It's  Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they've built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It's a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   TESLA Q2 2021 VEHICLE PRODUCTION AND DELIVERY NUMBERS   - Tesla delivered 201,250 vehicles in the second quarter of 2021, the company reported.   - During the quarter, Tesla produced 206,421 vehicles total, including 204,081 of its Model 3 and Y   - It produced 2,340 Model S and X vehicles, the company said.   - The second-quarter numbers broke the previous record set in Q1, when Tesla delivered 184,800 and produced 180,338 cars, even as production of its Model S and X vehicles fell to zero during that quarter.   Original Source : https://www.cnbc.com/2021/07/02/tesla-tsla-q2-2021-vehicle-production-and-delivery-numbers.html   TESLA DELIVERED OVER 200,000 CARS IN THE SECOND QUARTER OF 2021   - Tesla does not break out deliveries by region, so we don't know how many vehicles the company is sending to customers in China. Tesla has been hit by a slate of bad news in the country, most recently announcing the recall of more than 285,000 vehicles —most of which were made locally— over a safety risk with the vehicles' cruise control. Like the rest of the auto industry, Tesla has also struggled with the parts shortage, including a dearth of semiconductors. In May, Musk tweeted that prices were increasing as a result of “supply chain price-pressure industry-wide [sic].”    The second quarter also saw the departure of several high-level Tesla executives, including former long-time acting general counsel Al Prescott in April, and both deputy general counsel Lynn Miller and former president of automotive and heavy trucking Jerome Guillen in June.   Original Source : https://www.theverge.com/2021/7/2/22560608/tesla-q2-2021-deliveries-elon-musk   ELON MUSK CONFIRMS TESLA CYBERTRUCK WILL HAVE 4-WHEEL STEERING   - Elon Musk has confirmed that the Tesla Cybertruck will be equipped 4-wheel directional steering resulting in a feature similar to the Hummer EV's ‘Crab mode'.   Original Source : https://electrek.co/2021/07/03/tesla-cybertruck-4-wheel-steering-hummer-ev-crab-mode/   TESLA GIGAFACTORY BERLIN'S DETRACTORS GO TO A HIGHER COURT   - Despite being rejected by the administrative court of Frankfurt (Oder), environmental associations Naturschutzbund (Nabu) and the Green League announced on Wednesday that they are not giving up their battle against American electric car maker Tesla and its Gigafactory Berlin facility.   - Nabu and the Green League appealed against the provisional permit over alleged safety concerns, but they were unsuccessful. With this in mind, the two groups have decided to escalate their efforts by taking their grievances against Tesla to the Higher Administrative Court (OVG).   Original Source : https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-gigafactory-berlin-detractors-escalate-court/   VOLKSWAGEN ELECTRIC CARS SHOWCASED AT THE PETERSEN   - Looks like the future is going to be all-electric, and the Petersen Automotive Museum is celebrating it with their exhibit, “Building an Electric Future: The Technology of Today for the Vehicles of Tomorrow.”   - The museum has a 1901 Detroit Electric car that it exhibits to remind people how long EVs have been a thing.   - a lot of the exhibit features VW EVs, from the e-Golf to the ID.R that obliterated the record at Pikes Peak just a few years ago. There's even a VW ID. Buzz microbus concept, the original yellow one, on hand. The latest addition is the ID.4 crossover, which rides on Volkswagen's all-electric MEB architecture. And it's not just any ID.4; it's the off-road concept that recently completed the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road race.   Original Source : https://www.autoweek.com/news/a36908899/volkswagen-electric-cars-petersen-automotive-museum/   US: FORD MUSTANG MACH-E SALES ABOVE 6,000 IN Q2 2021   - "With just 11 days to turn, Mustang Mach-E is essentially selling as soon as it arrives at dealers. Mach-E sales totaled 2,465, with 12,975 Mustang Mach-Es sold through the first half of the year. Customers are telling Ford their primary reasons for purchase is the technology, design and performance that Mach-E provides."   - Production of the Ford Mustang Mach-E for the global markets continues to increase and in June reached a new monthly high of 6,963. So far this year, Ford produced 34,779 Mach-E, while cumulatively it's over 41,000. We guess that the majority were sent to Europe.   Original Source : https://insideevs.com/news/517872/us-ford-plugin-sales-june2021/?utm_source=RSS&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=RSS-all-articles   PORSCHE CALLS FOR SUPPLIERS TO SWITCH TO GREEN ENERGY   - Porsche is making further efforts to reduce CO₂ emissions in its supply chain: the sports car manufacturer is calling for its around 1,300 series suppliers to use exclusively renewable energy in the manufacture of Porsche components as of July 2021. It applies to any contracts awarded for providing production material for new vehicle projects.    Suppliers who are unwilling to switch to certified green energy will no longer be considered for contracts with Porsche in the long term.   Original Source : https://www.greencarcongress.com/2021/07/20210702-porsche.html   VOLVO IS BUILDING A 225 MILLION GIGABYTE DATA CENTER   - Swedish automaker Volvo Cars held a Tech Day on Wednesday where company executives shared a roadmap of the company's future plans, including a switch to all-electric and software-based vehicles by 2030.A big part of Volvo's future plans include having ten of thousands of software-powered connected cars on the road in the next decade traveling millions of kilometers and continuously sharing data with the automaker.   - The crowd-sourced data collected from Volvo vehicles will include continuous inputs from vehicle sensors that monitor the environment, including high-resolution lidar data used for autonomous driving. Allowing customers to share vehicle data will help Volvo continuously make software improvements to its cars, including the advanced safety systems, including autonomous driving systems.   - To process the massive amount of real-time traffic data collected from Volvo vehicles, Volvo Cars and Zenseact are investing in a massive AI-powered data factory within the next few years. The data center can store over 200 Pebibytes (225 million gigabytes) of data.   Original Source : https://www.futurecar.com/4717/Volvo-is-Building-a-225-Million-Gigabyte-Data-Center-to-Collect-&-Process-Real-Time-Vehicle-Data-to-Improve-Safety   ABB DELIVERS 2,000 WALL BOX CHARGERS TO AUSTRIAN POST   - The industrial group ABB, together with EWW Anlagentechnik, has equipped the Austrian Post with around 2,000 AC wall boxes, which are to be installed at more than 100 locations.   - The Austrian Post is reportedly aiming for zero-emission last-mile delivery by 2030 and plans to install over 2,400 AC and DC charging points at more than 130 locations to electrify its fleets.   - The wallboxes are ABB's Terra AC wall charging station, as also offered to private customers.   Original Source : https://www.electrive.com/2021/07/02/abb-delivers-2000-wall-box-chargers-to-austrian-post/   GERMANY TO HAVE 1 MILLION ELECTRIC CARS ON THE ROAD IN JULY   - Germany will in July have 1 million electric cars on the road, hitting its target six months late, Economy Minister Peter Altmaier told Tagesspiegel daily on Friday, saying subsidy programmes had boosted demand.   - "More bonuses have been taken up in the first half of 2021 than in the whole of last year," he added, saying they amounted to 1.25 billion euros. Subsidies were increased during the coronavirus pandemic.   Original Source : https://finance.yahoo.com/news/germany-1-million-electric-cars-231626048.html   EV OWNERS TOLD TO SEND IN ODOMETER READINGS FOR ROAD TAX   - Electric vehicle owners with cars registered in Victoria have been instructed by the state's road authority to send in a photo of their odometer readings from July 1 to comply with the new electric vehicle road tax that takes effect from the start of the new financial year. And they are not happy. EV owners in Victoria will be slugged a tax of 2.5 cents per kilometre from July 1, meaning an annual bill of $375 for cars that travel around 15,000kms a year, but around $750 a year for electric cars that travel double that.   - Any driver that fails to deliver the photo of the odomoter reading by July 1 won't be able to duck the charges, because they will be billed according to the car's “average daily use” once that is established   - Victoria has sought to offset the political fallout over the new EV tax by offering a rebate of $3,000 for new EVs purchased, at least for the first 4,000 new EVs, at which point the scale of the rebate will be reviewed. NSW, on the other hand, has announced a $3,000 rebate for 25,000 vehicles, waived stamp duty for all EVs, and will delay any EV road tax until at least 2027.   Original Source : https://thedriven.io/2021/06/30/victoria-ev-owners-told-to-send-in-odometer-readings-for-electric-vehicle-road-tax/   SPIED: LARGER AUDI E-TRON SUV FOR CHINESE MARKET SEEN TESTING   Original Source : https://www.quattrodaily.com/spied-larger-audi-e-tron-suv-for-chinese-market-seen-testing/   WATCH THE GMC HUMMER EV LAUNCH IN ‘WTF' MODE   Original Source : https://www.thedrive.com/news/41388/watch-the-gmc-hummer-ev-launch-in-wtf-mode   QUESTION OF THE WEEK WITH EMOBILITYNORWAY.COM   If you could only afford one, would you rather - Solar Panels or battery storage? Daily Stock Market News

