Eigenlayer is a protocol for decentralized trust, allowing anyone to build new crypto applications without worrying about the source of trust. It enables other protocols to inherit the security of Ethereum by staking ETH and running the Ethereum protocol correctly. Eigenlayer also introduces the concept of Actively Validated Services (AVS), which consume decentralized trust from the Eigenlayer ecosystem. AVSs are verifiable SaaS (Software as a Service) that provide specialized services on top of Eigenlayer. Economic security is crucial for the short-term trust in blockchain systems, while social consensus operates on a longer time scale. The conversation explores the concept of economic security and the role of institutions in managing risks. It discusses the importance of protocols having sharp measured security and the need for regularizing risks in the crypto space. The conversation also delves into the idea of open innovation and the goal of empowering better services. The second part of the conversation focuses on the interplay between objective, subjective, and intersubjective faults in blockchain systems. It explains the need to bring social truth on-chain and the mechanism of forking to determine the true version of a token. The conversation concludes by highlighting the benefits of pooling security and the importance of isolation between financial applications and forking applications. EigenLayer's core premise is to provide decentralized trust to as many different applications as possible. The Eigen token is consumed by AVSs for intersubjective false and intersubjective staking. In the event of a fault, all AVSs must decide which token to follow within a lag period. Forking occurs after the 28-day period, with each AVS switching to one of the two forks. The system ensures that faults are adjudicated by a majority vote among eigenstakers. The AVSs are compensated for any faults, and the system remains secure as long as the transaction value is less than the attributable security. The Eigen token design went through multiple iterations, with the goal of finding the right balance between order and chaos. EigenLayer's view is that decentralized trust is the raw material of the crypto economy, and trustless composability is crucial. The project aims to bridge the gap between short-term utility and long-term merit. The success of EigenLayer's ecosystem was an emergent phenomenon, driven by the principles of reducing capital costs and incentivizing adoption. In this episode, Austin chats with Sreeram Kannan (Eigen Labs) about EigenLayer's vision for restaking. Sreeram argues that restaking is merely a way of making proof-of-stake networks more programmable, addressing the economic and architectural considerations required to make the restaking thesis work. The conversation also elucidates the relationship between EigenLayer and the Ethereum L1, particularly in the context of settlement and data availability, and how restaking may also one day be applied to blockchains outside the Ethereum ecosystem. In this episode I talk to Sreeram Kannan founder of EigenLayer, a revolutionary new crypto protocol that is the foundation of an entire new wave of applications, use cases and brand new crypto concepts that are being born. Sreeram was a postdoctoral scholar at University of California, Berkeley and a visiting postdoc at Stanford University who was studying computational biology before founding EigenLayer. EigenLayer introduces a new concept commonly called "restaking" but more accurately called programable staking. It sounds complicated but I swear after listening to this podcast you should have a decent understanding of what it is and why it's important. Understanding how it works and why it's important is some of the most impactful alpha you can gain in the space.... That's because after talking with Sreeram I'm convinced EigenLayer will absolutely change EVERYTHING. ----------- THE OBSIDIAN COUNCIL PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP
Today Michael and Myles are joined by Zaki of Sommelier Finance and Sreeram of Eigenlayer for a deep discussion on the converging visions of Ethereum and Cosmos. They analyze how restaking could serve as a bridge between the two ecosystems, providing security to Cosmos chains while opening up new services for Ethereum. Zaki explains how the evolutionary "marketplaces of ideas" tend to succeed over centralized visions, while Eigenlayer offers flexible shared security and permissionless innovation. The group explores attributable versus pooled security, the endgame landscape with ETH as the dominant liquid asset, and optimizing staking models. Sreeram Kannan, co-founder and CEO of EigenLayer, discusses his journey into Web3, why he left academia to build a blockchain product, and how EigenLayer is solving some of the biggest challenges in the crypto ecosystem. Sreeram's journey into the realm of Web3 began with a deep-seated belief in the power of innovation to drive positive change. He recognized the potential of blockchain technology to democratize innovation and empower individuals to create value without the need for established reputations or access to exclusive resources. This unwavering belief led Sreeram to abandon his academic career and embark on his entrepreneurial journey into the world of crypto. “This idea that as an innovator, you don't need to bring trust. You only need to bring your innovation, and that the blockchain brings the trust is such a mind-bending idea that enables a whole new generation of people to actually come in and create systems.” Sreeram initially developed two blockchain products before venturing into EigenLayer, which he tells us can have maximum impact on blockchain's future. EigenLayer's core concept is restaking, allowing stakers to make additional promises beyond the Ethereum protocol. Eigen DA facilitates on-chain computation of high-throughput use cases, such as social media and gaming applications. It introduces a reserved data availability layer, ensuring guaranteed access to data for specific users. Join us as we explore the inner workings of EigenLayer, gain insights into its potential impact on the Web3 landscape, and discover the inspiration behind Sreeram's unwavering dedication to innovation and positive change in the first episode of Beacon Podcast Web3 Unlocked's third season.
