In today's episode—Part 2 of Dreaming with God—Stasi reminds us of the three core desires we as women share: the longing to be romanced, to play an irreplaceable role, and to unveil beauty. These desires reflect God's own heart. Desires are clues to the dreams God has planted in our hearts, and though we share core desires, there are many that are particular to us as well. Though wounds may dim them, Jesus can restore them. Jesus is inviting you to dream with him again and step into your unique, irreplaceable role in his story. Join Stasi as she shares the truth that we are seen, pursued, and free to embrace the desires of our hearts through dreaming with God again.…..SHOW NOTES:…..VERSES: Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) – Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.Isaiah 61:1 (NIV) – The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. Isaiah 26:3 (NIV) "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." 2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV): "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession- to the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1:15–23 “For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” Ephesians 2:8–10 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. https://youtu.be/r9yveTc1atY?si=UMpq9lggeG7TcZC_ Merry Life Repair – 2 – Freeze Proofing Your Life Welcome back to Redemption Church in Plano Tx. I am glad you are here! I am glad Jesus is here. I am glad I am here to share the Word of God with you. Merry Christmas everyone. We are in the Christmas season. Merry Life Repair There are lights, music, and all the trappings of the season, BUT that does not mean everything is right with the world. We want to not just make the season merry and bright. We want our lives to be merry and bright… filled with hope, love, joy and peace. There are areas of our life that need fixing. Last week we talked about the darkness that is our world and has become front and center in our life. We talked about a light that pushes the darkness out and leaves us with hope. Today I want to talk to you about Freeze Proofing your life. We are living in dark times, but they are also cold times. Cold Times There is a lack of love in our culture.People have frozen hearts, cold as stone.People are so numb, that sometimes we don't even notice it. Social Media – the way we treat each other on social media is shocking. People will rip one another in hurtful ways. It makes me wonder if we still remember that we are talking to other human beings. Family – the way we treat each other at home can be disappointing. We value entertainment than we do family. Friends – Some of the people we call friends are lonely and don't know they don't have to be lonely. They have grown accustomed to the loneliness… we have grown accustomed to not taking care of one another. Generosity & Care – It is all too easy for society to give $20 to Starbucks… good luck getting $20 from the same people to help a person in their neighborhood. As the song says… Baby it's cold outside… Like a cold draft gets into your house… the coldness of our world finds a way to get inside us. Are you cold and unfeeling? Are the people around you cold and numb? This is a problem, but how do we solve it? During the Christmas season we try to change our actions. We give gifts…We decorate…We go to parties…We may even volunteer our time and give generously… Yet the change of behavior… the change in action, does not mean our hearts are changed.Come December 26th… no more gifts, no more decor… it is back to usual. A change of Action vs A change of Heart A change of action is difficult. They say that changing your habits takes at least 21 days of repetition. Some say 60 or more days… There are some healthy habits you can form… but if you ever break the habit… you are back to square 1. But if you change your heart, your heart will affect your action. Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Want to really change your actions? Change your heart. Want to change the things you say? Change your heart. Matthew 12:34 (NIV) For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. Luke 6:45 (NIV) A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. Who you are, and what you do, has everything to do with your heart. We all know this is true. Even if you are not a follower of Christ, you know that what Jesus says about the heart is true. Perhaps we should follow what Jesus teaches about the heart… Cold Times We especially need to pay attention to our hearts because of these cold times. I don't want to be vague; I will just come out and say it. You must do more than change your actions. You must change your heart. And this is everything that is wrong with the Christmas season. We seek a change of action, but not a change of heart. We sing about it… rather than have it transform our heart. We package it and put under the tree… rather than let our heart be healed. We decorate the house… rather than address the coldness in our house. It makes sense that we need to change our heart because our actions are wrong… but someti...
