Doug Sakmann was a truly special individual – a valued member of the Troma Team, friend, filmmaker, and shit disturber. Doug first joined Troma as a production assistant on Citizen Toxie, working his way up to an associate producer, and then going on to produce the Troma's Edge TV series while joining the company full-time as the Head of Production, a position he held until 2002 when he left to form his own production company Backseat Conceptions, which created the Punk Rock Holocaust film series in association with the Vans Warped Tour. Doug also produced and starred in the Kabukiman's Cocktail Corner web series, and he became synonymous with Sgt. Kabukiman, having portrayed the character far more times than anyone else. In addition, Doug was also a journeyman special effects artist, having created FX for everything from music videos to commercials to video games to TV shows and feature films, including the Return to Nuke 'Em High films and Shakespeare's Shitstorm.Doug tragically passed away on June 27, 2024 at just 43 years old. In July of 2023, we sat down with Doug for over two hours to talk about his time in Tromaville. The original intent was to use clips of the interview across various topics that we're covering on the show. In light of what's happened we've decided to air the full interview (mostly) uncut along with remembrances from some of his friends and colleagues. Please enjoy our look back with Doug on a very special episode of Talkin' Troma.Hosted by Zack Beins. Produced by Chris Lanphear for Loudspeaker Studios. Throughout his teen years, he appeared in Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs and James Lemmo's Heart starring Brad Davis. Mr. Hush enjoyed a limited, US national theatrical run in NYC, LA, San Francisco, Atlanta, Dallas, northeastern PA, and Pittsburgh. It was released nationally on DVD and Blu-ray on August 7, 2012 and spent 6 weeks on Redbox's genre top 10 list. Happy Monday Goons! Our next TromApril film this month is Ade's pick, Tromeo & Juliet. Loosely based on the William Shakespeare source material, Romeo & Juliet, and still follows star-crossed lovers from feuding families. This particular script was penned by none other than James Gunn, who you know from his brilliance of Marvel films like Guardians of the Galaxy, DC films like The Suicide Squad, and horror and family flicks like Slither & Scooby Doo, respectively. The film stars Will Keenan as Tromeo and not-Pam-from-The-Office, Jane Jenson as Juliet. Other faces you may recognize are Debbie Rachon as a variation of the nursemaid and Tiffany Shepis, as well as James' brother Sean Gunn as Sammy Capulet, aka Kirk of Gilmore Girls and a plethora of other characters in Gunn's films. Also, we do have cameos from Motorhead's Lemmy Kilmister as the narrator and Lloyd Kaufman throws himself in, as well. Obviously this is a stark contrast to Will Shakespeare's source material, but it also encapsulates the 90s in all its seedy, grungy glory. Find out what Ade loved about this and what Jake and Mikey did not. Be sure to check out the entire episode through the end to hear what our buds, Micah and Greg of Damn! That's Scary, had to say about the film. Yes, they've teamed up with us once again to give their own two-cents on Troma! I had the pleasure of sitting down with one of my favorite guests of all-time, Seth Landau. We discuss his piece Bryan Loves You and a plethora of other things.Bryan Loves You - In the early 90's, a 32-year-old psychotherapist began to suspect that his small Arizona community was being taken over by a homicidal religous cult known as "Followers of Bryan." What starts as innocent inquisitiveness quickly turns into a violent and harrowing fight for his freedom...and survival. Jonathan's entire ordeal was captured on video cameras and security tapes, and this is the footage that was recovered.Starring Seth Landau, Tony Todd, George Wendt, Daniel Roebuck, Candy Stanton, Tom Noga, Tiffany Shepis, Lloyd Kaufman, Brinke Stevens, Bobby SlatonTori King, and more.Music by P. On November 14, 2019 a student at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, CA brought a .45 caliber semiautomatic handgun to school with him. The boy shot 5 of his schoolmates before shooting himself in the head. Mia Page-Tretta (daughter of actress Tiffany Shepis) was one of the students that was shot. While she fortunately recovered, two of Mia's classmates (one of whom was her best friend) did not