Sreeram Kannan is the Founder and CEO of EigenLayer (https://www.eigenlayer.xyz/).Backed by Blockchain Capital, Figment Capital, WAGMI Ventures, & more, EigenLayer is the first market for decentralized trust—creating an ecosystem for restaking, which enables staked ETH to be used as cryptoeconomic security for protocols other than Ethereum, in exchange for protocol fees and rewards. In this episode we discuss Sreeram's journey through academia, the key insights that produced EigenLayer, the many use cases enabled by EigenLayer, the importance of focus for early-stage projects, and much more.Recorded Monday July 10th, 2023.
About the speaker: https://www.linkedin.com/in/prasad-sreeram-00a5a82/ Prasad Sreeram is the founder of Cogos, India's fastest growing intra-city logistics platform. Cogos operates in over 450+ cities across 24 to 26 states in India, providing B2B logistics services. Prasad's interest in building things began during his college years, where he and his friends developed projects involving unmanned railway gates and alarm systems. He later pursued a career in technology, working with mobile chipset companies and display technology. Prasad's entrepreneurial journey began when he realized the need for digital transformation in the logistics industry, leading to the founding of Cogos and a shift towards an enterprise-focused B2B solution. Prasad's passion for creating maximum impact on the ground level led him to focus on agriculture, construction, and transport sectors within the logistics industry. He recognized the gap in service levels and connectivity for entrepreneurs in logistics, particularly in tier one to tier three towns. Cogos initially explored a shared economy model but pivoted to an enterprise solution catering to B2B logistics, which proved to be more scalable and valuable for both enterprises and truckers. Selling the idea of entrepreneurship and convincing himself and his family required determination and support from loved ones, including his wife and co-founder, who provided economic backup. While reaching out to large enterprises initially posed a challenge, Cogos succeeded by demonstrating their understanding of market pain points and a willingness to help in specific locations where the enterprises faced challenges. #IntraCityLogistics #LogisticsPlatform #B2BLogistics #EntrepreneurshipInspiration #DigitalTransformation #MaximizingImpact #EnterpriseSolution #Tier3Towns #MarketPainPoints #FamilySupport

What are the implications of restaking? Not every Bankless listener will be prepared for this conversation. This one is a hard one. If you want to be adequately equipped for the conversation that awaits, we recommend listening to the Bankless episode we did with Sreeram a few weeks ago. That episode will get you up to speed to understand some of the nuances and problems that are discussed in today's episode. Because, today on the show, we have the largest and most gigabrain panel that we've ever had on Bankless…Vitalik Buterin, Justin Drake, Dankrad Feist, Jessy (aka 13-year-old VC - that's her pseudonym), and of course… Sreeram Kannan himself, founder of Eigenlayer and perhaps the creator of restaking…all moderated by Tim Beiko! ------