Title: Hurt In The Church Volume 1 “Hurt By A Pastor” Website: www.PastorTodd.org To give or support: www.ToddCoconato.com/give Church website: www.RRCNashville.org New book: www.PastorToddBook.com In the journey of faith, many of us have experienced hurt, disappointment, and even betrayal within the church. Whether it's from a pastor, a fellow believer, or someone else, these painful experiences can leave us questioning our faith and our place within the church community. However, as Christians, we are called to keep our eyes on Jesus, even in the midst of these difficult circumstances. Let's explore how the Bible encourages us to navigate church hurts while focusing on our Savior. 1. Jesus: Our Ultimate Example of Forgiveness Matthew 18:21-22 (NIV) - "Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, 'Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?' Jesus answered, 'I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.'" Just as Jesus forgave those who crucified Him while hanging on the cross (Luke 23:34), we are called to emulate His example of forgiveness. When we've been hurt by someone in the church, it can be challenging to let go of the pain and resentment. However, keeping our eyes on Jesus reminds us that forgiveness is a crucial aspect of our faith, allowing us to experience healing and restoration. 2. Trusting God's Sovereignty in All Situations Romans 8:28 (NIV) - "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." While church hurts can cause us to question God's plan, the Bible reassures us that God can bring good out of even the most challenging situations. Keeping our eyes on Jesus means trusting in His sovereignty and believing that He is at work, even when we can't see it. Our faith grows when we remember that God can use our pain to shape us into the people He intends us to be. 3. Cultivating Humility and Grace 1 Peter 4:8 (NIV) - "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." When hurt by a fellow believer, we have the opportunity to demonstrate humility and grace, just as Jesus did. Instead of harboring bitterness or seeking revenge, we can choose to extend love and forgiveness. By doing so, we reflect Christ's character and allow His light to shine through us, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. Church hurts can leave lasting wounds, but as followers of Jesus, we are called to respond in a way that reflects His teachings and example. Through forgiveness, trust in God's sovereignty, and a commitment to love and grace, we can navigate these challenges while keeping our eyes on Jesus. By doing so, we not only find healing for ourselves but also contribute to the restoration and unity of the church as a whole.
Fix Your CharacterGood morning, brothers and sisters! Before we begin our sermon today, let me share a funny story with you. There once was a man who was known for his quick temper. He would often fly off the handle at the slightest provocation. One day, his friend asked him, "Why do you have such a short fuse?" The man replied, "Well, it runs in my family. My father had a short temper, and so did his father before him." His friend responded, "That may be true, but it doesn't mean you can't change. You have the power to fix your character."We may chuckle at this story, but it brings up an important truth. Our character is not set in stone. We have the ability to shape and mold it through our choices and actions. Today, I want to encourage you to fix your character and strive to become the men and women that God created us to be.Let us turn to a powerful Bible verse in Proverbs 4:23 (NIV): "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." This verse reminds us that our character is rooted in our hearts. It is the wellspring from which our thoughts, attitudes, and actions flow.We often focus on external appearances and achievements, but God is more concerned with the condition of our hearts. He wants us to have hearts that are pure, humble, and filled with love. It is through the transformation of our hearts that our character is shaped. In the Bible, we find stories of individuals who underwent incredible character transformations through their encounters with God. One such example is the apostle Paul. Before his conversion, Paul, then known as Saul, persecuted Christians and was known for his violence and hatred. But when he encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus, his life was completely transformed. He went from being a persecutor to becoming one of the greatest champions of the faith.Paul's transformation teaches us that no matter how deeply entrenched our flaws and weaknesses may be, God has the power to change us from the inside out. We must be willing to surrender our hearts to Him, allowing Him to shape and mold us into the image of Christ.Fixing our character requires self-reflection and a willingness to confront our flaws and shortcomings. It means being honest with ourselves and acknowledging areas where we need to grow. It also means seeking God's guidance and relying on His strength to make the necessary changes. We must also surround ourselves with a community of believers who can support and hold us accountable on our journey of character development. Proverbs 27:17 (NIV) says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." When we have godly relationships, we can encourage and challenge one another to become the best versions of ourselves.Lastly, we must remember that fixing our character is not a one-time event but an ongoing process. It requires daily surrender to God and a commitment to walk in obedience to His Word. As we do so, we will experience the fruit of the Spirit manifesting in our lives—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).Brothers and sisters, let us fix our character. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire.√ The tongue is inherently evil.James 3:5-6 (NIV) The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one's life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.√ The tongue is untamable. James 3:7-10 (NLT) People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. “So I will betroth you to Me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in loving devotion and compassion. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.' Matthew 27:37 (NIV) “Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is Jesus, the king of the jews.”
