Angela welcomes Anna Hunt, who shares her journey from a successful career in journalism to becoming a shamanic practitioner, exploring the profound connection between energy, thoughts, and our physical well-being. Together, they talk about the significance of Einstein's theory of E=mc², emphasising how everything is energy and how our perceptions shape our reality. Anna discusses the importance of maintaining "clean energy" and offers practical tips for detoxing our energy through mindfulness, gratitude, and sound healing. KEY TAKEAWAYS The concept of E=mc² illustrates that everything in life is energy, and our thoughts and feelings can manifest our reality. By shifting our energy, we can change our perceptions and experiences in daily life. Being present and focusing on positive experiences can significantly impact our emotional state. Practicing gratitude and mindfulness helps us to appreciate the moment and enhances our interactions with others. Techniques such as spending time in nature, practicing gratitude, and using sound healing can help detoxify our energy. This process allows us to release unhelpful thoughts and emotions, leading to a more balanced and harmonious state. The body serves as a true autobiography of our lives, holding onto emotions and experiences. Unlike the mind, which can distort memories and stories, the body provides honest feedback about our emotional and physical states. BEST MOMENTS "Everything with mass, matter is energy and that energy is the building block of life." "If we can find ways to shift our own energy, our external experience of life will resonate differently with us." "The body is the true autobiography of our lives. The mind's recording and memory is highly subjective." "If you start the day with the right energy, your day will manifest in a different direction." Rerun: When Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross failed to reach their celebrity guest, 78 year-old ‘Fawlty Towers' star Andrew Sachs, they instead left him a series of answerphone messages, joking about sexual encounters with Sachs's granddaughter, Georgina Baillie. The segment aired on Brand's Radio 2 show on 18th October, 2008, and became the third most-complained about programme in recent BBC history. The presenters were suspended, the station controller resigned, and the BBC was fined £150,000. The event, which became known as ‘Sachsgate', kick-started an era of ‘compliance' at Britain's national broadcaster, and was an early example of tabloid-generated ‘cancel culture'. In this episode, Arion, Olly and Rebecca ask whether the presenters would still be in their old jobs, were it not for the Mail On Sunday; discover a parallel between one of Sachs' greatest comic moments and the voicemails that brought him back to national attention; and speculate whether ‘Sachsgate' lead to the boom in comedy podcasts… Further Reading: • ‘Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross Abuse Andrew Sachs via Phone' (BBC, 2008): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7IHJ66wj9g&t=476s • ‘Sachsgate: The obscene prank calls from Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross that 'haunted' Andrew Sachs before his death' (Daily Mirror, 2016): https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/sachsgate-obscene-prank-calls-russell-9376380 • ‘BBC apologises over Brand prank' (BBC, 2008): http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7692911.stm ‘Why am I hearing a rerun?' So far, I'm about eighty podcasts in.If someone tells me they listen, they usually follow up with ‘that Frank Lowe one's great' (or ‘sick', depending on their age).I always ask why, but never get a clear answer. They just like it.It was enjoyable to record too, but I left wondering whyhe'd barely mentioned Lowe Howard-Spink.As if he'd only ever worked at CDP.Which was a shame, CDP had been amazing, but they weren't my era.Lowe's was.By the time I'd snuck into advertising the cool agencies were the new ones – GGT, BBH, AMV and the agency that carried Frank's name.Year after year, they won big awards for big clients.Stella Artois, Vauxhall, Tesco, Heineken, I could go on.So I will – Lloyds Bank, Reebok, Weetabix, Gordons Gin, Parker Pens, The Mail On Sunday, Condor, Castella, Tizer, Ovaltine, KP, The Hanson Trust, Birds Eye, Smirnoff, Coca-Cola – they were huge. And all of those clients won awards. And, unlike CDP, they started opening or acquiring offices across the globe. But it wasn't always this way.In 1981, only months after opening their doors, they were in turmoil.Totally dysfunctional.Having swiped a big chunk of CDP's senior talent, they didn't have a plan or structure of how to use them.Who over-saw who?Did anybody over-see anybody?Who was Creative Director?Dave Horry? Alan Waldie? John O'Driscoll? John Kelley? Alfredo Marcantonio? Or the recently added former CDP superstar Geoff Seymour? They found that too many creative leaders meant they had no creative leader.Six months in, Horry, O'Driscoll and Kelley walk.On the way out the door, they advise Frank that he needed a Creative Director and it should be the least-known and youngest of the breakaways – Alfredo Marcantonio.Suddenly, things started to work.We talk about why and the rest of Marc's career, hope you enjoy it.

