Consumers are beginning to understand that their personal data has real value, but it is still held in the hands of big technology companies.  The promise of consumers managing and owning their own data will become a reality thanks to decentralised or self-sovereign identity (SSI).To delve into this topic, I'm delighted to welcome onto the podcast Marie Wallace, Digital Identity Lead at Accenture.Marie and I both had the chance to work together at IBM and I've always enjoyed our discussions about analytics and data, and this conversation explains SSI in a very accessible way.Self-Sovereign Identity, or decentralized identity, is a model where individuals have full control over their personal data.During the episode, Marie debunked the common myth that implementing this model necessitates a blockchain, and we looked at the concept of "streaming trust".We also looked at Marie's instrumental role in projects like IBM's Digital Health Pass and New York's Excelsior Pass during the pandemic.A fascinating part of the discussion revolved around the concept of verifiable data, and the potential of AI in offering personalised career advice, primed with our own personal data.We also examined how companies might interact with customers to provide incentives for releasing individual data and how LinkedIn is starting to verify profiles to allow individuals to have more control over the data they own. This episode also looked at the integral role of trust networks, the need for secure digital wallets, and the exciting prospects of verifiable data.We also covered topics such asThe concept of "streaming trust" & how SSI worksSovereign identity & worker onboardingTrusting the trust providerThe need for secure, trusted digital walletsUsing SSI to validate my LinkedIn profileExploring the Concept of Verifiable DataEmpowering consumers with their own dataThe role of AI with SSI & personal dataSSI drivers: risk, cost, fraud reductionWhere do I store my SSI data? The Philosophy of Self-Sovereign IdentityExamples where SSI is working alreadySelf-Sovereign Identity and AI ExplorationsEmbedding trust with the supply chainAI uses in SSIEmpowering Individuals with Self-Sovereign IdentityWho needs to drive SSI adoption? The biggest challenge in SSIWhat are the steps to take to control my own data?Being more data literate and caring about your identity and online safetyThree actionable steps to manage your own identityMore on MarieMarie on LinkedInMarie on TwitterMarie's blogMarie's TED talkResources mentioned1PasswordYour Host: Actionable Futurist® & Chief Futurist Andrew GrillFor more on Andrew - what he speaks about and recent talks, please visit ActionableFuturist.com Andrew's Social ChannelsAndrew on LinkedIn@AndrewGrill on Twitter @Andrew.Grill on InstagramKeynote speeches hereAndrew's upcoming book

Ever wondered how a simple idea during physiotherapy school turned into a thriving podcast? Curious about how to make the most of your time and skills to achieve your goals? In this episode of Healthcare Hacks and Connections, Nate welcomes guest Dalton Laino, a business owner, runner, and coffee lover who is currently focused on building The Movement Physio & Performance to empower people to take control of their health. Dalton shares the origin story of his podcast, PT Coffeecast, explaining that he and his business partner, Will, started it while they were in physiotherapy school. They wanted to use the podcast as a platform to discuss and improve the profession. Also, in this episode, Dalton discusses how the podcast has evolved over time and its initial purpose of bridging the gap between student learning and current industry trends in healthcare. Overall, the episode highlights the evolution of social media usage in business. It underscores the importance of utilizing social media as a tool for self-expression, communication, and attracting the right audience, rather than solely focusing on going viral. Nate and Dalton encourage listeners to prioritize tasks, acquire necessary skills, and make the most of their time to achieve their goals. They will touch on such topics asThe start and inspiration of PT Coffeecast, transitioning the podcast from an interview-based to a podcast-based approach: “The mission of the movement is to change the way people feel about healthcare, including the industry and clinicians.”Mentorship and audience demographics, transitioning Instagram brand to business, and the difference in how social media influence Canada and the USA.Using social media effectively by connecting with people in multiple realms, owning The Movement Physio & Performance, and bringing a different flavor to the business. The importance of details and progress photos for your business, and learning from the mentorship and moving forward: “The timing of the mentorship makes sense, and it takes a while to accept that you may not be ready to do what you really want to do yet.”Revenue and profit goals, YouTube podcast world evolution, and how often they plan out mentorship.Captioning for social media, understanding and empathizing