Last week, stocks had their worst week in 9 months. Will the sell-off continue today, or will stocks rebound? Here's what is happening in the markets today, Monday, June 21st.So, let's take a look to see what's happening in the markets today, Monday, June 21th so that YOU know what's going on.With me in the studio is my head coach Mark Hodge. First, let's take a look at last week first:The Dow on Friday lost 533 points, or nearly 1.6%, closing out a five-session losing streak of almost 3.5%. The S&P 500, which fell 1.3% on Friday, sank four days in a row for a 1.9% weekly decline. The Nasdaq dropped less than 1% on Friday but it was only down about 0.3% for the weekThe Fed was in the spotlight last week. Powell on Wednesday and Fed Member Bullard on Friday. But traders seem to believe the FOMC statement more than Bullard's single statement. This week: Powell testifies in front of the congress tomorrow (Tuesday). A bunch of other Fed members are scheduled to speak this week, too. Bitcoin dropped 7%y, trading under $33,000 for the first time in nearly two weeks, on reports that China's expands on their crackdown on cryptocurrency mining. Reason for the crackdown: “control financial risks and energy consumption.”MicroStrategy (MSTR) fell 8.7% in premarket trading due to the fall in bitcoin prices. The business analytics company is among the biggest corporate investors in bitcoin, with several billion dollars in holdings on its books.Coinbase (COIN) slid 3% in premarket action, also hit by the drop in cryptocurrencies amid the latest actions by the Chinese government.Tesla (TSLA) is also trading lower. And former Tesla executive Jerome Guillen sold about $274 million in Tesla shares since June 10, according to a SEC filing. Guillen left Tesla earlier this month after 11 years, most recently running the company's Tesla Heavy Trucking unit. Will he be the new executive at Lordstown Motors (RIDE)?American Airlines (AAL) is canceling hundreds of flights because of labor shortages: half of the flights were canceled because of "unavailable flight crews." Other reasons included maintenance and other disruptions. AAL has to retrain pilots that they furloughed last year. This wraps up today's stock market news.If you enjoyed the "Stock Market Today" video, make sure to subscribe to this channel. And for more stock market news,  visit https://rockwelltrading.com.#todaysstockmarket #stockmarkettoday #stockmarket

It's a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. Unplugged Performance Reveals 'Pikes Plaid'"On June 10, 2021, Elon Musk formally kicked off deliveries of the 1,020-hp Tesla Model S Plaid. Approximately two days later, on June 12, Unplugged Performance debuted its race-prepped Model S Plaid that's set to compete at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (with our resident pro racing driver, Randy Pobst, behind the wheel). " says Motor Trend: "The interior is almost completely stripped out. After ditching items such as the car's airbags, a center console, and door panels, Unplugged Performance fits this tri-motor Tesla with a roll cage and a racing seat with six-point racing belts. The body is stock except for a huge front splitter and a gigantic adjustable rear wing. Likewise, the Plaid racer retains its factory air springs, however, it employs custom Unplugged Performance/Bilstein dampers and a three-way adjustable rear anti-roll bar. The car rides on Yokohama Advan slicks on custom forged aluminum wheels." https://www.motortrend.com/news/tesla-model-s-plaid-pikes-peak-race/ ADL presents EV Bus For U.S."Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL), a subsidiary of NFI Group (NFI), unveiled its first all-electric three-axle double-deck bus for North America. Following trials with select transit operators, the vehicle is now launching on the broader North American markets." says electrive.com: "The 45-foot Enviro500EV CHARGE has a passenger capacity of up to 82 seats, including 53 on the upper deck. An electric portal axle with hub motors provides propulsion with 2×125kW peak power output. The battery capacity of the Enviro500EV Charge stands at 648 kWh of energy storage integrated “in the chassis and the rear of the vehicle for a low centre of gravity and great stability”. Charging can be done via industry-standard CCS1" https://www.electrive.com/2021/06/13/adl-presents-triple-axle-double-decker-bus-for-north-america/ BYD's electric school bus will feed electricity back to classrooms"Chinese EV automaker BYD officially introduced its new electric Type D school bus, available in the US in lengths of 10.6, 11.6, and 12 meters, and capable of carrying up to 84 passengers. Most notably, the school bus enables bi-directional charging. According to the company, the bus can be charged overnight when energy demand is low, and feed clean energy back to the school during school hours" says The Next Web: "The bus features a lithium iron phosphate battery and has a range of roughly 250 kilometers on a single charge. That's 57km more than the electric school buses of Blue Bird Corporation, one of the biggest industry players, can go. Although it's unclear when and where BYD's new ebuses will debut, the announcement comes in perfect sync with President Biden's EV infrastructure scheme" https://thenextweb.com/news/byds-electric-school-bus-feed-electricity-back-classrooms UK in talks with 6 firms to build gigafactories"Britain is in talks with six companies for building gigafactories to produce electric vehicle batteries, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday, citing people briefed on the discussions." reports Reuters today: "Ford Motor Co (F.N), Nissan Motor Co Ltd (7201.T), LG Corp (003550.KS), Samsung (005930.KS) and start-ups Britishvolt and InoBat Auto are in talks with the British government or local authorities about locations for potential factories and financial support, according to the report. The British government's plan to prohibit the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030 and hybrids by 2035 will require the country's vehicle plants to shift to producing electric models." https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/britain-talks-with-6-firms-about-building-gigafactories-ev-batteries-ft-2021-06-16/ Russian Government Increases Investment for Electric Vehicles."The Russian government plans to invest 777 billion rubles ($10.5 billion) into electric and hydrogen vehicle development by 2030, according to documents obtained by the Vedomosti news outlet." says The Moscow Times: "In the next nine years Russia's electric vehicle (EV) share of the auto market could grow from 0.05% to 15%, officials at the Ministry of Economic Development said. By 2030 there could be 1.5 million EVs on Russian roads, supported by 20,000 new charging stations, according to the plan." https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2021/06/01/russian-government-increases-investment-for-electric-vehicles-a74067 Tesla desperately needs a No. 2 for Elon Musk"While Musk is not likely to step aside at Tesla (TSLA) anytime soon, it's evident he has many more interests — some would call them distractions — beyond electric vehicles. He's been obsessed with cryptocurrencies, especially dogecoin" says CNN Business: "It makes no sense for Tesla to be essentially a one-man show while SpaceX has an extremely adept COO in Gwynne Shotwell, one of that company's first hires, who is capable of stepping in to lead if Musk were unable to do so. Why doesn't Musk have someone like Shotwell at Tesla? Tesla has suffered a bit of a brain drain over the past few years, with several high-profile executives leaving. Most recent, and most alarming to Tesla investors, is this week's departure of Jerome Guillen. The nearly 11-year Tesla veteran had been running the trucking division and previously served in many roles, including president of the automotive division and program director on Tesla's Model S sedan. David Whiston, an auto analyst at Morningstar, said in an email to CNN Business that the only executive left who might make sense as a Musk successor is Andrew "Drew" Baglino, Tesla's senior vice president of powertrain and energy engineering, who has been with the company since 2006." QUESTION OF THE WEEK ANSWERS RAJEEV NARAYANMy Volt makes a strange ethereal moaning sound at low speed, that I am not a fan of.. That being said I understand that regulations mandating these low speed sounds are increasing. It would be interesting if these could be changed, downloaded, or even self made like ringtones today. Perhaps you could even decide which one gets played based on GPS location. As for sounds at higher speeds- I am not a fan of that, one of the things I enjoy about my EV is the quiet ride, thst being said I can see a similar market for customizable / downloaded high-speed sounds- “Ferrari” or “spaceship” may be interesting.  LIAM FROM OHIOI am not an EV owner but, I think car manufacturers should just put a microphone under the hood of their EVs,✝ and pump the motor sounds through the interior (and exterior) speakers. (Of course with adjustable volume.) I love the sound of motor whine! Have you heard how cool the EV1 sounded even without fake motor sounds?* Regarding my opinion fake motor sounds, Porsche, Audi, and Jaguar have nailed it in my opinion! Although, I don't really care for the fake sounds that the e-Golf and Mach-E make when accelerating, as they sound too much like combustion engine sounds. JAMES COYLEI have to agree the Zoe Pedestrian noise, is really is annoying BUT it does come in really useful when driving in busy town areas with lots of people walking around, HOWEVER the button to turn it on/off is in a really awkward place, and you cant turn it on, for instance when reversing, only off. EG: if there was a button to turn it on, on the steering wheel you could click it on and off at will, I'm most cautious when silently reversing slowly out of a super market car parking space, you cant turn it on, it refuses to make any noise whilst reversing, when its at its most quiet. IAN HARRISON FROM HULL•I am a blind enthusiast of electric vehicles but do worry about not being able to use yet another of my senses while out and about. So few drivers fail to recognise the significance of a white cane or guide dog compared with years ago that crossing uncontrolled roads is always a gamble anyway. Perhaps cars could be taught to notice the cane or the profile of a guide dog and its owner, then perform a beep whether or not your system is switched on. •Silent cars when combined with this fad for shared spaces is a double whammy for both the blind and even parents and small children. •Can I give a shout out to Motability UK who provide leased vehicles to the disabled. They are slowly increasing their range of EVs, including the ID3. I can't wait to get my wife an electric vehicle next time around. STEPHEN HARRISSo far as EV sounds are concerned, they should be silent.  However, having the option to change the sound of the horn or have two different buttons for the horn, so that the driver can give an appropriate warning for the circumstance would be ideal.  