In this extra-special episode we welcome into the RBP lair not one but two legends of music journalism. Former Smash Hits/Q/MOJO supremo Mark Ellen and Sylvia (I'm Not With The Band) Patterson join us to pay tribute to their late friend and colleague upon the publication of our book Phew, Eh Readers? The Life and Writing of Tom Hibbert – the single funniest music journalist who ever lived. Both guests recount their initial and unforgettable encounters with "Hibbs" – Mark's at New Music News in 1980; Sylvia's at Smash Hits in 1986 — before we look back at Tom's early years, his marriage to the marvellous Allyce Tessier and his pop passions from the Byrds to Big Star (via Moby Grape and the 13th Floor Elevators). Interspersing the conversation with quotes from the classic Hibbert pieces collected in Phew, Eh Readers? and the tributes to Tom we commissioned for the book — plus clips from audio interviews with Jon Bon Jovi, Vivien Stanshall and Tom's Smash Hits colleague Neil Tennant — we follow our hero's path through his brilliant career. Stops along the way include his entirely made-up letters to New Music News, his 1987 audience with Margaret Thatcher, his infamous "Who the Hell" interviews for Q and his hilariously irreverent columns for The Observer and the Mail On Sunday. Not forgetting the Love Trousers, the neo-psychedelic covers band he formed with Mr. Ellen... The pathos of Tom's twilight years, following his 1997 hospitalisation with pneumonia and pancreatitis — is touched upon before we wrap up with a fond nod to his old pal "Juggins". We shall not read his like again. Phew, Eh Readers?: The Life and Writing of Tom Hibbert is published by Nine Eight Books on 1st February, 2024. Pieces discussed: Tom Hibbert articles on Rock's Backpages, Billy Idol on Majorca, Jon Bon Jovi audio, Neil Tennant on the RBP podcast, Just Like Gene Autry, the Margaret Thatcher interview??!, Who the hell does Ringo Starr think he is? and Who the hell does Roger Waters think he is?
Hear from Enzo Maresca as Owynn & The Mail On Sunday's James Sharpe preview Matchday 28.
The author and often outspoken columnist for the Mail On Sunday gives his verdict on both the Tories and Labour as a General Election approaches, describes his faith, explains his method of debating, reveals the nature of his relationship with his late brother, Christopher Hitchens, and talks about the impact of his childhood.
From 2016: Until his death from cancer over four years ago, Christopher Hitchens was one of the preeminent figures of new atheism: a prolific writer who was eloquent, witty and in great demand for his speaking and debating. Justin is joined by Christopher's brother Peter Hitchens who is a columnist for the Mail On Sunday, atheist blogger Ed Turner, and Peter Harris, a Christian apologist writing a PhD on Hitchens. In this show we assess some of his arguments against religion, including the claim that "religion poisons everything" and belief in God is like believing in a celestial North Korean dictator. Almost everyone has suffered from a broken heart in their lifetime... from that crushing first love loss to longer more mature relationships but rejection during midlife when a relationship breaks down after decades is so devastating with kids, houses, bank accounts, longstanding friends and family all adding to the complexity of a couple uncoupling whether that's by choice or, sadly, not.Liz and Michelle are joined in this episode by Rosie Green, an awarding winning journalist and beauty editor who writes a weekly column in The Mail On Sunday, is a relationships expert on ITV's This Morning and is the author of the best selling book ‘How To Heal A Broken Heart.'Rosie talks candidly about what she went through after her husband of 26 years suddenly walked out on her and, perhaps more importantly, how she healed. Rosie wrote her brutally honest yet often humorous book to help women in similar positions heal faster and move on. Marian Keyes described it as honest, comforting, and hopeful and Venessa Feltz said it describes what a broken heart actually feels like. During the podcast, Rosie talks through navigating the various stages of heartbreak and the road to being happy again. KEY TAKEAWAYS A lot of women don´t recognise or ignore the warning signs of infidelity. Rosie explains what they are. Often the person who is being unfaithful will feel guilt which translates into them blaming you and being angrier than usual. Rejection leaves deep scars. If you can afford it get professional help, do so. You can be brutally honest and speak openly with them in a way it is hard to do with friends and family. When you are heartbroken your body is under a lot of physical strain, so eating nourishing food is important. If you find yourself in a negative spiral, don´t be afraid to ask for help to break that cycle and do so sooner rather than later. You need to set boundaries and make sure you are not walked over. BEST MOMENTS “Pretty much everybody has experienced heartbreak in one way or another.” “Your book is brutally honest without being bitter.” “It´s one of the few books that actually describes what a broken heart feels like.” “Just because