with others, and never being afraid to put in the work. Hack: “When it comes to partnerships or collaborating with brands, I think the most important thing is something that we've always done is just making sure that that business, that person, that company aligns with your values and you align with them.” Dalton Laino Reach Out to Dalton:Listen to his Podcast- PT Coffeecast:Apple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ptcoffeecast/id1336306312Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2xHwo1hgZG1Kq4aOwKhrIT?si=BpBQWZpIToyVbNlTQVcoFAInstagram: @ptcoffeecast@themvmtpts Reach out to Me:Instagram: @thepodcast_docFacebook: www.facebook.com/nate.navas (0:00:00) - Public Company Executive to Lifestyle EngineerGeneral McChrystal and I discussed failure, inspiring conversations, and lessons learned. (0:11:58) - The Resignation and Moving ForwardGeneral McChrystal discussed transitioning from military to civilian life, Obama's momentous decision, and the power of moving forward. (0:22:17) - Leaving, Starting, and Finding LiberationStan McChrystal's story of career transition, spouse support, liberation, and impact on others is discussed. (0:29:55) - Duty and Resilience From Stanley McChrystalStan shared his journey to a new life, his thoughts on difficult situations, and his inspiring message about decency, honor, and inspiration. (0:34:59) - Promotion of Book and PodcastGeneral Stanley McChrystal's journey from Afghanistan to meeting the President, his spouse's support, and his leadership skills are explored.

Are you ready to hire the best and brightest talent from Gen Z?In today's episode, we're diving into the concept of the NarcisStory and what it means for businesses hiring Gen Z'rs.We Are a Brand“Since we were kids, Gen Z has had personal brands…We've already had our own brand or what I call the “NarcisStory” by the time that you hire us. So, this presents a really big challenge for employers who don't recognize that Gen Z is not just an employee, we're actually a brand.” --- Hannah WilliamsWhen it comes to job hunting, Gen Z is not just looking for a paycheck. They are looking for a company that aligns with their brand, image, and online presence. They've been building their own personal brands. This is something that every CEO, HR executive, and business owner needs to understand in order to attract, recruit, retain, and engage Gen Z talent. And if you want to unlock the potential of Gen Z, the book, "A Leader's Guide to Unlocking Gen Z." is something you might want to check out on. It is written from a Gen Zer's perspective and covers 30 essential concepts for successful Gen Z hiring.Be Part of the Naciss Story“Human beings are continually on a quest for a meaningful life, and Gen Z is no exception.” --- Hannah WilliamsGen Z'rs consider how well the company aligns with their personal brand and are seeking their purpose and meaning in their work. And this where the "NarcisStory" comes in. NarcisStory is defined asThe reputation of a person amplified by their interests, activities, and the associations they want to be defined by.Some Gen Z'rs may not even realize they're doing it, but they're building their reputation through social media, fashion choices, and more.In other words, it's the choices Gen Z'rs make based on how they want to be portrayed to their followers. It's crucial to understand the "NarcisStory" in order to retain and what made them tick, because if you don't, you'll be missing out on the best and brightest from Gen Z.Redrawing the Lines of Success“We are pioneering this new way of living, this new future…” --- Hannah WilliamsThe concept of NarcisStory is so integral to Gen Z.Work for Gen Z is an extension of identity. The NarcisStory exists because Gen Z'rs have been given an incredible opportunity to create and pave our own pathways from a very early age.We take immense pride in sharing where we work and the purpose behind our daily responsibilities. In the past, the American dream was all about getting a good job, owning a home, and raising a family. But for Gen Z, the dream is something different entirely. From college degrees to online businesses, Gen Z is rewriting the rules of success. And in the process, they've created their own unique story,It's a reflection of how Gen Z'rs are living their lives. Not content to simply punch a clock and collect a paycheck, but to make a real impact on the world.