The usual horn sound can scare the daylights out of unsuspecting pedestrians and I think many sensible drivers are hesitant to use it for that reason, whereas a sound like a bike bell would be enough to get them to turn in the direction of the vehicle and see what is happening.  A bike bell is pretty universally recognised warning to get out of the way.s (PEVs).  They would be an ideal first and last mile solution and indeed are plenty capable enough to make the whole journey in many instances. MARK ORRICONo artificial noises please. Inside or out. There are some nearly silent piston cars out there. It's on the driver and pedestrians to avoid being run over and running people over. When I got my Niro in February I had it 2 days with the reverse beeping and pulled the front bumper off to disconnect the speaker…..my first new car ever and day 2 I'm pulling the thing apart, I got an ev partly for a quieter vehicle not one that was going to wake all my neighbors up when I back out of the garage. ALUN MORGANTo me it's very clear, there should be no rules about EV noise at all. Regulations should be technology agnostic: Minimum external noise limits should exist for all vehicles at low speed. I think the current AVAS regs allowing quite a lot of freedom under an “engine like noise” are a good way to go. Equally: Maximum external noise should be regulated, there are standards for drive by noise, but regulations on maximum noise at low speeds are probably a good idea now that a lot of cars simply have a speaker under the hood that could easily be abused. As for internal noise - go for broke, I don't care if you want your EV to sound like a V12, or your V12 to sound like an EV (good luck with that). The market will provide/decide. I suspect as EVs become ubiquitous, playing faux engine noises from your audio system will turn out to be a fad.  QUESTION OF THE WEEK WITH EMOBILITYNORWAY.COM What's the best way to navigate an EV journey and charge on the way? It's Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they've built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It's a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. JEROME GUILLEN LEAVES TESLA"Tesla is losing one of its most important executives; Jerome Guillen. Guillen held high-ranking positions at Tesla for more than ten years, but has now left the company, as Tesla announced in a brief notification to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)." says electrive.com: " Jerome Guillen was only appointed head of the new Tesla Heavy Trucking division in March, where he was to drive the market launch of the electric truck Semi, and was previously head of Tesla's entire automotive division. The Frenchman has long been considered one of Elon Musk's most important companions. He came to Tesla from Daimler in 2010 and was responsible for the Model S. In his ten years at Tesla, Musk repeatedly gave Guillen responsibility for the major construction sites in the company." https://www.electrive.com/2021/06/08/jerome-guillen-leaves-tesla/ TESLA'S CHINA-MADE VEHICLE SALES SURGE 29% IN MAY"Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) sold 33,463 China-made electric cars in May, including exports, a 29% jump from April, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) on Tuesday." says Reuters: "China's new electric vehicle sales surged 177% to 185,000 cars in May from a year earlier, CPCA said. Overall passenger vehicle sales, however, rose just 1.1% to 1.66 million cars. Tesla, which makes its Model 3 sedans and Model Y sport-utility vehicles in Shanghai, exported 11,527 China-made vehicles in May. In April, it sold 25,845 China-made cars, down from 35,478 in March." https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/teslas-china-made-vehicle-sales-surge-29-may-auto-association-2021-06-08/ AUSTRALIA'S LARGEST-EVER TESLA SHIPMENT"The largest-ever Australian shipment of Tesla electric cars arrived late last week in Port Kembla, NSW, according to well-informed boat tracking service VedaPrime. It's estimated the delivery comprised roughly 1500 examples of the Chinese-built Model 3 sedan, which remains the only variant from Tesla currently on offer Down Under." says caradvice.com.au: "While Tesla does not release its sales data, figures obtained by CarAdvice show the all-electric brand delivered 3430 vehicles to local customers throughout 2020. Based on those results, the most recent shipment equates to almost six-months worth of stock – more than the US-based brand has ever had to deal with in Australia" https://www.caradvice.com.au/958695/australias-largest-ever-tesla-shipment-arrives-in-port-kembla-nsw/ TESLA SEEKS TO BUILD BATTERY FACTORY NEAR BERLIN"US carmaker Tesla has expanded its application for construction permits to build more facilities in Grünheide — south of Berlin — notably a battery factory. In April, Tesla said it wanted to include a battery production facility in its permit application." according to dw.com: "Given the scope of the changes, the state of Brandenburg's ministry of agriculture, environment and climate (MLUK) must decide in the next few days "whether to involve the public again," the licensing authority said in a statement on Thursday. Following criticism from environmental groups, Tesla also wants to introduce various measures to reduce water consumption so that despite expansion of the plant, water consumption is still expected to be about 1.4 million cubic meters per year." https://www.dw.com/en/germany-tesla-seeks-to-build-battery-factory-near-berlin/a-57775358 MAXUS TO SUPPLY 750 ELECTRIC VANS TO DPD UK"DPD UK will double its fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) after ordering 750 fully electric commercial vehicles from Maxus. The parcel delivery firm has bought 500 E Deliver 9s and 250 E Deliver 3s, increasing its pure electric fleet to almost 1,500 vehicles." says CommercialFleet.org: "Maxus began taking orders for the E Deliver 3, its first compact electric van, last year.  Two battery options are available: 35kWH and 52.5kWh, giving a range of up to 98 miles and 150 miles, respectively. Meanwhile, the E Deliver 9, which replaced the EV80, has a maximum range of 219 miles and can be specified with one of three battery options. There's a choice of 55.1kWh, 72kWh and 88.5kWh." https://www.commercialfleet.org/news/van-news/2021/06/09/maxus-to-supply-750-electric-vans-to-dpd-uk ELECTRIC TRUCK START-UP LORDSTOWN DOESN'T HAVE CASH TO BEGIN PRODUCTION"Lordstown Motors, an electric vehicle start-up that aimed to revive a shuttered General Motors factory in Ohio, said on Tuesday that it did not have enough cash to start commercial production of its electric pickup truck and might have to close its doors." reports The Times: "The company, which was once held up as a savior by former President Donald J. Trump, is now being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission. In a regulatory filing, Lordstown said it will not be able to begin “commercial scale production” without raising more money from investors and lenders. Lordstown, one of about a dozen start-ups in the electric vehicle space that have gone public by merging with special purpose acquisition companies, or SPACs, added that there was “substantial doubt regarding our ability to continue as a going concern” — a legal phrase companies often use to alert investors that they might not survive" https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/08/business/lordstown-cash-going-concern.html E.ON AIMS TO INCREASE AFFORDABILITY WITH EV SALARY SACRIFICE SCHEME"E.ON has launched an electric vehicle (EV) salary sacrifice scheme following its company car provision going all electric in 2019. This new scheme – created by E.ON and Lex Autolease - enables non-company car drivers to access an EV, offering a range of EVs as well as an option to purchase a home chargepoint through its e-mobility business unit, E.ON Drive, as an additional salary sacrifice benefit." says Current News: "The scheme allows employees to benefit from reduced Income Tax and National Insurance contributions, with this designed to make EVs more affordable. It follows Octopus announcing earlier this year it was offering 100% electric salary sacrifice schemes through a new business unit dubbed Electric Dreams." https://www.current-news.co.uk/news/e-on-aims-to-increase-affordability-with-ev-salary-sacrifice-scheme RENAULT MEGANE E-TECH ELECTRIC"The radical Mégane eVision concept is destined for series production in 2022 as the Mégane E-Tech Electric - Renault's second mainstream EV." sreports Autocar: "The production-ready car has now been revealed in camouflaged prototype guise ahead of a full public debut later this year. The model shown is the first of 30 identically liveried test cars that will be used for advanced development trials on public roads beginning this summer.   Proportions are largely shared with Alliance partner Nissan's new Ariya SUV, with which the Mégane shares its CMF-EV platform and powertrain. Renault has confirmed that, like the concept, the Peugeot e-2008 rival has a 215bhp electric motor on its front axle and takes its power from a 60kWh underfloor battery pack good for 280 miles of range on the official WLTP test cycle." https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/new-2022-renault-megane-e-tech-electric-280-mile-ev NISSAN SAYS OWNERS OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES TRAVEL 390 MILES MORE "Nissan claims electric car owners across Europe are already covering more miles annually than those driving petrol and diesel cars, despite continued concerns about range anxiety. The average electric vehicle user travels 391 miles (630 kilometres) more each year than those with cars with combustion engines, according to the Japanese car maker's research." according to thisismoney: " A poll of 7,000 motorists in the UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Norway, Sweden and Denmark earlier this year asked car drivers to detail how many miles they cover each year - not including 2020. When drivers of petrol and diesel cars were asked what would convince them to switch to an EV, 38 per cent said the biggest 'pull-factor' would be longer ranges. Almost a third (32 per cent) said easier charging would persuade them to make the leap, while three in 10 said they would need to see an improved availability of public devices before ditching their traditional motors." https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-9659615/Electric-car-owners-390-miles-year-petrol-diesel.html THE