cast including Hiro Conagonwa, Colin Cunningham, Jason Isaacs and Terrance Stamp. The two fawned over Colin from his apperances in Stargate SG-1 at Maj Davis and his more recent renegade role in Falling Skies. One of Staragte Pioneer's issues was the introduction narration. It was a big disconnect with the Ben Affleck Daredevil film that Jennifer Garner/Elektra started in. Lauren had an issue with Treasure and the mystiscm in the movie in general. Maybe because the two hosts have a spot of OCD themselves, they both took note of Elektra's OCD and wondered why it was in there to begin with. Lauren brought up that it was a connection with Abby which is as good of a reason as any but it really brought nothing forward in the film other than perhaps an intruder tip off for Elektra. Both hosts are in grave awe over Elektra's one handed pullups and it reminded StarPi of either Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2 or Stephen Amell's workout scene in Arrow. StarPi brings up in jest a shirtless Jennifer Garner scene and Lauren shocks him by telling him it might actually have been a possibility early on in the film creation for a Rated R cut. Neither hosts were very impressed with the colored gasses when someone died. They can only reference them as fart villains as seen this television season in Gotham and Flash. Both hosts noticed the nice compound bow but they are both disappointed that they only get to see it once n the movie. Lauren brings up that sai weapons are originally peasant defensive hidden weapon and not originally offensive weapons. So Elektra is WRONG. One of the best part of the movie was the CGI'ed tattoo animals. Great CGI. Bright colors. Pretty cool. In true prepper fashion StarPi is now hard at work digging an escape tunnel to the field behind the house. Cause every house should have one. It's been said before but ninjas have terrible costumes. Another great part of this movie was the action scenes. The action was great with stunt people, wire foo and bullet time. Don;t forget the throwing stars as climbing footholds. Being the dad of a kid superhero sucks. The only thing poor Goran has going for him is superpower puppy eyes and his ability to get Elektra. Which brings up a question: What exactly is the mourning period in comic book world? Lauren's definitive answer? 3 issues. Every body has a type. Elektra’s type is blind guys. Is Elektra good or bad? Who knows? But she does look good sporting the braid of justice. So it's no Agent May - Agent 33 fight, but the Abby – Elektra fight is good despite obvious stunt personnel. The two hosts think about what the ability to have mind to mind conference call in dreams would do for you at work. One word: weird. Elektra’s outfit looks gooood. It's not functional. It's not realistic. It's just good. And finally what's with with room of flying Casper sheets? EXTRAS: Lauren finished Dragon Age Inquisition. Lauren always wanted to live in a hole in the ground. While StarPi has indeed visited the Ingalls family dugout site in Walnut Grove, Minnesota. From the wonderful mind of Lauren she reaches in for a recommendation for: From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. In case of emergency Lauren's bug-out plan was always to live in a hole and then move into the Mall. Lauren brings up the crazy Steve Jackson card game: Ninja Burger. Lauren brings up her Star Wars nightmare with a butter dish with googly eyes. Everyone please be nice to Lauren until Star Wars VII comes out later this year. On this episode of the Cult Film Club hosts Paxton, Jaime and Shawn strap on their colts, get deputized to avenge the death of their friend, and experiment with peyote as they discuss the 1988 brat pack western Young Guns! Starring Emilo Estevez, Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips, Dermot Mulroney, Casey Siemaszko, Jack Palance, and Terrance Stamp, the film surrounds the real life legend of Billy the Kid during his time in the Lincoln County War. Mixing fact, fiction, legend and the brat pack is a mighty fine way to make one hell of an interesting movie. This episode is part one of a two part discussion of the Young Guns series.

RHLSTP #12: Peter Serafinowic(h)z - Jeddy. C'mon it doesn't get better than that.SUPPORT THE SHOW!Check out our website and become a badger and see extra content http://rhlstp.co.ukSee details of the RHLSTP tour dates http://richardherring.com/gigsBuy DVDs and Books at http://gofasterstripe.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Daredevil made money but when Affleck became toxic at the box office, Fox studios proceeded with a spin-off rather than a sequel, and despite being dead at the end of Daredevil Jennifer Garner was back reprising her role of Elektra. Donning the iconic red silk outfit for this outing, Elektra is an assassin who finds her conscience and must go up against the evil ninjas of The Hand to protect The Treasure. Is Elektra a treasure to movie fans, or should this franchise have not been resurrected? Listen to Jakob, Stuart, and Arnie to find out!

After the success of X-Men, 20th Century Fox quickly green-lit another Marvel superhero film--Daredevil! With Ben Affleck still riding his career high after The Sum of All Fears cast as the blind lawyer cum vigilante Daredevil seemed poised to swing in right behind the success of 2002's Spider-Man. Aided by a strong supporting cast including Colin Farrell, Jennifer Garner, Michael Clarke Duncan, and a pre-Iron Man Jon Faverau, this film broke box office records its opening weekend, but in the court of public opinion this film has been forgotten. Now, continuing their look back at every movie based on Marvel's superhero comics, Arnie, Jakob, and Stuart take the stand and bear witness to Daredevil. Was justice served? Listen to this podcast to find out the verdict!

JOR-EL GIVES LOIS SUPER POWERS; KARA RETURNS - Clark (Tom Welling) takes Lois (Erica Durance) to the Fortress to get Jor-El's (voiced by Terrance Stamp) blessing for their marriage. Jor-El bestows a unique wedding gift on the couple – he gives Lois Clark's super powers so she can see what it's like to be him for a day. Unfortunately, the Toyman (guest star Chris Gautheir) has returned to Metropolis, so Lois must go up against the notorious villain instead of Clark. Meanwhile, Oliver (Justin Hartley) searches for the Bow of Orion, which he believes will remove the Omega symbol from his skull, and runs into Kara (guest star Laura Vandervoort), who is also on a mission to stop Darkseid.
