Not everything attributed to the Prophet ﷺ is authentic — and the responsibility of distinguishing truth from error fell upon the scholars of hadith. In this first session of the explanation of Nukhbat al-Fikr, Ustadh Muhammad Tim Humble introduces the principles that underpin the science of hadith. You'll begin to see how narrations were assessed, why precision mattered, and how the early scholars approached the words of the Prophet ﷺ with both reverence and rigour. What to expect in this session: - The difference between primary and supporting Islamic sciences—and where hadith fits in - Why the Sahabah رضي الله عنهم exercised caution in narration, despite being eyewitnesses to the revelations - How scholars judged narrators and filtered weak reports from reliable ones - What makes a hadith Sahih, Hasan, or Da'if—and why these aren't casual labels - The roots of hadith verification long before books were even compiled This session lays the groundwork for a science that shaped Islamic scholarship—and preserved the Sunnah for generations to come. Historically Thinking: Conversations about historical knowledge and how we achieve it

While Islam has often been characterized as unitary and unchanging, by both Muslims and Westerners for their own particular reasons, that has never been the case–and today's world is no exception. Legalists and mystics debate, and radical groups exist at the same time as Muslim feminists who advocate new interpretations of the Koran.  This is the core argument of my guest John Tolan's new book Islam: A New History, from Muhammad to the Present. Ranging from new historical research on the first decades of the origins of the Muslim faith, he moves across centuries and millennia capturing the diversity and debate which characterized the history of the youngest of the three great monotheistic religions. Its diversity was fueled not just by religious debate, but by the great cultures which it assimilated, engaged, or had continual contact over the vast territory across which it spread.  John Tolan is professor emeritus of history at the University of Nantes. His books include England's Jews, Faces of Muhammad, Saint Francis and the Sultan, and Saracens.

In May 2025, a video went out showing young Britishschoolchildren being prompted to prostrate themselves and pray Islamic prayers. This “instruction” is unfolding across the United Kingdom—and often. These lessons occur every week during assigned terms. Most parents – and most Christians – have no clue any of this is taking place. And when people do discover all of this, they recognize itfor what it is: indoctrination. How is it that in a historical Christian country, children are being conditioned in Islam? Mark Heath joins the Christian Emergency Podcast to alerteveryone to what is going on. As a British Christian and parent, Mark was shocked to learn that these “lessons” were being taught in the local school. He spoke up, and others must speak up as well. Even Christians in other westernnations need to be aware of this practice, and intentionally engage their school systems to find out what is going on. For centuries, the Indian Ocean has been a vast crossroads of cultures, goods, and ideas - but what role did Islam play in weaving this intricate web of connections?  Arab, Berber, Persian and Indian merchants spread Islam from the seventh century onwards across the vast geographic areas of the Sahara and the Indian Ocean. Muslims in turn fostered diasporas, built architectural marvels, and circulated ideas, from the spice routes of Gujarat to the Swahili coast of Zanzibar. This episode unravels the “longue durée” of Islam's influence, tracing how faith, trade, and culture transformed global interactions and local identities across continents.   Join Walid Ghali and Farouk Topan from the Aga Khan University's Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations, and Daren Ray, from Brigham Young University as we challenge conventional narratives and spotlight the centrality of Muslim cultures in understanding the Indian Ocean's interconnected past - and its enduring legacy today.

Garret speaks about the life of Martin Soster, famed jailhouse lawyer who successfully won cases related to the constitutional rights of prisoners, was politicized in prison by the Nation of Islam in the 1950's, ran radical Afro-centric bookstores in Buffalo NY to radicalize the youth, embracing anarchism during his time imprisoned on a frame up during which he was a celebrated political prisoner resisting cavity searches through the courts, went on to organize after his release for tenants rights and rehabilitating disused buildings for community centers and helping run a childcare. Sostre was a mentor to Lorenzo Komb'oa-Ervin and Ashanti Alston and laid important foundations for modern Black Anarchism in the US. Christianity. Buddhism. Islam. Hinduism. They all seem to say the same thing, right? Be nice, don't kill, don't steal your neighbor's Wi-Fi, you know the drill. But what if these aren't just different paths up the same mountain? What if one of them flips the mountain upside down? In this message, Brian Tome unpacks why Christianity isn't just another rulebook to reach God—it's a radical invitation into relationship. One filled with grace, transformation, and the presence of the living God. And once you understand the difference, there's no chance you stay the same.  Recorded live at Crossroads Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.