one person doesn't want you doesn't mean that you're unlovable.” “I tried some of my summer clothes on - The only thing that I can fit into is my shoes!” If you enjoyed this episode, please rate, and review it on your podcast platform. EPISODE RESOURCES Rosie Green's book – How to Heal a Broken Heart Life's Rosie website Two Women Chatting blog EPISODE RESOURCES Rosie green is an award-winning journalist who writes a weekly column in the Mail on Sunday. She's a relationships expert on ITV´s This Morning and was a beauty director for 20 years for glossy magazines Elle and Red. She was also Trinny and Susannah´s assistant. When, without any warning, her husband of 26 years walked out on her, she was understandably devastated. But out of this shocking life event came something good. It prompted Rosie to write a book - How to Heal a Broken Heart. It is a heart-warming, optimistic, and sometimes humorous look at what it is like to experience the heartbreak of divorce. The book is full of practical advice designed to help women heal faster and move on. Something that has led The Times to call her the poster girl for divorce. Meghan Markle has won the privacy battle against Mail on Sunday newspaper. The Duchess of Sussex says it is a precdent setting victory. She had sued the paper's parent company Associated Newspapers over reproducing private letters to her father Thomas Markle. Just months earlier a UK high court judge had ruled in the Duchess' favour - and said the case was so clear cut a full hearing was not needed. Associated Newspapers approached the Court of Appeal to have a trial. Three judges have rejected that request. Royal commentator and author Margaret Holder spoke to Corin Dann.

When Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross failed to reach their celebrity guest, 78 year-old ‘Fawlty Towers' star Andrew Sachs, they instead left him a series of answerphone messages, joking about sexual encounters with Sachs's granddaughter, Georgina Baillie. The segment aired on Brand's Radio 2 show on 18th October, 2008, and became the third most-complained about programme in recent BBC history. The presenters were suspended, the station controller resigned, and the BBC was fined £150,000. The event, which became known as ‘Sachsgate', kick-started an era of ‘compliance' at Britain's national broadcaster, and was an early example of tabloid-generated ‘cancel culture'.In this episode, Arion, Olly and Rebecca ask whether the presenters would still be in their old jobs, were it not for the Mail On Sunday; discover a parallel between one of Sachs' greatest comic moments and the voicemails that brought him back to national attention; and speculate whether ‘Sachsgate' lead to the boom in comedy podcasts…Further Reading:• ‘Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross Abuse Andrew Sachs via Phone' (BBC, 2008): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7IHJ66wj9g&t=476s• ‘Sachsgate: The obscene prank calls from Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross that 'haunted' Andrew Sachs before his death' (Daily Mirror, 2016): https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/sachsgate-obscene-prank-calls-russell-9376380• ‘BBC apologises over Brand prank' (BBC, 2008): http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7692911.stmFor bonus material and to support the show, visit Patreon.com/RetrospectorsWe'll be back tomorrow! As part of the Doing Design Festival V2 on June 18th we are delighted to welcome, one of Irelands most talented and respected musicians SJ McArdle who will be performing live for us at the event. More about SJ McArdle. As a solo singer-songwriter, SJ has also released three albums, most recently Blood and Bones in 2011. The songs feature contributions from some of SJ’s heroes like Rodney Crowell, guitarist Richard Bennett (Steve Earle’s Guitar Town) and the Love Sponge Strings (Bruce Springsteen’s The Rising). Irish Times (photo by Frank Miller) The album’s lead-off song, “Two Steps From Heaven” was the main song in the Cecelia Ahern-written movie Between Heaven and Here. Accompanying the album release was some significant media attention and reviews and very successful German and Irish tours. Another of SJ’s songs, “Till The Docklands Drown”, is performed during Element Pictures’ A Date For Mad Mary (2016) and several of his readings of traditional Irish songs are featured in the 2019 movie End of Sentence, starring Sarah Bolger, Logan Lerman and John Hawkes. He performed songs from Blood and Bones live on the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show on Today FM and on Ireland AM on TV3. In 2009 he completed a European arena tour as special guest to Reamonn, playing to 70,000 people over three weeks. SJ has also been in occasional demand as a session musician, playing mandolin for Ricky Warwick as they opened shows for Bob Dylan (Odyssey, Belfast) and Sheryl Crow (Point, Dublin). He has also shared a stage or studio with Neil Hannon, Stewart Agnew, Joe Elliott and Miss Paula Flynn. Praise for Kern’s False Deceiver: “Quite lovely … an intriguing release. Those interested in trad music that crosses over into singer/songwriter territory will find this album particularly attractive, but its accessibility will have easy appeal to general audiences. Thumbs up!” – The Irish Echo Praise for Blood and Bones: “Bravo for an artist who has taken contemporary Irish music to parts it far too seldom reaches” – Hot Press “SJ’s deep, sonorous voice brings authority to the songs. If Whipping Boy were raised in Nashville they might sound like this” – Mail On Sunday “Spare couplets conjuring entire vistas with the focus of David Lynch” – The Irish TimesSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