-----Book: A Leader's Guide to Unlocking Gen Z.Join our community! In the fall of 2018, the world as I knew it imploded putting me on a collision course withcatastrophe and success. The catastrophe part was clear as a bell, the success…not so much. Inretrospect, I see that sometimes it takes an explosion and the ground to split in order to riseabove the demolition to resurrect and be on the path one is meant to be.Allow me to explain. At the time, I was represented by a prestigious agency by which, since Iwas a yearling, had always wanted to be repped. There's a certain cache that comes with anagency's status. It makes you feel you're pissing with the big boyz-or girls, a status that reflects Ihave significance, therefore; I am.Work took off. I recurred on New York's iconic shows, Law & Order and L&O SVU amongstother television gigs; was cast in a major feature film; and did theatre. Life was good, until theroles got fewer and the bookings leaner. After all, I was a woman “of a certain age”, and unlessyou're a star, or “a name”, you'd better have a rich spouse or a real estate license ‘cause the oddsof being sought after by the Entertainment Industry at my age was less than being hit by lightenor the lottery. The calls got scarcer, the bookings fewer. Before long, that fateful phone callcame. “We love you, nothing personal, but you're a female, (old since you're over 40) andthere's really no use for this heifer in our stable.” I was dropped. To put a perspective on the significance of losing theatrical representation for a middle-agedwoman, my dear friend, Brian Tarantina (who was on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and has sincepassed, sadly) said, “They dropped you? At this stage?!” Yeah, at this stage indeed because whois going to rep me now? No one, it seemed. I made multiple calls, most of which wentunanswered or, if they did reply, the answer was the same, “We have women in your categorywho we can't get work. Now, if you were a woman of color, Indian, say, we'd be interested.”“I'll tan,” I'd joke, but they ignored the humor. The way it looked, my career was over, done, finished without me making that choice.During all this, I was in an obsessive, lustful, met the-love-of-my-life, crazy-making relationship. Why is it the unhealthier the relationship the more addictive it is? I felt like I was dating crack.Needless to say, that blew up in my face along with my theatrical representation leaving me2tossed aside like roadkill. So many rugs were pulled out from under me the floor collapsed, andI was in freefall. No representation, no work, lost my health insurance, cyphering off my savings, and devasted with a broken heart. Life never looked bleaker. In the course of only 6 weeks, I lost 7 pounds, which I did not have to lose, my hair was fallingout, and my breasts looked like deflated helium balloons-which reflected my life conditionperfectly. One afternoon upon returning home, I dropped to my knees in utter despair weeping.Perhaps a good cry will help, I thought, until the crying wouldn't cease. It becameuncontrollable. Is this a breakdown? The thought terrified me. Rising to my feet, fists clenchedlike Scarlett O'Hara, I repeated aloud, “I will not break down!” Finally, getting control of myemotions, my therapist's voice echoed in my head, “Put one foot in front of the other and keepmoving your feet.” Drained, I chanted and prayed then reluctantly went back to making calls, sending emails, and went to Plan B, though there was no Plan B to go to.One never forgets acts of kindness, especially in despair. My commercial agent, David Elliot, said to me as I wept with humiliation in his office, “Yourvalue hasn't changed.”“Did you not hear me, David? I was dropped by my theatrical reps. My value is lower than Iraqicurrency.”“Look at your body of work, your skill set. Your value hasn't changed.” He led me into my othercommercial agent's office, Michael Raymen, who, unbeknownst to me, was the president of theagents' association. He set up an appointment with a prestigious office, parallel to the one thatgave me the boot. That meeting went well, very well, and my optimism ran high until I receiveda gracious, respectful rejection saying that because I wasn't 20 something, had I been a womanof color, they would be very interested in signing me. Seemed like my value was paling. But I heeded the advice of my therapist, “Pray, chant, and keep moving your feet.” Reluctantly, with little faith in the process and in myself, I asked Michael for another recommendation. Asthe saying goes, 10 th time's a charm.3These new agents said what I didn't expect. They had no one like me, I embodied New Yorksophistication, intelligence, and chic. All I kept thinking was, But I'm a blue-collar, ItalianAmerican girl from Schenectady, though was wise enough not to verbalize that thought to them. They signed me, and a new, working relationship was born. Now, just over three years later, I recur as Judge Nina Larkin in season 1 of: POWER BOOK 2:GHOST, guest starred to critical acclaim on FBI, BILLIONS and THE DEUCE, won a SAGAWARD for my work in THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7, recently shot a HallmarkChristmas movie, am in the #1 video game in the world, HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST. Andlast, but most exciting, I am in two of the most anticipated shows of 2022: recurring inINVENTING ANNA as Sasha Thomas, and THE FIRST LADY as Laura Bush opposite ViolaDavis' Michelle Obama. Oh, and my dating life is rather hot now, too.Moral of the story: When the world seems to have lost faith in you, even when you lose faith inyourself, always believe in hope, move your feet; and never take no or any rejection as your finalanswer.