survive. The weapon used was an unregistered "ghost gun" that had been assembled from a kit. Even with the gun jamming up after the first shot and the shooter needing to stop and clear it, the entire shooting lasted only sixteen seconds yet still took 3 lives and injured 3 others. In the second of THE MOVIE CRYPT's new series of roundtable discussions Adam, Joe, and Arwen are joined by their friends Tiffany Shepis (VICTOR CROWLEY, TROMEO AND JULIET) and her daughter Mia Page-Tretta for an honest conversation about the growing gun violence epidemic in America. From Mia's harrowing firsthand account of surviving such a terrible tragedy… to what the aftermath has been like for Mia as a survivor of a school shooting and for Tiffany as a mother who only wants to prevent such a terrible tragedy from happening to anyone else… to the different ways we all process grief and how we handle those in our lives who are trying to recover from trauma… to simple things we can all do to try and prevent such horrifying and senseless events from continuing to happen on such a regular basis… we hope that you continue this conversation with those in your own life and within your own community. #SaugusStrong Please visit www.EveryTown.org for more information on how you can help prevent gun violence. It's a subhumanoid meltdown! This week, Peaches and Michael rally for “reel” independence as they celebrate Troma Entertainment, the legendary studio that has built a bonafide cult thanks to decades of subversive cinema. In addition to discussing such Tromatic films as THE TOXIC AVENGER and CLASS OF NUKE ‘EM HIGH, our hosts explore the notion of what it means to curate a film landscape that constantly bucks the mainstream. Joining the discussion is the legendary co-founder of Troma himself, Lloyd Kaufman, who shares a bit of his history going against the grain. Then, genre icon Tiffany Shepis stops by to discuss her TROMEO beginnings and what lessons from those punk rock cinema days she still carries with her. From Toxie to filmmaking moxy, this episode has it all! Go!
Its "Gun Violence Awareness Week" and Dr. Gator and Cerina Vincent sit down with actress, mother, and gun safety advocate, Tiffany Shepis, who's daughter Mia Tretta was shot in the Saugus High School shooting in Santa Clarita, CA. Tiffany shares her family's very personal journey through this unbelievably traumatic event, and gives tips on how we can all do better to keep our kids safer. They chat about the Be S.M.A.R.T program, emotional support animals for healing, and their new foundation, "From Trauma to Triumph" to help other kids and teens who've been through traumatic events. These conversations are not comfortable to have, but if we are going to come together to raise the bar on our parenting, so we can raise our amazing kids, we have to have these conversation. All of our kids are all of our kids and we have to do better to protect them.
We had the amazing opportunity to sit down with one of the genre's biggest bad asses in Tiffany Shepis and discussed her career from her stint in Women of Wrestling, Victor Crowley and her podcast with Felissa Rose and Kane Hodder, Casualty Fridays. Alright Moongoons, I got nothing sassy or witty to say right now. This week's listeners suggested movie "Pickaxe", is just another crappy run of the mill indie slasher. It has all of the usual suspects terrible acting, horrible writing, lack of explanation on what's going on, and unimaginative kills. But it does have a plethora of cubby to mediocre looking naked chicks and stars Tiffany Shepis, who we swear is just drunk the whole time phoning it in.
In this episode I talk about a couple of movies that in my opinion are so bad you should avoid them . Tonight I get to talk with one of my absolute favorite, director BRETT MULLEN!!! Not only is he a bad ass and talented director but he is also a writer, producer, cinematographer, editor , and musician. On this episode we dive into some of his many projects including Belladonna, Bombshell Bloodbath (aka Dead Inferno), Bloody Ballet (aka Fantasma), and his upcoming film Killer Babes and the Frightening Film Fiasco which has some of our favorite horror babes such as Linnea Quigley, Tiffany Shepis, Jenna Kanell, and Lisa Wilcox. Rumor has it Brett announced for the very first time ever an exciting new project he will be working on in the very near future!!! Talking with him is always so much fun and I can't wait to do it again.

