Ebullient keyboardist for Eggy talks about the drive for sonic expansion with his brothers.
Bob Doll, chief investment officer at Crossmark Global Investments, foresees some slowdown in consumer activity this year — with middle-income consumers beginning to struggle — and he says that will lead to a sluggish economy with higher unemployment. He expects inflation to remain sticky, which will push the Federal Reserve to make fewer rate cuts — he says it's possible they make no rate reductions this year at all — though he does believe the economy can stave off a recession. He reviews his 10 forecasts for the year ahead in The Big Interview. But he's not the only guest gazing into the crystal ball for 2025, as Greg McBride, chief financial analyst at BankRate.com, talks about what to expect from interest rates on everything from mortgages to savings accounts over the next 12 months. And in the Market Call, David Allen of the Octane All-Cap Value Energy ETF talks about finding under-the-radar issues in the energy sector.
After four centuries of heaven's silence and Israel's longing and waiting for the Messiah, there is an answer, a stirring in the courts of God the Father. But this answer was nothing like the prayers that had been prayed during that time. The timing, the place, the people involved, all failed to match expectations, to be acceptable. To the religious rulers, all aspects of God's answer were a scandalous affront. But to those called to serve in this new, divine drama, the answer was life transforming, birthing fresh hope, a deep peace, and beyond all, a joy they'd not known existed. Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for May 24, 2024 is: ebullient ih-BULL-yunt adjective If someone or something is appealingly lively and enthusiastic, they may also be described as ebullient. // Akua's ebullient personality made her the life of the party. See the entry > Examples: "[Les] McCann, who would later serve as a drummer and horn player in his high-school marching band, soon developed a love for the great symphonies and for distinctive rhythm and blues vocal stylists such as Bullmoose Jackson, Billy Eckstine and Louis Jordan. But it was the ebullient gospel music he heard at his local Baptist church that touched him the deepest. 'That was the foundation, the basis for all of my knowledge,' says McCann, whose rollicking piano work still bears a strong gospel tinge." — George Varga, The San Diego Union-Tribune, 4 Jan. 2024 Did you know? Someone who is ebullient is bubbling over with enthusiasm, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise that ebullient comes from the Latin verb ebullire, which means "to bubble out." When ebullient was first used in the late 1500s its meaning hewed closely to its Latin source: ebullient meant "boiling" or "bubbling," and described things like boiling water and boiling oil instead of someone's bubbly personality. Only later did the word's meaning broaden beyond describing the liveliness of a boiling liquid to encompass emotional liveliness and enthusiasm.

This week's installment of Badass Records Podcast is Episode #51, and I'm pleased as punch to announce that my guest is the one, the only -- Eva Saviano.I know we touched on it in our conversation, but -- to be sure -- I wanted to peek in a few spots to make sure I had her professional title correct, and while I didn't find conviction within my search, I did find one of the best bios I've ever seen in my life, so I'll share how she has described her self and add a few details after:"Uncommonly frank and, frankly, uncommon. A sucker for the written word from a very young age, an owner of The Word Lover's Dictionary, a grammar and punctuation cowgirl, enthusiastic copy editor, bold copy writer, occasional blogger, careful proofreader, and all-around word nerd.I lead with a friendly attitude, a sense of humor, meticulous attention to detail, snappy style, and pen in hand. Effervescent. Ebullient. Energetic."I've known this gal for the better part of 20 years. I read that little passage, and all I have to say is, Can confirm. In addition, Eva is a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a friend. She's a girlfriend, an empath, a tenderhearted loyalist, and the quickest dang wit this side of The Everglades. She's also someone you should yield to in rollerskating traffic, but that's a story for a different episode.I'm grateful that she took a chunk of an evening over her holiday visit to sit down with me and bullshit about life and music. It's possible that the list of her favorite music is endless, but we -- nevertheless -- talked about a few of her favorite records, and they are these:Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill (1995)Dilate (1996), Ani DiFrancoWeezer's Pinkerton (1996)When the Pawn Hits... (1999), Fiona AppleNeko Case's The Worse Things Get... (2013)There's a reason I keep doing these with next to no traction and very little merch' sales (Note: Swag for sale!), and it's because I love it. Putting something together like each of these 51 episodes is fun and challenging, and well -- ya' can't beat the company, really. This episode is my new favorite. Seriously. Such a hoot. Many a laugh. And just plain good conversation. So, I hope you'll check it out. Peace and love to you and yours. Cheers.copyright disclaimer: I do not own the rights to the intro/outro audio. They are clips I poached from a song called, "Right Down the Line," which comes from Gerry Rafferty's City by City (1978), c/o Parlophone Records, LTD. I can't tell you that City by City is a badass record because I've only listened to this track (about 467 times) and "Baker Street," but it is one of the badassest songs ever recorded.

