How do you detect a particle that emits no light - in other words, something invisible? This is the intriguing challenge faced by scientists hunting for 'dark matter'. In our series finale, we talk to Elizabeth Bloomfield from Oxford's Department of Physics about dark matter, how we know it exists, and why her research is taking her deep beneath a mountain in Italy in the quest to find it.
#369 In this episode, Guy spoke with physicist and spiritualist David Clements about the profound energy transformations occurring within and around us. David shared his journey from struggling with mathematics as a child to becoming an expert in theoretical physics and energetics. He discussed the impact of meditation and collective consciousness on the transformation of matter and human bodies, highlighting how high energetics emitted by people worldwide are shaping our environment. David also delved into his experiences with remote viewing, the importance of connecting with the higher self, and the role of advanced beings in assisting humanity's current transitions. The episode underscores the significance of inner work, healing, and awareness in achieving profound personal and collective transformations. About David: In my early days, I began as an artist, spending most of my time dreaming and imagining beyond the reality I was living in. Which later, after a door inside me opened, allowed me to develop a deep intuitive insight into the conscious quantum nature of reality. But before this fully opened, I was propelled into, and became, a professional theoretical physicist, working in string theory (a theory of subatomic particles and multi-dimensional spaces) as well as advanced theories of electromagnetism in some of the world's leading and prestigious academic institutions such as Cambridge and Oxford Universities. I left this profession because the opening within had revealed to me a very different view of the living conscious nature of quantum reality, a far distance from the mathematical and structured world I had learnt to work in.My conscious awakening, and connection with the higher aspects of myself began just after the year 2000, when I learned to view remotely. From here, my intuition and energetic senses came alive in ways I never before imagined possible. From here, I began a deep journey, moving into, and becoming more heart centered. Unravelling the many layers of past and current life aspects within myself to gain more connection to the Creative Source field consciousnes of love and my whole Self. In doing so, I was given deeper insights into the workings of realities, as well as inspirations for innovations and ideas, that it is my heart felt joy to share with others. The institutions are broken because their hearts are broken. In this conversation with Dr. Rick Doblin, president of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, we explore whether substances used to great effect in the treatment of PTSD can become the scalpel and the flame for stuck culture—cutting delusion, sparking communion. How does philosophy inform modern physics? And how do physicists incorporate philosophy into their research? On this episode, we dive into those questions with philosopher Dr. Timothy McGrew and astrophysicist Dr. Luke Barnes in order to help you fine tune your thinking about the fine tuning of the universe. Critics of the fine-tuning argument will often invoke probabilities in order to get around the argument's deeper implication of the existence of God. Tim and Luke will explore some of the issues in probability theory as it informs the physics of the fine-tuning argument. Dr. Timothy McGrew https://timothymcgrew.com/ Timothy McGrew is Professor of Philosophy at Western Michigan University, where he has taught for the past 25 years. His research interests include formal epistemology, the history and philosophy of science, and the history and philosophy of religion. When he is not doing philosophy, he enjoys playing chess online, coaching at his local chess club, running trails, and making high quality paper airplanes. He lives in SW Michigan with his wife, Lydia McGrew, and their daughters. Dr. Luke Barnes. https://letterstonature.wordpress.com/luke/ Dr Luke A. Barnes is a Senior Lecturer in Physics at Western Sydney University. With a PhD in astronomy from the University of Cambridge, he has published papers in the field of galaxy formation and on the fine-tuning of the Universe for life. In this week's episode of One Decision, Congressman Bill Foster — the only Ph.D. physicist in Congress — joins hosts Christina Ruffini and Sir Richard Dearlove to examine the widening gap between science and policy in Washington. Foster warns that as the U.S. defunds research and sidelines experts, it risks falling behind in the global race for technological dominance, particularly against China. From the dangers of deregulated artificial intelligence to the unclear status of Iran's nuclear program, Foster outlines the stakes of ignoring science at the highest levels of government. Episode produced by Situation Room Studios. Original music composed and produced by Leo Sidran.

