This week's show is a special one, as It's our first time getting to review a film via an advanced screener and boy was this a fun flick. The latest film from Berlin Film Festivals Silver Bear winner Radu Jude (Aferim! (Bravo!) and Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn) Do Not Expect Too Much From The End Of The World takes a fierce and darkly comic swipe at modern day life. Overworked and underpaid production assistant Angela (Ilinca Manolache) is assigned to film a workplace safety video for a multinational corporation in Bucharest. When one of the interviewees makes a statement that ignites a scandal, Angela has to re-invent the story. Featuring appearances from Nina Hoss, Uwe Boll, and Angela's TikTok alter-ego Bobiță, Jude's anarchic satire is a wild and unforgettable ride through the vulgar indignities of the 21st century. The film was awarded the Special Jury Award at Locarno Film Festival  and will stream exclusively on MUBI in Canada from May 3, 2024. Radu Jude is a Romanian filmmaker who isn't to everyone's taste. His last film was called "Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn", a provocative satire that won the Golden Bear at the Berlinale in 2021 and pushed him into the center of global cinema. It also annoyed a lot of his countrymen who frankly found it crass. Jude's new film is a near three hour experience called "Do Not Expect Too Much From the End of the World," a triptych of differing styles that leaps, without warning, into a montage documentary before finally settling into the most remarkable single take scene of the year. Jude knows his work is divisive. „Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn“,der neue Film des rumänischen Regisseurs Radu Jude über einen Sexvideoskandal und die Bigotterie der Gesellschaft, wurde bei der Berlinale mit dem Goldenen Bären ausgezeichnet. Am 8. Juli kommt die bissige Gesellschaftssatire auch bei uns regulär ins Kino. Radu Jude ist natürlich zur Preisverleihung nach Berlin gekommen. Andrea Handels stellt Film und Regisseur vor.

Ma anche Shiva Baby, Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn, e Violation. Nonostante il periodo avaro di uscite di richiamo, siamo riusciti a tirare fuori una puntata di quasi due ore, solo per le persone davvero coraggiose.
