Först ut blir Acroud (00:36:49) som hade lite motvind i Q3 med sjunkande omsättning och EBITDA likt många affiliate-bolag. SaaS-delen fortsatte att växa och EBITDA är fortsatt positiv. Skuldsättningen är dock ganska besvärande….Gaming Corps (00:43:53) är en av de få B2B-leverantörerna kvar efter Fantasma blev utköpt. Bolagen har tagit in pengar, rapporterat Q3 och satsar nu på tillväxt. Kan 2025 uppvisa fin tillväxt på topline kan caset bli intressant. Mediacle Group (00:55:16) är ett svensk/indiskt bolag som levererar någon form av helhetslösning inom iGaming-mjukvara. VD äger 84% av bolaget och transparensen låg. Värderingen är också oerhört låg, men oklart vad den stora nettokassan ska användas till. Fable Media Group (01:05:11) är förmodligen det enda nordiska högpresterande affebolaget 2024. De har högst marginal och enda affe-bolaget med positiv avkastning YTD. Är man sugen på affiliate-bolag kanske det är hit man ska kolla?För att ge ett glasklart avslut rundar vi av med Synsam (01:13:25). $SYNSAM är ett nordiskt glasögon-oligopol som handlas till EV/EBIT 10. Plejden plöjer på och det är svårt att inte imponeras av bolagets framfart i en svår makroekonomisk miljö. Det blir snack om produkter, produktlanseringar, marginaler och allt som hör till. Sedan blir det dags för danska mobilspelsbolaget Trophy Games (01:18:44). Gedda blir lycklig att prata om bolagets mycket speciell och nischade typ av Manager-spel. The state lawmakers have set the launch deadline for January 1, 2023, exactly 374 days after Governor Mike DeWine signed the bill on December 23, 2021.The holdup is mainly due to the bureaucracy issues, but also the fact that there are a lot of conflicting interests, as many players want a cut of the $3.35 billion in estimated yearly revenue. Furthermore, multiple agencies regulating the industry have slowed the timeline, too. However, Ohio bettors remain hopeful that they will be able to place their first wagers at the start of the new year.  In our next story, a new major industry player is entering the Canadian sports betting market. NorthStar Bets has officially launched its online casino and sportsbook in the Ontario market. For the launch, North Star Gaming has partnered up with Playtech, which will provide live casino services and its IMS platform. Both companies are hoping that this partnership will allow them to gain a firm foothold in the north of the continent and become a leader in the Canadian iGaming market. For Playtech, the agreement comes on the heels of a very profitable year, mainly due to their successful B2B operations. Besides the Northstar partnership, the company has struck a deal with Caliente which should help them increase their presence in the Mexican market. In our last story this week, casino giant BetMGM has announced an agreement with PokerGo which involves the final table of the BetMGM Poker Championship and the $25K freeroll tournament. The gaming brand of MGM entertainment and the largest poker provider in the world have agreed to bring the finishing stage of the Championship to the PokerGo Studio at the ARIA Resort & Casino.The final table will feature the six players and take place on Sunday, June 26, during the ARIA Poker Classic.  The ASX 200 shrugged off the latest tech wreck from Meta and focused on Amazon and the better futures finishing up 42 points to 7120 (0.6%). A relatively quiet day until a massive late surge on the match out as we await the US jobs number and start to digest the results in more detail. Banks were mixed with WBC up on broker comments and the big bank basket kicked higher to $170.62 (0.7%). MQG bounced 1.5% ahead of numbers next week though limited recovery in the wealth managers. JHG numbers not moving he dial much, falling 0.8%. Miners were mixed as BHP fell 0.5% and FMG rose 1.0% with lithium stocks turning positive late. S32 up 3.3% the stand-out. Energy doing ok on oil prices but muted, STO up 1.0% and WPL up1.1 %. Industrials were flat and CSL finishing the SPP pricing period rising 0.5%. Last day Monday and then it closes. ALL rose 0.8% as the Playtech deal came up lemons, SEK down 3.8% and QAN rising 4.9% as Joyce talked WA closures. In corporate news, NWS shot the lights out with good results up 5.7% and REA delivered but fell slightly down 0.4%. BLD fell 2.1% after the price was adjusted for the capital return. The RBA releases the SoMP today, the statement of monetary policy and was greeted with a bit a bounce in 10-year yields up to 1.96%. Asian market starting to come back online with HK the standout. Jason Ader has a long history in gaming starting as a Wall Street analyst in the 1980s. The ASX 200 finished up 9 to 7379 in a topsy turvy day. Banks once again the swing vote with the