This week Ps Steu speaks on Part 2 of the 4 week series ‘Matters of the Heart'. The title this week is ‘A Heart That's Guarded'. Ps Steu is not talking about the physical heart that pumps blood around our bodies; but essentially speaking of our souls, at the very core of our being, where our emotions flow from. Ps Paula's subject last week was ‘A Heart of Love' and she spoke about how we, as God's people, are called to unity and this can only be achieved when we truly love one another with hearts softened to God's love. Loving one another in a way that brings unity to the body of Christ can only come from a true, experiential knowledge of God's love. We must understand that a guarded heart is not a hard or a closed heart. We must be careful what we let into our hearts. In fact, it's when we allow the ‘wrong stuff' into our hearts that we start to close them up even to the ‘right stuff' and we become hard-hearted. Crucially, we must operate the gate to our hearts correctly, letting the correct things in and keeping other things out. The Bible talks about this in Proverbs 4:23…(NLT) “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life”, or (NIV) “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it”. The condition of our hearts determines the course of our lives. If we want our lives to go in a healthy direction we have to keep our hearts healthy. 3 John 1:2 (NKJV) states “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul (heart) prospers”. The key to a prosperous or healthy heart is guarding it well. Operate the gate! In order to have a healthy physical heart, we have to guard it well. It can be severely damaged by continually eating the wrong foods, not doing enough exercise, and by challenging circumstances that can lead to worry, anxiety, fear, shock, grief, loneliness, stress, disappointment and unforgiveness. However, by eating the right foods, doing exercise, and dealing with challenging circumstances our hearts will be kept healthy. In the midst of challenging circumstances, being deliberate about trusting God, walking by faith, speaking positively, spending time with good people, taking time to rest and relax, and being quick to forgive… all these things can be hugely beneficial to the health of your physical heart. In the same way, when it comes to guarding our hearts (speaking of our souls), there are three main areas that we need to consider: How we eat. Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” When we let God's Word in we are eating the bread of life. This is really good for the heart. However, we are often so unguarded about what we feed on. We fill our minds with the voices of this world that contradict what God says - through friendships, social media, music, what we listen to, what we watch, what we read! We forget to operate the gate of our heart and end up letting in so much junk that our hearts get clogged up! How we exercise. 1 Timothy 4:8 (NKJV) “For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.” When we live God's way (godliness, holiness) it's like physical exercise, in that our hearts become stronger. Living a godly life effectively positions the gate of our hearts ready to close when the wrong stuff tries to come in. However, when we continually live like the world the gate of our heart is left wide open and anything can come in! How we respond to challenging circumstances. Psalm 27:14 (NKJV) “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!” In Psalm 27, David lists a whole load of challenges that he is facing in that moment - opportunities for fear, people against him, lies said about him, violent threats, relationship breakdown. Yet David was positioned at the gate of his heart...
Things That Will Hinder You from Possessing God's Best Numbers 13:1-3 (ESV)“The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the people of Israel. From each tribe of their fathers, you shall send a man, every one a chief among them.” So Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran, according to the command of the Lord, all of them men who were heads of the people of Israel.” Numbers 13:17-20 (ESV)“Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan and said to them, “Go up into the Negeb and go up into the hill country, and see what the land is, and whether the people who dwell in it are strong or weak, whether they are few or many, and whether the land that they dwell in is good or bad, and whether the cities that they dwell in are camps or strongholds, and whether the land is rich or poor, and whether there are trees in it or not. Be of good courage and bring some of the fruit of the land.” Now the time was the season of the first ripe grapes. Numbers 13:25-27 (ESV)“At the end of forty days they returned from spying out the land. And they came to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation of the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh. They brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. And they told him, “We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.” So, remember, they have been living on warm water and manna and don't ever want to eat quail again… the lushes land of fruit, milk, honey…this sounds really good…. it's everything God told them it was going to be…But then in the next verse…everything shifts…Numbers 13:28 (ESV)“However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there.” Numbers 13:31 (ESV)“Then the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are.” Things that will hinder you from possessing God's best.Elevating problems above God's promises.Verse 30“Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it.” Numbers 14:7-8(ESV)“…The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord delights in us, He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land that flows with milk and honey.”2. Making decisions based off of how we feel. Numbers 13:32-33 (ESV)“So they brought to the people of Israel a bad report of the land that they had spied out, saying, “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people that we saw in it are of great height. And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.”3. Not guarding the words that come out of your mouth. Numbers14:1-4(ESV)“Then all the congregation raised a loud cry, and the people wept that night. And all the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The whole congregation said to them, “Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would that we had died in this wilderness! Why is the Lord bringing us into this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will become a prey. Would it not be better for us to go back to Egypt?” And they said to one another, “Let us choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”Ephesians 4:29 (ESV)“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” James 3:3-6(NIV)“When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one's life on fire…”Psalm 141:3 (NIV)“Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.” 4. Not guarding your heart from negative outside influence. Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Numbers 14:10 (ESV)Then all the congregation said to stone them with stones. But the glory of the Lord appeared at the tent of meeting to all the people of Israel.”Numbers 14:28-31 (ESV)“Say to them, ‘As I live, declares the Lord, what you have said in My hearing I will do to you: your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness, and of all your number, listed in the census from twenty years old and upward, who have grumbled against Me, not one shall come into the land where I swore that I would make you dwell, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun. But your little ones, who you said would become a prey, I will bring in, and they shall know the land that you have rejected.”