URBAN, LOW-SPEED EV IS HAVING A MOMENT"In China, a 10-foot-long minicar called the Wuling Hongguang Mini — made by General Motors and Chinese automakers SAIC and Guangxi Automobile — is topping 250,000 in total sales. That makes it the best-selling EV in the country, outperforming Tesla's Model 3 and others." says greenboz.com: "Young families are buying the car because at around $5,000 it's cheap, it's easy to drive, park and charge, and it's fun to personalize with a Crayola box of color options and stickers from the likes of Pokemon and Hello Kitty. The car is reportedly ubiquitous in the Chinese city of Liuzhou, which has chargers all over the place; the city offers free parking and charging to support the growing EV market. Along with China, European cities historically have been eager to support pint-sized vehicles for urban living. But major European automakers aren't yet embracing the ultra-cheap EVs being sold in China. We are officially living in fictional times. In a separate filing to the SEC, former president of Tesla’s Automotive division Jerome Guillen has officially (quote) "transitioned". He now identifies as president of Tesla Heavy Truck - which must be the easiest job on earth, seeing as there are no Tesla heavy trucks, and there won’t be any, any time soon. According to Electrek, the latest update was spotted by Tesla Users who point out that its update notes reveal that there are minor updates for its Winter adaptability and Cold Weather improvements. Apart from that, the company has also addressed some minor bug issues, including several fixes to address the matter at hand."   But the most noticeable for those in cold weather is probably going to be the stronger regen to put energy back into the battery pack when it's colder.   https://www.techtimes.com/articles/258046/20210316/tesla-software-update-2021-4-12-now-live-model-y.htm   TESLA COLLECTING TELEMETRY FOR INSURANCE According to the white hat hacker @greentheonly on Twitter: "So we all heard how Tesla Insurance does not use individual driving data? Well, the times are a-changing. 2021.4.12 adds in collection of "insurance telemetry""   I have no issue with individual data points if it's anonymized.   One Twitter comment from @TeslaTony310: "They said as much a couple of conference calls ago. They had an option to launch just the regular type of insurance that exists in CA, or use vehicle telematics to offer a "better" product. Good to see it finally showing up."   TESLA LOBBIED UK TO RAISE TAX ON PETROL AND DIESEL "Elon Musk’s Tesla lobbied the UK government to raise taxes on petrol and diesel cars in order to fund bigger subsidies for electric vehicles, alongside a ban on hybrids. The US electric car pioneer called for a rise in fuel duty and a charge on petrol and diesel car purchases to pay for grants and tax breaks such as a VAT exemption for battery-powered cars, according to submissions to the government seen by the Guardian." says a Tue 16th march article on guardian.co.uk by Jasper Jolly: "The proposals would theoretically add thousands of pounds to the cost of a new petrol or diesel car, while making electric cars cheaper. In the UK the Conservative government has frozen fuel duty for 11 years, a subsidy for petrol and diesel that has been worth more than £50bn."   https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2021/mar/16/elon-musk-tesla-lobbied-uk-to-raise-tax-on-petrol-and-diesel   TESLA MOVES AUTOMOTIVE PRESIDENT JEROME GUILLEN TO LEAD TRUCKING BUSINESS "Tesla has moved its former president of Automotive, Jerome Guillen, into the role of president of Heavy Trucking according to a regulatory filing dated March 11, 2021. The change means less responsibility for Guillen, who oversaw the company’s entire vehicles business since his appointment in the third quarter of 2018. In its fourth-quarter 2020 shareholder deck, Tesla said the Semi program was still “in development” but promised Tesla Semi deliveries would begin in 2021."   https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/15/tesla-president-of-automotive-jerome-guillen-named-to-lead-trucking.html   HYUNDAI SET TO USE BYD BLADE BATTERIES IN CHINA "According to a Korean media report, Hyundai Motor is in talks with BYD about the supply of blade batteries for electric cars to be sold in China. BYD is said to have already set up a business unit responsible for cooperation with Hyundai and has offered to supply the batteries to Hyundai from 2022 onwards." says electrive: "According to an article in Business Korea, BYD has offered to supply the South Korean carmaker with blade batteries from 2022.  BYD has built a battery factory in Chongqing with a planned annual capacity of 20 GWh in the central Chinese city where Hyundai also has a car plant with an annual output of 300,000 vehicles. The BYD Chongqing factory is currently the only production base for the blade battery that was presented a year ago. Hyundai has so far relied on CATL as another battery cell supplier for its electric cars based on the E-GMP platform in addition to batteries from SK Innovation."   SKI is the exclusive provider of batteries for the IONIQ 5   https://www.electrive.com/2021/03/15/hyundai-set-to-use-byd-blade-batteries-in-china/   BYD BLADE BATTERY SET TO REVOLUTIONISE EV MARKET BYD’s new Blade Battery headlines the recently-revealed specification for the company’s new seven-seat 2021-model BYD Tang SUV – the first car powered by BYD’s latest battery technology for the Norwegian market. Following an exhaustive development programme, the Blade Battery returned truly impressive, class-leading test results; a stringent nail-penetration test confirmed the Blade Battery’s surface temperature reached a remarkably low 30º - 60º C while emitting no smoke or fire. Further tests subjected the Blade Battery to a 300º C furnace test and a 260% overcharging test, neither of which resulted in fire or explosive response. The results provide evidence that the Blade Battery dramatically out-performs traditional ternary lithium batteries and Lithium Iron-Phosphate technologies. For longevity, the Blade Battery tops 1.2 million km after 3,000 cycles of charging / discharging.   https://www.bydeurope.com/article/354   AUDI STOPS DEVELOPMENT OF NEW COMBUSTION ENGINES "VW subsidiary Audi has abandoned the development of new combustion engines. The Volkswagen Group has initiated a remarkable transformation in the wake of the "Dieselgate" emissions cheating scandal of its own making, but it has not set an end date for combustion engine production." says Clean Energy Wire. And the reason? Euro 7 Emissions Standards. CEO Markus Duesmann said the new emissions rules were: ""technically a huge challenge with little benefit for the environment.""   https://www.cleanenergywire.org/news/audi-stops-development-new-combustion-engines   AUDI RS E-TRON GT FIRST DRIVE REVIEW From Autoblog who had a Gernman spec car for the U.S. test drive: "The E-Tron GT starts at $99,900 (before destination charges, which haven't been announced for the 2022 model year). The RS adds $40,000. On paper, though, there are places where a Tesla Model S wins out — significantly more storage space with a 26.3 cubic foot trunk versus the Audi’s 14.3 (not to mention a 5.3 cubic foot frunk to the Audi’s 2.9), a claimed 1.9-second 0-60 time for the tri-motor $144,490 Plaid+ that also has maximum advertised range of 520 miles. But for those who are accustomed to traditional cars, it’s the unquantifiable areas like interior feel and steering response that give the Audi an edge. E-Tron GT slots neatly into the sweet spot between the base Taycan and 4S, while the RS E-Tron GT nuzzles between the 4S and Turbo. In both cases, the Audi strikes the perfect balance, and factoring its more car-like charm, it's arguably the one to get"   https://www.autoblog.com/2021/03/15/2022-audi-rs-etron-gt-review/   You can listen to all 1022 previous episodes of this this for free, where you get your podcasts from, plus the blog https://www.evnewsdaily.com/ – remember to subscribe, which means you don’t have to think about downloading the show each day, plus you get it first and free and automatically.   It would mean a lot if you could take 2mins to leave a quick review on whichever platform you download the podcast.   And  if you have an Amazon Echo, download our Alexa Skill, search for EV News Daily and add it as a flash briefing.   Come and say hi on Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter just search EV News Daily, have a wonderful day, I’ll catch you tomorrow and remember…there’s no such thing as a self-charging hybrid.     PHIL ROBERTS / ELECTRIC FUTURE (PREMIUM PARTNER) BRAD CROSBY (PREMIUM PARTNER) PORSCHE OF THE VILLAGE CINCINNATI (PREMIUM PARTNER) AUDI CINCINNATI EAST (PREMIUM PARTNER) VOLVO CARS CINCINNATI EAST (PREMIUM PARTNER) NATIONALCARCHARGING.COM and ALOHACHARGE.COM  (PREMIUM PARTNER) DEREK REILLY FROM THE EV REVIEW IRELAND YOUTUBE CHANNEL (PREMIUM PARTNER) RICHARD AT RSEV.CO.UK – FOR BUYING AND SELLING EVS IN THE UK (PREMIUM PARTNER)   DAVID AND LISA ALLEN (PARTNER) GARETH HAMER (PARTNER) eMOBILITY NORWAY HTTPS://WWW.EMOBILITYNORWAY.COM/  (PARTNER) BOB BOOTHBY FROM MILLBROOK COTTAGES – 5* GOLD SELF CATERING COTTAGES (PARTNER) DARIN MCLESKEY FROM DENOVO REAL ESTATE (PARTNER) JUKKA KUKONEN FROM WWW.SHIFT2ELECTRIC.COM RAJEEV NARAYAN (PARTNER) IAIN SEAR (PARTNER)   ADRIAN BOND (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ALAN SHEDD (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ALEX BANAHENE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ALEXANDER FRANK @ https://www.youtube.com/c/alexsuniverse42 ANDERS HOVE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ANDREA JEFFERSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ANDREW GREEN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ANDY NANCARROW AND LILIAN KASS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ASEER KHALID (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) BÅRD FJUKSTAD (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) BLUNDERBUSS JONES (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER BRIAN THOMPSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) BRUCE BOHANNAN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) CHARLES HALL (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) CHRIS HOPKINS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) CHRISTOPHER BARTH (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) COLIN HENNESSY AND CAMBSEV (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) CRAIG ROGERS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAMIEN DAVIS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAVID FINCH (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAVID MOORE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAVID PARTINGTON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAVID PRESCOTT (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DC EV (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DON MCALLISTER / SCREENCASTSONLINE.COM (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ED CORTREEN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ERIC HANSEN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ERU KYEYUNE-NYOMBI (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) FREDRIK ROVIK (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) GENE RUBIN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) HEDLEY WRIGHT (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) HEINRICH LIESNER (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) IAN GRIFFITHS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) IAN (WATTIE) WATKINS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JACK OAKLEY (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JAMES STORR (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JAVIER CARMELO DÍAZ PÉREZ (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JIM MORRIS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JOHN SCHROEDER (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JON AKA BEARDY MCBEARDFACE FROM KENT EVS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JON MANCHAK (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JUAN GONZALEZ (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) KEVIN MEYERSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) LAURENCE D ALLEN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) LEE BROWN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) LUKE CULLEY (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MARCEL WARD (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MARTY YOUNG  (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MIA OPPELSTRUP (PARTNER) MIKE WINTER (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) NATHAN GORE-BROWN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) NATHANIEL FREEDMAN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) NEIL E ROBERTS FROM SUSSEX EVS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) OHAD ASTON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PAUL STEPHENSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PETE GLASS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PETE GORTON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PETER & DEE ROBERTS FROM OXON EVS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PHIL MOUCHET (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PHILIP TRAUTMAN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) RAYMOND ROWLEDGE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) RENE KEEMIK (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) RENÉ SCHNEIDER (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ROB HERMANS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ROB FROM THE RSTHINKS EV CHANNEL ON YOUTUBE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ROBERT GRACE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) RUPERT MITCHELL (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) SEIKI PAYNE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) STEPHEN PENN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) STEVE JOHN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) THOMAS J. Show #525   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Thursday 11th July 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story to save you time.             Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   TESLA READY TO INCREASE PRODUCTION AT FREMONT FACTORY "An internal email to employees dated July 9 from Jerome Guillen, President of Automotive at Tesla, said the company is “making preparations” to raise output at its factory in Fremont, California" reports CleanTechnica: "“While we can’t be too specific in this email, I know you will be delighted with the upcoming developments,” Guillen said, according to a report by Bloomberg, which claims to have seen a copy of the email. The email went on to say the company has “hit new records in all production lines for output and efficiency” in the most recent quarter, both in Fremont and in Nevada, and that “quality is also reaching record highs.”"   https://cleantechnica.com/2019/07/10/tesla-ready-to-increase-production-at-fremont-factory/   TESLA MODEL 3 WINS 2019 AUTO EXPRESS CAR OF THE YEAR AWARD "The Auto Express Car of the Year for 2019 is the all-electric Tesla Model 3" says the publication Auto Express: "Performance and range are brilliant, and our tests prove that Tesla’s claimed numbers when it comes to how far you can go on a charge are accurate. True, although you might only fill up your petrol or diesel junior executive saloon every 500 miles or so, the Model 3 Performance has up to 329 miles of range. Most people won’t exceed this in a single day’s driving, and simply charging the car overnight will replenish that entire range for the next day. Even keen drivers will be able to scratch away at the surface to reveal the seed of a personality in the car; that’s a big step for an electric vehicle that, until now, few have achieved."   https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/tesla/model-3/107363/car-of-the-year-2019-tesla-model-3   TESLA MODEL 3 IN NORTH AMERICA FINALLY CAN USE CHADEMO ADAPTE "Tesla Model 3 drivers in North America can now use more than 3,200 CHAdeMO chargers if equipped with a CHAdeMO adapter." reports Mark for InsideEVs: "It took some time but with the 2019.24.1 firmware update, Tesla Model 3 finally can use the CHAdeMO adapter in North America. The Model 3 has been available in the U.S. since mid-2017, but for the first two years, the Model 3 wasn't able to use CHAdeMO adapters, which have been available for Model S and Model X for years. The only way to DC fast charge was to use Superchargers."   https://insideevs.com/news/359101/tesla-model-3-chademo-adapter/   ZF TO SUPPLY DRIVE COMPONENTS FOR MERCEDES’ EQC ZF has announced it is supplying Daimler with large parts of the drive system for the Mercedes EQC. Electrive says: "ZF supplies the complete driveline module. In addition to the engine, this includes the rigid transmission (a single-speed transmission) and also the power electronics including the control software – each for the front and rear axle, since the EQC has two engines. The components are manufactured at the ZF plant in Schweinfurt."   https://www.electrive.com/2019/07/10/zf-to-supply-drive-components-for-mercedes-eqc/   VOLKSWAGEN TEASES ID.3 DASHBOARD "Volkswagen is gradually revealing the upcoming all-electric ID.3 hatchback, the first model based on the MEB platform. In one of the latest video teasers, the German manufacturer shows the dashboard, wheel and central infotainment display."   https://insideevs.com/news/359140/video-vw-tease-id3-dashboard/   PRE-SERIES PRODUCTION OF VW’S ID.3 HAS TAKEN OFF "The VW ID.3 pre-series production is rolling at the Volkswagen plant in Zwickau. This also affects the Volkswagen Group Components division. VW has now published where the individual plants of the unit manufacture their parts for the ID.3. electric car." reports Electrive: "Production of the pre-series drives has already started successfully, and in future, up to 500,000 units per year will leave the plant.he Wolfsburg company cannot afford a slip-up. This is probably one of the reasons why VW is already ramping up pre-series production of the flagship electric car destined for a mass-market, even though the first vehicles will not be delivered until mid-2020."   https://www.electrive.com/2019/07/10/pre-series-production-of-vws-id-3-has-taken-off/   THE WONDERFUL MINI ROCKETMAN CONCEPT WILL ACTUALLY BECOME REAL, AND ELECTRIC "in 2011 Mini showed their Rocketman concept, which was tiny and clever and exciting and felt like something that really captured the spirit of the original Mini. Then they forgot all about it. Until now! Yes, the Rocketman is set to become reality, as an electric car, in China." according to Jalopnik: "According to Autocar UK, the Rocketman EV will share a basic platform and electric drivetrain components with the Great Wall-built Ora R1 electric car, which is notable for being one of the cheapest real (as in not a low-speed neighborhood EV thing) electric car sold, coming in at about $8,680."   https://jalopnik.com/the-wonderful-mini-rocketman-concept-will-actually-beco-1836243520   LG CHEM TO INCREASE BATTERY SALES FIVEFOLD BY 2024 "Electric car battery sales will become the biggest part of LG Chem's business with a share of around 50% and revenues of $26.7 billion. LG Chem announced a new plan for the next five years by 2024, which envisions doubling the sales from around 28.2 trillion KRW ($24 billion) to 59.5 trillion KRW (over $50 billion)." says InsideEVs today: "LG Chem says also that the Battery Business Division "will continue its leadership in the automotive battery business by maintaining its overwhelming technological advantage in the third-generation electric vehicle (500 km or more)"."   