This week on the Mark Levin Show, Mark emphasized that books endure far beyond radio, podcasts, or TV. While he's often discussed liberty, unalienable rights, and tyranny, he's only touched on power indirectly. Now, he's completed his latest book, On Power. This book is different than any other book Mark has written. On Power is an analysis of how power shapes history. Power is more than a word; it determines whether you are free or not. It's a subject all of us deal with every day. It's a matter that can be discussed psychologically, ideologically, and philosophically. Also, in On Power, there's a stark contrast between America's founding, rooted in a blend of faith and Enlightenment ideals, and the centralized control sought by political Islam, as highlighted by Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, a Muslim reformist. Jasser argues that Islamism, unlike the Judeo-Christian principles shaping America's Constitution, rejects individual liberty and enforces a monolithic faith, often tied to anti-Israel and anti-Semitic agendas, as seen in groups like the Muslim Brotherhood. On Power examines the concept of power, its manipulation by politicians, media, and ideologues, and its impact on individuals and society. It aims to provoke a deeper understanding and dialogue about power's application, hoping to serve as a source for liberty against tyranny. Also, Saudi Arabia played a significant role on the 9/11 slaughter of Americans. Their Crown Prince didn't even apologize once yesterday for what they did to us, and the 9/11 families are probably reeling from this. And Qatar protected the leader of the 9/11 attack from the FBI, before he was able to launch his war on America that killed our people. The Supreme Court addressed a case involving President Trump's executive order to end birthright citizenship. These national injunctions represent an unconstitutional overreach by federal district courts, lacking a historical or constitutional basis, and justices like Ketanji Brown Jackson are promoting a "deconstitutionalization" of government by justifying such injunctions as a means to force quick Supreme Court review. In April, we asked VOM Radio listeners to sponsor Bible delivery to Christians living in restricted nations and hostile areas. This week, Ty Scott, VOM's Regional Leader for East and Southern Africa, tells us about the work and effort involved in actually placing Bibles into the hands of Christians living in cities and villages in Sudan, Tanzania, or the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Statistically, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Tanzania are majority-Christian nations. Yet each has communities where almost every person is a Muslim. How is the gospel spreading in such places? And how are new followers of Christ treated by their families and the wider Islamic community? Ty will share about family persecution in Comoros, a country we've never discussed on VOM Radio, where Christians comprise only tenths of a percent of the population. Listen as Ty and VOM Radio Host, Todd Nettleton, discuss places where ethnic identity and Islam are completely intertwined. As gospel workers share the hope of Christ in those places, they don't ask people to leave their ethnicity but to fulfill what God would have them be. Hear the amazing testimony of a young man who brought his father, an imam (Islamic prayer leader), to faith in Christ, and how the gospel brought many into Christ's kingdom through his father's witness. Ty will also share specific ways you can pray for Christians in eastern and southern Africa. The VOM App for your smartphone or tablet will help you pray daily for persecuted Christians throughout the year, as well as providing free access to e-books, audiobooks, video content and feature films. He highlights the significant contributions of ancient and historical Arabia. Savage blames ignorance and the breakdown of education for the rise of modern radical Islam.

Malcolm X is one of the most iconic and complex figures of the 20th Century. Known globally for his fiery speeches and radical advocacy for Black empowerment, he was often portrayed as a fierce separatist and controversial figure during his years with the Nation of Islam. But his life was marked by constant growth, questioning, and evolution. In The Hajj, his pilgrimage to Mecca in 1964, Malcolm X witnessed a community of Muslims from every background – rich and poor, Black and White – united in worship. Through his powerful Letter from Hajj, written during that journey, we explore a spiritual awakening that would help reframe his message from one of separation to one of global solidarity, inclusion, and human rights. Presented by his daughter, Ilyasah Shabazz to mark 60 years since Malcolm X's assassination and 100 years since his birth.