This week Pastor Andy speaks about guarding our hearts. The key verse is Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it”. In these verses, the writer of this proverb, Solomon, encourages us to place great importance on protecting our hearts. But does he mean the physical organ or the inner man? The Hebrew word for heart is lēḇ and refers to…. The inner man, mind, will, heart & understanding Our inner parts Our mind, knowledge, thinking, reflection and memory The seat (throne) of all appetites, emotions and passions and of courage This heart is not the physical blood pump of a person but rather the central core place, inner person or soul of a person. Consequently it needs protection because it is the part of us that can be most affected or vulnerable to things like fear and anxiety. The heart is the engine room of us which processes things like fear, anxiety and worry, as well as joy, happiness and hope. Solomon calls for us to be a watchman concerning what is trying to get in and what we allow or welcome in. The Devil wants us to have a heart attack by attacking our hearts (John 10:10 & Luke 21:26 refer). Fear is a root causing things like worry, anxiety, depression, hopelessness. What exactly is meant by ‘guarding'? In Hebrew the word ‘Guard' is nāṣar meaning To guard, watch, watch over To preserve and guard from dangers To keep, observe, guard with fidelity To be a watchman We may be living in fear-filled times, but we should have peace-filled hearts. God did not give us fear and so we do not need to let it in (2 Timothy 1:7). God wants us to know His peace and to be kept in “perfect peace”. Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV) states “You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You”. We can know peace that comes from Jesus. John 14:27 NKJV states “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”. This is not a worldly peace, which is fickle and temporary, rather God's peace which is stable and constant. This verse calls us to control the activity happening within our hearts! John 16:33 (NKJV) says “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” - This is Jesus saying, “Don't worry, I got this”! Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV says “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”. God's peace is the other doorman that protects the entrance of our lives. Colossians 3:15 (NKJV) states “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful”. Let (allow) the peace of God not fear from the devil or this world rule in us. Rule = brabeuō – to be an umpire, decide, determine, direct & control Ultimately, we can get more peace from spending more time with Jesus Prince of Peace and devoting more time to the Word hearing His thoughts and promises.

Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession- to the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1:15–23 “For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. For we are God‘s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.“ Ephesians 2:13 “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.“ Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

In the last Bible Study Podcast, James talked about having patience in the face of persecution (James 5:10-11). And immediately after James 5:12, James teaches about prayer. But, today he talks about swearing in God's name. Just being honest here, I don't understand how this applies to the surrounding verses, and neither do most Biblical scholars. Season 3, Episode 4: Jo NaughtonWe welcome back Prophet Jo Naughton to the Amanda Fergusons Show. Jo lives in London, England with her husband Paul and her two children, Ben and Abby. Jo and her husband are pastors at Harvest Church in London. Jo runs a transformational ministry called, “Healed for Life” and is the author of many life-changing books.Jo was a special guest on The Amanda Ferguson Show in Season 2 where she discussed the how God healed her from losing her 2-year old daughter. Today we are going to dig deeper with Jo and talk about restoration and healing, and the being transparent in your journey. If you struggle with insecurities and self-doubt; rejection and hurts that are not healed, it's time that you shed the opinions of this world and walk into your God given destiny. It's time to heal. After 25 years of marriage and ministry my life and career were seemingly on track. Our church was growing, and my secular career had taken me to the top where I worked public relations for Prince Charles and Buckingham Palace. From the outside, I looked successful and put together. I knew I still had issues but I didn't let on. Others saw me as harsh and unapproachable and I justified it by saying I was just focused and strong. You see, sometimes it's easier to ignore the truth and believe the lie.It wasn't until about 10 years ago I was attending a small Pastor's conference when another Pastor, one that I looked up to, delivered a stunning truth to me as we sat down for lunch. What happened next, as the spirit of truth took over, altered my journey and my life forever. When you take away everything that gives you a sense of value in the world, what do you have left? Is it enough to fulfill your destiny that God has ordained for you or are you living in such a way that your validity is found with Him alone? Heart issues, unresolved childhood traumas and insecurities are keeping you from healing so that you can fulfill your heavenly destiny. Your destiny needs you to be healed! You need to know your value in God's eye. Your security is in Christ alone.God's healing is the most gentle and affirming healing of all. Envelope yourself in His love and allow this healing to happen. Here's how to get started on your journey to heal. Remember, it's a journey:[29:35] Jesus is your great Counselor. Lamentations 2:19. Tell the Lord every detail of every pain and every hurt without holding back. Pour out your heart like water. Ask Him to heal you. Release the words and explain the depth of pain.