MILAN AWARDS SOLARIS CONTRACT FOR UP TO 250 ELECTRIC BUSES "The Milan, Italy carrier ATM Milano intends to phase out diesel buses by 2030. An essential milestone on this path was the launch of a tender for the supply of up to 250 electric buses with a total value of up to €192 million. ATM Milano has selected Solaris as the supplier. The delivery of the first batch of 40 buses is to begin in June 2020." says Green Car Congress: "The 12-meter Urbino electric will be equipped with batteries of the Solaris High Energy type with a total capacity of more than 240 kWh. The electric power in those batteries will be recharged by means of an inverted pantograph—i.e. a device lowered from the charging pole to the vehicle roof, and a classic plug-in device in the bus depot. The drive unit will consist of an electric axle with two integrated electric engines of 110 kW each."   https://www.greencarcongress.com/2019/07/20190710-solaris.html     Send me your EV questions: hello@evnewsdaily or use social media. Now it may have been in German but Sascha kindly translated: "Our CEO Dieter Zetsche just confirmed during the annual #Daimler pressconference that #Tesla is interested in our #MercedesBenz eSprinter for their service fleet. Ongoing talks..." @sascha_p   So we're talking about the eSprinter here. Jerome Guillen, Tesla’s President of Automotive, is also former Daimler. On the Tesla earnings call Elon Musk said his focus was ono improving service including Tesla Ranger Service. Most recently I've seen pics of them using Model S's, but this would be a proper electric van. This sounds like a supply deal for Tesla to use Mercedes-Benz vans rather than some sort of collaboration project. The eSprinter has a 55kWh hour pack and 93 miles (150km) of range which might not be enough. Let me remind of you an Elon Musk tweet from 19th November 2018: "Lot on our plate, so it’s either get van gliders (no battery, powertrain or compute tech) from Daimler & produce sooner or do all & produce later. Not a big difference to total vehicles produced either way. Priority list is Model Y, solar roof tiles, pickup, semi, Roadster."   And: "Maybe interesting to work with Daimler/Mercedes on an electric Sprinter. That’s a great van. We will inquire."   TESLA MODEL 3 GETS ANOTHER PRICE REDUCTION "Not long ago, Tesla reduced its prices by $2,000 in an attempt to assist buyers after the U.S. federal tax credit entered its initial sunset phase" reports InsideEVs, and now: "When the Model 3 Mid Range first arrived, it was priced at $46,000. The price dropped recently to $44,000, and now it’s down to $42,900. Tesla is moving closer and closer to that $35,000 price point, and the base model has yet to arrive. As for the rest of the Model 3 lineup, the Long Range Dual Motor is priced at $49,900 and the Performance model now comes in at $60,900. In reply to a question on the above Twitter thread, Musk said Tesla is doing everything it can to get to the $35,000 base Model 3. Elon Musk tweeted that the car starts at “~$35k (after ~$8k of credits & fuel savings).”"   https://insideevs.com/tesla-model-3-price-reduction/   2019 VW PASSAT FACELIFT DEBUTS IN EUROPE WITH PLENTY OF TECH "After Volkswagen gave China an all-new Passat last year and the United States a not-so-new Passat last month, it’s now Europe’s turn to meet the refreshed midsize sedan. The plug-in hybrid Passat GTE (pictured below, on the left) has been updated as well and can now do up to 34 miles (55 kilometers) in pure electric mode per the more realistic WLTP cycle" reports Adrian Padeanu for Motor1.com: "For the sake of comparison, the pre-facelift Passat GTE only did 31 miles (50 km) using the now defunct NEDC procedure."   https://www.motor1.com/news/304079/2019-vw-passat-europe-reveal/   NEW BMW 7 SERIES PLUG-IN HYBRID LAUNCHES IN SPRING AT £76,815 "BMW has revealed the new plug-in hybrid versions of its 7 Series saloon, which will go on sale in the UK this spring. The luxury limo will be available in a choice of long- and short-wheelbase guises, with prices starting at £76,815." according to James Fossdyke for the UK version of Motor1.com: "That money will buy you the standard-wheelbase 745e xDrive, which combines a 3-litre six-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor to create a 389 bhp powertrain capable of 0-62 mph in 5.2 seconds and a 155-mph top speed. Thanks to a larger battery than found in the old 7 Series hybrid, the new model offers an all-electric range of between 34 and 36 miles despite the new, more stringent economy test. The car also uses the eight-speed automatic gearbox as a generator, taking the energy otherwise wasted during deceleration to recharge the battery and further exploiting its zero-emission potential. In Hybrid mode, the car will do 68 mph on electric power alone, with the petrol engine taking over above that speed, but in Electric mode, that top speed is stretched to 87 mph." Here's the interesting thing about performance - 0-62mph for the fastest version is 5.1 seconds, the Tesla Model S is 3.1 unless you spec Ludicrous mode.   https://uk.motor1.com/news/303916/bmw-7-series-plug-in-hybrid/   BMW iNEXT IN PRODUCTION SPEC MAKES AN UNDERCOVER APPEARANCE IN SWEDEN "Last fall, BMW showed off its iNEXT electric crossover concept packed full of fanciful design and high-tech features. The company promised it for 2021, and we figured we wouldn't see much of it for a while. But instead, BMW just released images of the production model undergoing cold weather testing in Sweden." reports Autoblog.com: "The front fascia is more upright and blunt, and the hood is flatter, resulting in a sharper transition between the two. BMW still isn't saying much about the production iNEXT's feature set except that it will be fully electric and feature all-wheel drive."   https://www.autoblog.com/2019/02/05/bmw-inext-production-test-model-photos/#slide-7513711   LAGONDA ‘ALL-TERRAIN’ ELECTRIC CONCEPT SET FOR GENEVA DEBUT "Since the Lagonda brand’s revival in 2011 we’ve seen only a hint of what the British luxury firm is capable of...last year’s Vision Concept revealed at the Geneva motor show." says evo: "At this year’s show we’ll see another, much clearer indication of Lagonda’s intentions, with the All-Terrain Concept – a car that will eventually go into production. while a solitary teaser image shows that the All-Terrain takes several design cues from last year’s Vision Concept, it clearly cuts a taller and more imposing form than the low-slung, one-box Vision. We learned last year that Lagonda’s first two all-electric production vehicles will share a platform with the Aston Martin DBX (itself an SUV), with an electric motor per wheel allowing for full torque-vectoring, and no doubt some impressive on-paper performance figures."   https://www.evo.co.uk/news/22235/lagonda-all-terrain-electric-concept-set-for-geneva-debut   PORSCHE EXPANDS CHARGING SERVICE IN EUROPE TO 49,000 CHARGING POINTS "Porsche is expanding its Porsche Charging Service – launched in May 2018 – to five new countries, which will enable access to more than 49,000 charging points under single contract, through Porsche ID card or smartphone app." reports Mark Kane for InsideEVs.com "“In Germany, the fee for using the Porsche Charging Service is €2.50 per month. The costs for actual charging come on top of this: these depend on the provider as well as the amount of power charged. The prices are shown in detail and also according to power class/charging speed if wished. The app can be used on all mobile devices with iOS or Android operating system. The service is generally available to all drivers of hybrid or electric vehicles. It is not limited to Porsche sports cars. Registration is possible via www.porsche.com/connect-store.”"   https://insideevs.com/porsche-charging-europe-49000-points/   LYFT ADDS ELECTRIC VEHICLES, 'GREEN MODE' TO RIDE-HAILING APP "Your chances of riding in an electric vehicle just went up: Lyft users will soon be able to request a zero-emission or hybrid vehicle directly from the home screen of the app." according to Sasha Lekach for Mashable: "Using the new setting, passengers can request an electric vehicle through the app and get matched with a battery-powered (or hybrid) car for their ride. Lyft says the new feature will be rolled out to other cities after the Seattle pilot."   https://mashable.com/article/lyft-electric-vehicles-green-mode/?europe=true#8OIiWF8YeGqq   DHL EXPANDS GREEN FLEET WITH 63 WORKHORSE ELECTRIC DELIVERY VANS DHL is preparing to roll out a new fleet of electric delivery vans that will serve U.S. markets. The fleet of 63 NGEN-1000 electric delivery cargo vans are produced by equipment manufacturer Workhorse Group(WKHS) and are built to be among the safest, most efficient last-mile delivery and work truck systems available. Capable of running up to 100 miles on a charge, the vans have ultra-low floors to reduce physical stress on workers’ knees and back, and a high roof design that maximizes cargo space.   HONDA PARTNERS WITH CATL ON LI-ION EV BATTERIES "Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL) signed a cooperation agreement with Honda Motor in Tokyo to cooperate formally to develop electric vehicles for the future market." says Green Car COngress: "Under the agreement, CATL will become Honda’s partner in the field of lithium-ion EV batteries. CATL will guarantee the supply to Honda of about 56 GWh of lithium-ion EV batteries before 2027. CATL currently uses NCM as a core material in its automotive cells; energy density is as high as 240 Wh/kg." Honda makes an excellent PHEV, the Clarity PHEV with an electric range of 47 miles, almost as good as the Chevy Volt which unfortunately will be discontinued soon.   https://www.greencarcongress.com/2019/02/20190206-hondacatl.html   VANDOORNE FINDING MORE JOY WITHOUT F1 POLITICS com's Scott Mitchell reports: "Ex-McLaren driver Stoffel Vandoorne says he is enjoying Formula E following his Formula 1 exit because of the difference in camaraderie between drivers and paddock “politics”." He now races in Formula E for HWA. "The 26-year-old, who will dovetail his commitments with some Mercedes F1 simulator work, hopes his move to HWA could facilitate a “long-term” future in FE."   https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/vandoorne-finding-joy-f1-politics/4332552/   COMMUNITY And thanks to MYEV.com they’ve set us another Question Of The Week. Well good morning, good afternoon and good evening, wherever you are in the world, hello and welcome to the Saturday 22nd September edition of EV News Daily. It’s Martyn Lee here with the news you need to know about electric cars and the move towards sustainable transport.