Jakob Horvat is a Men's Coach, Adventurer and Meditation Teacher guiding men to connect to their life purpose, authenticity and wildest potential. He is also the host of „Thousand First Steps“ Podcast, a show dedicated to supporting others in their personal exploration and growth. Back in 2016, Jakob decided to step away from his well-paying job as a TV-Journalist and embarked on 14-month journey of self-discovery. His travels took him across the world, consistently pushing him to his own personal edges. From hitchhiking through Europe to sailing on a cruise ship to North America, doing a 3-day vision quest, spending time with indigenous shamans in the Amazon jungle, and even completing an ultra-marathon in Maui, Jakob's journey became a catalyst for personal transformation. Inspired by his own profound shifts, he decided to leave his old career behind and underwent training to become a coach, dedicated to helping others uncover their potential and find deeper connection with themselves. I personally met Jakob on a 7-day Men's Retreat in Bali alongside 24 other men at the beginning of 2023 and we've cultivated a strong friendship through our time together. In this conversation, we dive deeply into the realm of men's work – attempting to bring a deeper understanding of what it is and we share our personal experiences of being immersed in spaces where men come together to intentionally explore their edges. What followed, was a rich discussion sharing our own experiences of growing up as men and the expectations and experiences that that society imposes on so many of us. From there, we shed light to what was required so we could step into a deeper space of integration and wholeness within ourselves. As our conversation unfolds, we explore a path forward for men, offering insights into how as men can foster a deeper connection within ourselves. I hope you will enjoy this conversation as much as I did whilst recording it In this podcast, Jakob and I go into following topics: Jakob's personal experiences of being immersed in intentional spaces with other men and what sparked his curiosity into men's work The dynamics of polarity and the forces of masculine & feminine energetics that are independent of gender Jakob's journey of stepping into emotional sovereignty and moving beyond old notions of how men should navigate their emotions The importance of coming ino terms with our dislikes and learning to cultivate acceptance for what is Healing past wounds and building trust amongst men again - stepping out of a paradigm of competition & unupmanship to collaboration and camaraderie. The absence of male role models and Jakob's journey to reconcile his past hurts with his own father. She's bringing diverse AAPI representation to children's libraries and education systems across the US and shares her personal stories of healing racial trauma. You'll also learn about her emotional reunion with her birth family in Korea, the hilarious things mixed-race kids say about being Asian, and why Asian American history matters. Now that we are coming back together in person in addition to all the 'online' work we have been doing, learning how to communicate effectively and with conviction is a skill we can always use.  Public Speaking as Travel Professionals isn't something we can avoid if we want to grow our business too.    In the travel industry, public speaking is one of the most personal ways to reach new clients and potential customers. In order to maximize this tactic, as Travel Advisors, we may need to make sure that we are as comfortable as possible when delivering a presentation or speaking to our clients, both new and existing.     Jaimie Abbott, our guest for today is an award-winning media professional and international keynote speaker. She has spent two decades in the industry working as a Radio and TV Journalist, Political Media Adviser, Managing Director of her own public speaking and media training company and a Communications Adviser for the Royal Australian Air Force.    In this episode of the Travel Agent Achievers Podcast, Jaimie shares her expertise in public speaking and gives tips on how to deal with the fear of rejection.    Public speaking has its challenges, regardless of how comfortable you are talking to groups of people. With the addition of social media, along with the introduction of new forms of technology in presenters, public speaking has become even more challenging.   As a travel business owner, it is vital to make a personal connection with your clients. Confidence is the key when speaking in front of an audience. Jaimie also encouraged people  to simplify their language because people's attention spans are not what they used to be.    For many people, public speaking is a fear and something they would rather avoid than learn how to do well. However, with simple techniques and doing some practice, this fear can be overcome.  Grab all the details and links to Jaimie and her programs and social pages at https://www.travelagentachievers.com/episode70

Michelle Hord thought she had the perfect life and career. A producer for America's Most Wanted and ABC's Good Morning America, she was on a trajectory of certain success. Even a wedding in her late 30's seemed like a fairytale, which later welcomed a beautiful little girl named Gabrielle. But her dream marriage turned into a nightmare when the man she thought was her soul mate, became the source of strife and discontent. An acrimonious separation finally ended in divorce when her husband grudgingly signed the papers. But that same day, he went back to his home and killed seven-year-old Gabrielle and attempted to kill himself. Michelle's grief and trauma so great, her only recourse was to cry out to God. The verse that gave her strength was from the book of Job, "Though he slay me, YET will I trust him." It is what happens after the "Yet" that Michelle is living in now. On this episode of Lighthouse Faith podcast, Michelle Hord talks about her book, "The Other Side of Yet: Finding Light in the Midst of Darkness," that tells her story of heartache and sorrow, but also of strength and healing. April and I talked about the power of storytelling. How your story is your message to bring people into your world and much much more. April! I'm a Storyteller, and a firm believer that everyone has a story. I am also a Visibility and Media Specialist, and after more than 30 years as a journalist, producer, and writer, I now work with people and brands to help them tell their story in a more authentic way. One of my favorite components of storytelling is piecing the puzzle together to craft a compelling, emotional and meaningful story that touches others. No matter what the business is, what the product is, what the service is — the heart of people is always what matters! I have a 25+ year career as a TV Journalist, Video Producer, Writer and Speaker; I know the value of stories.... and I know how to help YOU make sense of yours. I've interviewed future Presidents, Fortune 500 CEO's, Professional Athletes, and Millionaires... and guess what? Your Story is equally as exciting as theirs. You just need to learn how to tell it, and connect it properly to your message & mission. (there is a connection, I promise!) I've never walked away from an interview without a story to share. It's fascinating to me to uncover someone's uniqueness.... and to help them see it, too! I love this work so much because it lights me up and feeds my insatiable curiosity. When you share your story, you can effectively attract an audience, which can help you grow your business, expand your reach, build a platform, have a larger impact in the world.... when you do this, you shine a LIGHT. My passion created the LIGHTbeamers Community on Facebook to give women (and men, too!) a private and safe space to have open and honest conversations about life, business, personal growth, and spirituality. I also launched my podcast titled The Inside Story Podcast, where I take you behind the curtain of the biggest success stories of entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and change makers.... the men & women who have walked through fire and come out on the other side brighter. Stories that help build connections, community, and collaboration.
