That train keeps chugging and by pure accidental bliss, we have another film up here with some stark similarities! Would I go on to say this film is "controversial"? Probably. We have some issues with it. As you'll gather, we don't talk about the film much but rather the way the film was made. There's some questionable behavior happening here, and we're not a podcast to let that slide. The two leads however, Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos are exceptional. Honestly, they knock this film out of the park with the rather mediocre material they are given. It's a disappointing shame as this was adapted from the equally exceptional graphic novel by Jul Maroh. This is mostly Ryan's opinion here, Laura thinks the film is pretty good despite our universal disapproval of the off-camera shenanigans. It's just the Director who needs to take a little look in the mirror honestly if any of these allegations are true. Let's hope not dude, because that's kinda messed up!

It's the week of Valentine's Day and we're old romantics here at Creaky Chair, so we decided to spend our 69th episode discussing some of our very favourite romance movies. Bill chooses the Rob Reiner/Nora Ephron rom-com classic 'When Harry Met Sally', the decidedly steamy 'The Big Easy' by Jim McBride, and guilty pleasure 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. Sam opts for another Nora Ephron/Meg Ryan rom-com, 'Sleepless in Seattle', the chaste British masterpiece from David Lean 'Brief Encounter', Céline Sciamma's French historical romance 'Portrait of a Lady on Fire', and 'A Cinderella Story' starring Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray. Michael talks about the minimalist romance of 'Before Sunrise' starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, the heartbreakingly real French film 'Blue is the Warmest Colour', the Bill Forsyth coming-of-age story 'Gregory's Girl', and the bizarre dark comedy 'Harold and Maude'. In our Make Believe Moviehouse segment we talk to David Jenkins, editor of the wonderful film magazine Little White Lies.

Things got a bit heated this week as the team watched Cannes Palme d'Or winner, the THREE HOUR classic/worst film ever, Blue Is The Warmest Colour. Come and listen as Alice she-hulks out about how much she hates it, Holly defends long naturalistic French films, and Georgia admirably acts as the voice of moderation. The team get into the director's general shittiness, the differences between the film and the original comic, and what this film is really about. Also, yes, those very VERY long sex scenes.CN: Swearing, spoilers (film and book), discussions of a sexual nature, Alice's pure rage.

Below Her Mouth is a controversial movie in the queer community. Some hate it, some love it, and some hate to love it. On this episode, we watch the film together LIVE and then talk about it. We dive into the INTENSE sex scenes (they don't hold *anything* back in this movie) and the chemistry between the lead actors, Erika Linder and Natalie Krill. Pers explains why she thinks the lesbian sex in this movie is an accurate depiction, unlike other queer movies in the past (a la Blue is the Warmest Colour). We explore why this movie is such a hot topic in the lesbian community and how we desperately need more queer relationships represented on film. Plus, how Sar and Pers felt watching what is essentially soft core porn together (lol). What did you think of Below Her Mouth? More importantly, what queer stories do YOU want to see on film? Nat and Alli talk 2013 festival darling Blue Is the Warmest Colour, directed by Abdellatif Kechiche and starring Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux as lovers Adèle and Emma. The film was controversial on release for its explicit sex scenes, both due to the usual moral panic and because many Queer viewers found the film's portrayal of Lesbian sex absolutely ridiculous. The controversy was compounded by Exarchopoulos and Seydoux's accounts of Kechiche's abusive behavior on set. Is it possible to view such a talked-about movie in isolation? Can we still find artistic merit knowing how the artists were treated on set? What happens when a movie's director is actively working against the cast? "Objective: I don't like the word!" André chats with Romanian pravda-vocateur Radu Jude whose film Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn hits Australian cinemas November 25. In this funny and nervous Zoom ramble, the two discuss BLBOLP, which follows a Romanian school teacher whose sex tape is leaked. Radu and André cover male nudity in film, being a teenager at the cinemathèque, queer liberation, the need to work out before a shoot, and Radu's motivation behind filmmaking. Surprisingly, Soda Jerk comes up in the chat. EDIT/CW: Contrapoints is not 'fully' a PHD student. André also reveals an appreciation for problematic film Blue is The Warmest Colour. People don't come much more chic or more soothing (it's the French accent isn't it?!) than this week's guest on Reign with Josh Smith, it's the Bond Girl herself, Léa Seydoux! I am BEY-BOND excited for the release of the latest James Bond film 'No Time To Die', so it was epic to talk to the ONLY Bond Girl in history to return to the film franchise, after starring in the last movie, Spectre. We got into how Léa broke down the outdated ‘Bond Girl' stereotypes with her character, Madeleine Swann and why she refuses to ‘play the game' of sexualising herself or her characters anymore - yas queen! Léa also spoke about how Phoebe Waller Bridge joining the writing team brought Bond into a post Me-Too era, how she was in a very ‘vulnerable' place whilst filming, and how taking on such a physical role made her reflect on her body image. Elsewhere in the episode Léa opens up about her mental health and how Imposter Syndrome affects her - it's pretty reassuring that even a Bond Girl feels like an imposter sometimes, right? I can totally relate to Léa's words. Léa also reflects back on her career and respecting her inner voice. You might remember Lea's career-changing role in the queer coming-of-age movie, 'Blue is The Warmest Colour', where she made history at the Cannes Film Festival winning the top prize, the Palme d'Or as the first actor to do so! And off screen, as the Time's Up movement was born, Léa talked about her own experiences of sexual harassment in a very powerful article in The Guardian. This is an actress who is just as powerful off-screen as she is on-screen, and is an important role model for making sure YOUR voice is always valued. You will next see Léa in the new Wes Anderson movie, The French Dispatch starring alongside Timothée Chalamet, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton and given that stunning cast list I couldn't resist getting a little tea on that movie, too! I really hope you continue to listen and find the power to Reign in your own lives, too. Until next time, WEAR THOSE CROWNS WITH PRIDE and get in touch (follow me across social media @joshsmithhosts), I love hearing from you. Love, Josh xxxP.S I am so proud that this episode of Reign with Josh Smith is brought to you thanks to my friends at Pandora because their new collection, Pandora Me, is all about embracing who you are and celebrating self expression - just like this very podcast! It’s Episode 126. Rosie Wilby (The Breakup Monologues) and Viv Groskop (How to Own a Room) join Flixwatcher to review Rosie’s choice, Blue is the Warmest Colour. Blue is the Warmest Colour is a 2013 French language film starring Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos. Based on a graphic novel by Julie Maroh and directed by Abdellatif Kechiche also won the Palme d'Or with both actresses given the award too. The film follows Adèle from the end of her school days as a 15 year old through her (passionate sexual) relationship with Emma (with the blue hair) and the period that follows their breakup. Famous for its lengthy lesbian sex scenes and later allegations regarding Kechiche’s behaviour and conditions while filming, it is fair to say Blue is the Warmest Colour invites mixed reactions. Scores [supsystic-tables id=131] The reactions from Flixwatcher and guests were equally as mixed. With a run time of three hours Blue is the Warmest Colour isn’t a film you can casually dip into or watch comfortably in company. Rosie’s enthusiasm wasn’t enough to save Blue is the Warmest Colour from Viv’s dislike and not even Flixwatcher could help it score more than 2.98 overall, however Twitter was slightly more generous. Mr. Skin on Renegade Talk Radio -- Billions is back on the skin radar, thanks to one of Malin Akerman’s perky Swedish meatballs popping up on Showtime this weekend! In movie news, Below Her Mouth, the lesbian flick being hyped as the Canadian “Blue is the Warmest Colour”, is living up to the hype with 33 minutes of sex scenes including plenty of girl-on-girl action. And last but not least, we pay tribute to the late, great Chuck Barris with a look at the greatest guests of The Gong Show and other vintage game shows.
In this episode we go back to our roots where we discussed films we recommended to each other. This week Marina recommends 'Blue is the Warmest Colour' to Mick.