Chanti: don't remember squat except climax fight in the mud but the movie sucked. Not a Raviteja film at all. Siobhan director, Charmi heroine, and Atul Kulkarni villain Dongula Mutha: Created huge back then because This film is the first of its kind in Indian cinema as it was shot with just 7 crew members and in a record of 5 days. Prior to filming, Varma announced that this film has no budget and that the cast and crew will not be taking remunerations until the film hits theaters. Puri Jagannadh is co-director while director Harish Shankar (Mirapakaya fame) is associate director.[2] Music is composed by Sathyam while the background score has been rendered by Amar Mohile (of Sarkar Raj fame). Veera: rod ka baap, Baasha template with Raviteja, basically he lives with his sister and bava in a village and villain are trying to kill him, Taps overreaction and exposing and then Kajal is Raviteja wife in flashback and she dies pretty sure. Sridevi of Eeswar fame is Raviteja sister but its so badly directed by Ramesh Varma and so outdated routine, and cringe. Rod max movie. Nippu: Saw it in theaters nothing better to do, Sreeram gets sentenced to jail for killing his wife in UAE and Raviteja tries to help his friend. Gunashekar mark rod with YVS mark paithyam all over it. Thaman music Nena oh Nenaa and Oh Pilla are decent, Deeksha Seth is also a waste. Useless. Sarocharu: Stupidest movie. Listened to the songs a lot before release Jaga Jagadeka Veera is underrated song. Raviteja meets Kamal and explains to her his previous love story divorce with Richa then it turns out to be actually his friend and his wife story. Then why the f*** did you even say the story this entire time dude?????? Parasuram mark rod. DSP music only saving grace. Kick 2: Destined to fail because Ileana is not in the movie and not a direct sequel to Kick, worst story, and it was postponed a 100 times. Supposed to come in May, then got delayed to late August. Ravitejas son goes looking for Kick and then goes to some remote village being terrorized by Ravi Kishan with North Indians there and Rahul is somehow a village girl. Insult to the first movie. Raja the Great: Raviteja took a break after Bengal tiger and didnt do a film for almost 2 years then signed a film with Anil Ravipudi. With a lot of hype, it released in October 2017 and I felt its a rod. Ravipudi mark cringe comedy with Gunna Gunna Mamidi bit being peaks of cringe. Made me start questioning where Telugu comedy is headed then I accepted it's dead. Blind guy is basically superman and then his mom gets kidnapped and hearing the bells on a train he rescues her on a moving train. Zero logic, and cringe movie. Only darkness fight was funny. Touch Chesi Choodu: outdated movie, some old City action movie but you can tell its badly directed. Directed by Vikram Sirikonda, KIKK Mirapakay, Race Gurram screenwriter, story by Vakkantham Vamsi, came in off-season Feb 2018. Music by JAM8 apprentice band of Pritam, Manasa song is classic Amar Akbar Anthony: biggest robbery and insult to NYPD, first of all after Aagadu, Bruce Lee and Mister, Sreenu Vaitla kept saying he's changed. He went to J Lo's old house in NY and then Ileana comeback after 6 years in Devudu Chesina Manushulu. Entire movie filmed in NYC and routine revenge drama. Raviteja plays 3 roles with Aparichitudu split personality disorder then Ileana also has the same disease. Sunil is there and a host of comedians but its torture. Only Satya as KA Paul was funny with a KA Paul spoof and WATA thing. Khiladi: 2nd combo of Raviteja and Ramesh Varma after Veera, Raviteja actually stayed away from promotions and could see his disappointment with director and output throughout. Movie is so stupid and has a twist every 2 seconds. Dhamaka: It's not Raviteja range movie and its cringe max. Put aside the reviews Movie is very boring without any excitement or entertainment Doesn't deserve to be a hit. Disappointing stuff.