It is no secret that we live in the age of technology and information. Albeit there are many pros about having this data at our fingertips, there are also many cons. One major downside to “news at the click of a button” is our human brain is not equipped to absorb and successfully process at the levels we are exposed to. Facts and opinions start to intermingle and suddenly, we don't even know what is true or what to believe anymore. This situation breeds low morale, zaps our energy, and causes even the most positive people to be more negative. This is a serious issue because the world does not need more negative things or negative people. The world needs more ebullient people to make a positive impact. Tune in now to listen to our host Andy Thornton, CEO of the Greater Peoria Family YMCA and his guest Ben Watt, Founder of Next Step as they talk about the weekly winning word ebullient. Bucolic. Sunny. Cheerful. Joyous. Folksy. Ebullient. Thrilling. These are all words that I found while researching Dvorak's 8th symphony. Dvorak's gift for writing the most gorgeous of melodies is on full display in his 8th symphony, a piece that has been charming listeners ever since its very first performances. It is, on its surface, an uncomplicated piece, bursting at the seams with melody after melody after melody, almost mirroring one of Brahms' greatest one-liners, where he referred to his summer country home as a place where melodies were so heavily present thatt one had to be careful to avoid tripping on them! The overriding characteristic of this 8th symphony is joy, from its childlike key of G Major, to its raucous use of folk music, and even its smiling through tears slow movement. Very often on this show I try to take pieces that are quite complicated and break them down for you to show you how to follow their twists and turns despite their complexities. But today, I'm going to do the opposite. Today, I'm going to take a piece that is, on its surface, quite simple, and I'm going to show you how this symphony is not quite as simple as it seems. It is a piece full of invention and of the scintillating energy of trying out new ideas. As Dvorak said, he would try to make this symphony ”different from the other symphonies, with individual thoughts worked out in a new way.” So today on the show we're going to talk about how this symphony is different from other symphonies, and also how Dvorak constructs his chains of melodies that add up to the joyful whole of this piece, though tinged with the melancholy that is almost always present with Dvorak. Yan, like a good champagne, has a sparkling personality. We very much enjoyed chatting with her in Portugal about her life, Injuries with the practice, and learning to thrive despite suffering from an autoimmune disorder. Keeping in mind that the vast majority of yoga practitioners are female, we asked Yan what it's like to be a female teacher in the Mysore room, and her personal experience with the unconscious bias towards women (or against women) that we all seem to continue to carry. Yan has a fun and interesting story, being invited to join Mensa as a young teen, her time as a Viagra saleswoman, and finally spending 80 months practicing in Mysore, India, with Sharath. You'll love hearing about how she invited him and his family out for Christmas mimosas on her first trip to Mysore! And her journey of becoming his student all the way to having him perform her marriage ceremony in Portugal. Yan is ebullient. And, this bubbly effervescence does define her well. As Crunchbase News points out, prior to 2021 there was no single quarter in which $100 billion or more was transacted.Putting this in perspective: Crunchbase projected that around $322 billion was invested in all of 2018, the previous high water mark. In other words, more venture capital has been invested in the past 6 months than was invested in the entire year of 2018.Supergiant venture deals ($100M+) continue to dominate:According to Crunchbase News, supergiant deal volume in Q3 2021 was up 97% from the same period in 2020.Supergiant deals also accounted for the largest share of total dollar volume—64%—ever.Let's get into some of the numbers:Seed stage. Crunchbase projects that $6.5 billion was invested in angel and seed-stage deals worldwide in Q3 2021, which is up 47% from the same quarter in 2020. With new, multi-hundred million dollar funds from the likes of Andreessen Horowitz, NfX, and Greylock coming online last quarter, it's likely that pre-seed and seed funding totals are going to continue to increase over the coming quarters.Early stage. Crunchbase projects that $49.3 billion was invested in early-stage deals