On the 59th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & special guest, Steve Wright from the Podder Than Hell Podcast, review the 1985 album from Bon Jovi, "7800 Fahrenheit." 7800 Fahrenheit is Bon Jovi's second studio album. The young band continued the same basic formula as their debut album. The band was led by charismatic frontman Jon Bon Jovi who was the primary songwriter. Richie Sambora the guitarist also helped write songs with Jon and you could see the beginnings of this legendary duo. David Bryan on keyboards also helped with a few songs. Alec John Such and Tico Torres rounded out the rhythm section. The album was produced by Lance Quinn. The album continued where their debut left off, with some rockers, mid-tempo songs and a ballad. Jon continued his hard working ways to craft an album in between consecutive non stop tours. 7800 Fahrenheit is a polarizing album often panned by Jon, but loved by the fans, especially songs like, In And Out Of Love & Tokyo Road. The album did go platinum and features 3 MTV Videos. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. This was Zeus' pick.

They went on to sell millions of records and tour with Guns ‘N Roses, Motley Crue, Kiss and others. Bon Jovi is an American rock band formed in 1983 in Sayreville, New Jersey. It consists of singer Jon Bon Jovi, keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres, guitarist Phil X, and bassist Hugh McDonald. Original bassist Alec John Such quit the band in 1994, and longtime guitarist and co-songwriter Richie Sambora left in 2013. The band have been credited with "[bridging] the gap between heavy metal and pop with style and ease".In 1984 and 1985, Bon Jovi released their first two albums and their debut single "Runaway" managed to crack the Top 40. In 1986, the band achieved widespread success and global recognition with their third album, Slippery When Wet, which sold over 20 million copies and included three Top 10 singles, two of which reached No. 1 ("You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' on a Prayer") Their fourth album, New Jersey (1988), was also very successful, selling over 10 million copies and featuring five Top 10 singles (a record for a glam metal album), two of which reached No. 1 ("Bad Medicine" and "I'll Be There for You"). After the band toured and recorded extensively during the late 1980s, culminating in the 1988–1990 New Jersey Tour, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora released successful solo albums in 1990 and 1991, respectively. In 1992, the band returned with the double-platinum Keep the Faith. This was followed by their biggest-selling and longest-charting single "Always" (1994) and the album These Days (1995), which proved to be a bigger success in Europe than in the United States, producing four Top Ten singles in the United Kingdom. Following a second hiatus, their 2000 album Crush, particularly the lead single, "It's My Life", successfully introduced the band to a younger audience, and the band considered this their comeback album. The band followed up with Bounce in 2002. The platinum albums Have a Nice Day (2005) and Lost Highway (2007) saw the band incorporate elements of country music into some of the songs, including the 2006 single "Who Says You Can't Go Home", which won the band a Grammy Award and became the first single by a rock band to reach No. 1 on the country charts. The Circle (2009) marked a return to the band's rock sound. The band also enjoyed great success touring, with both the 2005–2006 Have a Nice Day Tour and 2007–2008 Lost Highway Tour ranking among the Top 20 highest-grossing concert tours of the 2000s. After recording and releasing Because We Can in 2013, lead guitarist Richie Sambora left the band just before an April concert during the supporting tour to spend more time with his family. The band released their first studio album without Sambora, Burning Bridges, in 2015 and the follow-up album This House Is Not For Sale in 2016, the tour for which encompassed 2017–2019. Their most recent album 2020 (2020) was re-worked to include songs inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic and George Floyd protests; its supporting tour was delayed to 2022.Bon Jovi has released 16 studio albums, five compilations and three live albums. They have sold more than 130 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling American rock bands, and performed more than 2,700 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans. Bon Jovi was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006, and into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018. The band received the Award of Merit at the American Music Awards in 2004, and Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora were inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009.
This is the album that turned heavy metal into pop, or started the hair metal genre of the 80's. Slippery When Wet was the third studio album by Bon Jovi, and would be their best selling album to date. The band was David Bryan on keyboards, Tico Torres on percussion, Alec John Such on bass, Richie Sambora on guitar, and Jon Bon Jovi on lead vocals and rhythm guitar.Bon Jovi deliberately targeted a mainstream audience with this album. They wrote 30 songs and auditioned them to teenagers in New York and New Jersey. The album's songs were then ordered based on the opinions of this teenaged focus group. The band collaborated with Desmond Child, a hall of fame songwriter who wrote songs like "I Was Made for Loving You" by Kiss and Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself for Loving You." Slippery When Wet would be the top selling album of 1987, and would go 12x platinum. It would also make Bon Jovi the first glam rock band to have two number 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 with "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' on a Prayer."Bon Jovi - the band, and Jon Bon Jovi as a soloist - would never leave the rock pantheon A-list after this album. Raise Your HandsJon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora wrote this one. It was the B-side to "You Give Love a Bad Name," and was not released as a single. If it sounds familiar you might be remembering it from a scene in the Mel Brooks film "Spaceballs."You Give Love a Bad NameThis is the first single from the album and would hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 1986. Child, Bon Jovi, and Sambora re-wrote the song which started as a song for Bonnie Tyler called "If You Were a Woman (And I was a Man)" The video was directed by Wayne Isham, who was also directing videos for Motley Crue at the same time. Motley Crue felt betrayed that Wayne would direct a Bon Jovi video, since they were competing with each other at the time.I'd Die for YouThis song is a deeper cut with keyboard work reminiscent of the song "Runaway" from their first album. Wanted Dead of AliveThis track hit number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, and uses old west imagery to describe the lonely life of a rock star. Bon Jovi and Sambora would perform an acoustic version of this tune on the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards, and would inspire the network to create their "MTV Unplugged" series. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Glory of Love by Peter Cetera (from the motion picture The Karate Kid part II)This solo song from Chicago front man Peter Cetera was on the charts after being featured in the 1986 summer sequel starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita. STAFF PICKS:Wild, Wild Life by Talking HeadsWayne leads off the staff picks with a critically acclaimed song from the Talking Heads album, "True Stories." The song was featured in the film "True Stories," a satirical comedy directed by David Byrne, front man for the Talking Heads. This was the third and last top 40 hit the band would create.Higher Love by Steve WinwoodBrian's staff pick is Winwood's first number 1 hit in the United States. Will Jennings wrote the lyrics, inspired by his experience with church in the deep South. Chaka Khan provides the backing vocals, enhancing the gospel feel of the song - a modern day hymn.Sweet Freedom by Michael McDonaldRob's staff pick was featured in the buddy cop movie "Running Scared," starring Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines. This was the last top 10 hit to date for McDonald. In addition to his solo work, McDonald has worked with many musicians including Steely Dan, Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross, and most famously as lead vocalist for the Doobie Brothers, with which he is touring today.Venus by BananaramaBruce finishes the staff picks with a number 7 hit from an English pop group formed by the trio of Sara Dallin, Siobhan Fahey, and Keren Woodward. The original was released in 1969 by Netherlands group Shocking Blue. Bananarama began covering this song when they first formed in 1980, but didn't release the single until they had recorded original songs so they would be taken seriously as musicians. COMEDY TRACK:Big Fat Blonde by The RainmakersThe Rainmakers released their debut album in 1986. One of their fans was horror novelist Stephen King, who quoted the band's lyrics in some of his novels.

