Four-time Grammy Award winner Antonio Sánchez joins Alex to talk about his latest release, Shift, and how he connected with the incredible list of musicians who contributed to the album. The two discuss Antonio's recent move to Spain, his approach to building drum parts, and where he got the inspiration to use the term “Bad Hombre”. Antonio Sanchez began playing the drums at age five and performed professionally in his early teens in Mexico's rock, jazz and latin scenes. Since moving to New York City in 1999, Antonio has become one of the most sought-after drummers in the international jazz scene. One of the most revered collaborators with guitarist/composer Pat Metheny, Antonio has also recorded and performed with many other most prominent artists like Chick Corea, Gary Burton, Michael Brecker, Charlie Haden and Toots Thielmans. Sánchez's new album SHIFT (Bad Hombre Vol. II) on Warner Music features Sánchez playing virtually every instrument on the album — in addition to being its producer. Too much Tay Tay & Travis, Mel Tucker won't go away, Naked Attraction on Max, Donna D'Errico's sending pulses racing, Sen Bob. Menendez excuses, the best charting instrumental songs, and Matthew Perry has a new girl & is doing just fine. Trudi is back from her east coast vacation. It was good except for the POS AirBnb & broken down rental car. Some people are saying AirBnB is played out. Drew did a deep dive on the best charting instrumental songs. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are hot and heavy... and dominating everything in the media. She celebrated his touchdown, snuck out of the suite in a popcorn machine, and then left in his convertible to rent out a whole restaurant. Who knew Bill Belichick had jokes? Mel Tucker sends yet another letter to MSU saying they shouldn't have fired him. Former NFL running back Brandon Jacobs agrees. After all, Jacobs is convinced Mel was set up by the University. Naked Attraction on dropped on Max. It's a dating show, where everyone's nude & some are "lifting off the bag". Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde have settled their child custody case and something seems off. Everybody loved the show House even though every episode was the same. Dave Mathews is going to be canceled someday for his appearance on the show. Kevin Sorbo is mad that Hollywood actors aren't manly enough. Especially those high paid femmes: The Rock, Vin Diesel, Ryan Reynolds and Mark Walhberg. The writers strike in Hollywood is finally over. Both Trump and Biden are going to town to make the UAW strike all about them. The only thing that could possibly stop Vince Neil from rocking the OK state fair is gunshots. The Global Citizens concert happened and no one noticed. Red Hot Chili Peppers were the only set worth watching. Trudi threatened to leave her fridge. The fridge had second thoughts. The new replacement fridge is very sad and looking for a new home. Donna D'Errico is sending pulses racing again. She looks good, just not like Donna D'Errico. Matthew Perry is doing just fine, despite all evidence to the contrary. He even has a new girlfriend. RIP David McCallum from The Man From U.N.C.L.E. London cops have opened a criminal investigation into the Russell Brand allegations. Drew dumped Jennifer Anniston. Megan Rapinoe has not sung her final National Anthem for the USWNT. New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez has been indicted (again) for bribery charges. He has a "press conference" where he didn't take any question. Former NJ Governor Jim McGreevey, who resigned because of a sex scandal, is back baby! The topic is, “what do you listen to while you work with clay?” There were so many responses that I won't be able to read them all! But if you are in need of some new audio content there will be plenty of ideas in this episode. I thought this would be a great topic because I'm always looking for interesting things to listen to while my hands are busy with clay. Unfortunately it has taken me forever to get this episode recorded so most of the following responses were from a very long time ago. Thank you for listening to THIS podcast. I hope you are currently working with clay as you listen. A short disclaimer: I will include a few clips of some of the great suggestions. I don't own the copyright to any of these works of audio but they are presented here for educational purposes only. Now that the boring stuff is out of the way, let's hear what other potters and ceramic artists listen to as they work with clay. Silence A few people including Pubali909, and Ingridj1957, enjoy the peace and quiet and listen to the sound of the process or complete silence. Audiobooks A few people including Nicolaashley1101, Moequintana1, Anna C-N all mentioned audiobooks. You have probably heard of audible.com, Amazon's audiobook site. You pay a monthly subscription fee and get to choose a certain number of audiobooks every month. There are also some other similar sites. But did you know there are resources out there that offer FREE audiobooks? One great free resource I've found is called Hoopla. I get free access from my local library. I can can borrow digital items such as ebooks, audiobooks, movies, and music. I think they raised the number to 10 per month during the pandemic! The selection isn't massive but there is enough to keep me listening. I have also started using an app called Libby which connects to the Indiana Digital Library. I get access through my local library. They have a much bigger selection but only have a limited number of each item so you may have to get on the waitlist for certain items, just like a physical library. One more free resource is Librivox. It offers free audio versions of public domain books. Lots of old classics available. If you are interested I'll put a link to some of these audiobook resources in the show notes. Podcasts Podcasts seem to be a popular choice for a few reasons. Most of them are free. I LOVE music!!! It certainly soothes the savage beast within me, and I imagine it does the same for many of ya'll as well ;) I've never been much of a "Bucket List" kind of gal, yet it was hard to not resonate with the idea when an opportunity to fullfill a desired earthly experience recently presented itself to me. In this episode you'll hear about the musical experience that became the first item added to AND checked off my newly created Bucket List ;) Whether or not your a fan of this particular band, I gently suggest that you envision YOUR favorite band and remind yourself that YOU TOO can have a similar experience, should you decide it's important enough. That being said, what's more important than allowing yourself some time to truly experience some of what this life has to offer? AND if music in general is not your thing, than I heavily suggest that you replace music with whatever ARE your bucket list desires and get busy checking off items :) ROCK ON!! WUCF's June artist for ‘In the Key of Latin Jazz' is Nestor Torres. Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, his father bought him his first drum set at age five. But eventually, he chose the flute despite his father's concerns. He moved to New York at eighteen to study classical and jazz. His unique melodic and danceable sound is shaped by his time studying the ‘Charanga'. Over the past 40 years, his recordings have garnered multiple Grammy nominations and one Latin Grammy award, achieving notable status both onstage and with his commitment to the youth. Both his solo recordings and collaborations mark the work of a great artist with a crossover fusion of sounds. He has worked with diverse artists such as Gloria Estefan, Kenny Loggins, Dave Mathews, Herbie Hancock, and Tito Puente. Now residing in Miami, Torres continues to contribute to the music that lights up his life. “Thank You, Willie” is his latest record – dedicated to Willie Payne.