During this period, Pang decided to set the record straight about her relationship with Lennon. Warner Books published her memoir, Loving John, in 1983. The book detailed her liaison and working association with the late Beatle and shed light on his relationships with his first son, Julian, as well as Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison. Pang has also designed a unique collection of stainless steel Feng Shui jewelry and accent furniture. She has a weekly internet radio show with co-host Cynthia Neilson called Dinner Specials on BlogTalkRadio. Com. Pang continues her consulting work on music for films and is still an advisory board member of Women In Music. She also serves as an advisory board member, along with Julian Lennon, Jeff Bridges to name a few at the Amazon Conservation Team (ACT) organization. ACT deals with saving the rainforest and its indigenous people. This was started by world known ethnobotanist Dr. Mark J. Plotkin and conservationist Liliana Madrigal. In 2008, St. Martin's Press released Instamatic Karma, a collection of Pang's personal photographs of John Lennon. Fine art prints of these portraits have been exhibited in major galleries across the country. Also in the Fall of 2014, she released a book only for the German market called John Lennon & May Pang, Another Love. She had received numerous press coverage in some of Germany's largest newspaper publications. Pang has lectured and given talks at various events across the country including public libraries and most recently at Berklee College of Music in Boston sponsored in part by the Liberal Arts Dept. While there, she also lectured the John Lennon Songwriting class. She also gave a talk at The Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp in Las Vegas as a Special Guest Speaker. She has also been asked to be a guest speaker along with guests Donovan, Peter Asher, Pattie Boyd and others at The International Beatles Week 2015 in Liverpool this coming August. In this age of “social awareness”, Pang was asked to participate as an artist on a CD called: ALL ABOUT BULLIES…BIG AND SMALL. The CD won a Grammy for The Best Children's CD category in 2012.

Why would a reputable journalist base a story on a criminal fugitive and 4 year old tweet? Did he mean to lie or is it something deeper? The team discuss Sunday's under-researched piece by the Mail on Sunday. Is it just a game or simple tabloid dross? Why are Spartak facing penalties? Are their fans whingers? Should Celtic just hand over the title from shame? Why should women be restricted to 2 minute boxing rounds? Drogba enters the race as the Zambian title one finishes. Plus who our hosts pick as places to hate, destroy or give a kick up the backside.
We're joined by the Mail On Sunday's Rob Draper for today's episode of Greatest Games (in association with The Blizzard) and we’re discussing a clash of English managerial greats! When Graham Taylor's Watford took on Terry Venables' QPR in the Second Division in 1982, it represented a pivotal moment in the tactical history of English football. Marcus, Jonathan and Rob sit down to discuss this classic battle of pressing vs possession, and the similarity between this and the modern battles of Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp. For more stories from the annals of football history, visit www.theblizzard.co.uk to explore their archives that contain over 700 articles of stories just like this one!***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. In this week's bumper episode before the summer break, Chris and Lizzie are discussing all things Harry and Meghan. The Sussexes hit the headlines this week after extracts of new book ’Finding Freedom’ were released. The book lifted the lid on the couple’s seemingly tense relationship with the Cambridges and what motivated them to step away from royal life. Meghan’s legal team were also back in court for her ongoing battle with the Mail on Sunday. They were trying to keep the names of her friends who spoke anonymously to People magazine from being published. Chris and Lizzie also discuss the new ITV documentary on Princess Anne and Prince William’s curry catch up with some famous footballers to launch a new mental health campaign. The Royal family might be on their summer holidays for the next few weeks but you can still catch up on all our episodes. You can also watch The Royal Rota on our YouTube channel - subscribe to ITV News' YouTube channel to be notified about new episodes. For more royal news, like the ITV News Royals Facebook page. Our royal team are on Instagram, too.