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   FCC RELEASES PICTURE OF MODEL 3 KEY FOB From not being in America, all i can say is the FCC seems to be a really good place for leaks. When I used to follow mobile phones much more closely, there always seemed to be stories because the FCC published something. So thank you FCC. Fred at Electrek says; "Some owners have been complaining of occasional issues of using the app, which relies on their phone’s Bluetooth connection. When Tesla applied for a new key fob using a BLE frequency with the FCC, we speculated that Tesla was introducing the device for Model 3. The documents were confidential until today and now we can confirm that the key fob is for Model 3" It's very similar to the Model S and X fobs, so kinda chunky, and with buttons for doors, frunk and trunk. I'm not clear on whether it will ship as standard or be a paid extra, for many owners the mobile method has worked just fine.   https://electrek.co/2018/09/20/tesla-model-3-key-fob-images/                         LARGE DELIVERY OF MODEL 3’S From InsideEvs.com: "A trusted source that works at Tesla and requested to remain anonymous contacted InsideEVs with some inside information. Makes sense right? Anyhow, they shared that Tesla Service Center techs are being pulled from their usual duties over the next week or so to help with deliveries. Apparently, Tesla has readied some 7,000 Model 3 vehicles to be delivered just in the San Francisco Bay Area over the course of seven days. We hear that the specific goal is for the automaker to deliver 1,000 Model 3s each day for the last week of the month in the Bay Area alone."   POLESTAR UNVEILS FIRST PRODUCTION EV WITH AIM TO OVERTAKE TESLA "Polestar debuted its first production EV and previewed its electric car line in New York with the CEO squarely taking aim at Tesla." reports Jake Bright for TechCrunch. The Polestar 1 isn't cheap at $155,000 but you do get both batteries and a fossil for performance. There are three motors powered by twin 34kWh battery packs and that's before you stick gas in. With a range of 100 miles you won’t NEED the fossil unless you want it to gun the car all day. I can't think of a hybrid which has a range of more than 100 miles, that better than most first gen BEVs. “Polestar 2 will be a direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3…” CEO Thomas Ingenlath said on the launch stage. He told TechCrunch the company will focus more on creating converts to EVs than pulling away Tesla’s existing market share. "There are many people out there who still think a car has to have a combustion engine. Polestar 1 is an extremely good vehicle to get people across that line and once they drive it…understand what an amazing experience an electric car is." "While Polestar’s HQ is in Gothenburg, Sweden, it will manufacture cars at a plant in Chengdu China."   https://techcrunch.com/2018/09/21/polestar-unveils-first-production-ev-with-aim-to-overtake-tesla/   TESLARATI HAS NEW SEMI VIDEO "The Semi has since been sighted in multiple states across the US, and during the company’s Q2 2018 earnings call, Jerome Guillen, the former head of Tesla’s truck programs who is now serving as the company’s President of Automotive, pointed out that the vehicle had already been improved since it was initially unveiled. The exact nature of these improvements remains to be seen, but if a video of the Semi captured earlier this month is any indication, it appears that the electric long-hauler has gotten even more daunting and impressive when it performs a full-speed acceleration run." [audio] Simon at Teslarati says: "The Semi’s performance, handling, and power were specifically pointed out by professional driver Emile Bouret, a close friend of Tesla chief designer Franz von Holzhausen, in an Instagram post earlier this month."   https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-semi-trailer-acceleration-spaceship-new-sighting/   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtwP-aDUtWk   RENAULT UNVEILS SMART ISLAND ON BELLE-ÎLE-EN-MER Renault say they're delighted to unveil a brand new joint project known as FlexMob’île. The aim of this smart electric ecosystem is to facilitate the energy transition on the French island of Belle-Île-en-Mer which lies off the coast of southern Brittany. This initiative follows in the footsteps of the innovative Smart Fossil Free Island programme which has been operational since last February on the Portuguese island of Porto Santo in the Madeira archipelago. For the next 24 months, Groupe Renault and its public and private partners will be developing a smart electric ecosystem that has been conceived to reduce the island’s carbon footprint and increase its energy independence. From 2019, Belle-Île-en-Mer residents and visitors to the island will have access to a fleet of electric cars by means of a self-service hire programme featuring Renault ZOE and Kangoo Z.E. These vehicles will be powered thanks to a network of charging stations located close to the island’s main attractions. This new carsharing service will take advantage of surplus energy produced by solar panels installed on the roofs of the island’s main public buildings. For instance, solar panels on the school’s rooftop provide heat and lighting for classrooms during the week, while the energy produced at weekends or during school holidays will be used to charge the cars. Groupe Renault plans to provide second-life electric car batteries for the island’s largest holiday residences facility. These batteries will be used to store energy produced during the day by solar panels for use in the evening, chiefly to heat the bungalows. This should allow the centre to extend its season which until now has been restricted by central heating costs.   http://www.press.renault.co.uk   A TRIP TO HOSPITAL IN AN EV? "The EV revolution may be starting to gain ground on the retail market, but emergency service vehicles such as ambulances should switch to electric or hybrid propulsion, according to the UK’s leading public health body." reports AutoExpress.co.uk: "The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has published draft guidance recommending public-sector organisations “should make low vehicle emissions one of the key criteria when making routine procurement decisions. This could include selecting low-emission vehicles, including electric vehicles.” "   https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/104719/emergency-vehicles-could-go-electric-and-autonomous   TESLA SIGNS THREE YEAR DEAL WITH GANFENG FOR LITHIUM "China’s top producer of lithium, a metal used in electric-vehicle batteries, said it’s agreed a deal with Tesla Inc. to supply a fifth of its production to the vehicle maker, highlighting the push for supply pacts." according to Bloomberg: "Tesla will designate its battery suppliers to buy lithium-hydroxide products from Ganfeng Lithium Co. and its unit, the Jiangxi-based company said in a filing to the Shenzhen exchange on Friday. The agreement runs from 2018 to 2020 and could be extended by three years, Ganfeng said." "Earlier this week, Ganfeng announced an agreement to supply LG Chem between 2019-2025 under a supplementary contract, according to a separate filing. Tesla may need as much as 28,000 tons of lithium hydroxide a year from late next year based on battery output at its Nevada facility reaching the equivalent of 35 gigawatt hours, according to Benchmark Mineral’s forecasts."   https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-09-21/chinese-lithium-giant-agrees-three-year-pact-to-supply-tesla       COMMUNITY And thanks to MYEV.com they’ve set us another Question Of The Week. Hello and welcome to the Sunday 17th June edition of EV News Daily. It’s Martyn Lee here with the news you need to know about electric cars and the move towards sustainable transport.   NEW MODEL 3 ASSEMBLEY LINE JUST PRODUCED IT'S FIRST CAR It was only a month ago we heard the details of the dual motor, and much more expensive Performance versions, of the Model 3. Or as they seem to be called these days the 3D and P3D! And yesterday Elon Musk revealed the very first Model 3 just rolled off the new assembly line at the Fremont factory. And when I say factory, it's more like a semi-permanent tent. He tweeted a pic of a Performance model, and we know that because we can see the red brake callipers, and whilst it's not totally clear you can make out the white interior. Both are only appearing for now on the P3D. Range: 310 miles 0 to 60 mph acceleration: 3.5 seconds Top speed: 155 mph Price: $78,000 (without autopilot)   https://electrek.co/2018/06/16/tesla-model-3-dual-motor-performance-new-assembly-line/   ELON MUSK WILL BE ‘ALMOST 24/7’ AT FACTORY TO HELP FIX A FEW BOTTLENECKS "An e-mail sent to all Tesla staff from Elon Musk on Friday night congratulated employees for the progress they've made on Model 3 vehicle production recently — but also said "radical improvements" are still needed in manufacturing to hit the company's quarterly targets." according to CNBC: "It also references a man named Omead, presumably Omead Afshar, a project manager in the office of the CEO at Tesla" It's getting very exciting! All parts of the Model 3 production system are now above 500 and some are almost at 700 cars already. Congratulations to all on making so much progress! That said, radical improvements are still needed in paint shop output, GA3, bringing up the new GA4, End of Line and Module Zone 4 at Giga. We also need to achieve sustained, 700+ per week on the body line. Wherever you are in the company, if you feel you can help out in any of those areas, please check in with Jat Dhillon on GA3, Jerome Guillen on GA4 and Omead on EoL and JB Straubel or Christ Lister on Module Zone 4. I will be at our Fremont factory almost 24/7 for the next several days checking in with those groups to make sure they have as many resources as they can handle. Thanks, Elon   https://electrek.co/2018/06/16/tesla-model-3-production-update-elon-musk-factory/   https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/16/elon-musk-e-mail-to-tesla-employees-says-radical-improvements-needed.html   CHADEMO 2.0 ALLOWS FOR CHARGING UP TO 400 KW A while ago on the podcast I was talking with you about the new specs for CHAdeMO and now it looks like those draft specifications have been ratified for CHAdeMO 2.0. Electrive reports: "The system allows for charging capacities up to 400 kW, and allows for charging up to 1,000 volts with liquid-cooled cables without changing plugs or via current collectors. CHAdeMO 2.0 also opens the door to fast charging for larger electric vehicles, such as trucks and buses. The main benefit compared to the CCS system remains: The Japanese DC charging system will remain V2G capable. Furthermore, the new CHAdeMO technology is compatible with Plug-and-Charge functionalities, allowing for automated authentication and payment."   