Money and pricing your art can feel like tricky, even uncomfortable topics, but they're also some of the most powerful conversations we can have as artists. Why? Because our beliefs about money and pricing often run deep and show up in ways we don't even realize. They influence how we value our art, how we show up for it, and ultimately, how we create a practice that truly supports and sustains us.In this final roundtable episode of The Savvy Painter Podcast, I'm joined by Growth Studiomembers Merrie Koehlert, Leslie Cannon, and Beverly Woodhall. We dig into how your thoughts about money and pricing impact your relationship with your art, and we get real about the hidden mindset blocks that can hold you back. Whether it's pricing your work with confidence, valuing your time, or shifting your money beliefs, this conversation is filled with insights to help you move forward and thrive as an artist1:23 - Quick self-introductions for Merrie, Leslie, and Beverly as artists2:56 - Assumptions about money as it relates to art that the roundtable have had or heard from others8:44 - How your subconscious programming can impact the lens through which you see your art14:04 - Critical junction points in Merrie's life that reinforced her negative assumptions about selling art18:40 - How Leslie, Merrie, and Beverly view pricing their artwork and how their thoughts about pricing have changed31:09 - Getting around the drama in your head so you can learn to get comfortable with your pricing 34:55 - How each participant has internalized what “the value of the painting” means to them43:25 - The value to the art collector and why buying a piece of art because it matches other room decor shouldn't be considered an insult50:12 - Painting pieces you know people buy when you need to make more money versus painting what you really want and not selling as frequently57:11 - Thoughts around money or pricing that the participants now notice that they were oblivious to before and how Growth Studio has helped Support the showAnd hey - if this episode hit home, do me a favor, leave a review on Apple Podcast or come say hi on Instagram: @savvypainterpodcastI'd love to hear this episode resonated you. ❤️
Thing Discussed: Women's hoops talk: This is the best team in Michigan history. They're tiny up front but they've got a lot of length on the perimeter and are generating a ton of steals. Hung with the best UConn team in a minute for 3 quarters. Reading the DeBoer comments: When someone's at a terminal job he gets to hog both lanes. Our read on it is DeBoer is making the comments you make if you're going to consider Michigan AFTER the Playoff. Timeline is our enemy: if Bama beats Oklahoma Michigan will probably move on to Dillingham and Dillingham will say yes. Dillingham: Meteoric riser, great motivator, Bryce seems to like, Sam thinks his offense is explosive. Concerns are young guys have yet to make their big mistakes. A little weird, but so was Harbaugh. Very ASU with a very Arizona staff. Brohm: Seems like a solid coach, won wherever he's gone but hasn't had that 11-win season; think people are wary that his DC is Ron English (probably can't come here after the EMU stuff) and Vince Marrow, who's said some things about Michigan. Brian: So did Jim Harbaugh. Seth: But Harbaugh was right. Brian: Marrow said Harbaugh was going to the NFL, so he was right too. Think concerns are overblown. Craig makes the case for Scot Loeffler: Michigan guy from Ohio who'd leave the Eagles in a second. Adam Stenavich: Isn't the playcaller, has never been a HC or a college coordinator. Eli Drinkwitz: Not a fan. Schedule winner (they only play 8 games in the SEC and he got an easy one). Personally find him off-putting, not a cultural fit. Gone out of his way to make uneducated comments about Michigan's 2023 season: hard pass. Clark Lea: Intriguing. Offense is 100% Pavia, worried about building an OL, but Seth finds his defense fascinating, seems to be good at putting together a roster. Don't know his buyout because you can't FOIA a private school. Seth: Roster construction is going to be critical in this age. Can you recruit your needs in the portal, build an OL at home, and keep your team together? Whoever they hire the GM is going to be the next most important position. Find the best.

Christmas at Colonel and Lady Garrison's house is all warmth, laughter, and parlour games, until the evening's “entertainment” arrives: a small, shabby medium with disconcertingly sharp eyes. The guests settle round the table for an amusing bit of spiritualism. As the lights dim and the control takes over, the party games curdle into something closer to an inquest, and the most unwelcome of visitors finds its way back. First published in The Sphere on 20 November 1935, “The Man Who Came Back” was collected in The Floating Café and Other Stories (Jarrolds, 1936). It has since reappeared in several modern anthologies of seasonal supernatural tales, including the British Library's Sunless Solstice: Strange Christmas Tales for the Longest Nights (2021). Margery Harriet Lawrence (1889–1969) was an English writer who moved with ease between ghost stories, occult fiction, romance, and crime, and whose work was widely read in the inter-war decades. She is now best remembered for her Club of the Round Table tales and for Dr Miles Pennoyer, her “psychic doctor” occult detective, whose cases draw heavily on the spiritualist beliefs she embraced in later life. What If Everything You've Been Told About Building Wealth Is Wrong? Have you ever wondered why the financial industry treats entrepreneurs like they should act like employees? Save for retirement. Max out your 401(k). Lock your money away for 30 years. That advice might work for someone with a steady paycheck and a pension. But for business owners? It's a recipe for disaster. In Part 2 of our conversation with Perry Marshall, we're pulling back the curtain on what's broken in the financial planning world—and how we're using Profit First, Infinite Banking, and AI tools to help business owners build wealth on their own terms. You'll discover: Why the conventional financial industry is designed to extract money from entrepreneurs, not empower them The difference between saving for retirement and building actual liquidity (and why it matters more than you think) How we combine Profit First and Infinite Banking to give business owners control over their cash flow AND their wealth-building The AI tools we built to help clients understand their "financial nervous system" before they ever talk to us Why we stopped explaining what we do and started letting people experience it instead Key Quote: "The financial industry is designed to move your money to Wall Street. We're