[32:58] Ask the Lord to fill you with His healing love. I John 3:1. Ask Him to fill all of your voids with his healing Love. Align your words with His. Remember you are going to come out of this on the other side.Remember…You are and have always been on God's mind. Jeremiah 1:5.Peace and security is waiting for you.You have to pursue your healing.Joy is real and is yours for the asking.Pursue your Destiny!Visit Jo Naughton's website for more information on her “Healed for Life” series. Please Tag, rate and review this episode and listen next week for Listener shout outs!References:The Amanda Ferguson Show Podcast, Season 2: Episode 3, July 22, 2019: How Jo Naughton healed from the loss of her 2-year old daughterhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/how-jo-naughton-healed-from-loss-her-2-year-old-daughter/id1449763984?i=1000445034105 Jo Naughtonhttp://www.jonaughton.comBooks:The Many Faces of Shamehttps://www.amazon.com/Many-Faces-Shame-Jo-Naughton/dp/1786235692/My Whole Hearthttps://www.amazon.com/My-Whole-Heart-Jo-Naughton/dp/1786232685/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1534616815&sr=8-5&keywords=Jo+NaughtonHealed for Life Ministrieshttps://www.jonaughton.com/healed-for-life/Joyce Meyerhttps://joycemeyer.org/ Scripture References:Jeremiah 17:9-10 NIV:The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY How would you like to know what your driven-money is driven by? The two most anxiety stimulating topics we have is about money or sex. Both reach into the most personal spaces of our identity. For someone to talk about that space touches us in our biological nervous system. To become vulnerable and transparent about these topics reveals our emotional fragility. Why? Our primal brains are asking, “Am I safe?”, then “Do I belong?”, and finally “What can I learn?”, in that exact sequence. Money and sex makes us feel vulnerable, exposed and threatened. Because of our griefs, losses and traumas - that have been sustained over a lifetime - we are embedded with coding in our subconscious processing. Have you ever wondered why you feel such shame around your imperfections with money? What if we could help you separate from the shame-voice by safely exploring the neuroscience behind why you spend the way you spend, or save the way you save, or give the way you give? Every Jesus-follower I have ever met wants to be great managers of money, but feel they are flawed and disappointing to God. It’s time to open our hearts to Jesus’ teachings about our challenges with money and let His healing graces restore our souls! If you can't make it next week or in person, tune in by live stream at mylifepointe.com/sermons . By Pastor Brandon Dirmann Scriptures - Ephesians 6:10-18 (NKJV) - Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— - Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) - Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. - Proverbs 27:19 (NKJV) - As in water face reflects face, so a man’s heart reveals the man. - Matthew 12:35 (NKJV) - A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. - Revelation 12:10 (NKJV) - Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. - Romans 8:1 (NKJV) - There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. - Romans 5:1-2 (NKJV) - Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. - 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV) - For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. - Hebrews 10:14 (NKJV) - For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. - Hebrews 6:11-12 (NKJV) - And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. - James 1:12 (NKJV) - Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. - Ephesians 6:17 (NKJV) - And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; - Romans 8:22-24 (NKJV) - For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. 24 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? - Romans 8:18 (NKJV) - For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Message Points 1. THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS GUARDS MY IDENTITY Righteousness = The quality of being right both in position and in relationship with God. Righteousness is both judicial (Declaring of righteousness) and gracious (Gifting of righteousness). God has declared and imparted to believers righteous and has acquitted them of their sins through the finished work of His son. “The Devil” is not the enemy’s name; it is his title and the description of who he is and what he does. Devil = Means to slander, accuse falsely, oppose the cause of God with words, to author evil, to persecute good men, astringing mankind from God and enticing them to sin. Slander = The action and the crime of making a false spoken statement damaging a person’s reputation. 2. THE SHOES OF PEACE GUARD MY PATHWAY The devil wants, through fear, intimidation, and anxiety, cause you to GIVE UP, GIVE IN, and GET OUT of God’s will. God wants you, through faith in the finished work of Jesus, STAND STRONG, STAY FAITHFUL, and STAY in His will. 3. THE HELMET OF SALVATION GUARDS MY MIND Salvation = Means complete deliverance, preservation, soundness, prosperity, happiness, rescue, and general well-being. It is used both in the material temporal sense and also in the spiritual and eternal sense. Salvation is a present possession with a fuller realization in the future. WE CAN STAND STRONG, STAY FAITHFUL, AND STAY IN the will of God by using God’s Word to put on the Breastplate of Righteousness, Shoes of Peace and Helmet of Salvation