If selling feels spammy, frustrating, overcomplicated, and out of alignment with what you actually value,  the problem might NOT be you. It *might* be the MODEL. The most commonly taught sales model is something I think of as ABC - always be CLOSING. This model is underneath SO MANY of the books, courses, trainings, and freebies out in the world today. It's  taught asTHE way...and yet it's FAILING you (and me) and so many other people. On this episode of Teachers in Business I'm going to share why exactly ABC feels SO terrible, and why it might NOT be THE way for you and your business, esp. if you are or were a TEACHER.

Chapter 75 Withthat kick and that blow Pinocchio gained everybody's favor. Everyoneadmired him, danced attendance5 upon him, pettedand caressed6 him. Asthe days passed into weeks, even the teacher praised him,for he saw him attentive7, hard working, and wideawake, always the first to come in the morning, and the lastto leave when schoolwas over. Pinocchio'sonly fault was that he had too many friends. Amongthese were many well-known rascals8, who carednot a jot9 for study or forsuccess. Theteacher warned him each day, and even the goodFairy repeated to him many times: "Takecare, Pinocchio! Those bad companions willsooner or later make you lose yourlove for study. Someday they will lead you astray.""There's no such danger,"answered the Marionette, shrugging his shoulders and pointing to his forehead asifto say, "I'm too wise."So it happened that one day, as he waswalking to school,he met some boys who ran up to him and said: "Haveyou heard the news?""No!""A Shark as big as a mountain hasbeen seen near the shore.""Really? I wonder if it could be the sameone I heardof when my father was drowned?""We are going to see it.Are you coming?""No, not I. I must go to school.""What doyou care about school? You can go there tomorrow. 5 attendance n.出席,出席人数,护理,照料参考例句:· The attendance of this class never dropped off.这个班的出席人数从未下降。· The young man danced attendance on his rich aunt.这个年轻人小心侍候他有钱的姑妈。6 caressed 爱抚或抚摸…( caress的过去式和过去分词 )参考例句:· His fingers caressed the back of her neck. 他的手指抚摩着她的后颈。· He caressed his wife lovingly. 他怜爱万分地抚摸着妻子。7 attentive adj.注意的,专心的;关心(别人)的,殷勤的参考例句:· She was very attentive to her guests.她对客人招待得十分周到。· The speaker likes to have an attentive audience.演讲者喜欢注意力集中的听众。8 rascals 流氓( rascal的名词复数 ); 无赖; (开玩笑说法)淘气的人(尤指小孩); 恶作剧的人参考例句:· "Oh, but I like rascals. "唔,不过我喜欢流氓。· "They're all second-raters, black sheep, rascals. Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Kandle over Zoom video! BC-born singer-songwriter, Kandle Osborne, is catharsis personified. Embodying equal parts cabaret chanteuse and ambitious rock singer, she’s covered everything in her inky blues-influenced songs from heartbreak, sexual assault, chronic illness and a loss of power, providing an immense release for her listeners with her treacle-dipped voice. Kandle discovered a true love for music in Nancy Sinatra, Billie Holiday and Shirley Bassey to name just a few. Strong influences from the fierce female greats of a gone era, Kandle writes, and sings exclusively with her heart; something so often void in the modern era of over produced perfection. Kandle sings honest and raw, vulnerable yet empowered, never afraid to pen, even life’s heaviest moments. After years battling through the infamously cold and stark music industry and finally escaping the shackles of sour recording contracts, Kandle broke free from her label ties in March of 2020, and suddenly found herself in full control of her music. In the summer of 2020, Kandle dropped a brand new EP titled, Stick Around and Find Out – her first release as an independent artist. Now, Kandle is setting her sights on her next project – her upcoming fourth album. While the new album – which is currently untitled – may have been recorded under extraordinary circumstances (while under lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic), Kandle streamlined her focus and vision. She steps into her self-worth with the confidence of a true veteran who is capable of taking any situation and finding an opportunity for a deeper emotional connection. If her past has provided catharsis, her future is all about empowerment. The recording process then began