What's up Bros? Its TRAITORS TIME and we've been waiting for this one. First things first, yes, we did it, we changed our name, but we will forever be your BravBros and BravBros 4 life. Now back to business. We get introduced to our cast, and its a very solid list. 4 housewives, a Sandoval, a mysogynist royal, Survivor, Big Brother, Ru Paul, this cast has it all. There are already some tensions in the crew from previous beefs on their respective shows. Danielle has it in for Brittany, Carolyne has an issue with Tony, and it appears that some peoples reputations precede themselves... Our first challenge is anyone can sacrifice a current castmember and swap them with Boston Rob of Survivor lore. Nobody takes the deal thus exiling Rob. The cast gets settled in with one another and the traitors are selected. We have our first event at the row challenge and all four housewives sacrifice themselves. Ivar makes it very apparent that he thinks the women of the group are incapable of a physical challenge, but DQ Bob speaks up and calls it out. But it does create an interesting dynamic in the group which is something this show does so well. 6 of the 8 sacrificed during the first challenge are up for elimination. Those that remained on the boat have immunity thus leaving 4 housewives, Bob Harper and Sam, Brittney Spears ex husband. The traitors convene at the end to select someone to murder and Alan Cummings heads to the woods to reveal a twist in the game... Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

For the first Scots Whay Hae! podcast of 2024 Ali spoke to actor and writer Forbes Masson to talk about his starring role in a new one-person adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Jekyll and Hyde', which is at the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh from 13-27th January before going on tour. Forbes talks about the production itself, collaborating with writer Gary McNair and director Michael Fentiman, returning to the Lyceum after 20 years, the challenges of playing multiple roles, the complexities of Stevenson's text, and why it remains relevant today. The production is dedicated to the late Sir Michael Boyd who was central in not only Forbes' career, but in the development of modern Scottish theatre and Forbes talks warmly about their relationship, going back to the halcyon days of Glasgow's Tron Theatre in the 80s and 90s. He also touches upon his work alongside Alan Cummings, including as double act Victor and Barry who mark their 40th anniversary with 'Victor & Barry's Kelvinside Compendium: A Meander Down Memory Close' which will be published by 404 Ink later this year. It's a fascinating chat with one of the finest stage actors of the last 40 years, one which whets the appetite for this production of 'Jekyll and Hyde'. Ethan Hawke's meta-documentary about the lives, love, losses, and careers of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward is a worthwhile, often confounding effort with rewards and challenges alike. In this episode Jason talks about the origin of the documentary in the discovery of some transcripts of interviews conducted by a Newman associate in pursuit of a memoir and biography that Newman wanted to work on. For unknown reasons, Newman later abandoned the project and burned the audio tapes. But the transcripts survived and form the basis for actor-interpreted versions used in Hawke's documentary to varying degrees of success. The documentary tackles weighty issues like the loss of Newman's son Scott, the struggle within a marriage to survive the orbital tilt of Newman's level of super-stardom, and Newman's battle with alcoholism...a battle it seems he never quite won. By turns infuriating and moving, the film is a worthy but effortful watch. Also discussed: Alan Cummings lip-sync performance in the documentary 'My Old School', the AI Bourdain quotes used in his posthumous doc, and Peter Jackson's use of machine learning processes to reveal (or create) conversations in 'The Beatles: Get Back'.

How did a Spider-Man musical featuring Bono, the lady from The Lion King, and zero comic book fans turn out so badly? The answer is obvious but it's still a fun ride!

This podcast follows an online workshop on a selection of three haiku, chosen by Alan Cummings. Alan Cummings is Senior Lecturer in Japanese Studies at SOAS University of London. Following a dream can sometimes mean leaving the comfort of a small town for the struggles of big city living. Caleb brings his Big Apple acting aspirations and his mid-western charm to Jobs Blow to discuss making the move from Fremont, Ohio – also Briana’s hometown – while sharing the highs and lows of an actor’s life with Josh. The multi-talented performer, who starred in Broadway’s Cabaret alongside Emma Stone, Michelle Williams, Sienna Miller and Alan Cummings, delivers a top-notch performance as a first-time guest on the show. Plus he’s really easy on the eyes, however since this is audio, you’ll have to take Josh’s word for it.

