When it comes to Andy Diggle, it's about a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck. After starting as an editor on such UK magazines as Judge Dredd, Sonic the Comic, and 2000 AD (in the year 2000 AD!), Andy started writing his own stories in the same magazines. Then it was off to America, where he started writing for Vertigo and DC on titles like Lady Constantine, The Losers, Swamp Thing, Adam Strange, Silent Dragon, and Green Arrow: Year One (which formed the blueprint for the Arrow TV series). Over at Marvel, he wrote Thunderbolts and the Daredevil crossover event Shadowland, among other titles.Now, he's helping resurrect DC's Elseworlds imprint with the miniseries Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age, the debut issue of which just came out on 6/11/24! Marc Guggenheim stopped in for Fandom Sessions to geek out over superheroes and comics. Marc has spent years putting his creative mind into bringing to life many TV projects such as Law & Order and also had his hand in adapting the CW's Arrow TV series which spawned the entire Arrowverse that has stood strong for years and will finally work towards its finale. Another passion of Marc's has always been comics and he has also had his hand in penning comics with many different publishers including Marvel and DC Comics. He now looks to roll into the new year with more titles after releasing two fascinating series with two of our favorite publishers Dark Horse Comics and Image Comics. Starling Tribune - Season 4 Edition – Episode 13: Sins Of The Father (A CW Network Arrow Television Show Fan Podcast)   The Official Arrow Podcast of the Gonna Geek Network   In a decidedly bittersweet week for Arrow, The Starling Tribune reporters Chris, Neil and Stargate Pioneer drop down their thoughts on what occurred on the screen within the episode “Sins Of The Father” and off the create with the battling DC and Arrow creative teams. Starling Tribune - Season 4 Edition – Episode 9: Dark Waters   The Official Arrow Podcast of the Gonna Geek Network   A day after the Arrow season 4 mid-season finale the Starling Tribune reporters gather to marvel at the episode and the 1st half of the season. Reporter Neil unfortunately could not make it so fan of the podcast Jenny joins us to fill Neil's seat. With less than a week before Star Wars Episode VII it is on everyone's brain so the new podcast “squirrel” moment is “StarWars!” included with an Arrow reference to Star Wars as well. In the meat of the episode none of the reporters believe Felicity is dead but Jenny does have “Death fatigue” and SP comes out with his special theory. The possibility of Time Travel is discussed and everyone revised their grave-site death predictions. It's a packed Arrow episode too with an Oliver-Felicity engagement and many secrets are revealed such as Damian's family (we fear for Damian's daughter), Quentin and Momma Smoak's relationship. None of the reporters have a good handle on the Andy-John Diggle story line. The reporters love the dual father-daughter arcs in the episode. The reporters discuss how Oliver is handling both Team Arrow and Star City Mayoral Candidate. The reporters compare and contrast the villain evolution of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Grant Ward and Arrow's Damian Darhk. “Genesis” continues to be a mystery. Lain-Yu Sharnadko 4 was quite the bust. The reporters comment on Malcom Merlyn as The Green Arrow. Chris answers the question of “Did Laurel redeem herself yet?” and all of the reporters give their take on a future Laurel-Oliver relationship. Starling Tribune - Season 4 Edition – Episode 8: Legends Of Yesterday   The Official Arrow Podcast of the Gonna Geek Network   It's a special edition of The Starling Tribune as the reporters discuss the Arrow and Flash crossover, Legends Of Today and Legends Of Yesterday. The GonnaGeek network steals a page from the CW network and does a crossover of our own as The Starling Tribune sends Reporter Neil this week to The Crimson Comet and Jonolobster from The Crimson Comet is welcomed to the reporter's pool for the week. We love the Geek And Avengers references this week ala the superhero loft party and the farmhouse scenes. They three reporters talk about how great these episodes are for new viewers to start on, why the Arrow Lair's computers have been acting all weird, and how some characters and secondary characters were not given their full due. What an awesome complete death scene! The reporters give their take on Big Boss fight scene #1 and Bg Boss fight scene #2. Damian Darhk and Vandal Savage see a speedster for the first time. The reporters have a theory on Vandal Savage and the League Of Assassins. The reporters are wowed by Felicity's tech-fu being able to play a BetaMax on a dime using modern equipment. Even while he is on the road for the week, Neil reports remotely from Central City. Going deeper into the episode, the reporters discuss is Felicity is acting out of