It had to happen sometime, and it's taken 91 episodes, but this is possibly the most shambolic podcast ever committed to the Internet. And for us, that's saying something. Owen manages to confuse two very different TV programmes, Steve doesn't watch the one film he was meant to, and while trying to make a very important point James manages to forget the name of a film, the actress in it, and what she said. It's not a complete bust of an episode though, and there are reviews of the Carrie remake, Palm d'Or winner Blue is the Warmest Colour, and Parkland. James also talks about the best and the worst films he's seen so far this year.
We've got info on Christmas film screenings around Dublin, a look back on the big titles from November focusing on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Blue is the Warmest Colour and a preview of some of December's releases. Also a chance to win a mug just for sending us your 2013 top five!
I veckans avsnitt summerar vi årets upplaga av Stockholms filmfestival och snackar bl.a. slaverieposet 12 Years a Slave, den lesbiska mastodontfilmen Blue is the Warmest Colour och infomercials med Ai Weiwei.
With Mark Lawson. Blue Is The Warmest Colour won the top prize, the Palme D'Or at this year's Cannes Film Festival, but was quickly mired in controversy when the actresses Lea Seydoux and Adele Exarchopolous complained about gruelling love scenes which took days to film. Subsequently, the director Abdellatif Kechiche said that the movie should not be released, as it had been sullied by accusations that it was a "horrible" shoot. Briony Hanson, a former programmer of the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival delivers her verdict. Last Tango in Halifax won the 2013 Bafta for Best Drama Series and went on to be broadcast in America to great acclaim. Series two begins tonight on BBC One and picks up where we left Derek Jacobi and Anne Reid's reunited childhood sweethearts. Writer Sally Wainwright discusses how she approached the follow-up. With news today that film producers are to make a sequel to the Christmas classic "It's a Wonderful Life", film critic Mark Eccleston explores some other surprising and unlikely film sequels. Writer Jez Butterworth and director Ian Rickson had one of the biggest critical hits of the last decade with their 2008 play Jerusalem. Now they have returned to the work which set light to their careers in 1995, Mojo. The new West End production of Mojo stars Rupert Grint, Brendan Coyle and Ben Whishaw as gangsters in 1950s Soho. Jez Butterworth and Ian Rickson discuss Mojo, Jerusalem and two decades of working together. Producer: Ellie Bury.
Palme D'Or winner "Blue Is The Warmest Colour", Paul Muldoon's book of rock lyrics 'The Word On The Street' & "A Journey Through London's Sub-Cultures - 1980s to Now" at the Old Selfridges Hotel.
We review Nothing Bad Can Happen, Blue is the Warmest Colour, Nebraska, On the Job and The Dance of Reality.
