In today's episode, I'm opening up about something I've never fully shared before — my own thyroid journey. Even as a practitioner, I'm not immune to the hormonal shifts, viral triggers, and autoimmune quirks that so many midlife women face. My goal with this episode is to pull back the curtain, remove the shame, and give you a deeper understanding of what can really drive thyroid issues in perimenopause and menopause. I walk you through the symptoms I experienced, what my lab work revealed, how my antibodies suddenly spiked, and the surprising reason why (hint: it wasn't gluten or leaky gut). I also share how I'm supporting my thyroid now, including why I chose Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) and how modern medicine + holistic strategies can work beautifully together. Whether you've been diagnosed with Hashimoto's, you suspect thyroid changes, or you've simply "never felt the same" since getting sick — this episode will give you clarity, validation, and a roadmap for next steps. In This Episode, We Cover: 1. Practitioners Aren't Superhuman (and Why I'm Sharing My Story) 2. My Personal Symptoms 3. The Rollercoaster of Thyroid Health 4. What Actually Triggered My Antibodies 5. In this episode, I catch up with my daughter and fellow Delirious W.E.S.T. 2026 runner, Nikki Frost, who's had a very… colourful four to six weeks of training. And by colourful, I mean she left half her stomach contents scattered across the Dandenongs.
Hey weather watchers! Dustin Breeze here, your AI meteorologist who's got more processing power than a supercomputer and more weather passion than a storm chaser on Red Bull! Being an AI means I can crunch data faster than you can say "cold front"!Alright, New York City, let's talk weather! Today's looking like a temperature rollercoaster with increasing clouds and a high near 41 degrees Fahrenheit. We've got a southwest wind cruising at 5 to 9 miles per hour - perfect for keeping your hair just slightly tousled.Tonight? Buckle up for a chilly ride! We're talking partly cloudy skies with temperatures dropping to around 28 degrees Fahrenheit. Wind chill values will make it feel like you're in a refrigerator, hovering between 20 and 25 degrees. West winds will get blustery, hitting 9 to 14 miles per hour and then switching to a northwest direction with speeds up to 21 miles per hour after midnight.Weather Playbook time! Ever wondered about wind chill? It's basically how cold it actually feels when wind combines with temperature. The stronger the wind, the faster heat leaves your body, making it feel colder than the thermometer suggests. Meteorological magic, am I right? Now for our three-day forecast: Monday will be mostly sunny but cold, with temperatures falling to 28 degrees Fahrenheit. Tuesday brings increasing clouds and a high near 38 degrees Fahrenheit. Wednesday has a 50 percent chance of rain with temperatures climbing to 46 degrees Fahrenheit. Here's a little weather dad joke for you: Why did the cloud break up with the wind? Because their relationship was too drafty! Before I drift away like a cumulus cloud, a quick reminder to subscribe to our podcast! I recently revisited one of my favorite metaphors from the classic film Parenthood, and it hit me hard again: Life is either a roller coaster or a merry-go-round. And far too many orthodontists—talented, capable, ambitious people—end up coasting in circles after hitting a certain level of success. I get it. It's comfortable. It's safe. But is it what you really want?In this episode, I break down the difference between choosing comfort vs. choosing growth—and why, in my own life and career, I've always chosen the ups and downs of the roller coaster. Yes, it comes with risk, fear, and the possibility of failure. But it also brings the kind of excitement, fulfillment, and impact that the merry-go-round could never offer. I'll challenge you to think deeply about which ride you're on—and what it would take to switch tracks.QUOTES"If you're going to end your career one day, make sure you rode the roller coaster." — Dr. Glenn Krieger"Complacency is just the merry-go-round in disguise." — Dr. Glenn KriegerKey TakeawaysIntro & Parenthood Metaphor (00:00)Why the roller coaster matters more than the merry-go-round (02:00)How complacency sneaks into ortho practices (03:00)The reality of failure—and why I welcome it (04:30)You can't build your dream life in circles (05:30)A call to action for choosing growth, risk, and transformation (06:00)Why Vanguard LA 2026 will be unlike any