In this episode, Sarah joins LittleOak Founder and CEO Elke Pascoe to discuss their own pregnancy and postpartum experiences, and how these drove them to start businesses doing things differently for parents. Sarah explains how Juna is shifting the narrative around pregnancy and postpartum health-from focusing on what women can't do to what they CAN do–and offering practical advice and resources to help them feel better and stronger during this uniquely demanding season of life.

Sarah Kuhn is a busy person. She's the founder of Juna, a community and app for moms and moms-to-be; she hosts the The Juna Women Podcast; and she's a mom herself -- three times over. In this episode, Sarah talks with Katie about her own mother, Lorraine Fixler, who was born in the UK and emigrated to the United States as a child. Lorraine met Sarah’s dad while working in his law practice.Lorraine was the kind of mother who could run a business and still host the best slumber parties for her daughter. In our interview, Sarah discusses the dramatic way her relationship with her mom has changed in the last decade. Lorraine was just 60 when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. She's been in decline since Sarah was in her 20s. Through genetic testing, Sarah has discovered that she too is at high risk for developing Alzheimer's. Sarah talks about the way she has struggled without her mother’s guiding hand as she raises her own children but also the way she works to hold on to the good memories she has of the vivacious and wonderful woman who raised her.Artwork by Paula Mangin (@PaulaBallah)Music composed and performed by Andrea PerryProducer: Alice HudsonAssociate Producer: Sophie McNultyMother Word Cloud: Please contribute the one word that best describes your mother to the Mother Word Cloud at www.ourmothersourselves.com

Sarah Kuhn, Emily Woo Zeller, and the full Penguin Random House Audio cast and crew did a great job expanding the Doctor Aphra comics story into an audiodrama last year. I wish I could say the addition of the script release made it feel like a "both" rather than an "either/or." I'll explain on the show today... Punch it! ***I'm listener supported! Sarah Kuhn, author of the Doctor Aphra audio drama, dropped by to talk about everyone's favorite renegade doctor in Star Wars with Bryan and Holly. There are also dead Ewoks. Fair warning.

Juna app founder Sarah Kuhn discusses how important nutrition and exercise is in pregnancy and postpartum and how her app can help you achieve a healthy pregnancy and recover after birth.
Today on the podcast, I interview Sarah Kuhn, the founder of Juna, a fitness and nutrition app for pregnancy and postpartum. Sarah shares with us her story of being pregnant while simultaneously working for different fitness companies. Ironically, none of them offered what she was looking for in terms of pre- & post-natal fitness. So there was nothing left to do, but create her own fitness program that offered everything that was important to her - safe, effective workouts for pre- and post-natal women, and nutrition education for every stage! Doesn't everyone secretly fantasize about going back to high school for one last party? Uhh, as if! But we're following our nostalgia train anyway, all the way back to 1995 when Cher Hororwitz first stole our hearts and changed our vocabulary forever. This journey through Cher, Dionne, and Tai's senior year is brought to us by Amber Benson, Sarah Kuhn, and Siobhan Keenan. The original Clueless is a cultural touchstone for our age bracket, but reading this book had us totally buggin'. Were we possibly not the Bettys this book was made for? It felt like we'd been here before, and not in a time loop kind of way. What. Ever. We're always here for a fun story about girls and friendship, even if we can't see eye-to-eye with high school kids anymore!