In today's episode, hosts Candace Gillhoolley and Frank are joined by Dr. Marvin Weinstein, emeritus particle physicist at Stanford and co-creator of Dynamic Quantum Clustering (DQC). Marvin pulls back the curtain on how a quantum mechanics-inspired algorithm, running on ordinary computers, is revolutionizing how we detect patterns in complex biological data—specifically brain cancer. You'll hear the fascinating story of how Marvin, driven by personal loss, dove into decades-old, heavily-studied cancer datasets with DQC and uncovered new, highly accurate tumor classifications and biological insights that even seasoned researchers had missed. With a unique approach that's completely data-agnostic and unsupervised, Marvin demonstrates how physics thinking can spark breakthroughs in biology, identify clusters with over 99% accuracy, and potentially pave the way for more precise cancer treatments. This episode is a quantum-inspired masterclass—no PhD required, just a curious spirit and maybe a strong cup of tea. Whether you're a technologist, scientist, or just love a good intellectual thrill ride, strap in as we explore how the boundaries between quantum theory, data science, and medicine are blurring in stunning ways. An Australian Physicist who defied the norm and went on the path of the Electric Universe. The "Electric Universe" phrase refers to the theory that electricity plays a significant role in the Universe. Immanuel Velikovsky, an influential figure in this theory, proposed that the universe undergoes periodic catastrophes caused by electrical interactions. Velikovsky's ideas are arguably the origin of the various Electric Universe claims, a fertile area generally centred on the notion that electromagnetism is the dominant force in the cosmos, and gravity is not. Velikovsky's work, particularly his book "Worlds in Collision," published in 1950, suggested that the Earth's rate of rotation was altered repeatedly during close encounters with Venus and Mars, and that electromagnetism had much more to do with these effects than did gravitational or other mechanical forces. His theories revolve around the idea that the universe undergoes periodic catastrophes caused by electrical interactions. Ralph Juergens, inspired by Velikovsky's work, proposed an electric model for the Sun in 1972. Wal Thornhill and David Talbott are the main proponents of the idea that the universe is driven by electromagnetic forces. Thornhill, in particular, has been a strong advocate for Velikovsky's ideas, stating that he "nailed some important truths" regarding the planets as the cause of cataclysmic events on Earth. “We live in an electric world. Our cities are visible from space at night, blazing with electric lights. The electricity courses invisibly in the darkness over great distances along thin power lines. We find electricity indispensable. Nature does the same since all matter is electrical. Yet astronomy is stuck in the gas-light era, unable to see that stars are simply electric lights strung along invisible cosmic power lines that are detectable by their magnetic fields and radio noise. It is now a century since the Norwegian genius Kristian Birkeland proved that the phenomenal ‘northern lights' or aurora borealis is an earthly connection with the electrical Sun. Later, Hannes Alfvén the Swedish Nobel Prize winning physicist, with a background in electrical engineering and experience of the northern lights, drew the solar circuit. It is no coincidence that Scandinavian scientists led the way in showing that we live in an ELECTRIC UNIVERSE®. Why have they been ignored? The answer may be found in the inertia of prior beliefs and the failure of our educational institutions. We humans are better storytellers than scientists. We see the universe through the filter of tales we are told in childhood and our education systems reward those who can best repeat them. Dissent is discouraged so that many of the brightest intellects become bored and drop out. The history of science is sanitized to ignore the great controversies of the past, which were generally ‘won' by a vote instead of reasoned debate. Today NASA does science by press release and investigative journalism is severely inhibited. And narrow experts who never left school do their glossy media ‘show and tell,' keeping the public in the dark in this ‘dark age' of science. It is often said, “extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.” History shows otherwise that entrenched paradigms resist extraordinary disproof. This website is for the curious, those who are eager to discover some reasonable answers about life, the universe and everything (as far as it is possible today) free of old beliefs that have shackled progress for centuries. It requires a beginner's mind and a broad forensic approach to knowledge that is not taught in any university. The payoff is the spark that lights up lives.” - Wal Thornhill