in March of 2020, only a few short days before the JUNO Awards in Saskatoon were cancelled and the music industry was turned on its head.It became very serious very quickly. Asthe days went by, recording music wasn’t enough to keep the talk of pandemic from seeping into every conversation, obviously. We definitely had a few moments of panic and fear and trying to figure out safe places to stay, who was willing to let us quarantine on their couch, where to get food. But the record became our small beacon of light in the chaos of uncertainty. By the second week there were just four of us left and we just basically self-isolated together. We were referring to ourselves as a quaranteam; we were there every day and night and eventually the studio owner called us and told us to stay and said we could bring a mattress in there if we needed to. We didn’t end up doing that, but that’s how into it we got. We’d go into work mode for 14 or 15 hours straight and just sleep and repeat. We want to hear from you! The Samadhi Center, located about halfway between Toronto and Ottawa, is a place for people to practice meditation and engage in deep self-inquiry. All Samadhi Center retreats, including the 10 day-long silent retreats at the Samadhi Center, are suitable for all levels, from beginner to advanced and require no previous training. Samadhi, or union with the true self, is the ultimate purpose of prayer, meditation, yoga, and all true spiritual practices and pursuits. Shakespeare said, "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players". When we are identified with our character, our persona, this is Maya, the illusion of the self. Samadhi is awakening from the dream of your character in the play of life. With these five Samadhi guided meditations you may find helpful, whether you are getting started in meditation, or you are interested in deepening your meditation practice. One guided meditation will be released each week starting with this Samadhi Guided Meditation Introduction: Breath As The BridgeThis series of five guided meditations is focused on the breath. It is designed to cultivate the concentration and equanimity needed to realize Samadhi. The parts are not separate meditation techniques, but part of one evolving, continuously deepening practice of observing the breath.Introduction To Samadhi: Breath As The BridgePart 1 - Samadhi Guided Meditation: Concentration and SurrenderPart 2 - Samadhi Guided Meditation: The HindrancesPart 3 - Samadhi Guided Meditation: PranaPart 4 - Samadhi Guided Meditation: Know YourselfThe Samadhi Center - Online Meditation Community - AwakenTheWorld.com.Join our free, live, online ZOOM meditations. https://youtu.be/T2EXLJwPOUI In this episode, we review the video from Dave Ramsey about The 3 Basic Money Skills You Need To Know Review. He talks about spending, saving and giving. Here is the transcript for this episode: There's really three basic money skills, so giving saving and spending, okaySo in this video, we're going to review Dave Ramsey's video onthe three basic money skills that everybody needs to know and soYou know just saw the clip there where he's introducing it. And so we just wanted to kind of give our thoughts on itSo he's sort of outlined it so it's the the saving while the spending I guesshe says first spending saving and giving so kind of those three areas andAt the beginning of the video. Basically it's prompted by a caller who isWanting to buy a new car he saved up enough to where he can afford to pay for it in cashHe's got you know emergency reserved saved up and all thatso he's doing fine financially beats having a hard time, you know parting with the money, soso it's it's one of those things that I think we we do see as financial planners, you know sometimesSomebody is just kind of out of balance in one of those areas and it can kind of wreak havoc on their financial situationwell, or you get used to a certain lifestyle, I meanI remember even personally just being in school and not spending anything or being in inyou know out of the country and just had minimal resources and it's hard to adjust sometimes toSpending quite a bit or I mean they could work with sizingYeah, you know you can be somebody who yeah, you know who's used to