This is Dawn's first solo interview! Check it out! Saving Abel is a Southern rock band with catchy hooks and heavy riffs founded by Jared Weeks and Jason Null. Their first single “Addicted” breaking on to the scene, climbing it's way quickly into a cross over hit from mainstream rock to Billboard Hot 100 and Top 40. With millions of sales under their belt, it's easy to see how their self titled debut album charted on Billboard's Top 50 and became RIAA certified platinum. Their debut album delivered two more #1 singles with 18 days and Drowning (Face Down), across multiple charts and solidified this bands name in rock. Their sophomore album “Miss America” did not disappoint and followed down the same path their debut record had set. “Miss America” debuted in the top 25 albums and produced similar charting singles with “Stupid Girl (Only in Hollywood) and “The Sex is Good”. After five Top 10 Billboard charting releases, Saving Abel went back into the studio for their third record “Bringing Down The Giant”. They released the title track off that album finding success and breaking top 10 on multiple charts. Weeks and Null both felt a pull to revisit songs they had written prior to Saving Abel. Which then became "Shade of Grace - Twenty Year Songs" EP. Saving Abel have received multiple awards from MTV, VH1, Fuse, BMG and Music Choice. “Addicted” won most played song of the year. Saving Abel is currently in the studio recording their forthcoming album with a release of an Essentials record this fall. Cape Town, the V&A Waterfront: Sheri and I are killing time as we wait for the departure of our boat to Robben Island to visit Nelson Mandela's prison cell. We turn a corner in the huge indoor market and there they are. I'd read about them, but never seen them for real. I felt like a kid in a candy store. The man in the shop smiled. He knew what I was feeling. You don't have to be a great player to appreciate the coolest guitar in the world. “Can I try?” I said. The man nodded, “Sure man.” I was about to join the list of people who had played a ‘Township guitar'. (Bruce Spingsteen, Bono- U2, Brian May, Roger Taylor, Peter Gabriel, Dave Mathews, Dozi, David Kramer, Neo Mnyunga- Black sunshine, Chris Rea, Mark Knopfler, David Knopfler, SpyraGyra, Rob Harris- Jamiroquai, Chad Hollistar, and many more own a Township guitar.) That was the first time I met Dani Ngwenya and his Township guitars, live in person. Of all the people I have interviewed, none surpass Dani's passion, dedication and love for his life and work. But his story is about so much more than the ‘musical works of art' he and his team hand-make. Dani's story inextricably links with the early Khoisan African tribes. It is a story about freedom, self expression and the commitment to playing life to the beat of your own drum, the rhythm of your own guitar. As ever, I hope you love this episode, and please take the time to share it with someone you think might benefit. Until next time. Lots of love. Matt and the team x

Join me as I sit down with my friend, the incomparable Tawatha Agee, as we talk about her extended career in the music business and her numerous contributions. We talk about her writing and her singing on both stage and screen. We cover some of the people she has worked with, including Aretha Franklin, Lenny Kravitz, Sting, Bob Dylan, Phyllis Hyman, Teddy Pendergrass, Luther Vandross, Stephanie Mills, Ray Charles, James Mtume, and so, so many more. So please help me welcome the most famous singer in the music business whose name you may not know.
Uncle Joey first made his appearance during episode 17 "Boomers & Zoomers" and now he's back to defend his undisputed title as the resident pop-culture expert - but Garf & Beter arent going down without a fight! Speaking of fights, Po is still open to a charity bout with Tobey Maguire, but it's doubtful that will ever happen. Also, hi gummies, sports, drinking and other random nonsense.

Woooo doggy! This week Casey is joined by Comedian and lonely boy Brendan Sagalow. We discuss the fuckery that was Woodstock '99 and test out a conspiracy theory about Fred Durst. We also absolutely run bits into the ground and have a ton of laughs while doing so. *Spolier!* Don't have Rage Against the Machine open for Dave Mathews Produced by Dear Media.
Its goddamn humpday so why not get your ass fucking humped with more Goin' Deep Show than you can handle. This show is fucking packed with some classic stories, some catchup time with some show mainstays and deep dive into some of the best in pissing women off. Kid relives the Pizza Roll night with some fatsos at Juices house, We go over some epic Eskimo brother stories. Gdub jumps in mid way and we wrap it all up with JMac and Spydermonkey throwing out porn and figuring out how much its worth along with A really large mole.