designed to help you build a healthy, profitable business first—and then build wealth from that foundation." This episode is for business owners who've felt like the conventional financial advice never quite fit. If you've ever thought, "There has to be a better way" … there is. And we're showing you how. In this episode, Bobbi Brown, founder of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and Jones Road, speaks openly about the challenges of building her businesses, and what it felt like when a major change turned her world upside down. She shares how she navigated the shock, the anger—and the unexpected freedom—of starting over. She and Leah explore what it takes to navigate sudden change, trust your gut, and start over in a way that feels true. If you're facing a “now what?” moment, this episode is for you. Bobbi's journey began as a young makeup artist breaking the rules, creating natural, authentic looks in an industry dominated by heavy trends. What started with testing lipsticks on nannies at the playground grew into a global brand she built from scratch and ultimately sold to Estée Lauder. But after decades at the helm of her namesake brand, Bobbi suddenly found herself facing a moment she never planned for: her work contract was canceled. Suddenly, life went quiet. No overflowing calendar. No endless demands. No clear next step. Just… herself. You can find her book ”Still Bobbi: A Master Class in Resilience and Reinvention” here. In this lively and unfiltered gathering, Dr. Fiona Lovely is joined by her beloved "Meno Besties," hormone specialist Karen Martel and longevity expert Zora Benhamou. This is a candid conversation between three leading voices who've been in the menopause advocacy space long before it was trending. They tackle the frustrating realities women still face, from doctors dismissing requests for hormone testing to the enduring stigma around the word "menopause" itself. The discussion delves into the critical need for education and self-advocacy, emphasizing that despite increased awareness, a shockingly low percentage of women are actually on hormone therapy. Fiona, Karen, and Zora break down the early, subtle signs of perimenopause that often go unrecognized and explain the rollercoaster of "wonky periods." They also provide crucial insights into the practicalities of hormone therapy, addressing why some women don't feel better initially, the importance of dosage adjustments, and why partnering closely with your prescriber is non-negotiable. The conversation takes a fascinating turn into how past trauma and nervous system health may influence one's response to HRT, highlighting the profound mind-body connection during this transition. This episode is a masterclass in navigating midlife health with clarity, humor, and the supportive solidarity of friends who truly get it. In this episode of The Fractional CMO Show, Casey continues the conversation with a dozen successful women from the CMOx accelerator boardroom. This is part two of a webinar series where these fractional CMOs get real about building six-figure practices on their own terms. These aren't beginners. These are women commanding $10K+ monthly retainers, managing teams of 30+ people across multiple clients, and turning down full-time job offers even when they didn't have paying clients yet. They come from automotive, financial services, SaaS, climate tech, life sciences, and consumer brands. The conversation digs into pricing psychology, imposter syndrome, getting ghosted by prospects, why portfolio obsession is a waste of time, and the counterintuitive truth that higher-paying clients are actually less demanding. Casey laser coaches through some tough questions about what's really holding people back from charging what they're worth and claiming the expert position they've already earned. Key Topics Covered: -Why higher-paying clients are less demanding and require less "keyboard time" while creating bigger impact -Stop competing on price—establish your rate and find clients who pay it, not clients you have to convince -Corporate conditioning taught you the finish line always moves—fractional work means you set the standards -You're not competing with other fractionals—your success lives in relationships with 20-50 people over your lifetime -Getting ghosted isn't personal until they explicitly say no—keep following up with creative persistence -Pitch decks are overrated—sell the bespoke solution, not a menu of services -Some deals close in a day, others take a year of showing up consistently in someone's world -Who's a good fit: committed, coachable, vulnerable people willing to do the work and hear no

In this conversation, Mark Walters and his guests discuss various aspects of gun rights, self-defense, and the implications of gun control laws. They delve into the complexities surrounding open carry laws, the legal ramifications of self-defense incidents, and the challenges faced by law enforcement in high-stress situations. The discussion also covers the recent events in Australia, highlighting the failures of gun control measures and the impact of gun-free zones on public safety. The guests emphasize the importance of armed citizens in preventing violence and the misleading statistics often used to argue against gun rights. Takeaways The importance of self-defense in today’s society. Gun control laws often leave law-abiding citizens vulnerable. Cultural attitudes towards violence can impact responses to threats. The NRA plays a crucial role in advocating for gun rights. Recent terror attacks highlight the need for personal preparedness. Law enforcement’s response time can be critical in crisis situations. The process of gun control can be seen as punitive. Public perception of gun ownership is influenced by media narratives. Understanding the implications of political decisions on gun rights is essential. Community awareness and involvement are key in advocating for self-defense rights. Open carry can divide communities, even in gun-friendly states. Law enforcement’s response in self-defense situations is complex and often scrutinized. Self-defense incidents can lead to legal battles, regardless of the circumstances. Gun control measures in Australia have not effectively prevented violence. Gun-free zones may create vulnerabilities rather than enhance safety. Statistics on gun violence can be misleading and do not always reflect the reality of armed citizens. The presence of firearms does not inherently lead to danger; context matters. Campus carry laws can empower students to defend themselves. The nanny state can hinder effective responses to threats. Public perception of firearms is often shaped by fear rather than facts.
