It's a spin-off from the original drama Brittany Higgins versus Bruce Lehrmann. Veteran TV presenter Lisa Wilkinson took on her former employer Network 10 over her decision to get her own lawyers. And over what those lawyers cost. It all stems from the interview Wilkinson conducted with Higgins on The Project in 2021, where Lehrmann was accused of rape. And that Logies speech, which forced the delay of the criminal trial of Lehrmann. There was more explosive testimony from Wilkinson, revealing the inner workings of the TV station, in a bid to make her former employers pay. We did it again! Listen to this to hear me and friends sing some solos and duets of famous Christmas songs. I joined talented musician Justin Belew at his production studio Bibb City Sound in Columbus GA for part 2 of our J & J Christmas Music Extravaganza, following up on the most popular "Run The Race" episode from the past year (check out #92). We have a few special guests performing this time around, including my WTVM co-anchor Barbara Gauthier. Subscribe to listen and find all the conversations I have weekly about faith and fitness! We have some fun with this one, give some interesting info on holiday songs you know, and talk about the Gospel that's at the heart of Christmas. Here's a rundown of the songs we sing and talk about: (4:43) JINGLE BELLS, one of the most famous ones but did it originate in Boston or Savannah GA? It also had a different title. After we sing that together, (11:16) I do an Elvis impersonation (maybe not a good one) on BLUE CHRISTMAS, a sad tune, while (14:32) Justin turns into a diva for ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU by Mariah Carey, a song that people tend to love or hate. (17:32) We do some fun or funny duets with LET IT SNOW! which was written in the summer sun of California, but does everyone want snow? Justin and i also play our parts in (26:19) BABY, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE. We also talk about the controversy surrounding this song over the last decade vs. the original intent. (32:58) Local songwriter, singer, and Army veteran Tim Maggart, who's originally from TN, plays guitar and does his rendition of TENNESSEE CHRISTMAS, a classic by Amy Grant. He talks about memories songs bring and how the military handles the holidays. He also jumps in for a quick FELIZ NAVIDAD, then we continue the international flavor with (42:00) my solo of MELE KALIKIMAKA, Hawaii's greeting at Christmas, played on a ukulele from Waikiki! There are also important hymns and songs focused on Jesus that we sing, like (47:47) O COME ALL YE FAUTHFUL, sung at many holiday services at church, then we discuss the changing lyrics of (53:31) AWAY IN A MANGER and sing the classic song of faith together. (57:28) Veteran TV news anchor and my friend Barbara Gauthier does a beautiful acapella version of SILENT NIGHT, then she and I talk about the Savior Jesus being born and what people may have thought of that news more then 2,000 years ago. (1:06:08) Justin also plays and sings one of his favorite holiday songs by a Christian artist, LABOR OF LOVE by Andrew Peterson. We discuss the poetic lyrics that presents the Gospel in a raw way, how it may have been for Joseph and Mary. We have some fun with our J & J duet of (1:19:30) RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER, a character and song which has a surprisingly sad origin. Were the other reindeer really bullies to Rudolph? We discuss. (1:27:25) The Carpenters sang this one much better, but i give it a try with (THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE) HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS, then we close out this Christmas Music special with (1:36:58) a quick discussion about how The Charlie Brown Christmas Special almost did not air, but brings us wonderful music like CHRISTMAS TIME IS HERE. We give you an instrumental version and brief duet. Hope you enjoyed our music and discussion about Christmas, faith, music, and more. Tell your friends about it! "That's what's horrible about politics today-- nobody wants anybody to look good. Are people in politics amenable, available for logic anymore?" Veteran TV star and politico Chris Matthews joins Daniel for a look back and a look forward. From Chris's early passions for politics, to his time working for Jimmy Carter and Tip O'Neill, to his star turn for more than twenty years hosting Hardball, the conversation goes in many directions. What happened to American politics? Is politics "broken?" Why is the right filled with single-issue voters-- i.e. 2nd amendment-- while people on the left have many issues that determine how they vote? Chris and Daniel also wander into territory many listeners will find surprising-- everything from Tennyson to Rachmaninoff. A conversation to thrill anyone interested in the turbulent world of American politics. Support Talking Beats with Daniel Lelchuk on Patreon. Chris Matthews is a visiting professor at Fulbright University, Vietnam. He is the author of the New York Times bestsellers Bobby Kennedy: A Raging Spirit; Jack Kennedy: Elusive Hero; Tip and the Gipper: When Politics Worked; Kennedy & Nixon; and Hardball. For twenty years he anchored Hardball with Chris Matthews on MSNBC.