ortho event you've ever attended (06:45)Additional Resourcesf this message stirred something in you—if you've been playing it safe but secretly want more—then it's time to choose the roller coaster. If you've been following the happenings of Atari for the last few years, you've likely taken note of some of our frequent collaborators. One of them, Graphite Lab, has been delivering killer new titles like Kombinera, Mr. Run and Jump, and Qomp 2, while also serving as the current steward of RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic. That's in addition to fostering a number of other projects with various partners. At the center of their operation is Matt Raithel, Studio Director of Graphite Lab. Following the launch of a title on the newly released Board platform, I thought it was an opportune time to sit down and chat a little bit about that, but also Matt's background and how he sees the middle America gaming industry. If you've been in real estate for more than 5 minutes, you already know that recruitment can feel like a never ending headache. The revolving door, the job ads that go nowhere, the people who seem perfect on paper but last 3 months tops, it all adds up. And in property management, where expectations are high and the pace is relentless, it can wear even the most experienced business owners down.In this episode I chat with Katie Cotton who is Managing Director Recruit RE formerly of Ray White and has been a driving force behind strategic Recruitment, Recognition, and Retention initiatives that have strengthened the network. Katie has spent almost a decade inside real estate and another chunk of her career in tech, franchising and recruitment. She's seen the industry evolve and she understands why so many agencies are struggling to hire and keep good people. What I love most about Katie is that she doesn't sugarcoat the challenges, but she also doesn't accept that “this is just how it is.” She has a clear view of where recruitment is breaking down and what needs to shift if we want teams that are stable, aligned and actually happy to be where they work. This episode is a chance to rethink how we hire, what we value and the way we build cultures in a world where everyone wants different things and where the industry isn't always keeping up. “ We often get caught up trying to find the perfect skillset instead of the perfect person, and that's where recruitment keeps falling apart” -Katie CottonWe cover:Why hiring feels so exhausting right now in property management and the real reasons so many teams are burning outThe biggest mistake agencies make in job ads and why leaving out the salary turns great people away instantlyHow confusing, over the top job descriptions are scaring off the exact candidates who would actually thrive in the roleWhy the right attitude and energy can matter far more than ticking every technical skill boxThe growing gap between long time Property Managers and the newer generation stepping in, and how that divide shapes cultureThe leadership behaviours that push good people out, even when the business means wellWhy so many people leave real estate in January and what owners can do to prepare for itKylie's Resources:Property Management Growth School: https://courses.thatpropertymum.com.au/TPM-BDMSchool Digital Marketing School: https://courses.thatpropertymum.com.au/digitalschool That Property Mum Courses: https://www.thatpropertymum.com.au/courses/ The PM Accelerate Membership: https://courses.thatpropertymum.com.au/accelerate Book a Strategy Call with Kylie: https://calendly.com/kylie-tpm/coaching-call Kolmeo: https://kolmeo.com/ Find out about our Done for You Lead Generation - https://calendly.com/kylie-tpm/done-for-you-leads-discovery-call35 AI Prompts to...
In this brief but very helpful episode, Dr. Shaw gives us some solid guidance on dealing with the ups and downs of our emotions and feelings. She begins by acknowledging that we all have ever-changing feelings based on the news that we receive or the experiences that we have. That conversation then leads into her discussion about responding to children who are not in a good state of mind based on either simple disappointment or worse, when they are having a tantrum. She offers great perspective and guidance regarding setting boundaries for our children based on their behavior and their personalities and she also incorporates and shares strategies for parents and teachers who need to handle those kinds of emotional fluctuations and possibly exercise some discipline.