On In The Market with Janet Parshall this week we had a visit with one of our favorite apologists who shared the transformative story of a woman who went from devoted , then disillusioned follower of Islam to an atheist before she found the source of real life in Jesus. A Christian marriage is still a marriage. It comes with the same challenges any other union of two unique personality types comes with. The difference is how we address those challenges and who we go to for guidance. Our guests, a respected husband and wife radio & podcast team, pulled back the curtain on their marriage story to teach us to how God can bring transformation and healing through a wife’s words to her husband and how her words can inspire him to lift her and the marriage up even higher as a priority in his life. They also took us back to the scripture to clear up the misunderstanding of what it means for a wife to be a “helper” to her husband by showing that it is a more powerful, influential and essential role than any of us have ever considered before. Can a woman be a narcissist? That’s just one of many intriguing questions we tackled as our expert on this dangerous and debilitating personality type joined us once again to share her insights and answer your questions on narcissism and the long-term damage it can do to our most intimate relationships. As long as humans are involved, government will never be able to once and for all bring an end to the common ills of mankind such as poverty, hunger, war, disease, etc. But God promises that one day the living embodiment of righteousness will sit on the throne of David and rule over mankind with love and justice for 1000 years. What will it really be like to live during the millennial reign of Christ upon the earth? Our guest opened God’s word to give a glimpse of the glory that is to come. As we wind down another week, we invite you to join us for another revealing conversation as we peek behind the curtain of some of the most important headlines of the week.Become a Parshall Partner: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/inthemarket/partnersSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Rābiʻa al-ʻAdawiyya al-Qaysiyya or Rabiʿa al-Basri (717-801 C.E.) is a highly regarded Sufi saint born in Basra, Iraq. Oral traditions and later written records suggest that she was also a poet. She is thought to be one of the first female Sufi saints and a key figure in developing Ishq-e-Haqeeqi or “divine love,” a central tenet in Sufism. On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, President Trump deserves great credit for the trillions of dollars he's bringing into our country from foreign governments and overseas corporations! It's absolutely unprecedented! Trump's speech in Saudi Arabia included some of the lines used by the Soros-Koch isolationist crowd about neocons and interventionists, but the irony is that it was given in the context of a globalist outreach effort to make economic and military deals with and between Middle East monarchies/dictatorships and the biggest of America's globalists/internationalists/corporatists. Drawing from Alexis de Tocqueville and Jasser's insights, Mark explores how Islamists, inspired by figures like Sayyid Qutb, aim to dismantle Western society, viewed as ignorant of divine guidance, to impose a rigid “pure Islam.” This clash of ideologies, coupled with the deceptive language of tyrannies like Islamism and Marxism, underscores the battle for liberty and the soul of nations. Later, neocons, many of whom were former Jewish Democrats, left the Democratic Party and adopted a hawkish foreign policy stance. While many are no longer alive, today, some avoid blaming Jews for pushing war, instead pointing to neocons as the instigators. Opposing Iran's nuclear ambitions is patriotism, not neoconservatism, due to Iran's terrorist activities and history of violating agreements. Finally, Ken Hartman, Founder & President of Our Community Salutes, calls in to discuss his national nonprofit organization, which is dedicated to recognizing and supporting high school seniors who plan to enlist in the U.S. Armed Services after graduation.  Their goal is to get 250,000 Americans to sign a thank you card to our nation's newest enlistees in the military. These discussions highlight the key differences and similarities between Islam, Judaism, Catholicism, and Christianity, emphasizing concepts such as righteousness, forgiveness, and the afterlife. Segment 1: • Muslim student believes Islam is a fair and righteous path but admits she's not currently fit for heaven. • Student says righteousness comes by trying your best—not perfection—and hopes God will judge mercifully. • Student learns Christianity offers assurance of heaven not by works but through Jesus' righteousness. Segment 2: • Student explains Islamic modesty as empowering but admits she can't know if she'll go to heaven. • Students husband, Amil, describes a works-based salvation—good deeds must outweigh bad, but no one is certain. • Both contrast with Christianity, which offers forgiveness based on Jesus paying the penalty in full. Segment 3: • Jewish student says he's “not bad enough” for hell but admits to breaking several commandments. • Student learns how the Old Testament sacrificial system points to Jesus as the ultimate Lamb of God. • Student is encouraged to repent and trust Christ alone for complete forgiveness—not by works. Segment 4: • Catholic student admits he's broken God's laws but trusts confession and penance to make up for sins. • Student struggles with the idea that Jesus paid the full penalty, insisting on earning forgiveness. • Student learns true salvation comes not by effort or priests, but by grace through faith in Christ alone. – Preorder the new book, Lies My Therapist Told Me, by Fortis Institute Fellow Dr. Greg Gifford now! https://www.harpercollins.com/pages/liesmytherapisttoldme – Thanks for listening!