Veteran TV news producer never thought he'd be at the center of the biggest drama imaginable Miguel Sancho thought he’d seen and covered it all! The stealthy, gritty - too unbelievable to be true stories that he’d researched meticulously and delivered to national television audiences for years was his bailiwick - a world he was all too familiar with...or so he thought. That is until something brought the reality of true drama into his own life. After he and his wife Felicia received devastating news that their son had a rare and potentially lethal disease, real life suddenly hit a sobering turn in the road. The couple immediately went into unimaginable overdrive down a windy path of uncertainty and angst, but with faith in tow and a legion of angels along the way, they made it through - and as a result, a miracle would be in the offing. Miguel Sancho and Felicia Morton during the taping of our episode This real life tail is chronicled in his new book, More Than You Can Handle - A Rare Disease, A Family in Crisis, and the Cutting Edge Medicine That Cured the Incurable. The book documents this labyrinth of reality and all of it’s twists, turns along with powerful lessons that Miguel, Felicia and their family endured - A story that ALL families need to hear!   Miguel Sancho and his wife, Felicia Morton joined the show to put their amazing journey on the record and to let others know, who are grappling with their own struggles in the face of illness that faith coupled with an open heart and a fair dose of humility can conquer even the most challenging chapters of our lives. In this episode, I'm joined by veteran TV director/producer, Warren Pick. We first met back in 2012 on a lacrosse event for CBS Sports Network, since then we've become good friends & working colleagues. Warren grew up in NYC & New Jersey, his mother & father were both in the entertainment business, his mom was an actress, his dad an entertainment lawyer. Warren attended Ithaca College & began his directing career in local TV news in Ithaca, NY & later in Binghamton, NY. In the 1970's, he was hired as a runner for ABC Sports, one of his first assignments was working the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY. During the 1980 USA/USSR hockey game, he was standing behind Al Michaels & Ken Dryden, as they called the Miracle On Ice! He tells that story & many others from the 1980 Olympics!! Warren has worked for virtually every major TV network in his career directing sports, just about every sport in fact!! He also spent several years at MSG Network, directing the Knicks, Rangers and several other events with MSG. Warren also talked with me at length about his advice for young men & women who desire to do what he has done in sports television for over 40 years!! Had a blast talking with one of my closest friends in the business!!

Over the last couple years, we've had several opportunities to chat sports and I'm always blown away about the stories Michael would share with me of his years in the business. He grew up in New York and at young age his dreams were to become a radio announcer. He attended UCLA and then began his journey in the world of Television Sports Broadcasting & he worked in my opinion, the greatest era of Sports Television, he was fortunate to work with Pat Summerall and John Madden, working in a couple of different roles, he tells several outstanding stories about his time working with Pat and John, amazing stuff. He's also worked with TV legends, Dick Stockton & Gary Bender & many others in his career. He's also worked several Masters golf tournaments in Augusta, GA, he tells some awesome stories about his time working those tournaments, including one in particular where he got to interview Jack Nicklaus after The Golden Bear finished his round, and a story about the 1988 NBA All-Star game involving a young Michael Jordan, great stuff!! Michael and I are both massive Seinfeld fans as well, so we chatted a little about that as well, enjoy!!

Veteran TV spaceflight reporter Emmett Seaborn (Lane Smith) is summoned to broadcast the breaking news of the in-flight failure, as young reporter Brett Hutchings (Jay Mohr) is pulled off of sports to help with the coverage. As the crisis unfolds, Seaborn finds himself at odds with Hutchings' style of sensationalizing its impact on the astronauts' families, and criticizing NASA. Seaborn starts to feel he is being marginalized when the network decides to leave Hutchings on location in Houston, while sending him back to headquarters to provide only background coverage. The last straw falls when, after the successful recovery of the astronauts, Hutchings horns in on his traditional post-flight interview with flight controller Gene Kranz. Seaborn leaves dejectedly, not to be seen again until the flight of Apollo 17 in the final episode.