character and if Samatha Clayton is asking too much of Oliver. Those issues bother's Stargate Pioneer so much he reached out to Anna Hopkins to get her take on what happened in the episode. Starling Tribune - Season 4 Edition – Episode 7: Brotherhood   The Official Arrow Podcast of the Gonna Geek Network   As we close in on the first big crossover event with Flash this year, Chris, Neil, and Stargate Pioneer recap episode 7 of this 4th season of Arrow. This episode, Brotherhood, features the return of Diggle's long lost brother with ramifications that could shake up Team Arrow. Neil geeks out over James “Bam-Bam” Bamford's episode direction, his FIRST time behind the camera as director. Did Bam-Bam's direction live up to all our hype over this occurrence? Starling Tribune - Season 4 Edition – Episode 5: Haunted   The Official Arrow Podcast of the Gonna Geek Network   It seems everyone wanted to watch Matt Ryan back as John Constantine as Arrow received such a significant bump in the ratings this week despite leaking online. Neil, SP and Chris did too and they are back again to geek out over the episode. They talk about how the show might change now that magic has been introduced to the Star City Team Arrow and applaud Matt Ryan's NBC dig with the dead peacock feather. Is Oliver Queen really Pure Of Heart? Neil suggests that he is really has Purity Of Purpose instead. But that tattoo has everyone wondering how and when it will work this year. Just how dense is Baron Reiter? Apparently very. And Neil strikes again with mention of the Outsiders War and the Island of Lian Yu becoming a character of its own again this season.  The three speculate on how Damian Darhk has infiltrated Team Arrow through his election headquarters. Is Andy Diggle's background believable? Is Andy's background any more believable than supporting Laurel anymore? Even the staunchest defender of the original content is starting to have a hard time supporter anymore. Starling Tribune - Season 4 Edition – Episode 4: Beyond Redemption   The Official Arrow Podcast of the Gonna Geek Network   With Neil off this week Chris and Stargate Pioneer brave the Blab.im storm and thrown down over this week's Arrow episode. We give our feelings on the new Arrowcave/Quiver/Lair 5.0 (is it really 5.0?). We also talk about the AMAZING performances by Paul Blackthorne and Stephen Amell. And Captain Lance considering shooting Sara? Very powerful indeed. Now that Sara is loose is she on her own? Is she a captive of Damian Darhk? Is Thea her objective? We update who we think is in the grave and totally admit that Arrow is completely misleading us. Or are they? SP kind of called one! The Lair 5.0 is not in the basement of City Hall BUT it is in the basement of Oliver Queen's campaign headquarters! We loved the callbacks this episode including P-A-S-S-W-O-R-D. We tell what exactly Felicity is not wearing. We ogle over the fight scenes (again) as well as the trick arrows. WE GET A SHIRTLESS OLLIE SALMON LADDER SCENE! And the flashbacks are predictable but worth the time to watch anyway. Basically a job worth applauding the inexperienced Director/Writing crew (even though there were a few “plot requires” moments in the episode). Oliver needs a bit better armor based on the last two weeks. When is Damian going to find out Oliver is The Green Arrow? And what's in Damian's box? Starling Tribune - Season 4 Edition – Episode 3: Restoration   The Official Arrow Podcast of the Gonna Geek Network   During another fun Blab.im live recording, Neil, Stargate Pioneer and Chris gather again to discuss the 3rd episode of the 4th Arrow season. It was great to see Nyssa back on the show and just how evil Malcom Merlyn can be. Why did that one Ghost let Diggle live at the battle of the Woodmill? SP has a pretty good theory about why that Neil added unto. Damian Darhk sure demonstrate how deadly simple parlor card tricks can be. SP teaches that worksite cranes sometimes do come equipped with remote control technologies thus validating Felicity's ability to remote control one from the Arrow Lair 3.0. There is a LOT of Lair 3.0 talk too. Felicity's mention of Mirikuru soldiers was a Great Pull. SP has issue with Felicity's machine gun spray and pray move. Felicty's character growth comes to a new level in the episode and everyone is impressed. Chris finds a reason for Oliver to have sleeves on his costume again. ( #bringbacksleeves ) We're all excited to see the T-Sphere's and of course Ray Palmer is trying to get Felicity's attention through her mobile phone. The show finally found a way to get rid of the Lazarus Pit after its heroic and historic reanimation of Sara. And the hosts have a message for Laurel: When MALCOLM tells you that doing something is a bad idea you've probably gone way too far. Someone needs to get Sara and Thea bad to 100%. Will it be Damian? Will it be Constantine? The relationship between Quentin Lance and Damian continues to confuse everyone. Everyone loves