Shut the door. I know first hand what happens when you leave the door open. I was running late, which I do more often than I should. I had to load the car, feed the dog, put my shoes on (Yes, I was barefooted which makes this story even worse.), and then I would be ready to go. I was in a hurry to get gone, so I left the front door open as I loaded the car. I didn’t know that someone’s pet was on the loose or I never would have left it open. As I lowered my heavy box into and all the way to the back of the trunk, a little dog scampered over to check me out, barking and wagging his tail. The frisky visitor frightened a skink in the flowerbed. The skink both frightened and intrigued my visitor, so the chase was on with the skink running and the dog chasing. Any other day I would have enjoyed watching the pursuit, but I was in a hurry—no time to stop. Then suddenly this chase took an unexpected turn— inside my house they went. The skink was running for his life and the dog was chasing it because that’s what dogs do. I followed the dog, as he ran through the house barkly wildly at the skink. My dog was on the back porch was really upset; he was going mad out there. He seemed to be saying, “What’s that dog doing in my house? You don’t let me in there!” Any other day it would have been hilarious, but not as late as I was. I wasn’t laughing. I was too out of breathe chasing the dog, chasing the skink, running for his life to laugh. It was the perfect plot for a Dr. Seus book. It took me a few minutes to get the dog out, but where was the skink? I searched everywhere, but the fat, purple monster alluded me. I grabbed another box and shut the door behind me, that’s right, now that the skink was inside my house. I loaded another box in the car, came back inside to looked for the skink again. No luck so I loaded the next box.I searched every room in the house again. I carefully looked for the skink, carefully because I didn’t want that thing to jump on me. Honestly, I don’t know what I would have done with it if I had found it. I couldn’t leave it in the house, but I had to leave it. Wayne would just have to find it when he got home from work! Sorry baby, it comes with being married to me…didn’t you know “Skink Chasing” was one of the requirements on your marriage license? But I learned something, something I already knew, but I didn’t practice that day…shut the door! You never know what might be in the yard. Skinks are definitely not on my invitation lists for house guests. Why did I leave the door open? Convenience. Apathy. What could it hurt? I never dreamed that anything would go inside in the few minutes it would take me to load the car! It had never been a problem before. But do we give the same diligence to our heart? Proverbs 4:23 NIV Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Let's look at the Good News Translation "Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts." Wayne's Cajun costumed character used to ask the kids in Children's Church, "How many doors be here? To their answer of two, he would reply. "No, there be three doors in this room. There be the front door, the back door and Isadore." You have three doors. You can't afford to miss a door or live as if there were no doors to your heart. Your senses are doors that shape your heart and beliefs. Eyes. What you see is a door to your heart. Ears. What you ear is a door to your heart. How you process the data you receive affects your heart. You want to give beautiful things access to your heart. They bring the light of happiness inside. Laughter, music, good conversation and reading wonderful books shape your beliefs.. But don't forget that your thoughts or how you process that data is your third door. It matters! It is dangerous to think that what you see, hear and process does not affect you...it does. So be careful. When you don't shut the door to the wrong influences your give fear access to your life. As innocent as Halloween may appear it can give fear an access. Don't let the fun numb the wisdom of watchfulness. I'm not against fun costumes or even the candy treats, yet there is a foul spirit of fear from hell that is always looking for opportunities to deceive people. Be alert. Be watchful. Fear can grip you. I'm sure I don't have to tell you about fear...you've felt it, but just incase life has numbed you I want to remind you. Fear is a heavy weight Proverbs 12:25 NIV Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up. I love Zach Williams Fear is a Liar song. (Here's the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1srs1YoTVzs Zach) Fear is a haughty, loud liar that backs you into a corner and immobilizes you. Fear loves to smash dreams then it points back with accusations that blame and shame you when those