[00:01:42] Last week the guys discussed using Inertia, and Jason tell us he's been doing more Inertia and messing with forms, “axios” is explained, and using validation. [00:10:18] Jason talks about showing some people what he's been doing with Inertia and someone asked him how he was going to handle flash. Jason tells us what he did, and Andrew shares some thoughts on this.[00:12:27] At Podia, Jason said they have a MutationObserver and what it does. Andrew tells us about the Shop Talk Show Podcast- Episode 471, where Dave Rupert talked about how a MutationObserver can lead to a memory leak. [00:14:45] We find out that Jason decided to bite the bullet and keep going with Inertia on an app, wanting to use Tailwind UI and all that, what Webpacker 5 has, what it does, and Andrew explains why they had to add that.[00:20:24] Jason tells us about how Webpacker 6 seems less in your face, like verbose as Webpacker 5, and he asks Andrew if that makes sense and if he's wrong about that. Andrew explains that they took away a lot of the magic, and the magic is what made it work out of the box for an average use case, and it's really easy to understand now.[00:25:20] Jason pulls up the docs, he sees react is supported, you need to add relevant packages, so he added Babel preset react, but it didn't configure anything. He asks Andrew if Babel just knows and Andrew helps him out. [00:28:37] Jason brings up Webpacker and mentions Andrew's “7 Part Series” on Webpacker 6, and he asks him some questions about it.[00:31:32] Andrew informs us that RubyGems has a Guides tab and he explains what it does.[00:34:18] Andrew talks about a Tweet he got regarding a repo he made back in 2018, which had Rails 6, React, Webpacker, and Tailwind. Also, he highly recommends reading through some of the Webpack docs to help you understand Webpack since it can be super frustrating. [00:43:20] Andrew has a really serious and bold statement he makes that he just had to get out of his system! ☺Panelists:Jason CharnesAndrew MasonSponsor:HoneybadgerLinks:Ruby RadarRuby Radar TwitterAxios-GitHubShop Talk Show Podcast-Episode 471-Perf as a job, Riverside vs Streamyard, Frontend Being Consumed, and How Much to Bill ClientsMutationObserver opportunity for memory leak #482-GitHubTailwindcss-Enabling JIT modeWebpacker 6: Upgrade Guide-Andrew Mason Webpacker-GitHubWebpacker React-GitHubRubyGems GuidesTo Pineapple or To Not: A Pizza Debate (Spizzico Italian Kitchen)

This podcast is about National Simple Week...no kidding. The guys who thought it up were...guys. Guys are simple. Women are complicated. Give a guy a roof over his head, enough to eat, and good sex, and he's happy. Women also need a roof over their heads, and enough to eat. But the roof overhead should be part of a mansion, complete with a handsome butler and a very hard working maid. Women also need lots of shoes, stylish jeans, the proper makeup, some diamonds, a relationship with a guy who's a good dancer, has a nice car, and has something that's six inches long, two inches wide, and drives her crazy...no...that's a description of hundred dollar bills. When she says, "We need" it means "I Want", when she says, "Do what you want" she means "You'll pay for this later." When she says, "Do you love me", she means she wants something really expensive. When she says, "How MUCH do you love me" she means "I did something today you proably won't like."If she says, "Can't we just be friends" she means "There's no way I'm going to let any part of my body touch any part of your body me again." When she says, "It's not you it's me", she means "It's you." When she says "Yes" it sometimes means "No". When she says "Maybe", it means no. When she says "No", that DEFINITELY means "No." In the beginng, the bible says God made the earth and rested. Then God made man and rested. Then God made woman and I think since then neither God nor man, has rested. That's why we need National Simple Week.