OTA – Original Team Arrow. Everyone rates the villain of the week, Double Down. SP was happy to see Ryan Robbins but knows Oliver is going to kills him eventually. The guys take bets on where Oliver is heading with the woman. We revisit the “Star City Beard Report” including his mutant power. Would you take a card for us? The fights continue to be amazing including the double fight this week and the sparing in Nanda Parbat and Thea's nightmare wake-up call fight. And finally, what happened with Oliver's decision to run for mayor? “Three Ghosts” Episode Description: Barry manages to save Oliver’s life, but Oliver is angry to find out that Felicity has revealed his secret when he regains consciousness. Barry and Felicity are able to identify and locate Oliver’s attacker, Cyrus Gold. While continuing to discover the truth behind the death of Sin’s friend Max, Roy is captured by Cyrus and brought before Sebastian who injects him with the Mirakuru serum. The serum fails to work and kills Roy. Oliver arrives and stops Cyrus, simultaneously destroying the centrifuge and the remaining serum. Oliver revives Roy, but worries that the serum may affect him negatively. In flashbacks, Ivo kills Shado, but flees when Slade turns up with super-human strength and kills his men. Later, Slade is revealed to be alive in the present and the one orchestrating Blood’s work; he orders Blood to leave the vigilante alone, so that he can deal with him personally. While Roy recovers at the Queen mansion, the serum injection heals the arrow wound in his leg. Barry leaves a domino mask for Oliver, to better hide his identity, and returns to Central City. While in his lab, Barry is hit by strange lightning created by an accident at the new particle accelerator. “The Scientist” Episode Description: When a masked thief with superhuman strength steals a centrifuge from Queen Consolidated, Oliver and his team investigate, with the help of Central City CSI Barry Allen. Oliver suspects that Barry is hiding something and has him investigated. When confronted, Barry reveals that he is searching for super-powered beings in the hope that he will find the one responsible for the murder of his mother. Oliver realizes that the thief was enhanced using the same serum that Dr. Ivo was searching for on the island. Roy and Thea stumbled upon Oliver’s case after helping Sin to find her missing friend, but Oliver shoots Roy in the leg to prevent him getting further involved. Oliver tracks the thief, but is injured and injected with an unknown toxin. In order to save Oliver’s life, Felicity contacts Barry to help find an antidote. Meanwhile, Malcolm puts pressure on Moira to tell Thea that he is her father. Moira instead contacts Ra’s al Ghul, who wants to kill Malcolm for breaking the League of Assassins’ code of honor by destroying the Glades. As a result, Malcolm leaves and warns her that the issue regarding Thea is not over. In a flashback to the island, Oliver and Shado find the serum, but when they inject Slade with it his heart stops, just as Dr. Ivo arrives with his men. Starling Tribune - Season 2 Edition – Broken Dolls   The Official Arrow Podcast of the Gonna Geek Network   In this edition of the Starling Tribune the reporters Wing, Jay and Stargate Pioneer discuss the third season of season two titled “Broken Dolls.” The reporters mention how aptly named the episode is because several major female characters are “broken” including one who we do not even know who she is yet! And the Dollmaker is so evil he shakes all three reporters to the core. Reporter SP doesn't know who The Black Canary is (still) and it's up to Jay and Wing to give him the knowledge that he is sorely lacking, ESPECIALLY since he hasn't even starting reading the episode credits yet. While Jay and Wing do have background comic knowledge of The Black Canary and the comic references to the newly introduced ship's name Amazo, none of the reporters have background knowledge of Sin but the reporters have some interesting theories to share. There's even a brief diversion into Aquaman. Reporter SP also is stuck on dead bodies apparently now in both the DC and Marvel Comic Universes thanks to Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the Arrow pilot. Roy continues to be extremely reckless and is in sore need of training….as is Detective Lance apparently Mr. Starsky and Hutch. The Detective might need to learn police tactics in the 21st century but apparently everyone must listen to his names since “Arrow” catches on like wildfire. Oliver might have a new vigilante name but it doesn't help him run his company any better and it apparently doesn't help him sleep at home anymore either since the Queen Mansion seems to be a set of the past. Reporter SP gives a big shoutout to Stargate SG-1 alum Teryl Rothery who comes into Starling City as Moira's attorney and Reporters Jay and Wing geek out about the big reveal that Ra's al Ghul will be involved in the Arrow TV universe.
