Dear listeners, the summer is almost over, but it's hot at the Flame ON! round table! The whole crew is back together as Pat Da Bear, Beejay, Bryan, and Erik are all back to dish the dirt and gab about the pop culture topics that are tingling their tootsies. Before they dive into the topics of the month, they chat about the weather (yes, again!) and the passing of the icon, Dolly Parton. From there, they put on their mouse ears and join the Disney company to discuss some major announcements from D23 including the Kingdom Hearts anime as well as the new worlds, more Avengers: Doomsday footage, the X-Men casting, and much more. From there they hop into the movie theater to chat about Obsession before heading to the Home Box Office (now Max) to chat about the premier of Lanterns. Closing out the conversation, it's time for some music as they boys chat about Carly Rae Jepsen's upcoming album, Day and Night. Got thoughts about the topics? Let the boys know what you think! Now it's time to sit back and get ready to Flame ON!Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/flameon. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
300 Folgen! Was waren unsere persönlichen Highlights? Also empfehlt uns weiter.

In a monumental week for music news, Annie and Nick sit down to discuss their thoughts on Madonna's long-awaited Confessions II – after months of worrying it might be anticlimactic, what do they think about the album? And Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce had one of the most musically relevant weddings of all time but what should we learn from their rumoured choice of first dance song? And are there any rules we should stick to for wedding playlists? Plus, Wonderwall is having a moment in the 2026 World Cup, could Oasis get involved if England make the Final? Annie and Nick also speak to the incredible producer and musician, James Ellis Ford, about his upcoming album. James has produced albums for Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, Florence and the Machine, Jessie Ware, Fontaines D.C., Carly Rae Jepsen, the Pet Shop Boys, and so many more. He talks to Annie and Nick about how he works with artists to create truly brilliant music, and how it was to make this latest solo album in a completely isolated and daunting environment – a hospital room. Plus, is James worried about how AI will change the way music producers have to work? Lost in Another World is out on 14th August (Nick's birthday) Get in touch with Annie and Nick! Absolute pop genius from a song that wasn't supposed to be pop at all, and a cover that's a terrible fit which helps to make it even more awesome. Call Me Maybe, originally by Carly Rae Jepsen, covered by Leo Moraccioli. Outro music is We Are Young, by Fun, just to remind you that the bar was high in 2012.