Emma Unson Rotor took leave from her job as a math teacher in the Philippines to study physics at Johns Hopkins University in 1941. Her plans were disrupted when the Imperial Japanese Army invaded and occupied the Philippines. Unable to access her Philippine government scholarship to attend Johns Hopkins, she joined the Ordnance Development Division at the National Bureau of Standards. It was here that she did groundbreaking research on the proximity fuze, the “world's first ‘smart' weapon,” in the words of physicist Frank Belknap Baldwin, who also helped develop the technology. Physicist and fusion researcher Eric Lerner presents a sweeping critique of the Big Bang theory and the standard model of cosmology at Demysticon 25. He builds on the foundations of plasma physics and the work of Nobel laureate Hannes Alfvén to outline an alternative cosmological framework rooted in known physical laws—gravity, nuclear fusion, and electromagnetic plasma behavior—rather than hypothetical concepts like dark matter, dark energy, or cosmic inflation. He explores how filamentary plasma structures may account for galaxy formation, how fusion research using dense plasma focus devices parallels cosmic processes, and how the cosmic microwave background may not be relic radiation from a singular origin. Merging astrophysics, plasma cosmology, and energy research, this talk reframes the origin and structure of the universe—and calls into question the prevailing narratives at the heart of modern theoretical physics.PATREON https://www.patreon.com/c/demystifysciPARADIGM DRIFThttps://demystifysci.com/paradigm-drift-show00:00 Go! Nikita walks us through his solution to the Cyberg-Witten puzzle, the birth of the Nekrasov partition function, and how exotic structures in four dimensions could underlie the chemistry of life. This conversation blends deep math, quantum weirdness, and personal stories from the front lines of discovery. If you've ever wondered what it really means to understand reality, this one's for you. Today's guest is Laurie Winkless. She's a physicist, a science writer and she's the only person I know who's actually made writing about friction interesting. You could say she's a science friction writer...She's appeared everywhere from Forbes to Wired to BBC, and she has written two books. Oh and she won a scholarship to do some training at NASA. As you do.I am very excited to talk about her transition from scientist to science communication and why she thinks that's so important. In this episode she shares:- Her background and how she got into physics- What actually is a PhD and if she'll ever get one- What science communication is, how she got into it and why we need more people in it- Why she brings creativity into her job and why sexism prevented her from doing it earlier- Her (brilliant) books and what you should know about them- How she wrote her first book- Her very interesting favourite friction fact.- One science myth that she wishes would die- What shark inspired swim suits are and why they help swimmingKey Quotes“Most of the noise that we hear on the roads is not actually from the engines it's from the interaction between the tyre and the tarmac.”“So much of the universe is defined by the interaction between surfaces.”“I think sometimes people are afraid to be a bit weird.”More about LaurieFind her via her website or on social media. And don't forget to head to our Instagram for a chance to win one of her signed books. You can get involved with the podcast online too of course. Breathe in as you relax into this calming meditation led by Julie Potiker. She completes the meditation with her poem, "Whispers of a Fifth Force".This meditation ends with music allowing you to drift off into sleep.Whispers of a Fifth Force, by Julie PotikerIn Idaho's early morning hush,I settle into the Adirondack chair by the fire pit, fast running river less than a pickle-ball court away,my slippered feet rest on the cool back of a boulder, smooth and steady beneath me.Above, the Aspen leaves shimmer—green coins rustling their soft applausein the mountain breeze.A plump American Robin bounces a spindly branch nearby. Gravity holds me gently,as it always has,the known forces humming their familiar song:electromagnetism weaving light across the sky, strong and weak nuclear threads binding the world within. Resting my head on the chair, I contemplate Far beyond this stillness,Bennu drifts—its ancient body charting paths we can measure, paths we can question.Physicists tilt their heads, listening for the quiet slip of anomaly, searching for a fifth force hidden in the mathematics. So far, Bennu holds its silence. But Apophis approaches—another messenger tumbling closer, another chance to findwhat might have always been there. Since the 1980s they have wondered—Could it be anti-gravity?Could it be quintessence?A hidden thread explaining dark energy, or light dark mattera secret folded into the fabricof everything we thought we knew. In this conversation, Jenann explains why no system, not even a perfect computer, can predict its own future, and how this inherent unpredictability opens the door to real agency. We explore the paradox of identity, the limits of determinism, the role of memory in selfhood, and why your choices truly come from you. This is the clearest, most rigorous defense of free will in the age of physics. #365 In this episode of the Let It In podcast, Guy welcomed back Thomas Campbell for an insightful conversation on exploring other realities, consciousness, and the nature of life and death. Thomas shared his experiences of traversing different virtual realities, interacting with beings beyond Earth, and understanding the essence of consciousness. They discussed how consciousness grows through multiple lifetimes, the roles one can undertake in different realities, and how intent can alter future probabilities. Tom also touched on overcoming the fear of death and the importance of