The Simple Sophisticate - Intelligent Living Paired with Signature Style
~The Simple Sophisticate, episode #157 ~Subscribe to The Simple Sophisticate: iTunes | Stitcher | iHeartRadio Jazz and France is a coupling that instantaneously grabs my attention. Add a woman who has followed her passion, appreciates the moment and lives life to the fullest all the while staying grounded in this ever-changing thing called life, and I want to get to know her further. Elizabeth Bougerol is not only the front woman of The Hot Sardines vintage jazz band that is making "the old sound new" again, but she is also the co-founder with the bandleader and man at the piano, Evan Palazzo (above with Elizabeth, bottom right). The band's music has been described by The Times (London) as "simply phenomenal" and their music has reached the No. 1 slot on the iTunes Jazz chart in the U.S. and internationally. With songs in both English and French, their first two albums are a must-have on your jazz playlist. Elizabeth joins me on today's episode to talk about jazz and the journey she has been on as The Hot Sardines have begun to catch many an ear of fans and critics alike over just a few short years. As well we discuss passion projects, knowing when to leap, redefining the term "stability" and of course we talk about France, where she was born and raised and regularly visits. The discussion continues into the differences between the French and American cultures and the different approaches regarding daily living, and the importance of living in the moment. From food to listening to the voice inside that wants to give something a try that may not align with your perceived self-image to taking advantage of opportunities even if you do not feel entirely ready, today's conversation is one to take 45 minutes out of your day and enjoy. I have a feeling, if you're like me, you'll walk away with at least one (if not many) thought to ponder and apply to your life. See one below, as well as the song (one of two) that is played and discussed during the episode. ~The Hot Sardines' website ~Elizabeth Bougerol's website ~The Hot Sardines: Instagram | YouTube |Facebook | Twitter ~Tour Schedule Albums: French Fries + Champagne (2016) The Hot Sardines (2014) ~The title song of The Hot Sardines' most recent album: "French Fries + Champagne" ~The litmus test which sparked the partnership between Elizabeth and Evan: "Your Feet's Too Big" ~Elizabeth's recommended destination to visit in France: Cancale ~@hotsardines - Instagram pics: Elizabeth with Alan Cummings singing "When I Get Low I Get High"; with Alan Cumming who is featured on French Fries + Champagne; Elizabeth enjoying French Fries + Champagne; The Hot Sardines~ ~The song I have been playing on repeat. "Wake Up In Paris". In our conversation on the podcast, Elizabeth shares her inspiration for the song, as well as how long it took her to write it. Be sure to tune and discover where exactly the inspiration came from for the first two notes of the song. https://youtu.be/ulsK9jvgsAw Petit Plaisir: Elizabeth shared with listeners, not one, but two of her favorite Petit Plaisirs. Have a look below: ~On the road: Maldon Sea Salt Fleur de Sel, here as well Himalayan Rock Salt La Baleine sea salt ~At Home (see below): An enormous thank you to Elizabeth and her team for taking the time to join me on The Simple Sophisticate. ~View more episodes of The Simple Sophisticate here. It’s also only 98 fucking minutes long, so Gio has to watch it TWICE So I found this movie from the soundtrack, in a round about way, that did better than the movie. The thankfully bloodless embarrassment that was the Farsi Island Incident is still making news after the January 12, 2016 seizure of 10 U.S. sailors by Iranian forces. Especially for our Surface Warfare community, there are a lot of hard, cold lessons here not just about the incident itself, leadership and professionalism – and institutional lessons about how conditions are set and organizations are sub-optimized to a degree that an incident - in hindsight – was just a matter of “when” vice “if.”Using his recent article at CIMSEC on the topic, our guest for the full hour to discuss the background leading up to the Farsi Island incident, its aftermath, and the lessons we should be taking from it will be Alan Cummings, LT USN.Alan is a 2007 graduate of Jacksonville University. He served previously as a surface warfare officer aboard a destroyer, embedded with a USMC infantry battalion, and as a Riverine Detachment OIC. The views expressed in the article and on Midrats are his own and in no way reflect the official position of the U.S. Navy.
WILKOMMEN to our Cabaret episode full of fun, sex, and loaded with self-deception. Deedily deedly dee! Two versions! Guest co-host Yonit takes the reins explaining the arguably better revival (and not just because Alan Cummings) while Gaby has a lot of personal feelings in this kind of horrifying story. What, did you only see the movie? Ahahaha, oh dear . . .