How Much do Flood Zones Really Matter? (LA 1531) Transcript: S Jack Butala: Steve and Jill here. Jill DeWit: Hey. S Jack Butala: Welcome to The Land Academy Show, entertaining land investment talk. I'm Steven Jack Butala. Jill DeWit: And I'm Jill DeWit, broadcasting from sunny, southern California. S Jack Butala: Today, Jill and I talk about the topic called how much do flood zones really matter? Jill DeWit: Are we still talking about this? S Jack Butala: What the heck are flood zones? Jill DeWit: Really? Is this really ... This is important? Yes, it is/however, is it worth spending weeks on this? Mm-mm (negative). We're going to talk about it. There's a lot of discussion going on in this, way too much discussion on this. S Jack Butala: Federal government has taken it upon themselves ... Jill DeWit: Once again. S Jack Butala: ... to map out the ... Jill DeWit: Once again. S Jack Butala: That goes without saying. Jill DeWit: Right. S Jack Butala: To map out the entire country and tell us all where the flood zones are. Jill DeWit: That's nice. S Jack Butala: I'll let you decided if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I personally think it's a good thing. And they gauge it in a map about when stuff floods ... and it always does, always ... where the water should go and what should be built there. And so, we'll talk about if your property's in a flood zone, exactly what to do. Jill DeWit: How excited should you really get? S Jack Butala: This is one of Jill's favorite topics. Jill DeWit: Oh, I love this. S Jack Butala: She loves talking about flood zones. Jill DeWit: Oh, sure. S Jack Butala: Driving for dollars. Jill DeWit: Oh, yeah. S Jack Butala: She loves talking about data. Jill DeWit: [crosstalk 00:01:21] agents, yeah. S Jack Butala: Mm-hmm (affirmative). Jill DeWit: I love how long things take. S Jack Butala: Jill had an interview. I keep thinking about this, I don't know why. Jill hired a personal assistant recently. And she had an interview, and she comes back from these interviews ... This is an in-person hire, so they work next to her. Jill DeWit: Right. S Jack Butala: They don't work in Canada. Jill DeWit: Remotely, yeah. S Jack Butala: Yeah, and so, she came back from this interview. And as always, I'm like, "How did it go?" I mean, I'm secretly hoping that she found the right person. Jill DeWit: Yeah. S Jack Butala: And Jill walks through the door and says, "She likes pretty things." Jill DeWit: Yeah, not going to work. Not going to work. S Jack Butala: Like, floral arrangements. And there's nothing wrong with floral arrangements, but that's just not the first thing you want somebody to say on an interview as a personal assistant. Jill DeWit: Like, "Where's my desk going to be? And what's it going to look like?" Huh? What? S Jack Butala: Before we get into that, let's take a question posted by one of our members on thelandinvestors.com online community. It's free, and if you're already with us, check out discord. Jill DeWit: Deanna wrote, "Hi. I thought I would post here seeking inspiration. I signed up for Land Academy in September, 2020. I sent out maybe 2,000 to 2,500 mailers thus far. I had quite a bit of call backs from sellers who were interested. I've not actually bought any property, for I do not necessarily have the capital to do so. I instead, have a few active option contracts, and also reached out to a few investors, but to no avail on the investors. The properties I have under option have been there now for three to five months. Option is difficult, because the seller wants what the seller wants, so it seems that the price is usually too high. I figured I will go at it anyway, because I'm not losing anything out of it. Now that it has been seven months and I still have not made a deal, I'm feeling a little disheartened and already looking at other career paths, but I know this one can be very successful and lucrative. I assume I should set up more mail.