making low-entropy, love-based choices. He offered practical advice for those seeking to explore these concepts through his online resources and workshops. This episode delved deep into profound themes, resonating with both new listeners and longtime followers of Tom's work. About Thomas: Thomas W. Campbell is the author of Tom's Park and the My Big TOE trilogy that “unifies science and philosophy, physics and metaphysics, mind and matter, purpose and meaning, the normal and the paranormal”. The attributes assigned by some theologians to their concept of God are very similar to the attributes of the LCS, the larger consciousness system as scientifically derived by Tom. Tom has said for over a decade that the next big cultural and scientific paradigm shift is virtual reality. Virtual reality is now a more widely accepted concept in science and technology. Tom combines a fundamental understanding of consciousness and virtual reality to back up this prediction with a logically and scientifically derived My Big TOE theory. This theory explains most of the remaining big questions in both physics and metaphysics”. Tom's model of Consciousness derives Quantum Mechanics and Relativity, eliminates quantum weirdness, and builds a scientific foundation under much of what was previously deemed “paranormal”. This comprehensive, logical, and scientific explanation of both objective and subjective reality perfectly defines a Big TOE. A former NASA physicist, Tom worked as a large complex systems analyst by day and collected evidential information in the larger consciousness system by night. Tom delivers information through his unique abilities and experience that you will not find anywhere else. Key Points Discussed: (00:00) - What He Sees Beyond This Reality Is MIND-BLOWING! It's a very mysterious world. Physicists can't figure out what matter is, nor do they know what consciousness is. Psychologists have different ideas about the brain; sociologists, different theories about how people interact; and so on and so forth. It's very, very complicated. And if you don't want to strain your brain, like people have done over many millennia, then just chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. So in one sentence, what would you tell somebody who didn't was a an acquaintance of yours, maybe a classmate or a relative who doesn't know anything about chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa in one sentence, what would you tell them was your experience this morning? ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Jessica's Genre: Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood. Celebrating Jessica Marie's half birthday with her genre of choice, ACOFAE dives into the Romance genre with Ali Hazelwood's Love, Theoretically. Surprising maybe someone, Laura Marie loved this story that is filled with Academia, it's politics, people pleasing, and learning how to truly be yourself. Oh and also unlearning the need for male validation. ACOFAE loves that. Elsie is a Physicist and needs a job badly. Jack is a Physicist and has met Elsie before in different circumstances. Shenanigans ensue that are as delightful as they are meaningful. Throw in a delightful female friendship dynamic and a grand gesture at the end and Laura Marie and Jessica Marie are eating this story up. Why are men. Why is the universe the way it is? Wherever we look, we find ordered structures: from stars to planets to living cells. Molecular Storms: The Physics of Stars, Cells and the Origin of Life (Springer Nature, 2023) shows that the same driving force is behind structure everywhere: the incessant random motion of the components of matter. Physicists call it thermal noise. Let's call it the molecular storm. This storm drives the fusion reactions that make stars shine. It drives whirlpools and currents in atmospheres and oceans. It spins and distorts molecules until they are in the right orientation to react and form new substances. In living cells, it drives proteins to fold and molecules to self-assemble. It is behind every detail of the astonishing molecular machines that control cellular processes. Using cutting-edge research, "Molecular Storms" takes us on a dazzling journey from the early universe to the interior of the smallest living things. There, in a nanoscale world of biological devices, it explains the physics behind the chemical system which we call Life. Whether you're someone with a general interest in science or a student looking to add context to your studies, this book is for you. On the 16th July 2021 I released an episode of the show which became so popular that many listeners have been asking for a follow-up ever since. That episode was Time Slips, and it dealt with an element of the paranormal which many find completely unbelievable...until they hear the stories. We know that many famous Physicists such as both the late Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein believed that time travel was theoretically possible....it was just that our technology was lagging behind...way behind, and still is.The energy needed to accomplish a feat such as time travel is almost unthinkable and it's fair to say that it'll be hundreds of years in the future before the human race will even begin to dabble in this paradoxical and potentially dangerous element of science...but what if some people have already crossed over into another time...and come back to tell the story.