This week on The Defiant Podcast, Tegan Kline chats with Sreeram Kannan, the founder of Eigen Layer and the director of the University of Washington's Blockchain Lab. His research at UW focuses on distributed computing, information theory, queuing theory, networking, coding theory, and game theory of blockchain systems. Eigen Layer is a proof of stake validation marketplace that reuses state capital and existing validation infrastructure. With Eigen Layer. Ethereum can enable permissionless and modular innovation across all blockchain layers. Today, we dive into Sreeram's background in academia, how the blockchain space piqued his interest, and the hype around Eigen Layer. But first, Sreeram is going to tell us exactly what he's up to at Eigen Layer and how he merges both a data availability layer and a restaking platform. Sometimes, the frontier is at a crypto conference. One of the most prestige being, ETHDenver! We're back with a handful of exclusive interviews with some of the most fascinating minds in crypto. Wish you could make it to all the crypto conferences, but don't have the time? Don't worry, Bankless brings the frontier to you. In this episode, we're talking to Sreeram Kannan of EigenLayer, a platform to leverage Ethereum security through the innovative method of restaking. Sreeram and David chat about EigenLayer's evolution, wen mainnet(?!), what the EigenLayer competition looks like, and much more! ‘ ------
Sreeram Kannan is the Founder of EigenLayer. He is also an associate professor at University of Washington Seattle, where he runs the UW Blockchain Lab. In this episode, we cover everything you need to know about one of the most talked about projects in crypto. Getting to know EigenLayer in 2023 will be like getting a head start on liquid staking back in 2020. Sreeram walks us through how he came upon the idea that Ethereum could eventually export its trust to other blockchains, apps, and protocols through restaking ETH via EigenLayer. EigenLayer is a marketplace for decentralized trust. Similar to how venture capital decouples the need for entrepreneurs to have both innovative ideas and the capital to execute on their vision, EigenLayer decouples the need for a coincidence of both innovation and trust, so that blockchain builders with expertise to build new Web3 products can simply leverage the trust/security of Ethereum. THIS IS NOT A RECOMMENDATION OR ENDORSEMENT TO BUY ANY TOKEN OR NFT RELATED TO ANY PLATFORMS DISCUSSED. ------
While most of us are fans of cinema, for the majority of the population what comes through when they watch a movie, is the people they see on the screen. We are molded in a way to perceive what is on screen rather than what is off it. But there is so much more to movies than what we watch on screen. It's a long-drawn process and so many people are involved in it. And the key people in that list are cinematographers. Being a technical field the obvious gender bias prevails and sort of overshadows a lot of the work being done. Joining our hosts Shriya and Sukanya in this episode is cinematographer and director Fowzia Fathima. Fowzia is an alumnus of the Film and Telivision Institute of India, she started her career as an assistant to P.C. Sreeram. She made her debut as an independent camera person with the film Mitr, My Friend, directed by Revathi, along with an all-female technical crew. She is also the first ever independent woman cinematographer in Malayalam cinema as well as the force behind the Indian Women Cinematographers' collective. Sreeram Kannan is the founder of EigenLayer, an Ethereum staking collective leveraging trust, hyperscaling blockchains, and unleashing open innovation. In this highly technical episode, we dive deep into proof of work vs. proof of stake, staking, restaking, Ethereum throughput, and permissionless innovation. Sreeram kicks off the episode by introducing and explaining fragmented trust networks. One of the amazing value propositions for blockchain technology is that it allows permissionless and trustless innovation - any developer can join the ecosystem and start creating. But this trustless technology is only valuable if the core infrastructure innovators around the world decide to actually utilize it. To help them do so, Sreeram created Eigen Layer with the intention of lowering their barrier to entry into the Ethereum ecosystem. We discuss the ways in which Eigen Layer enables restaking and Sreeram walks us through the actual process of native staking. He explains how he foresees the Eigen ecosystem growing and shares a few of the possibilities Eigen enables. We discuss the importance of increasing Ethereum's bandwidth and Sreeram shares how Eigen Layer can help this initiative. We also explore risk mitigation and all of the ways in which the folks over at Eigen are tackling the issue of security, with decentralization not only being a core value of the Eigen team, but its main value proposition. To close out the episode, Kathrine and Ash recap the discussion and break down some of the more intellectually challenging topics discussed.