dreams don't happen. Fear sucks the life out of your faith, steals your hope and destroys your influence. Fear is a greedy thief. Fear will vandalize your heart and carry off everything precious including your health. You don't want a skink or a snake in your house, so why would you allow a predator that will take more than either of them inside your house? You don't need a fancier door; or a stronger door; a bigger door-- you just need to shut the door you have! Pay attention. There are reasons that God's people have so much fear in their lives; one of which they simply don't shut the door. Ephesians 4:27 NIV and do not give the devil a foothold. I think the International Standard Version makes this verse even clearer. and do not give the devil an opportunity to work. Romans 8:15 NIV The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." That's important. God's Spirit doesn't make you a slave; instead His gift of salvation makes you a child of the King of kings. Let's look at that verse in the BSB "For you did not receive a spirit of slavery that returns you to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!"" God doesn't want a single one of his children in slavery to fear. yet I see so much fear even in believers. Galatians 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be encumbered once more by a yoke of slavery. Jesus set you free so you can live free... but you can return to fear. encumbered, hindered, bound by a yoke of slavery. You don't have to return to fear... you can choose differently. Proverbs 4:23 says guard your heart, but Phil 4:7 shares one more layer of protection Phil 4:7 BSB And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Not just any peace...it's God peace. Phil 4:7 CEV says "Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel." Don't miss this...Peace gets to control what you allow the doors of your senses. It get to control what you think about. God peace gets the remote control to your thoughts, your TV, your Netflix selections. Listen when He says, "Don't watch that." Then don't watch it. Don't take part in a conversation, when you hear Him say "Shhhh!" It's not a diet...It's a way of life. Sometimes when we discover a truth we do it for a little while and then go back to life as normal...sorta like we do with diets. Shutting the door on fear must be a way of life. Even as I was studying this subject I had a thought grip my mind and I had to shake it off. Know for certain that you do NOT have to be consumed or beat down by fear. God wants you to walk and live in peace. But you have a role to play in whether you have peace or fear. So shut the door..."Fear, It's your turn to hear...cause you're not gonna stay here! You have to go in Jesus Holy name."

Download Podcast What a bargain! You can listen to this podcast in iTunes. When we saw the price on the beautiful two-storied brick house, we knew we had to see it. But, when the realtor unlocked the door, we covered our nose and held our breathe—it stunk…really stunk…bad. The tall walls, elaborately crowned with carved molding, wore the tattered strips of what had been wallpaper. The big old house had numerous amenities that hinted it had once been beautiful, but time and it’s most recent and unusual residents had almost destroyed it. The owners had wintered their unruly kids, KIDS as in goats, in the house. And believe me when I tell you, it was a terrible…horrible…no good…really bad idea! As bad as a skunk! What were the owners thinking? Their crazy idea gives new meaning to Zig Ziglar’s term “stinkin’ thinkin'!” Allowing the goats to live in their house turned it into a stinking mess. And your stinking thinking will do the same thing to your mind, heart, emotions and choices! Stinking thinking affects you physically, spiritually and emotionally!!! Stinking thinking can turn a molehill into a mountain. It can twist perceptions and turn a family gathering upside down. Suspicious or fearful thoughts can turn a wedding into a tragedy. Jealous or angry thoughts that fester and boil can lead to criminal and deadly choices. Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, and slander. What is your stinking thinking doing to you? God has a better plan for you. Please read these verses from Ephesians slowly. They are so important. Ephesians 4:17-24 NLT 17So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. (their opinion, their human reasoning) 18They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. 20That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. You can control your thinking. And you better control them because they will either poison you or position you for God’s best. How? If you are like me, maybe you are asking, “But how?” Basically, it’s a lot like farming. Weeds, like stinking thinking, are automatic, but the good things that we want to grow in our lives must be planted and nurtured. Fertilized. Watered. Weeded. We don’t want weeds. We want the seeds of good things to grow in our lives. So what are you planting? Even the youngest child understands If you want corn to grow, then you plant corn. They know if they plant birdseed they’ll grow birds…ha! Just teasing! Stinkin’ thinkin robs us, makes us feel yucky and afraid, which often causes us to make wrong choices. And we KNOW if we sow bad actions, we reap bad consequences! Right? But did you realize that it works in the positive too? An ordinary question that grabbed me A pastor