June 8, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 147 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers as they get ready for their final week of offseason practices. The Steelers recently signed OLB Nick Herbig and TE Darnell Washington to lucrative contract extensions, so on the heels of the two deals, Alex and I go over the finer details of both. We discuss the fully guaranteed money included in both deals, the injury guaranteed amounts, the cash flows, and the new 2026 salary cap charges for each player. Alex and I also quickly go over the new one-year contracts that TE Robert Tonyan and LB Jamin Davis each signed last week and how neither impacted the Steelers' salary cap situation. With the recent fleury of contract news, Alex and I go over where the Steelers now sit when it comes to their 2026 salary cap status. We discuss current salary cap space and what awaits the team when it comes to future costs later in the offseason. Alex and I discuss the latest news on college QB Brendan Sorsby when it comes to his potential 2026 playing eligibility. Alex recently wrote about what statistical areas that the Steelers must improve in this coming season, so we go over those three in addition to adding a fourth one while discussing the topic. This 70-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap above, and we make sure to answer a few listener emails we have received to close out this show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Major League Baseball is experiencing a resurgence in popularity, fueled by rising attendance, stronger television ratings, and the star power of players like Shohei Ohtani, Bobby Witt Jr., and Aaron Judge. But with labor negotiations between owners and players already becoming contentious, concerns are growing that a potential lockout after the 2026 season could jeopardize the sport's hard-earned momentum and reignite debates over revenue sharing, payroll requirements, and competitive balance.
Bobby and Alex discuss the long-anticipated MLB-MLBPA CBA proposals —including the Players Association's "competitive integrity tax," and the owners' hard cap and floor proposal. They debate the merits of a cap in a world where owners have a long, storied history of lying about their finances, and dig below the surface into their desperate attempt at juicing franchise values to further extract value out of a game that they put very little into. Then, they are joined by friend of the show Bradford William Davis to pivot to a conversation about MLB's inconsistently enforced domestic violence policies, opaque investigations, and mixed messaging. This episode features discussion of domestic violence. If you or someone else needs domestic violence support, you can call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233 or text at 88788.Links:Buy tickets for the Tipping Pitches Brooklyn Cyclones Meetup on June 12Tipping Pitches Rockies Meetup Interest FormJoin the Tipping Pitches Patreon Tipping Pitches merchandise Call the Tipping Pitches voicemail: 785-422-5881Tipping Pitches features original music from Steve Sladkowski of PUP.

President of the New York Yankees and Chairman of the Presidential Committee on College Sports Randy Levine joins the Brian Kilmeade Show to pull back the curtain on a revolutionary, bipartisan Senate bill designed to save college sports. Levine exposes the backroom "collectives" and under-the-table financial schemes bypassing current salary limits, which are forcing universities to cut vital Olympic and women's sports. He lays out the hard rules of the new legislation—including a strict transfer portal cap, age limits, and the federal registration of agents—and issues a blunt challenge to major universities to prove if they are serious about protecting student-athletes or just running a sham. May 29, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 142 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the several OTA media sessions that took place with members of Pittsburgh Steelers coaching staff and players since our last show. We start this show by recapping our main takeaways from the last several days of OTA sessions and we make sure to focus on several things that Steelers HC Mike McCarthy had to say during his press conference. Several of the offensive and defensive position group coaches talked to the media this past week so Alex and I recap all of the main talking points to come out of those. Those discussions result in us discussing several of the players and position groups that the coaches talked about. In short, there is quite a bit of talk about several different players on the roster throughout this show and too many to name by name. We also make sure to recap what several players had to say during their OTA media sessions over the course of the last few days during this podcast episode. Alex and I spend a little extras time talking about Steelers rookie TE Riley Nowakowski during this show and especially when it comes to his potential snap count and positional roles played throughout his first NFL season. While he's not the only young player discussed during this show, Nowakowski is the one we spend the most time talking about. The Steelers recently made several front office changes that Kozora learned of, so we make sure to recap all of those during this show. Later in this show, I provide a full recap of where the Steelers currently sit in relation to their salary cap situation. This 103-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap above and we make sure to answer a few listener emails we have received to close out this show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. College football is changing fast, and Joey Knish and Brad Powers break down one of the biggest questions facing the sport today: does college football need a salary cap? With NIL spending exploding across the country, some college football programs are reportedly pushing toward $40 million and even $50 million rosters. Knish and Powers discuss the future of NIL, donor fatigue, conference spending wars, playoff expansion, and whether the current model of college football is financially sustainable. The guys debate how schools like Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, and Texas A&M could separate themselves financially from the rest of college football, while programs across the SEC and Big Ten try to keep up in the NIL arms race. Joey Knish and Brad Powers also discuss NIL collectives, booster spending, revenue sharing in college sports, the future of non-revenue sports, and whether college football could eventually break away from universities entirely. They also examine how conferences like the SEC and Big Ten could shape the future of the sport as spending continues to rise. Joey Knish and Brad Powers give their thoughts on where college football is headed next and whether the sport can continue spending at this pace without major changes. May 1, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 130 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers and their decision to not pick up the fifth-year option on OT Broderick Jones this offseason. We also discuss whether that decision would have been different had Jones not gotten injured last season. Steelers WR Roman Wilson is reportedly changing his jersey number this offseason, so Alex and I go over that news in addition to a few other number changes that have apparently been made so far this offseason. In the middle of this show, Alex and I go over the latest salary cap update for the Steelers on the heels of the team's draft haul and the unrestricted free agent tendering of QB Aaron Rodgers. We also discuss the effective future salary cap space the Steelers now have and if the team will ultimately need to restructure a contract or two later in the offseason. With the annual NFL draft now behind us, Alex and I discuss the loud consensus draft board discussions going on right now. Is the consensus board a real thing? Who says so and what evidence is there that most NFL teams use it? We attempt to address those questions. Alex and I also discuss the Steelers and their need to start drafting and developing better, as evidenced by the team's top 10 cash earners for 2026 as of May 1. Steelers HC Mike McCarthy has had a few radio interviews since the draft has ended so we highlight a few of the notable things that he said during a few of them. Is new Steelers RB/WR Eli Heidenreich indeed the team's best seventh-round draft pick of all-time? Steelers team president Art Rooney II sure seemed to indicate that during a recent television interview, so we discuss what he had to say about the Navy product much later in this show. This 87-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap above and we end this show by answering a few emails we have received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices.