Today we discuss a concept that I heard about over a year ago from Dr. Peter Attia as he guest starred on one of the podcasts I frequent. He mentioned this system that oversimplified nutritional approach in a way that I found really fantastic. He talks about the 3 levers of What, When, and How Much, and how often you should be toying with the variables. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/tylerkluver/support

Huberman Lab Podcast Notes Key Takeaways The ability to isolate and contract muscle hard will tell you about the ability to grow that muscleWeight training and resistance training is used for two distinct purposes: (1) systemic effects or (2) isolating muscleTo increase muscle growth something needs to happen to trigger muscle tissue to change: either stress, tension, or damageOne of the most predictive markers of aging is the ability to jump and the ability to stand up quicklyThe better you are at contracting and isolating muscles, the faster you will get desired effects to those musclesResistance training 5x per week at 30-80% (depending on the goal) of 1 rep max is required to maintain muscle To increase explosiveness and speed, work at a lower percentage of 1RM and move weights as fast as you can To get stronger, slow down and increase time under tension to isolate the muscle and encourage hypertrophyChange up regime: the nervous system adapts quickly at the beginning but slows with timeIdeal training protocol to stimulate testosterone release: 6 sets of 10 repetitions with 120-sec rest between repsThree tests to assess systemic recovery: (1) heart rate variability; (2) test grip strength in the morning; (3) test carbon dioxide tolerance first thing in the morningTo improve strength training performance and muscle growth: (1) stay hydrated with adequate salt and electrolytes; (2) consume creatine daily; (3) consume beta-alanine; (4) ingest sufficient leucine from high-quality protein Read the full notes @ podcastnotes.orgIn this episode I describe how our brain and nervous system control muscle tissue and how to leverage that for muscle maintenance, growth (hypertrophy) and recovery. I explain how neurons control muscle contractions and limb movements. I explain muscle metabolism and muscle fiber recruitment. I detail protocols for increasing muscular growth and for neuro-muscular recovery. I explain the effects of deliberate cold, anti-inflammatory agents, and anti-histamines on training progress. I describe science-supported protocols using certain weight load ranges, total sets per week, training intensity, frequency, and in-between set activities if one's goal is to increase muscle growth, strength or endurance. I review three foundational compounds and nutrients and three optimization compounds and nutrients that have been shown to improve neuro-muscular performance. Finally, I explain how to leverage exercise and weight training to enhance cognitive function. How Much Is Enough?: Buddhist and Western Perspectives on Greed, Prosperity, and Happiness The Not Old Better Show, Smithsonian Associates Interview Series Welcome to The Not Old Better Show. I'm Paul Vogelzang, and this is the Smithsonian Associates Art of Living author interview series. Our guest today is Dr. Steven Emmanuel. Dr. Steven Emmanuel is the dean of the Susan S. Goode School of Arts and Humanities at Virginia Wesleyan University. Dr. Emmanuel will be presenting via Zoom on May 25, 2021, and the title of Dr. Emmanuel's presentation is How Much is Enough? Buddhist and Western Perspectives on Greed, Prosperity, and Happiness. It has become fashionable in recent decades to assert that greed is good—or more accurately, that greed can be a productive force for good. This is not a new idea: As early as the 18th century, philosophers such as Adam Smith noted that vices such as avarice and vanity contributed to the advancement of society by spurring industry and prosperity. At the same time, Smith was deeply aware of the social and psychological costs of a competitive market system—not least anxiety, inauthenticity, inequality, and indifference to the misery of the poor. He frequently observed how the relentless pursuit of wealth disrupts the tranquility and contentment necessary to human happiness. Modern critics of free-market capitalism have long complained that it promotes economic growth at the expense of virtue and happiness. But does the capitalist model for alleviating poverty force us to choose between the useful and the good? Is some measure of unhappiness simply the price we pay for human progress? Though it may seem an unlikely source, the Buddhist tradition offers us a useful conceptual framework for thinking about this question. Our guest today, Steven M. Emmanuel, dean of the Susan S. Goode School of Arts and Humanities at Virginia Wesleyan University will answer our questions about whether there is value in greed, the dangers of wealth acquisition as it pertains to happiness, and an ennobling form of economic activity that is not only compatible with moral and spiritual growth but promotes the conditions for a peaceful, prosperous, and happy society. Please join me in welcoming to The Not Old Better Show, Smithsonian Associate Dr. Steven Emmanuel. My thanks to Dr. Steven Emmanuel, who