Intro: Minutes 0 to 5 We had an awesome week and are really looking forward to impeachment hearings. I talk about the tandem skydive I had scheduled for the weekend. I decided to do that after covering an interview with Viola Davis who had just done a plane jump. (Update: that didn’t happen due to a weather cancelation and I have to reschedule!) We talk about Viola’s Emmy sneakers and how wedges and flip flops are comfortable. Royals: Minutes 5 to 13:45 Harry and Meghan are suing the Mail on Sunday for publishing a handwritten letter Meghan wrote to her father, Thomas Markle. Meghan set that up perfectly by sending her father the letter in August after he ditched her wedding. The text of the letter directly contradicted the claims Thomas had been making to the media for months. The letter was then referenced in a People cover article about Meghan in February. Thomas took the bait and sold the letter to the Mail right after that. It was a smart strategy by Meghan and Harry, which Thomas played right into. Harry’s letter to the media about the lawsuit put so many outlets on notice for their negative coverage. Reports vary as to whether Harry told the Queen and his father about the lawsuit and/or his letter. We talk about Meghan’s shirtdresses on this tour. I love shirtdresses but Chandra doesn’t like them because she has big boobs. We doubt trench dresses are ever going to catch on. Meghan is such a natural and is so great at her job. Angelina Jolie: Minutes 13:45 to 17:45 Angelina is doing a press tour for the first time in years. She’s been giving quotes which sound like she’s referencing problems in her marriage to Brad Pitt. Chandra thinks she’s saying that the past few years have really hurt. I remember when Jennifer Lopez made similar oblique references about her marriage to Marc. US Magazine reported supposed insider quotes that Angelina thinks Brad pressured her into getting married and that she will never marry again, but we think that was an educated guess. Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin: Minutes 17:45 to 22 Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin had a fun second wedding with friends in South Carolina, although they were officially married over a year ago. I say they got married so they could have sex, and Chandra reminds me that they dated prior to this and had already had sex, and that Justin opened up about his relationship issues which he wanted to work out before getting into another serious relationship. Justin bought two savannah breed exotic cats at a cost of $35,000! We think they look beautiful but very naughty and that he should have adopted rescue kitties instead. User Feedback: Minutes 22 to 26:30 Thanks to Cristin and Lady D for letting us know how they found us years ago. We love stories like that! That makes us reminisce about the Gosselins and how trashy they were. DogObsessedGirl texted us that she works at a doggie day care and that the dogs are soothed by the Great British Baking Show! Chandra’s sweet late dog Pogu used to love it too and British shows in particular. Her cats now enjoy tennis, which is good because Chandra watches so much of it. Comments of the Week: Minutes 26:30 to 31:30 My comments of the week are from virginfangirls and CharliePenn are on the story about the rogues gallery around President Trump and what scumbags they are. Chandra’s comments of the week are from the Vanity Fair cover story about Joaquin Phoenix. OriginalLala summed up Joker director Todd Phillips’ position on “woke culture” perfectly while OriginalRose wrote about how Joaquin is raising his dogs vegan. I didn’t realize that’s what she was referring to and thought it was about vegan hot dogs! We talk about the trend of raising dogs and cats vegan and agree that this is so bad for pets! We have some controversial thoughts on raising kids vegan. Thanks for listening bitches! Please text or leave us a voicemail at 434-218-3219.

Twitter is ten years old and has had an "utterly transformative" impact on journalism. That's according to Emily Bell, Director of the Tow Centre for Digital Journalism at the Columbia Journalism School. She says it has been the most important journalistic tool since the phone. We'll hear from her and from radio and TV presenter Richard Bacon, one of the UK's pioneers in using Twitter. He has 1.5 million followers and has experienced both the bright and very dark sides of Twitter. We'll also ask if we - all of us - are too quick to share pictures and video on Twitter and other social media in the aftermath of terror attacks, like those in Brussels yesterday? We'll be hearing from Hend Amry who began #ISISMediaBlackout on Twitter to discourage users from sharing ISIS propaganda online. She feels that sharing footage of attacks inadvertently serves the purpose of terror groups who hope to spread panic. Also - the editor of the Mail on Sunday, Geordie Greig, will reveal what he thinks helped his newspaper to win Newspaper of Year at last night's Society of Editors Press Awards. And the Chief Executive Officer of Johnston Press, Ashley Highfield, will discuss his plans for the i newspaper, which the Johnston Press is in the process of buying. How will the i thrive without the content previously supplied by the Independent newspaper? And with so many local newspapers in the Johnston Press empire now labelled "non-core" or "sub-core", will their future be blighted by cuts, strikes and closures? All questions for Ashley Highfield.
Until his death from cancer over four years ago, Christopher Hitchens was one of the preeminent figures of new atheism: a prolific writer who was eloquent, witty and in great demand for his speaking and debating. He'll be talking to Sue Lawley about his family's long involvement with newspapers, about his own views on the ethical problems facing the press today and about his ability to see into the future.