THEY'REEE BACKKKK! Kane Hodder, Felissa Rose, and Tiffany Shepis are back for Season 2 of CASUALTY FRIDAY! Buckle up, because this season the gang has new temps in the workplace like horror favorites Danielle Harris, Bill Moseley, Adam Green, and Christine Elise. Chaos ensues! Season 2 kicks off on Friday, December 13th with new episodes dropping every other Friday.
We are back and ready for winter this week with Ryan Schifrin’s Rear Window meets Sasquatch/Bigfoot film ABOMINABLE! This movie is actually pretty good! It stars Matt McCoy as Preston Rogers a recently widowed man who returns to his home only to have to do battle with the Bigfoot and try and save the renters next door and features a tonne of genre actors like Jeffrey Combs, Tiffany Shepis, Dee Wallace and Lance Henriksen!
Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 63 of your guide to the truly astonishing world of softcore films, and the world’s number one podcast on that subject! We’ve reached the final installment of the Embrace the Darkness trilogy already. Part II was one of the best movies we’ve done in a long time (according to everyone other than Jimmy Ether, at least). Will Part III get the same kind of amazing reception? We’ve got two guests - Lee Russell from They Must Be Destroyed On Sight! podcast and film composer/musician Timothy Fife - to help us work that out. It goes in some weird directions, let’s just say that. This time, Jennifer has to decide between a romance with a mortal journalist, and one with a 200 year old vampire named Victor who wants to make her the Queen of the Vampires. What will she choose? The answer will - quite honestly - surprise you. That said, the big surprise is also the most disappointing thing about the film - fan favourite vampiric weirdo Jack is written out of the film very early on. RIP Jack. Your bizarre line delivery will never be forgotten. Out-acting the heck out of practically everyone in this movie is the always delightful Tiffany Shepis. Naturally, we focus on her life and career in our Spotlight, which is handy because it turns out Lee is a SUPER FAN. She’s well on her way to 150 credits on IMDB, and she’s only just hit 40. And it’s worth noting that at least a handful of those credits are with friend of the show Rolfe Kanefsky! Hey, why not call us on our hotline? (724) 246-4669! Check out the other Compañeros Radio Network shows: Movie Melt Songs on Trial
On this episode of CASUALTY FRIDAY, hosts Tiffany Shepis, Felissa Rose, and Kane Hodder open up about their experiences with typecasting, breaking away from horror stereotypes, what the "scream queen" title really means to them, and much more!
On this episode of CASUALTY FRIDAY, horror favorites Kane Hodder, Felissa Rose and Tiffany Shepis discuss their experiences with special effects and stunts on set. You’ll hear stories of the many trials and tribulations of working with SFX, like the time Tiffany accidentally put a stiletto heel through a fellow actor's lip, how a lifecast broke Felissa’s nose, and when Kane was stunt coordinator on WHO’S THE BOSS?and so many more!
On this episode of CASUALTY FRIDAY, horror favorites Tiffany Shepis, Kane Hodder and Felissa Rose discuss the convention circuit. On any given weekend, you can catch at least one of them at a con and our hosts have A LOT to say about them: their first convention experiences, fans turning into friends, which horror celebrity is a dick at cons, stories about fan they’ve never told before, Madonna (?!) and so much more!
CASUALTY FRIDAY has arrived! In this first episode of CASUALTY FRIDAY, hosts Tiffany Shepis, Felissa Rose and Kane Hodder discuss how they got their start in the horror genre. Kane remembers being announced as Jason Voorhees for the first time, while at a FANGORIA Weekend of Horrors by the late, great John Buechler. Tiffany recalls how she cut school and lied (twice!) about her age to get the role of Peter in TROMEO AND JULIET. And Felissa recounts her mom’s reaction to THAT scene in SLEEPAWAY CAMP (and so much more)! In addition to discussing the beginning of their careers, the hosts talk about working on VICTOR CROWLEY together, they answer fans' burning questions, and (spoiler alert) SOMEONE gets a chainsaw to the head!