will be presenting at the Smithsonian Associates program on May 25, 2021, and the title of Dr. Emmanuel's presentation is How Much is Enough? Buddhist and Western Perspectives on Greed, Prosperity, and Happiness. More details in today's show notes. Also, my thanks to the Smithsonian Associates team for all they do to support the show. My special thanks to you, my wonderful Not Old Better Show audience. Please be safe, practice smart social distancing, get the vaccine, and Talk About Better. The Not Old Better Show. A rare blend of eloquent lyrical craft and explorative musicianship, the songs of Tiny Ruins have been treasured by crowds and critics for over a decade. Via an eclectic raft of influences, the musical world of Hollie Fullbrook and band spans delicate folk, lustrous dream pop and ebullient psychedelia. Born in Bristol and raised in West Auckland, songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Fullbrook's debut LP Some Were Meant For Sea (2011) features her alone, and was quickly celebrated by radio playlists and blogs worldwide. The album’s clutch of “gorgeous vignettes” (BBC) put the artist on the map, and she took to the road from her home in New Zealand to tour extensively through the UK, Europe and North America – often accompanied by her friend Cass Basil on bass. Following the tape-recorded EP Haunts (2013), produced by Jon Pearce (The Beths), and with the addition of drummer Alex Freer, the then-trio began work on second album Brightly Painted One with producer Tom Healy, who later joined the band on electric guitar. Brightly Painted One (2014) was championed by the New York Times, NPR and David Lynch, & won Best Alternative Album at the New Zealand Music Awards - “…an album of quiet, devastating beauty,” wrote Pop Matters. “...an album that both bruises the heart and lifts the soul...songwriting that demonstrates a novelist’s eye for detail.”— Uncut review of 'Brightly Painted One' In between touring, Fullbrook became a sought after collaborator. A New York recording session culminated in the EP Hurtling Through (2015) with indie-rock legend Hamish Kilgour (The Clean), while single Dream Wave (2016) was recorded and produced by award-winning cult filmmaker and musician David Lynch - “A tranquil, pared-back track [with] a gradually rising sense of the macabre… very special indeed.”— The Line of Best Fit Building on the sparse minimalism and intricate songwriting of earlier releases, the band’s third album Olympic Girls comprises a taut and agile quiver of songs, dancing with explorative instrumentation and a pop sensibility that springs with life. “How much would you be willing to give?” Fullbrook asks point-blank in first single ‘How Much’, ahead of woozily discordant strings and a stomping neo-psychedelic rhythm. The lyric brims with imagery of supermarket breakdowns, lilos, snarks and silos while an anthemic guitar hook soars throughout. Not content to leave the song at a stable conclusion, a thumping ‘I am the Walrus’-esque bass outro propels the track boomerang-style back to a space of adroit experimentation. “I've heard Olympic Girls, and I had to pick my jaw up off the floor”, wrote https://www.stuff.co.nz/auckland/108148664/Tiny-Ruins-Hollie-Fullbrooks-new-album-jaw-dropping (Grant Smithies). “Clustered around more introspective passages typical of confessional singer-songwriters are gnarlier phrases that give her work its buzzy voltage: arresting visual images, weird associations, daisy-chains of telling detail.” See https://www.tinyruins.com/shows (Tour Dates.) MOJO Review of Olympic Girls - ★★★★ UNCUT Review of Olympic Girls - 8/10 "Part of the charm of Olympic Girls lies in the layers of mystery in each song. Inspired by literature, science, nature and human experience, these mysteries lie waiting to be carefully unfolded…” God Is In the TV - 9/10 "An album confident in its vulnerability and luxuriating in a bigger sound." Loud & Quiet Review of Olympic Girls - 8/10 "… songs that change sound and mood during their duration, never meandering and always captivating.” BUST Review of Olympic Girls - 5/5 “… a deeper listen to these eleven tracks exposes a breadth of influences that spans decades.” - The Wire Review of Olympic Girls “She is always looking uneasily toward the next line, or moving toward mysticism. In sentimental contexts, she generates lines of wicked ambition.”— The New York Times “Fullbrook’s hushed yet forceful songs, packed with obsessives and...

It's all about CONTROL. The left wants to know WHERE you are going, WHO you are going to see, and HOW MUCH money you have to spend. Biden, Harris, Schumer, Pelosi, and the rest of the progressives will continue to USE this coronavirus crisis to strip Americans of our most basic freedoms. It's going to cost us. Taxes WILL go up, up, and away...despite what the left tries to make the country believe. These leftist politicians lie over and over again -- Pete Buttigieg wants $3 trillion of Americans' money to build bridges to nowhere... yet he lied by telling CNN the increases wouldn't affect you unless you make $400k. WRONG. Kinda like the time Joe Biden told ABC News, "your taxes won't go up." WRONG AGAIN! I'm setting the record straight on all the lies. SUBSCRIBE for free to this podcast.