answered my generic “How are things going?” with “Great. I’ve sowed good things and I’m reaping good things.” His reply was so much more than an empty mantra. It was an honest, unemotional reply to my question. That one sentence has hounded me! I’ve used that verse like a goad to encourage and sometimes manipulate my children into doing what they need to do! But why couldn’t I see that the verse works in the positive equally as well. Why haven’t I believed God that when I plant good things that I will reap good things? I want to get better at planting good stuff. Sometimes I am better at it than other times. I’ve noticed everywhere I go I see smiling faces. One day I realized that people are simply responding to my smile. That’s reaping what you planted at it’s simplest level. That is God’s law working in the positive! I plant kindness and thoughtfulness and I look for it in other people. And the wonderful thing is…I find exactly what I am looking for…almost every time! You’ve probably seen it work with something as simple as a smile, but can God’s Word change our stinking thinking? Powerful enough? I wouldn’t say this if I didn’t know it personally, but yes, God’s Word is powerful enough to change not only what you think, but also what you believe. His Word is pregnant with hope. It will birth hope in your heart. God’s words are like buckets full of cool water on a sizzling hot day, like buckets full of His love. Don’t underestimate the power of God’s Word. Peggy Williams says, “praise God for the power of His written and spoken Words. Words that create, heal, resurrect, calm waters, create abundance out of lack, wine out of water, and make saints out of sinners.” The problem is not in the seed. God’s Word is powerful enough to accomplish what needs to be done, so the problem is not in the seed. You have a role in this process. Weeds thrive without any assistance, but good crops must be nurtured. Are you nurturing and cultivating God’s Word in both your mind and heart? Are you cultivating it by renewing your mind, examining and ruminating on specific Scriptures in your heart? Then, do you align your choices with Scripture so you walk in the truth that produces the fruit you want instead of choosing to believe only what you see? Big deal? Maybe you are thinking, why do you keep harping on feeding your spirit, planting the Word, meditating on Scripture? What's the Big Deal? It is a huge deal because it affects your heart. Your heart shapes the core of who you are. It is where you grow your beliefs, strengthen or undermine your will and hone your character. Luke 6:45 NIV “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” I want good treasure to come out of my heart. So what do I need to do? Proverbs 4:23 NIV “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. The NLT says "for it determines the course of your life." Above everything? Really? The things that make their way into your heart, the thoughts and ideas that you mix with faith and believe will affect everything- mind, body and spirit. Most of us understand the value of caring for our body, yet we don’t seem to practice that same wisdom when it comes to our thoughts. Real wholeness begins with wholesome thinking. Guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. That is both a scary thought AND a wonderful thought. It is scary because it is a huge responsibility and wonderful because I can plant and nurture the right seed to produce the virtues that I want to enjoy and share with others. You can’t have a good harvest without strategic planting and it all begins with right thinking! This is not a rigid formula. Walking with God is a relationship. Right thinking affects right believing; right believing leads to obedience and obedience positions us for a good harvest. 2 Corinthians 9:10 NLT For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Listen, my son, and be wise, and guide your heart on the right course. Proverbs 23:19 BSB So let me ask you again...What are you nurturing? If you haven't subscribed to my podcast, please do. Scripture is the God-breathed and inspired word of God. It is the perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct. As such, we can rely upon its authority. Adam Barnett concludes our Why series by exploring why the Bible is authoritative. Why is the Bible Authoritative? Why? | Week 4 January 27, 2019 | Adam Barnett “Our danger lies in questioning too little rather than too much. After all, our questions can be the voice of God.” — Caroline Westerhoff "We confess God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament, as the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct.” 1 | Scripture includes the Old and New Testaments. 2 | Scripture is the perfect rule for faith. 3 | Scripture is the perfect rule for doctrine. We can’t add to Scripture with our experiences and we can’t subtract from Scripture with our skepticism. 4 | Scripture is the perfect rule for conduct. 2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. 1 | The Bible is unique. 2 | The Bible is widely accepted. 3 | The Bible claims to be authoritative. 2 Peter 1:20-21 (NIV) Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. Direct Revelation The actual words of God are recorded by the prophets Inspiration The Holy Spirit guided the prophets as they wrote; therefore, it is Divine Truth 4 | The Bible welcomes our challenge. 5 | The authority of the Bible requires faith.