in Q3 2021, which is up a whopping 104% from Q3 2020. Deal counts are projected to be up 19% from the same period last year. This is very good news, considering that a year or two ago there were concerns that seed and early-stage deal volume was declining, which could've resulted in downstream deal flow constraints in future years.Late stage and Technology growth. Crunchbase projects that $104.2 billion was invested in late-stage and technology growth rounds in Q3 2021, up YoY by 69%. Deal and dollar volume slipped slightly from Q2 2021 but there's nothing notable about that; dollar volume is still above $100 billion for the second quarter in a row.Exits:Public market investors continue to invest in IPOs, direct listings, and SPACs. There may be some concerns about the quality of companies going public these days, however.M&A market keeps puttering along too.Big numbers raise big questionsDespite the economic hardship of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and uncertainty about the future, public markets are near all-time highs and the VC market is experiencing its biggest-ever boom. At some point, the punch at this party will either run out or someone is going to take away the punchbowl. When will this happen? With so much capital going into late-stage deals these days, will there be sufficient appetite by public investors or the M&A market to get liquidity for all these companies over the coming few years? Will macroeconomic factors in China, Europe, or the United States change the market dynamic in a material way in Q4 2021? Soprano Jenna Siladie has earned warm acclaim, praised by the New York Times for her "endearing sweet voice", and hailed by the European press as having a “both warm and shimmering tone". The 2019/20 season has heralded in a string of successes, including the role debut as Marguerite in Faust, as well as Arianna in the Handel opera Giustino: "The soprano Jenna Siladie, who in the role of Arianna shows vocally, why she is the star of the young ensemble." In 2018 Jenna joined the prestigious ensemble at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna, Austria, singing the lead heroine of Élisabeth in Verdi's Don Carlos. Der Standard noted, “the most harmonious performance of the production goes to Jenna Siladie whose beautiful Élisabeth combines elegance, fullness, and vocal warmth and luminosity.” In the autumn of 2017, she made her Germany debut as a guest at Oper Wuppertal, singing Gutrune in Götterdämmerung, being praised for singing “with passion and sweet soprano sound which is seldom heard” (Die Deutsche Bühne). She saw the addition of two new roles in the spring of 2017 as Adina in L'elisir d'amore with St. Petersburg Opera Company and then Lauretta in Opera Company of Middlebury's production of Il trittico. Ms. Siladie's additional operatic credits include Micaela in Carmen, Iolanta in Iolanta (Tchaikovsky), Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro. She made her NYC debut with Gotham Chamber Opera in 2014, performing the respective leading roles of Popelka and Armande in a double bill production of Bohuslav Martinů's operas Veselohra na mostě and Alexandre Bis. Other NYC highlights include the leading role of Léontine in the U.S premiere of the Chevalier de Saint-Georges' 1780 opera L'amant anonyme (March 2016). A frequent concert and recital soloist, Ms. Siladie made her Carnegie Hall debut in June 2017 as soloist in John Rutter's Mass of the Children and has been a favorite guest with Carolina Philharmonic. Further concert appearances throughout the United States have seen her in Santa Fe NM, New Haven CT, and Vero Beach Opera in Florida. She has also appeared in Lieder programs throughout Austria. Hot take: the first five Bobbettes records are perfect rock'n'roll records. As proof, we give two 45s by these Harlem Queens a spin and it's a sure bet their heps! will put some pep in your step. First up is 1957's familiar hit, "Mr. Lee" (2:00) Formerly a diss track, this one has pure rock ‘n' roll joy! Guitar stings!! Ebullient backing vocals!!! It's an all-time great, but don't overlook the B-side, "Look at the Stars" (58:45), which is a Caribbean-flavoured dance tune with a vivid vocal performance and picante percussion. Accidentally third (Weldon mixed his A's & B's), is "Zoomy", from a 1958 recording (1:17:42). The girls give you some great first date ideas, but you might get the hiccups and handclaps! A sax solo from King Curtis seals the song's greatness. Finally, fourth is "Rock and Ree-ah-Zole" (1:47:33) - a song that will confound squares with its hep talk and honkin' heps (and another blast from King Curtis). The Bobbettes mean business!!