Thank God (or Satan!), it's CASUALTY FRIDAY! CASUALTY FRIDAY is the newest addition to the FANGORIA Podcast Network hosted by horror favorites Tiffany Shepis, Felissa Rose and Kane Hodder. Tiffany, of course, you know from Troma classics like Tromeo and Juliet. Felissa made her big screen debut as Angela in Sleepaway Camp. And Kane Hodder, well, you know him: Jason Voorhees, Victor Crowley and one of the greatest guys in the horror community. So, how did we get three horror favorites to do a podcast together? We locked them in the Fango Vault for 48 hours and put microphones in front of them! And, after we let them out, we found that what was recorded will go down in horror history. Tiffany, Felissa and Kane shared stories that they have NEVER told anyone before. Over the next eight episodes (exclusively on the FANGORIA Podcast Network), you’ll find that what they shared about their lives working in the horror genre is at times hilarious, raw, shocking … and some stories may even bring a tear to your eye. Here’s a small taste of what’s to come on CASUALTY FRIDAY!

Welcome the newest episode of Dark Discussions, your place for the discussion of horror film, fiction, and all that’s fantastic. Once more Dark Discussions heads to HorrorRealm in Pennsylvania. That's right, the state known for Ben Franklin, the Liberty Bell, the top producer of both American chocolate and NFL Hall of Fame quarterbacks, and being the land of the Quakers, Amish, and Mennonites, Pennsylvania is also the home of the modern day zombie, specifically the city of Pittsburgh. Actors, crew, and writers for the George A. Romero zombie films got their start there and since 1968 a large community of fans and filmmakers have made it the zombie capital of the world. Each September, the HorrorRealm convention comes to Pittsburgh where fans can meet both new and old favorites. This past year included Sid Haig, Ken Foree, Doug Bradley, Tiffany Shepis, among others. In September in 2012, co-host Mike headed to the city and was able to attend. This first part of a two part episode is his Friday night adventures and interviews. Those interviewed include the owners of the all zombie store House of the Dead, actor George Kosana who played the marshall in the original Night of the Living Dead, Mark Tierno of Day of the Dead fame, film directors George Balsamo who directed I Spill Your Guts and Steve Rudzinski who directed Everyone Must Die, horror genre artist Steven Bejma, Michael Christopher who played the Hare Krishna zombie in the original Dawn of the Dead, and actor Camden Toy famous for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Get ready to hear a great episode by co-host Mike and look forward to Part 2 which has some big interviews of some of horror's most famous stars and starlets. Welcome to Dark Discussions podcast. Your place for the discussion of horror film, fiction, and all that's fantastic. Two files, one episode. No kidding, you read that correctly. Dark Discussions presents to you a two part episode of 2011’s Horror Realm Convention, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s great horror symposium. Now in existence for three years, Horror Realm revels in the fact that it resides in the city of the living dead. That’s right, George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead as well as Dawn of the Dead not only take place in the suburbs of the city, but George A. Romero and the majority of the cast and crew are all natives to Pittsburgh and its surrounding areas. Though the Pittsburgh Pirates have been a member of the living dead for many years, just like the Steelers, zombies are alive and well. Dark Discussions presents to our listeners interviews and more interviews. Mike drives the four to six hours, scavenging for gas, food, and water while avoiding the zombie apocalypse to get to downtown Pittsburgh. With a host of horror names like Jack Ketchum, Bill Moseley, Ken Foree, Tiffany Shepis, Kim Paffenroth, Linnea Quigley, among others, Horror Realm offered multiple venders, authors, and film producers for the fans to meet and talk with. Rather than go into details of who Mike spoke with, simply go to www.darkdiscussions.com to link to their sites. Now come inside and listen to the two part podcast if you dare.