https://www.electrive.com/2018/06/16/chademo-2-0-allows-for-charging-up-to-400-kw/   PRINCE CHARLES WANTS LUXURY ELECTRIC CAR FOR ROYAL FLEET "The Prince of Wales is preparing to add an electric car to the royal fleet after making friends with the brother of Elon Musk, founder of Tesla." according to the Mail in the UK: "While hosting the multinational's board member Kimbal Musk and his fiancée at Dumfries House in Scotland, Charles test drove a £73,350 black Tesla Model S. And he now wants to make the Royal Family's car collection more eco-friendly by including an electric vehicle. Clarence House told The Daily Telegraph: 'There is definitely a plan for us to incorporate electric cars into the royal fleet."   NEW HIGH-TECH 2020 NISSAN QASHQAI SET TO GO HYBRID "The next-generation Nissan Qashqai, due in showrooms in 2020, will feature two new hybrid systems plus a sleek design makeover, Auto Express can exclusively reveal. However, there won’t be a pure-electric version, while Nissan is also considering ditching diesel from what is currently the UK’s third best-selling car." co.uk reports: "Full electric power will be reserved for a separate SUV model based on an all-new platform. It’s likely to underpin a whole family of electric cars spanning B, C and D segments (everything from Juke to X-Trail) for Nissan and its Alliance partners Renault and Mitsubishi."   http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/nissan/qashqai/103735/new-high-tech-2020-nissan-qashqai-set-to-go-hybrid   NISSAN JOINS FORCES WITH E.ON FOR V2G AND RENEWABLE ENERGY Mark Kane at InsideEVs has picked up on a story: "Nissan announced a new partnership concerning electric vehicle-to-grid services and renewable energy projects with energy supplier E.ON" Nissan look like they want to be an energy company and not just an auto maker, with business units around renewable energy generation, energy storage systems, vehicle-to-grid systems, grid integration for Nissan EV customers Nissan say "Nissan uses its Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology to achieve this. It’s a key element of Intelligent Integration – one of the three central pillars of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision. The partnership with E.ON will utilise a V2G infrastructure and Nissan’s advanced bi-directional charging technology. It will allow customers to draw energy from the electricity grid to power their electric vehicle. They can also ‘sell’ that energy back to the grid for others to use. This could represent no fuel costs for the customer – just free power for their EV."   https://insideevs.com/nissan-joins-forces-with-e-on-for-v2g-and-renewable-energy/   SOFTWARE FIX FOR 2016-17 NISSAN LEAFS MAY IMPROVE BATTERY RANGE Green Car Reports has an update on 30kWh Nissan LEAF battery issue: "In March we told you about a study of a small group of 2016 and 2017 Nissan Leaf models equipped with the larger, 30kWh battery pack that had abnormal battery degradation. That study concluded that nearly four out of five of the larger battery packs examined lost cell capacity three times faster than earlier 24kWh battery packs that were studied. This week, Nissan said it would issue a software update for the battery controllers to help stem the power loss. The software fix was reported by Clean Fleet Report. According to the report, the software fix addresses a known issue about the controller miscalculating the available range and charge from the battery. Initially, some suspected that the Leaf's air cooling for its batteries—rather than liquid cooling—was to blame for reduced capacity and higher degradation. The study in March didn't observe the redesigned 2018 Nissan Leaf's battery pack, which was upgraded further to 40 kWh."   https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1117247_software-fix-for-2016-17-nissan-leafs-may-improve-battery-range   COMMUNITY Let’s get onto the topic of chargers being in use when YOU need to use them.   You can listen to every previous episode of this podcast on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, YouTube, TuneIn, Stitcher, and the blog https://www.evnewsdaily.com/ – remember to subscribe, which means you don’t have to think about downloading the show each day, plus you get it first and free and automatically. Tuesday 29th May 2018 and this is your EV News Daily. Good morning, good afternoon and good evening! Wherever you're listening around the world, a very warm welcome from London, UK.  Here is today’s news about electric cars and the future of transport. My name is Martyn Lee and I go through every EV article online so you don’t have to. We'll start with a follow up to yesterday's story about the hypermile'd Model 3, the attempt by Sean Mitchell and his hypermiling partner Erik Strait. After covering 606.2miles, using 66kWh at 110Wh/mile they were able to relax and once again dream of driving a car over 30mph. However there's a sting in the tail of this story. After trying to charge the Model 3 overnight at a Supercharger, it was refusing to take any charge. The last I heard it was being towed to a Service Centre where I imagine Model 3 experts will be waiting for it. As much as Tesla love the good publicity they'll be keen to understand what's happened here. It seems like pulling 66kWh hours isn't much from a 74/75 kWh pack. Also, the car was hired from Turo.   EVS NOW COMPETITIVE, SAYS LEASEPLAN'S CAR COST INDEX Cost comparison for EVs with ICE cars has been a moving target, some say 2020 and some say 2025. But everyone agrees sales of EVs will take off once they are cost competitive. However maybe that day is...today! "In several European countries, electric vehicles (EVs) are now cost competitive with traditional powertrains. The TCO gap is rapidly narrowing in Belgium and the UK, while EVs are already cheaper in Norway and the Netherlands. That is the conclusion of LeasePlan's most recent Car Cost Index (CCI)." says Frank Jacobs for FleetEurope: "The CCI is a comprehensive, annual analysis of the Total Cost of Ownership for a small to medium-sized car (B & C segment) in 21 countries" which includes taxes, insurance, fuel, maintenance and the all-important depreciation. "TCO of EVs also varies greatly, from a low of €597 in Hungary to a high of €986 in Italy. Norway is the only country where TCO for an EV (€670) is lower than for a petrol (€731) or diesel (€722) car."   TESLA SEMI SPIED BETWEEN FREMONT AND PALO ALTO Time for another sighting of the Tesla Semi which is putting in some miles, not only for testing, but also doing some work as well according to the rumours. During a talk in the Netherlands, Tesla VP of Truck programs Jerome Guillen said: "Tesla will be the first customer for its own truck. So we will use our own trucks to carry cargo in the US between our different facilities. We have (an) assembly factory in California, we have a battery factory in Nevada, so we’ll use our truck to carry things in between" Teslarati say "The latest image of the Tesla Semi was shared by Model 3 owner and r/TeslaMotors subreddit member u/AMG76, who stated that the picture was taken just this past weekend."   DIESEL IS ‘FINISHED’ IN EUROPE AMID PUSH FOR ELECTRIC CARS EV's could be getting an easier ride in Europe partly because sales of diesels are in freefall and people are looking for alternatives. "European commissioner Elzbieta Bienkowska said the EU has had a “breakthrough moment” since Germany-based Volkswagen AG admitted in 2015 that it fitted diesel engines with software to cheat U.S. checks on smog-causing discharges of nitrogen oxides. This deeply affected “the emotions in society toward emissions and cleaner cars,” she said.“Diesel cars are finished,” Bienkowska said in a May 24 interview in her ninth-floor Brussels office. “I think in several years they will completely disappear. This is the technology of the past.”   VOLKSWAGEN OPENING THREE NEW FACTORIES IN CHINA FOR EV BOOM "Volkswagen AG is opening three new factories in China with its local partner FAW Group" according to Bloomberg: "Two of the new facilities will be in Tianjin and Foshan, VW said in an emailed statement, adding it opened one in Qingdao on Monday. The plants will focus on bringing more sport-utility and electric vehicles for local production, the fastest growing segments of China’s auto market." "The Qingdao factory opened with the introduction of the new Bora on the MQB platform and will produce battery systems"   BMW WIRELESS CHARGING AVAILABLE STARTING TODAY "Today marks the market launch of BMW’s highly anticipated wireless charging solution for iPerformance cars. BMW has been talking about it for over a year, in anticipation of the launch of their new BMW 530e iPerformance model, the first production car available with wireless charging." says Nico at BMW BLog: "The system is now available for orders and allows customers to recharge their 530e – and future PHEV models – by simply parking the car over a so-called base pad. The BMW Wireless Charging option can be ordered now as a leasing-option for the BMW 530e iPerformance. The product offer starts with Germany, subsequently followed by the UK, the US, Japan and China."   ELON MUSK JUST REVEALED NEW TESLA MODEL 3 PERFORMANCE EDITION DETAILS "In response to Tesla aficionado Ryan McCaffrey, Musk confirmed on Twitter that the car will come with sport-level brakes, coupled with red calipers" according to Inverse "New brakes aren’t the only cosmetic changes coming to the car. It will be the first variant to offer a white interior alongside the standard black, as well as a carbon fiber spoiler and 20-inch performance wheels instead of the “Aero” wheels offered on the base models."   SK INNOVATION BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF 7.5 GWH BATTERY PLANT IN HUNGARY And finally, InsideEVs reports: "SK Innovation held a groundbreaking ceremony for its first European lithium-ion battery factory in Hungary." How long does it take to build a battery factory? Well even though the build starts now, it won't produce cells until early in 2020. "The batteries to be produced in SK Battery Hungary will be third-generation EV batteries, which give an EV 500km range with one charge. The company had announced in September, 2017 that it would start mass-producing of the world’s first medium-to-large NCM (nickel:cobalt:manganese) pouches. SK Battery Hungary expects to start mass-producing and supplying the batteries from early 2020. Once all the production lines are installed, the factory’s production capacity will reach 7.5 GWh per year."   I’d love to spread the word about electric cars so, if you can, share this somebody who might be interested.