It was the year 2002 that I had bagged a training & development assignment from one of the biggest brands in the world. When I sat with the VP of Human Resources he told me the magnitude of the challenging assignment that I had been given. This organization had acquired a home grown company in mid 1990's along with their brands, employees and factories. Most of the inherited employees were not even graduates but through sheer dint of hard work and experience they had grown into Managerial position. The multinational giant believed in recruiting the best of talent from B Schools, CA's and Engineers. So you had people who were over 50 years of age and also fresh 23 & 25 year olds from college in the same team. The VP told me, “Sreeram, I want you to bring the synergy between these two contrasting groups even if it is going to take couple of years it is fine. But if we have to succeed in the marketplace and emerge as a leader this synergy is pivotal.” It took a few years to bring that alignment but once it was achieved then there was no looking back and I had seen in front of my eyes the dramatic result that can be achieved when the exuberance of the youth is guided by the wisdom of the experience. Of course in this journey I have heard several veterans ridiculing the young folks by saying on their face, “Hey, your age is my experience, stop this crap.” At the same time I have also seen the young guys saying that these oldies are too slow to respond and the old methods no more work these days. But once we were able to make the experienced understand that what the youth can do with technology they can only dream off and when they witnessed it in action they understood the value of youth. I remember one day we started a boot camp with around 40+ people and the first thing I did was to note down the years of work experience of each person in the room and it totalled to 775+ years and then I asked can there be a replacement for these 775+ years. The entire room went silent for few minutes. After that when we said now we shall take up each problem in the room looking for the reference points from the wise men and women and we shall also confront those challenges with the innovative ideas of the youth. When we closed the boot camp we had a solution for each and every challenge and there was complete harmony and respect between the exuberance and the experience. It has hardly been a week since India scored the most dramatic victory over Australia at Gabba. And let us remember that neither the most experienced player Pujara alone nor the youthful zest of Risabh Pant by himself could have scripted the victory. As much as the dare devil shot making prowess of Pant helped us to win it was also the body blows taken by the experienced and patient Pujara which led to the fatigue of the Aussie bowlers which was later capitalized by the new generation. That's why I say, “Energy of the Youth and Wisdom of the Experience is an unbeatable combination. Loving you. JVC Sreeram
While many solutions providers in the procuretech space have focused their efforts on automating or simplifying operational procurement, my guest this week is from a company who have used this technology to bring AI-driven benefits to the spend analysis process. Instead of just providing a spend dashboard, Simfoni is seeking to distinguish itself from an increasingly crowded marketplace by offering spend classification, a suggested savings roadmap and risk analysis all in one. We discuss how this can lead to faster decision making, as well as exploring some of the limitations where the procurement skills of the person managing the category will still come into play. Just like a pilot's relationship with an aeroplane's auto-pilot capabilities, AI can do the heavy lifting, but the nuanced expertise of the procurement professional is vital. Leveraging AI to Power Smarter Spend Intelligence: Sreeram Venkitakrishnan from Simfoni 3:10 What is AI-powered spend intellgence? 5:41 I ask Sreeram whether AI capabilities are really that advanced when it comes to classification of PO data and the ability to categorise vendors and individual POs into taxonomies or buckets of similar spend. 10:15 Can a machine or artificial intelligence perform risk analysis? Or is it more around accelerating decision making through making certain pieces of data more accessible? 13:31 We explore how using AI and machine learning can locate the most lucrative cost savings opportunities, which could vastly speed up the amount of time to come up with an expense reduction roadmap from an initial spend analysis. 15:20 Sreeram explains the concept of "should cost analysis", and how market intelligence can be utilised to project what direct materials should cost based on market price intelligence and various sources of commodity price data. 17:32 We discuss how tools like this can facilitate the ability to "hit the ground running" in a new category management position, especially in cases where Buyers and CMs don't have experience of purchasing that particular category before. Will Simfoni and similar tools enable access to more roles for experienced Category Managers with a more generalist background? 20:17 Of the 3 key pillars that Simfoni offers, I ask Sreeram his thoughts on which of them will have the most profound impact over the years to come. 24:10 I muse about some of the same topics coming up in several different interviews that I've done for the podcast and how this is very unlikely to be a coincidence! In this interview with Baradwaj Rangan, the National-Award winning cinematographer talks about his camaraderie with Mani Ratnam, directing Kamal Haasan in ‘Kuruthipunal', which he describes as his most satisfying film yet, and the ‘stagey' filmmaking of K.Balachander. Sreeram also lists his influences and his admiration for the works of Mahendran and Ashok Kumar. Talking about how breaking convention gives him a high, the legendary lensman opens up in this episode of Film Companion South's Journeys.
