Michael Carr's story challenges us: Are we truly living, or just surviving our own success?Michael achieved everything he thought he wanted: fashion design success, recognition, the lifestyle of his dreams. Then at 35, it all crashed. Business partnership dissolved. Apartment gone. Friends vanished. But this devastating breakdown became his breakthrough. Growing up on a North Carolina tobacco farm, Michael spent decades proving his worth while crippling anxiety shadowed his success. "Everything I ever wanted came true," he reveals. "And that's when everything broke down." Through his Vis-Ability Alignment Method, Michael now helps others dissolve unconscious patterns in days rather than decades. Stop managing triggers. Start releasing them. The difference? Freedom. Michael Carr—The Mind Alchemist—helps people discover and dissolve the unconscious patterns keeping them stuck, anxious, and disconnected. After nearly four decades managing teams of over 570 people in high-pressure environments, Michael appeared successful on the outside while battling crippling anxiety within. His breakthrough came from releasing—not managing—the hidden beliefs driving his resistance. Through his signature Vis-Ability Alignment Method, Michael guides clients to transform inner resistance into clarity and authentic connection in days rather than decades. He lives in California and offers transformational coaching at michaelcarrcoaching.com.About The Show: The Life in Transition, hosted by Art Blanchford focuses on making the most of the changes we're given every week. In 2012, Daniella Kallmeyer began her eponymous brand with $7,000 and a goal to create a line of elevated wardrobe staples. Fifteen years later, her ethos remains the same and she's getting her flowers for the brand she's built—in fact, this year Kallmeyer was nominated for Womenswear Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. On this episode, Daniella discusses bootstrapping her brand, what it was like in the room at the CFDA awards (hint: Rihanna was sitting next to her), and why she credits so much of her scrappiness to her time spent ghost-designing for QVC.

Diddy), is an American former rapper, record producer, and record executive. Born in Harlem, Combs worked as a talent director at Uptown Records before founding his own record label, Bad Boy Records, in 1993. He is credited with the discovery and development of musical artists such as the Notorious B. I. G., Mary J. Blige, and Usher, among others.Combs's debut studio album, No Way Out (1997), peaked atop the Billboard 200 and sold over 7 million copies in the US. Two of its singles, "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down" and "I'll Be Missing You", topped the Billboard Hot 100—the latter was the first hip-hop song to debut atop the chart. With his guest appearance on "Mo Money Mo Problems", Combs became the first solo artist to replace himself atop the chart. His second and third albums, Forever (1999) and The Saga Continues... (2001), both peaked at number two in the US. Collaborative singles "Bump, Bump, Bump" (2002) and "Shake Ya Tailfeather" (2003) made him the first rapper with five US number-one singles. Following the release of his US chart-topping fourth album Press Play (2006), Combs formed the musical trio Diddy – Dirty Money with R&B singers Kalenna Harper and Dawn Richard to release the collaborative album Last Train to Paris (2010). He independently released his fifth album, The Love Album: Off the Grid, in 2023.One of the world's wealthiest musical artists, Combs topped Forbes annual hip-hop rich list in 2014 and 2017. His accolades include three Grammy Awards, three BET Awards and two MTV Video Music Awards. He has worked as a producer for other media, including the reality television series Making the Band, and he starred in the films Made, Monster's Ball (both 2001) and Get Him to the Greek (2010). Combs launched the clothing retailer Sean John in 1998, for which he won Menswear Designer of the Year from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2004, having previously been nominated in 2000. He served as brand ambassador for the liquor brand Cîroc from 2007 to 2023, and co-founded the digital television network Revolt in 2013. In 2008, Combs became the first male rapper to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.In late 2023, Combs settled a high-profile sexual assault and abuse lawsuit filed by his former partner Cassie Ventura. Numerous lawsuits regarding sexual misconduct were filed in the following months, with several claimants alleging sexual assault and abuse by Combs between 1991 and 2009. In March 2024, several of Combs's properties were raided by the Department of Homeland Security, and that September he was charged with federal sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering. He pled not guilty and was denied bail three times. His trial began on May 5, 2025; on July 2, he was found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution, but not guilty on racketeering and sex trafficking charges. As of October 2025, he is incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution, Fort Dix. Before Jamie Haller launched her namesake shoe and apparel brand, she worked behind the scenes in the fashion industry in corporate retail. In the 2000s, she designed pieces for big brands of the era like Wet Seal, Guess, and Bebe. After learning the ins and outs of fashion production at a macro level, Haller left the corporate world to work for smaller brands where she had more creative control over her work, allowing her to hone her style as a designer. During the pandemic, she wanted to venture outside of what she knew and landed in a different realm of design: home renovation. Her eye for fashion translated well in the world of interiors, allowing her to gain clients quickly and make a name for herself in the space. Haller's love for trying new things also led her to a new category of fashion she hadn't yet conquered: shoes. In 2020, she launched her namesake shoe line and released her now-famous penny loafer style that has become an everyday staple for countless fashion insiders. She later returned to her roots when she expanded into apparel with a line she created with women like her in mind. Today, she's brought the many skills and talents she's acquired over the years together with her first storefront in Montecito, California, where you can shop her brand in an intimate space she designed herself.

Today it's very stream of conscious bonus mini episode. I've been thinking about Phoebe Philo's brand a lot lately. It's a brand with pieces that I am very attracted to. And, being someone interested and intrigued with how brands market themselves, there's definitely a lot that piques my interest about Philo. One thing that often gets my attention is the brand's approach to social media; it's so chill, almost like they - the brand, as well as the models showing the clothes - could care less. What we see are women simply getting on with their lives, while wearing Phoebe Philo and we get to watch.Ahead of the much-awaited Collection D, dropping early 2026, I wanted to talk and write about what I enjoy about Phoebe Philo, so I figured I'd put out a mini podcast and write it all down on Substack too. To help tell this story we're handing the hosting duties over to a familiar voice—our de facto fashion field corespondent—Vice President Fashion Director at Nordstrom, Rickie De Sole. Rickie takes the reins and dives into the history and influence of New York on the fashion industry with special guest Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA—the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