Big Bank Basket down to $175.80 (-1.3%) as CBA fell another 1.6% and NAB down 0.7%. Insurers and financials bucked the downdraft with MQG up 1.1% and IAG putting in a strong day, up 3.4%. Elsewhere industrials fared better with TLS up 2.0% TCL up 0.7% and WOW rising 1.1%. Healthcare too taking its medicine and feeling better, CSL up 1.1% and SHL rising 3.0%. Tech mixed with the All Tech Index inching higher by 0.2% despite APT down 1.1%. REITs firmed led as usual by GMG up 1.8%. Miners were firm despite commodity prices with BHP up 0.2% and RIO putting on 0.7%. Gold miners were well sought as EVN bought out remaining Ernest Henry stake with brokers liking the deal and the stock up 9.7%. Energy stocks on the wane as oil prices slipped on a coordinated approach from US and China to release some of their strategic stockpiles. In corporate news, ALL down 3.6% on results and the extended timeline for the popular Playtech takeover. EVN helping the sector higher on its acquisition, a few AGMs around again with AAC easing back 7.0% after comments, MNS saw some board room reshuffling after ASIC inquiries, down 5.6%. Mr. Rafael (Rafi) Ashkenazi, is a former The Stars Group CEO and a future Executive Chairman of Hard Rock Digital. Previously a Playtech COO, he joined the Rational Group in 2013 and had been with the company that eventually became known as The Stars Group for seven years. Taking over as CEO in 2016, Rafi is widely recognized to have played an integral role in the business leaving an incredible footprint on all it's aspects. From January 2010 to September 2011, Mr. Ashkenazi served as Vice President of Business Operations of Playtech. He was appointed Senior Vice President of Strategy for The Stars Group in April 2015, Chief Executive Officer of Stars Interactive Group in November 2015, Interim Chief Executive Officer of The Stars Group in March 2016 and then permanent Chief Executive Officer of The Stars Group in November 2016. The governor is looking to renegotiate the terms that go back to 2004.Playtech Suspends Share Buyback Plan and Dividend PaymentsCiting the current coronavirus outbreak on a global scale, Playtech’s Board of Directors has suspended plans for a share buyback program. It also suspended all dividend payments to shore up short-term cash flow. The virus is disrupting the company’s Live Casino business segment as well as online sports betting.. The estimated loss in sports betting is $4.3 million a month. Playtech operated self-service betting terminals in several regulated markets. This has been projected to account for an estimated 10 percent of the company’s EBITDA in 2020. Postponing share buybacks and dividends would save an estimated $70.2 million.

Playtech describes itself as the world's largest online gambling software supplier. It has achieved monumental growth to bolster its leading position in gaming software by largely relying on the creativity of its DevOps teams around the world. Needless to say, givings its developers and operations teams such freedom could come at a price, as managing the data and input of such as widespread and far-reaching DevOps structure would, for many companies, end in chaos. In this episode of The New Stack Makers podcast, Aleksandr Tavgen, technical architect, for Playtech described how the Isle of Man-based company has succeeded in achieving what the company says is “full observability” of Playtech's operations platform thanks largely to InfluxDB 2.0, Flux and the OpenTracingAPI.

In this episode, we spoke with a school friend of mine who set out to live a Miami Vice lifestyle and through his own hard work achieved it. These days he introduces me and other school friends to people like Anthony Joshua and Shane Warne who count him amongst their friends. Private jets and glamorous locations around the world are now the norm. Professionally he’s known as Hong Kong Tom. He’s an Asian online gambling pioneer known best for brands like Dafabet, sponsors of Fulham and Celtic. When we were teenagers Tom frustrated the hell out of the teachers because he was bright but not particularly motivated by school. He left school in the UK with one A-Level. Tom’s ability to withstand the losses that come with taking risk is why his story stands out. Three weeks after getting married, and well before any significant wealth, he was sued and had to borrow $3.5m from a friend to avoid going bankrupt. So motivated was he to repay the debt, he risked his marriage by working 24/7 for two years. It showed him what he could do when he put his mind to it. What I like most about Tom is his ability to focus but never lose sight of the bigger picture including a super-skill in bringing his wide circle of friends and colleagues together.