In an episode that focuses on the art of songwriting, John and Tom are joined by three decorated song writers whose paths crossed in various interesting ways, starting in the yacht rock era: Franke Previte, John DeNicola and Stacy Widelitz. From the founding of Franke and the Knockouts, through to a serendipity of their collaborations on the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, to what's happening now, we cover three of the most interesting and accomplished songwriters of rock and roll. Did You Know: Franke and the Knockouts' “Sweetheart” cracked the Top 10? Franke and the Knockouts had three “yacht-rock-era” records, including work that featured Jeff Porcaro and produced by legendary producer Bill Schnee (Steely Dan, among others)? A chance encounter with Patrick Swayze led to a 55-million-copy selling record? John's chance collaboration with Franke would create a number-one hit sung by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes? Franke and the Knockouts originally wrote and recorded “Hungry Eyes” and “Time of My Life” for an album that never got released? Before joining Bon Jovi, Tico Torres joined Franke and the Knockouts? Welcome to this week's Modern Drummer podcast with Billy Amendola, David Frangioni, and the multi-platinum-sold-out arena-selling drummer of supergroup Bon Jovi, “The Hitman” himself Tico Torres. Since the mid-eighties, Tico and the band have released over thirty albums and sold over one hundred million records worldwide. Before joining BJ, Tico was touring and playing with the chart-topping band Franke & The Knockouts. He is on the board for the Amazon Conservation Team and enjoys his other life-long passion, Art. Never known as a flashy-crazy-chops-drummer, Torres is well-known for his solid-steady rock groove on all the band's hits. An avid Jazz lover, Torres says, “Your playing is molded by who you listen to and who you hang out with. Elvin Jones and Joe Morello would tell me, ‘You’re not the most technical guy, but you have feel’ Always play for the song and follow the lead vocals.” Let’s listen to this week's MD podcast. Enjoy!

Kari connects Franke to his mom as they talk about writing the hit "Hungry Eyes" for "Dirty Dancing," which he also wrote "(I've Had) The Time of My Life," garnering an Academy Award. She also connects Pamela to her mom, as they talk about how one song created a spin-off from "Happy Days," and caused 17-year olds to get married in "Joanie Loves Chachi." They also talk about "One World," the song they wrote for "Earth, Wind and Fire" in 1989, which was recently re-recorded by stars like Patti LaBelle, Christine Ebersole and Tico Torres, as Kari notes hearing it underscored the importance of the environment. They also discuss feeling a soul connection with a person, how adoptive parents are often the true soul connection, while sometimes family members who share the same DNA don't feel that soul connection, past lives and knowing when you're on the life path you're meant to be on, what they do when they feel blue to pick themselves up and whether they hear random original tunes in their heads as songwriters.

Here's your daily look at 'Today in Rock History' featuring: John Cougar Mellencamp is 67. Thom Yorke is 50. He's the genius behind Radiohead. Tico Torres from Bon Jovi is 65. Today in 1982, Led Zeppelin guitarist, Jimmy Page, received a 12-month conditional discharge after being found guilty of cocaine possession. He also had another discharge, but that was taken care of with a little penicillin, and by not hanging around the same girls as Robert Plant anymore. In 1995, Tone Loc was arrested in Los Angeles for allegedly taking $80 from a pizza parlor. Loc pleaded no contest. Pizza Hut said Mr. Loc was no longer welcome in their restaurants...that's cold. Not funky cold medina cold, but still.

«She Don't Know Me» fue su segundo sencillo.
