"Repent and believe" formed a two-part equation that was at the heart of Jesus' preaching.  Yet somehow over time, in some circles of the church, it has been reduced to simply "believe.  If you have never truly reached the point of repentance you are missing half of the equation.  What is repentance?  Why does it matter to you?  What should you do about it?  In this episode, we lean into the text and reach back into church history for insight and inspiration.

Leadership On The Run
Getting Your Ideas Accepted - writing a business case

Leadership On The Run

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 25, 2019 15:54

Just because you have an idea or solution doesn’t mean it is right for the business or the timing is great. You need to write a business case when resources or expenditure have to be justified. Approval is usually sought from the project sponsor and other interested parties. For instance, the finance function may authorise funds and the IT department provide resources. Writing a business case with solutions that are accepted requires you to clarify your own position on the solution/s, guide decision makers towards a ‘right fit’ solution and provide context, anticipated impact and identify the resources required for implementation. The SWOT business case template facilitates articulation, presentation and acceptance of ideas. SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. When we look at our business or business idea through the SWOT lens we are forced to gather and consider the facts as well as the impact of future trends. When we are trying to influence others towards accepting our ideas the SWOT information shows we have considered all angles and gives them confidence to accept our viewpoint/business case. If we are verbally influencing others to accept our ideas there are two frameworks worth understanding: David Rock’s SCARF and Stephen Covey’s Circle of Concern and Circle of Influence. SCARF represents the 5 domains of human social experience. We each have a preference whether that be Status Certainty Autonomy Relatedness or Fairness. To more easily or effectively influence someone need to present our ideas within the context of their preferred social experience.

Are you a HubSpot user looking to get the most out of the powerful sales and marketing software platform. The HubnSpoke team is here to help you with all your inbound marketing challenges. Are you wanting to get more leads and sales from your content marketing? Managing Director Adam Steinhardt and Social Media Expert Zaahn Johnson dig deep into the hidden features of HubSpot. This weeks features is a brand new feature from Inbound 2016, the Lead Flows function. Lead Flows allow you to easily create pop up windows to harvest email leads. Lead Flows is a part of the Marketing Free platform from HubSpot. A lead flow is HubSpot's take on a pop-up form. There are three components to a lead flow --- the callout (initial pop-up, with a button), the form (which appears once the button in the callout is clicked), and the thank-you message. You can now create four types of lead flows. This is how HubSpot described it in their press release on November 9, 2016.  Lead Flows, a part of the former Leadin product, allows HubSpot Marketing customers to create pop-up forms. But, are pop-up forms truly inbound? It really depends on the intention and execution -- but non-interruptive or annoying pop-ups can be inbound, and the data proves they work. AWeber found that using a pop-up form for obtaining blog subscribers converted 1375% better than a traditional form. For more data, and what truly makes a pop-up form inbound read this post on should marketers use pop-up forms? Within HubSpot now you can create your own pop-up forms, and easily insert them on your content. To get started just head to the Products & Add-on screen and click "activate" under Lead Flows. Once activated a new options called Lead Flows will display under the Content menu and will guide you through the form creation process.  Are you looking for a database storage option for you HubSpot content? Our inbound marketing experts dig into the power of HubsDb three months after it was released. Are you a HubSpot customer? Would you like a free audit on the performance of your HubSpot Portal? Quote: “I think intelligence in the universe is very rare.” —Dr. James Rice, NASA, Mars Exploration Rover Geology Team Leader   About: 2017, let’s start anew! Let’s just pack up, say our goodbyes and march (drive, fly or sail) to greener pastures. But where to? Canada is cold around this time of year, Europe is in limbo, and everywhere else has spotty Wi-Fi (it doesn’t). The globalized world where opportunity was meant to be infinite is really just flawed and finite like everything else. And it’s somewhat daunting to think, this is it. But for some folks, the answer to humanity’s woes is simply a matter of looking up and towards Mars.   For what it’s worth, there’s no Comcast on Mars, so the Wi-Fi can’t be too bad. QF32 By Richard De Crespigny People tell them stories on what to expect. Cognitive tunnel. Can we pivot so we put ourselves back in charge. He constantly challenges mental models. Each time you post a new blog post add the blog post URL to the appropriate Lead Flow. Simplicity is the key: test lots of different Lead Flows. Note that they are simple eg can’t A/B test them or even report on them eg can’t do breakdowns based on device or anything like that Keep testing: eg on one site we’ve had more than 30 Lead Flow submits in the last week (ie almost as many as the normal leads collected) whilst on another site they’ve had very little response. Which indicates that the way the offer is expressed needs further testing. Keep testing your Lead Flows to improve conversion rates. Gotcha: can’t have LeadIn plugin and the WordPress plugin both active on a site or else the Lead Flows won’t work. Shot 3: Challenge of the Week How to stop people you work with making on the fly irrational decisions. How do you solve it? Have a brief when doing work. This way you can tie it back to the brief in a logical way. Complete your personas Do a content audit and tie it to a content plan Shot 4: Stat of the Week From think with Google – A Marketer’s Guide to Holiday Supershoppers Tip: Check your Apple Maps listing > https://mapsconnect.apple.com/. You will need an apple id. Shot 5: Opinion(s) of the Week https://mention.com/blog/inbound-2016-marketing-experts/ Super useful post, tons of good insights, a range of formats. Has been shared a lot. Aside: Has zero comments. Opinion: We’re taking comments off some sites, and also removing social sharing in some cases. If they aren’t social proof they can sometimes be social disproofs. Shot 6: Pro Tip of the Week Perform an end of year content audit. https://blog.hubspot.com/customers/long-term-content-marketing Goal: with the content audit it will help you identify all of the marketing assets that you have at your disposal and potentially identify gaps or opportunities in your content strategy. ― Charles Duhigg, Smarter Faster Better: The Secrets of Being Productive in Life and Business

Shot 2: HubSpot Feature/Tip of the Week Tip 1: Lead Flows HubSpot Marketing Free: http://www.hubspot.com/products/marketing/free Lead Flows: http://www.hubspot.com/product-updates/introducing-lead-flows-for-hubspot-marketing Gotcha: if you have LeadIn installed as well as HubSpot then the Lead Flows won’t show. So disable LeadIn on your WordPress site if you already have HubSpot installed. Good to test with sites. Simple to setup and target, and easy to add to smart lists. In smart lists, include Form Submits from forms that have Lead Flow names. Contacts who fill out Lead Flows can be enrolled in Workflows, just like any other form submit. Interesting that Lead Flows are under the Content menu, and not under Contacts – I thought they’d be more like Forms (which is under Contacts). HubSpot considers it a Call to Action, rather than just a Form. Tip 2: Excluding your IP address in HubSpot Go to Report Settings and scroll to the bottom Shot 3: Challenge of the Week Don’t be rude to telemarketers – they are people just like you and me Tip: Live as though every interaction will be broadcast for the world to see. Crea tu Marca Personal; Ya has descubierto tu pasión, y has creado tu blog, pero recuerda una cosa, aun nadie te conoces. Pues ahora te toca darte a conocer. Conozco a mi publico?