We're Making The Most Of The Night as we review and rank Emotion, the 80s-infused pop record from Canadian songwriter and actress Carly Rae Jepsen! After we just met her (and that was crazy) back in 2011, Carly was struggling to shed the bubblegum pop reputation she gained with Call Me Maybe. After retreating from the spotlight, acting on Broadway, and writing a scrapped folk record, Emotion was her attempt to make something different. It proved to be a critical success and paved the way for the next era of her career with big singles like Run Away With Me and I Really (Really Really Really Really Really) Like You... but is this album Our Type?Let's Get Lost in her Canadian Idol roots! James & Connor talk about previous opinions of her work (can't judge her for that), celebrate CRJ's 40th and 44/100ths birthday, and give these songs a powerful listen. The Mixtaper is giving us Boy Problems in Fact Or Spin, where we'll learn about her growing collection of weaponry, a secret Maybe List, and a deceptive signature from "the boss man." Between the pop anthems and powerful ballads, find out if this record can stir up our E•MO•TIONS and redeem our premature opinions of her music.Did you wish CRJ a Happy Birthday? Do you have Boy Problems too? Would you ever try to trick the Boss Man? Let us know how you felt about Call Me Maybe in the comments or on socials, and tune in next time for another high-flying episode!Keep Spinning at www.SpinItPod.com!Thanks for listening!0:00 Intro3:29 About Carly Rae Jepsen9:15 Call Me Maybe12:42 About Emotion26:04 Awards & Accolades26:50 Fact Or Spin28:19 The Fandom Armed Her34:44 Carly Rae Jepsen Armed The Fandom40:35 She Has A "Maybe List"45:11 She Takes Her Contracts To The Boss Man51:12 Album Art52:14 Run Away With Me56:10 Emotion58:10 I Really Like You1:00:58 Gimmie Love1:01:44 All That1:03:02 Boy Problems1:05:01 Making The Most Of The Night1:06:02 Your Type1:07:27 Let's Get Lost1:08:35 LA Hallucinations1:09:40 Warm Blood1:10:53 When I Needed You1:12:00 Final Spin Hosted on Acast. This week's Mixtape Rewind takes us back to Season 1 when Instagram picked our summer soundtrack, and we just tried to keep up. We asked listeners to send their best summer songs, then built a real mixtape out of the chaos: 12 tracks that feel like heat haze, long evenings, and that first day when summer finally clicks into place. Along the way, we shout out the people who submitted picks and admit where we couldn't resist sneaking in a few of our own.The fun part is how quickly “summer music” stops being simple. We get nostalgic with LFO's “Summer Girls” and the oddly unforgettable lyrics that still scream 1999, then jump to Sylvan Esso's “Rooftop Dancing” and talk about why rooftops are basically the city version of a pool. Weezer's “Feels Like Summer” brings that bittersweet edge, and from there we keep pulling on the thread of sunny songs that hide something darker underneath.Lorde's “Solar Power” nails the new-release summer vibe, The Kinks' “Sunny Afternoon” turns out to be way more cynical than it sounds, and Childish Gambino's “Feels Like Summer” smuggles climate change anxiety into a laid-back groove. We round it out with true summer essentials like DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince's “Summertime,” a pure-pop hit from Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen, a “Constructive Summer” pep talk from The Hold Steady, and a cover-song detour with The Ataris and “Kokomo” before Poison closes the night with “Nothing But A Good Time.”One more tease: there's no Bruce Springsteen on the main mix, and yes, we noticed. Hit play, share this with a friend who hoards playlists, and leave a review if you want more listener-built mixes. What's the one song you swear belongs on every summer playlist? You can find the mix here on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2xecia1iK9SH9fpDGGyElY?si=60cde1613e264ad01. After another long hiatus, you know it would have to be something really good to bring us back. And what's better right now than Heated Rivalry? We do our usual chat about this wonderful Canadian romance series, talking production, context, music, and a deep dive into the characters, performances, and cultural zeitgeist of the gay hockey show. We also talk about the origins of the series in fanfic, the romance genre as a whole, and some of the writing and production elements we loved the most.* As always we're indebted to many discussions that came earlier, since we are so far behind the cultural discussion curve. Some of the discussions/analyses we watched on this one include: The Cultural Power of Heated Rivalry by M.E. Berkshire Thoughts on Straight Men Reacting to Heated Rivalry by Therese Why HEATED RIVALRY F*CKS So Hard | Intimacy In Hollywood by Taylor Carmen One Scene Changed the Perception of the Show by Spica The Real Reason Heated Rivalry Has Women Obsessed by Therese why heated rivalry has women in a chokehold - the feminine gaze explained by Laura Elise Why Gay Men Are Talking About Heated Rivalry by The Gay Men Going Deeper Podcast * As well as those we hated, such as the heinous lack of Carly Rae Jepsen in the soundtrack. Additional Notes: As noted early on in the episode we are working with new equipment which has the *potential* to produce better quality stuff, but we are still working out some of the kinks with it, so there are a few issues throughout. Hopefully we will be able to clean these issues up in future episodes. Intro and Outro music is by The Impossibulls, as always. This CBC interview with Jacob Tierney is also really great to watch - it came out after we recorded so it was not in our list of influences for this one, but gets into some of the same topics we cover.

1. Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen – Good Time @ The Midsummer Station (2012) 2. 飞鱼秀小飞 – The Late Night DJ @ #01 (2014) 3. (2003) 8. I Really Like You - Carly Rae Jepsen
The two great "justice for" pop songs of the 2010s. The two songs that created the lane of popheads' cult heroes that dominates the forums. But only one can stand supreme so which one shall rule, Robyn's "Dancing on My Own" or Carly Rae Jepsen's "Run Away with Me"?