Politically-driven chaos is disrupting U.S. scientific institutions and creating challenges for science in Canada. Science is a global endeavour and collaborations with the U.S. are routine. In this special episode of Quirks & Quarks, we explore what Canadian scientists are doing to preserve their work to assert scientific sovereignty in the face of this unprecedented destabilization. Canadian climate scientists brace for cuts to climate science infrastructure and data U.S. President Donald Trump's attacks on climate science are putting our Earth observing systems, in the oceans and in orbit, at risk. Canadian scientists who rely on U.S. led climate data infrastructure worry about losing long-term data that would affect our ability to understand our changing climate. With: Kate Moran, the president and CEO of Ocean Networks Canada and Emeritus Professor of Oceanography at the University of Victoria Debra Wunch, Physicist at the University of TorontoChris Fletcher, Department of Geography and Environmental Management at the University of WaterlooU.S. cuts to Great Lakes science and monitoring threaten our shared freshwater resourceU.S. budget and staffing cuts are jeopardizing the long-standing collaboration with our southern neighbour to maintain the health of the Great Lakes, our shared resource and the largest freshwater system in the world. Our chat today is with Dr. Kevin Knuth, who joins us from Albany. He is a Professor of Physics at the University at Albany (SUNY). He is a former NASA research scientist designing artificial intelligence algorithms for astrophysical data analysis. His current research interests include the foundations of physics, quantum information, autonomous robotics, the search for and characterization of extrasolar planets, and unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). Like any good scientist, Kevin is truly interested in the weird. He is inspired by space and by gravity. We learn on what is intimidating vs what is scary, what is perceived as magic, telepathy and intuition, “contriving coincidences”, the importance of the subjective experience, investigating UAPs, a story about the Matrix and a hairy raising story about a personal experience that became a catalyst for his sleeplessness and his deep curiosity about the weird. What is going on? Why is there not nothing? For decades, we've thought the control center of life lies in DNA. But a new scientific framework is emerging that challenges that idea, and suggests that vast portions of the genome are immaterial and lie outside the physical world. Today, physicist Dr. Brian Miller shares his perspective on the cutting-edge, potentially revolutionary research of mathematical biologist Dr. Richard Sternberg on the immaterial aspects of the genome. In this exchange, Dr. Miller shares several examples of the immaterial nature of life. These ideas point towards the earliest stages of the next great scientific revolution and have significant implications for the intelligent design debate. Source

First up on the podcast, freelance journalist Zack Savitsky joins host Sarah Crespi to talk about the strange metal state. Physicists are probing the behavior of electrons in these materials, which appear to behave like a thick soup rather than discrete charged particles. Many suspect insights into strange metals might lead to the creation of room-temperature superconductors, highly desired materials that promise lossless energy delivery and floating trains. A few years ago, researcher Nora Zannoni came on the show to talk about our oxidation fields: zones of highly reactive radicals our bodies naturally produce that surround us and interact with nearby chemicals. Now she's back to discuss how our personal oxidation fields interact with personal care products—such as hand lotion, for example—and the resulting effects those products can end up having on the air we breathe indoors. Zannoni is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate of Italy's National Research Council. The work for the paper was done when she was a postdoc scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry. This week's episode was produced with help from Podigy.