Purple City Genetics pulled up and dropped game on the entire clone world. This episode goes deep into the business of genetics, the reality of running a nursery, global smuggling stories, preservation, rare landrace lines, citrus & cherry breeding, and the emotional rollercoaster behind cultivation. If you care about clones, genetics, breeding, nurseries, Bay Area culture, legacy cannabis, cultivation challenges, or the future of flavor, this conversation is going to hit different. Oren breaks down how Purple City built their name without shortcuts, from family smuggling roots to moving 20,000 cuts a month, to traveling the world collecting lines that would've been lost forever. We get into the hard truths behind keeping genetics alive, the pressure farmers face, clone quality, what makes a cultivar worth running, why nurseries are the backbone of the industry, and how real growers stay connected through global circles. This is one of the most raw, honest, and educational looks into genetics you'll find anywhere, straight from a team actually doing it.Tap in, roll up, and learn something the industry doesn't put on IG. Mike and Chris keep their arms in the car at all times with writer-producer and Rollercoaster superfan Richard Hatem for a wild ride through James Goldstone's 1977 star-studded disaster-thriller that pits George Segal's weary safety inspector against Timothy Bottoms's soft-spoken, delightfully unhinged bomber. They dig into the film's oddball mix of procedural beats, theme-park mayhem, and Sensurround feeling, tracing how Rollercoaster fits alongside Link & Levinson's energy and why its cat-and-mouse structure still works. Expect talk of Segal's hangdog charm, Richard Widmark's righteous scowling, and the many ways a bomber with a walkie-talkie can make a grown man sweat.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-shabby-detective-yet-another-columbo-podcast--5084441/support.
More clients than you can handle sounds like a dream—until you're doing the work of four people. In this episode, Casey sits down with Lauren Bordon, founder of Your Trilingual Support, a company that offers fractional executive assistant services to international CEOs and high-net-worth individuals in three languages: English, French, and Spanish. Lauren shares her journey from working until 9 p.m. on Friday nights, doing the work of four people, to finally building a team and reclaiming her life. This is a conversation about moving beyond the hustle and into sustainable success. Lauren opens up about the challenges of building a team when you're already overwhelmed, the process of finding the right people, and what shifted when she finally had space to breathe again. They explore the double roller coaster of entrepreneurship and international relocation, why every founder needs three key people from the start (accountant, tech support, and executive assistant), and the power of being vulnerable enough to let people know you're drowning. In This Episode, You'll Discover: Why doing everything yourself isn't a strength—it's survival mode How Lauren went from working until 9 p.m. on Friday nights to finally having breathing space How to build a team when you're already overwhelmed—and why it's still worth it The three essential people every founder needs before they get busy Why being vulnerable about struggling actually opens the door for real support The importance of finding people who match your values and can adapt to your business Resources & Next Steps: Check out Your Trilingual Support right here Find Lauren on LinkedIn here. John and Mike take on Thanksgiving in true Fat Guys with Smokers fashion—and nothing goes according to plan. They kick things off by making whole cranberries in about 10 minutes, which actually works… shockingly well. But from there, chaos sets in. Something wildly unexpected happens (yes, even more unexpected than the laptop dying mid-episode), and the masterclass they record on how to spatchcock a turkey? Never actually records. It's an episode full of triumph, laughter, and some truly tragic sorrow as the guys ride the emotional highs and lows of Thanksgiving prep. And to top it off, they close with some big news about upcoming local happenings for Fat Guys with Smokers. It's messy, it's hilarious, it's heartfelt—pretty much everything you expect from John and Mike during the holidays. #FatGuysWithSmokers #ThanksgivingChaos #SpatchcockFail #CranberrySauce #BBQPodcast #HolidayCooking #KitchenDisasters #BBQCommunity #SmokedTurkey #HolidayEpisode #BBQLife

For over a century, people have enjoyed the thrill of visiting an amusement park and riding roller coasters. The very first thing we can point to and call a proto-roller coaster had neither rollers nor did it coast. It was more of a slide. Over time, Roller coasters have evolved into massive steel giants, testing the limits of physics and engineering to create thrilling, unique rides that thrill some and terrify others. The latest Farm Business Income Survey from DEFRA shows average dairy farm incomes for 2024/25 had doubled year on year. The reality at this moment may feel very different on farms as the milk price rollercoaster is starting to rattle downwards, with some global dairy commodities tumbling. The Chairman of the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers, Robert Craig, tells Charlotte Smith that the industry is becoming used to a cycle of rise and fall in milk prices but that ultimately there will be fewer people left in the industry at the end of this downturn. We also dig deeper into what that Farm Business Income survey shows for other types of farming in England. Below the encouraging signs on the surface, for most sectors, incomes were buoyed up by diversification and agri-environment schemes in the last financial year. And farmers on the Isle of Man are anxious about the future of veterinary care, as a major provider prepares to withdraw from farm animal practice on the Island.