spending a lot of money?Maybe you have a change in your financial situationAnd now you got to put the brakes on it that can be a tough situation the saving, you knowSome people are just kind of natural savers, you knowthey they're happy to put money away and some people it's it's a real chore and then giving I meanThat's one of those things that I thinkKind of really adds purpose to your your life in generalYou know, what what you do with you know, what you have is a big part of itYeah, I agree in giving is I mean it might be giving to charities and supporting organizationsbut where I see it with clients more is giving tokids or giving to family members and and there isLimits or if you want to be conscious of that and it feels goodSupporting someone but you also don't want to enable them or there's balances with that as wellOkaySo I guess next we'll watch another a little bit of this video where he kind of explains the the three different skillsLearning to enjoy money falls under spending learning to enjoy life with your moneyWhich is kind of what your questions about the second one saving? And learn to save money for emergencies for college for retirement to change your family tree to build wealthand learn to investYou learn to ride the investment waves like we've had in the stock market in the last couple weeksright andgivingthe power of generosity to completely change you when you learn to give asThe natural rhythm of your life it changes everythingAlright, so overall I would say it sounds like pretty good adviceIt's it's very general and maybe a little bit of an oversimplification of some, you know, kind of more complexinternal thoughts and emotions that you know, we all have but I meanIt's a good way to kind of look at it and balancing different different things and that that's you knowCertainly part of what we try to do as financial planners. Just help people find that right balanceso, you know, we we certainly have clients where theyHave more than enough money to spend on splurge as if they want to or you knowTake a trip or whatever it is, and they have a really hard time of letting that goThere's there's always kind of that fear of, you know, can I can I afford to do this? What if some you know something comes up?So, you know being able to kind of balance that and then something else you talked about in the video is how giving can sometimesHelp youJustif...

Mignon Fogarty has spent years helping others sort out the extremely peculiar grammar of the English language. But in the course of her research on how to navigate the weirdness of English, she learned the why of the weirdness of English.Did you know that egregious once meant outstandingly good? Or that the sport badminton comes from an English manor with a love of peculiar sports? Or that many of the words in the Oxford Dictionary of English got there from the suggestions of a serial killer? But the strangeness doesn't stop there. In today's interview Mignon tells us such stories asThe same person who came up with the rule that we shouldn't end a sentence with a preposition also said we shouldn't refer to children as "who" because they aren't rational beingsNoah Webster's first failed dictionary went too far with spelling reform. He included "wimmen" for "women" and "tung" for "tongue" and everybody hated it.The origin of certain phrases (run of the mill, beyond the pale, by the wayside)

Nobody's Property: Living on the Remains of a Life in Calfornia

In Tübingen the houses sit along the River Neckar like nineteenth-century ladies on lounge chairs with flowing skirts and big hats: they look comfortable and bourgeois and unassailable. Like most of Germany. From the bridge over the river you can see a tower, painted yellow now, where the poet Hölderlin went crazy for 36 years: a long, slow burn that might, in other circumstances, be called life. This is where he wrote these words, which I found quoted by Paul Auster in The Invention of Solitude: The lines of life are as various as roads or asThe limits of the mountains are, and what we areDown here, in harmonies, in recompense,In peace for ever, a god will finish there. On the opposite side of the river is a park where I walked with my father under plane trees two hundred years old.