How far can natural law stretch in society? What is the use of natural law to the Christian? Natural law are the laws that are self-evident to all humans as being endowed by their creator by virtue of their being made in God's image, however, this law is only as good as it matches up to revealed laws of God found in scripture. Christians should understand natural law but it has been lost to 21st century Christianity almost entirely. Hopefully this will help get you started in understanding such an important topic. Some application of natural law include, rights afforded to mankind, international law, laws of war, etc. Key Texts: Romans 1,2 and 10 Inquiries to forthekingpodcast@gmail.com --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rocky-ramsey/support

This joyous Friday episode starts with praise and thanks for the return of golf this weekend with the skins match at Seminole on Sunday. Brendan and Andy begin their preview with some reflective thoughts on why they’re so happy about this event and the larger meaning and impact it could have, for the obvious priority of raising money for Covid charity, but also for the game of golf. They preview some key holes to watch at Seminole, revel in the aesthetics of these players carrying their own bags in a world-class setting, and make a friendly wager (that wager leads to a lengthy diversion and critique of the new apparel offerings from PXG). A news segment touches on Rory committing to play the first three PGA Tour events, the PGA’s return to Quail Hollow, the Medalist Match TV crew including Sir Charles, and initial thoughts on the new PGA Tour video game (and its course rota). Then, in honor (or dishonor) of what would have been PGA Championship week, there are two short Flashlight segments to the year the PGA switched to stroke play and the year the PGA melted under the August sun in South Florida.

This Overshare is an in-studio conversation with film director and creative director Elena Parasco (@elenaparasco). Host Justin Gignac (@justingignac) chat's with Elena about her burgeoning directing career and the motivation behind it. Instead of complaining about the lack of content that represented women in sport in a way that relates to her, she decided to make her own. The result is a growing body of work that examines sport and play through the female gaze. Disrupting those traditional, cliché stereotypes of sports imagery that we’re used to and making work that celebrates more accessible female role models. Elena is tenacious and resilient when trying to get her ideas out into the world, whether for herself or for clients like Nike, Air Jordan, A$AP Rocky, Calvin Klein, and Guess. She touches on how her non-traditional background studying cognitive science and psychology has informed her creative career and filmmaking. And is adamant about the necessity to have women in the room when creating content. In this episode, you will learn about embracing the doubt of others as motivation and how to find happiness in small wins. Especially, when going through challenging times in your career. Mom & daughter discuss "Big Thoughts from the Mini House." In each episode they discuss how to express yourself in a positive way. Episodes include a vocabulary word, organizational skills, and positive friendship skills all about a related topic. This week: ebullient, a the perfect amount of good feelings.
This is episode 7, recorded at Maestro's Cafe.
The prefixes e- and ex-, besides meaning “out,” can also act as intensive prefixes. These prefixes can effectively be translated as “thoroughly” to highlight their intensive function. For instance, the prefix e-, such as in elude, means to “thoroughly” avoid someone, whereas the intensive prefix ex- in exclaim means to “thoroughly” shout out.Like this? Build a competent vocabulary with Membean.
What in the hell does "ebullient" mean? We ponder this and more in this weeks episode.
